As I said here below, this drama for me started becoming interesting very, very slowly. The story picked up after Ep.10 and it suddenly shot up until becoming very good (I rated it 8 in the end). I thought the lead actress was brilliant in her changes throughout the drama and I enjoyed the parts played by the two assistants as I found myself cheering for Lee Jeong Do to be with her in many points of the story. For what concerns Cha Seung Won, I definitely appreciated his acting more towards the end as he clearly showed his feelings and became more human but he is not in my top list of favourite actors. All in all it is a good drama that gives interesting insights on the political world which is similar everywhere in the world.

I finished it last night and it was good as you said. I don't know what you are referring which wasn't done in any drama, do you mean the last scene where they had met 8 years before over the phone without knowing it? Yes that was quite original I have to say and I also liked the dance that they all did to win the car.In any case my opinion is the same, this drama is very good only in the second half and the best character is the main actress IMO.
Yes I agree that Toru is starting to show her strength in the 8th episode but she is the one running after him anyway and I can't wait for him to make any kind of move on her...Japanese men seem to enjoy being chased around by women and being precious, whereas I am discovering it is not so much so in Kdramas as by the end it is always the man who chases the woman. So next episode is the last one?

Hi Bladey, I will watch the last episode this evening and yes, I have to admit that the second half is much better than the first as there are a lot more feelings and passion involved.I definitely preferred the main actress to the main actor, she was absolutely brilliant and I found myself hoping that she would end up with her assistant towards the end...for what concerns RMPW, I agree that it is a great drama, very passionate for a Jdrama. It is the first time I see Oguri Shun and he is extremely handsome and a good actor...I also like Arata very much indeed. The only thing that bothers me about this drama is how she runs after him like a puppy everywhere and has not shown her strength and personality very much but I hope this changes in the last episodes. My next one will be Lie to Me, I hope I enjoy it.
Of these I have seen Bara no Nai Hanaya and I totally agree that it is a great drama. I am also a big Jdrama addict having watched almost 50 and only just started with Kdramas. Thanks for your interesting recommendiations.
very good 8th episode...is she starting to gain more self-confidence, I hope so as I still don't like the way she follows him around like a puppy. I am enjoying the contrast between Toru and Asahina as they are both very good actors and also good looking.;-)
very, very well put!! At the age of 49 I am finding myself daydreaming because of the way dramas have entered and filled my life right now. I haven't gone as far as getting a fringe but I do look at Asian men (in their 30ies in particular,LOL!!) in a totally different way now. Thanks for writing this. :-)
wow, what a great interview!!!! I never imagined all the hard work behind the subbing and most of all the different feelings that the subbers have whilst doing this work. All I can say is that I am really, really grateful to Eric and all those like him who spend so much of their precious time and effort that allow those who don't know Japanese to enjoy these fantastic productions. I totally agree that by watching these dramas we learn a lot about Japanese culture as I have learnt so much until now (I have watched about 50 so far). Thanks for this interview which gives a lot of important insights for us.

I agree that the plot of Big is quite weak but Gong Yoo really makes up for it. I haven't seen any other Hong sisters dramas and for the moment I have other sixteen Kdramas on my list before adding any more. My next one will be Lie to me as I liked the actress in Coffee Prince. It's funny how we are switching as now I am more into Kdramas because there are no more Japanese romcoms that attract me except for Rich Man Poor Woman. Happy watching!

Ha thanks Bladey, I was hoping for some encouragement! So it isn't because I am so overwhelmed by Gong Yoo, it is real that CSW is not a good actor!! I thought I was losing my objectivity there. Yes, I can see that KSN is good, but as you say I will hold on and hope for better moments in the coming episodes...thanks again, how is your drama viewing going? Did you watch Big as yet and what did you think of it?

OK, I'll have faith in all the enthusiastic reviews above and comments below, but I have reached Ep. 6 of this drama and haven't seen any of the chemistry between the two main leads yet. I will be patient and carry on, am I the only one who thinks that Cha Seung Won has the same facial expression all the time? I hope to be wrong and write an enthusiastic comment soon.
I really enjoyed this drama. The music is good, the group singing is good and also the story is very inspiring. I consider it the Japanese version of Glee but with an outstanding actress like Amami Yuki.
OK, the ending of this drama was a little bit strange but this for me didn't take away the fact that I enjoyed watching it until the very end. Of course I am biased as I am a Gong Yoo fan and I admit he was the main reason for my watching this, however I found the ending to be coherent with the remainder of the plot which is totally unrealistic anyway. As I wrote in my review of the last episode I believe the scriptwriters decided to end it the way that many spectators were subconsciously hoping for. A more logical ending would have been pretty weird after such a long and winding love story at least in my opinion. Gong Yoo's acting is absolutely superb here and it definitely compensates for the weak story line and the not too attractive personality of the female character.
Nice drama and a very interesting insight on what the life of a Japanese idol can be like when he decides to get married. Good for a lightweight watch.
I enjoyed this love story even if it was sad. It is very well acted by Hyun Bin and it was a little strange to see him much younger and with longer hair compared to Secret Garden. The setting was very nice too.

Hi Bladey, thanks for your recommendations. It is good to know that I have lots of nice dramas ahead to watch. I somehow finished the Jdramas that interest me for the moment, aside from the currently showing ones which is why I am happy I have a lot to choose from Kdramas. I am downloading City Hall at the moment and I am looking forward to that one too. I will be interested to hear your opinion on Rich Man and Rescue when you watch them.

Hi KT, no I haven't seen The Crucible as I don't enjoy sad or dramatic stories although it would be interesting for me to see him in such a serious role as I read that he is really good on there. I have just started watching Big and it was a shock as he obviously is much older than in Coffee Prince and Biscuit Teacher and the plot for me is not as involving as his previous dramas. His acting is as always excellent however. I am not surprised that you are rewatching Coffe Prince as I couldn't stop myself from watching Biscuit Teacher for twice in a row and will soon re-watch Coffee Prince too...he is way too cool to ignore that's the problem!!

Hi Bladey, great to hear from you!! I am glad you are enjoying Legal High, but as for me I am a little bit fed up with detective/lawyers kind of plots and I have gone back to romantic comedies. As you probably noticed I discovered Kdramas and was totally blown away by them. I watched Coffee Prince, Secret Garden and Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy (twice) and now I am watching Big. I am totally swept away by Gong Yoo and on the whole I am feeling that as far as romantic comedies go the Korean ones are better (LOL I never thought I would say this). However I am also enjoying Summer Rescue (and a few other Jdramas currently shown) very much indeed. I am finding it a very delicate and well told story and I love the mountain scenery. Are you watching it too...and what about Rich Man/Poor Woman?

thanks for the friend request. I enjoyed reading your bio, I only just discovered K-dramas and I can see what you mean in comparison to J-dramas which were my first love. At the moment I am in a 'loop' of watching dramas with Gong Yoo who I see is on your profile photo!! I would never stop looking at him, so cool.
