The author chose not to depart from history. It is written in the annals that 2 weeks before King Jungjong died, Queen Dangyeong paid him a visit. Maybe the first time they saw each other again after 38 years because there was no entry in the annals that says they met again after she was deposed. King Jungjong during his 38 or 39 years reign attempted for 4 times to have the queen reinstated but the political faction was too strong. The author decided to depict this in a more beautiful and romantic way.
