I'm not religious anyway. My skin and soul are still intact from that one sprinkle of holy water. I just didn't want to get wet.

But.... I'll leave you alone now. Before I'm being labelled as .....

Cheers!

CG was very impulsive and playful at first, a bit ignorant of politics, and of course she was of marriage age.…
That's the same age group I placed them as well. Even though I knew CG could be 15-17, I rather she be 17-18.

To those who didn't read the manhua before watching TLB or have prior knowledge to their characters' age when…
When I first watched TLB - episode 1, I didn't read the anything (manhua/comments/marketing materials).

With just episode 1 - 3, I WANTED Changge to be 17-18 (because I'm stuck with modern day values), and Ah Sun to be around 22-25. I knew Changge COULD be anywhere from 15 - 17 because she wasn't married but was of marriage age, and in the old days, Chinese girls could be married off anywhere from 12 - 16. Anyone over 18 would be considered "old, unwanted, something is wrong."

Somewhere between episodes 6-9, I read the manhua, and found out she's 15. It was just too young for me. At 15, I find it hard to justify the kind of romance I imagine between Ah Sun and Changge, even in the early stage. So, I needed her to be 17/18 at the starting point so that the intensity and mature level of the romance aspect is acceptable; otherwise, it's just too weird and creepy.

Even to this day, with all the facts known, I would still start Changge at 17/18, and Ah Sun at 22/23. By the end of the show, 4 years would have passed, and they would be around 21/22 and 26/27.

Just finished my second re-watching of this series, what am I going to do now? Li Change is such a strong and…
Same here with Katniss. I see some similarities between them early on, especially after I found out CG's character started out at 15/16 year old in the manhua. Had this been written based on modern day values, TLB would be more of a young-adult series, catered to young girls rather than the more widespread viewers of all age groups.

The topic of loyalty has been brought up a few times in recent postings, and how all main characters have this trait.

China has a lot of traditional cultural values and they heavily influence how people live their lives. Other than loyalty, other major values are harmony, filial piety, righteousness, benevolence, honesty, and courtesy.

We can see Ah Sun and CG and other main characters embracing all these values.

Such a great show! I've watched many historical C-dramas and its one of best among them. I always prefer strong…
I totally agree. This is why I personally enjoy this drama as well. Most "bad characters" were given the chance to redeem themselves. For the most evil ones, redemptions aren't in place but the scripwriter/director at least give us a view of the villains' rationales and draw sympathy from the viewers for their situations. Essentially, the main evil-doers were loyal to their roots/fallen dynasty/loved ones; and loyalty is a major positive traits in Chinese traditional cultural value.

To those who didn't read the manhua before watching TLB or have prior knowledge to their characters' age when you first watch this drama, how old did you think Changge and As Sun were (the characters, not Dilireba/Leo Wu)?

To those who know about their estimated age through comments, manhua, and other sources, how old would you like them to be, disregarding all historical facts alignment or staying true to original work, and why?

Hahaha... Looking at your name handle, it seems like it's saying "Ah Sun's Sexy Arrow." Is that what it's supposed to convey? "Arrow" by itself is just an arrow, but "Ah Sun's SEXY ARROW" is sooooo much more. =P

Well, regardless, it makes me smile. Thanks for the cheers!

After I finished watching this series I tried to watch Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling of Zhao Lusi's currently airing…
I skipped all over the place with Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling. Sighhh...just like you, it simply couldn't hold my attention. I also enjoyed Go Ahead.

May I suggest You Are My Hero? It's one of the dramas I used for my TLB-detox. Believe me, I have tried at least 20 other dramas to get over TLB, and none works other than You Are My Hero, and another lakorn.

You Are My Hero is a slow watch for me. I can only handle on average 2 episodes at a time, but the fact that I don't skip, and continue picking up where I dropped off the next day, it's a sign that it's worth watching. Give it a try!

Alen Fang is a busy actor this year. I am now watching him in The Eternal Love 3 series. I really want to see…
For some reasons, I can only associate him with being a "sad face." Almost in all dramas that I remember seeing him in, he's always a downer.

Thanks for the welcome back. I have no doubt also that TLB will hit 30K.

Hope Dilraba's new drama with YangYang is a good one. It's based on a web novel written by a very popular author whose works have been made into successful dramas in the past.

As for Leo, I remember him saying in one of the recent interviews that he has 4 works coming out this year. If my calculation is correct, that means other than the movie in August, there should be another drama/movie released in 2021.
