It’s interesting how on viki, the genres for this genre are β€œromance, thriller & suspense” but on here it’s…
namu wiki says it's "human, drama" which would be like "life, drama".

It's calming, melancholic and mundane. Wrapped in a thin layer of sadness, but it does not make me sad.
I love it.
Han Seok Kyu's narration during cooking scene is just amazing with his clam and soothing voice.

Title Cheer Up
Just finished Ep 4. Wondering whether to say this, so pls don’t hate. It’s a genuine question: 1) What’s…
Honestly, from what I watched online, cheering like that is more like a conductor for the audience, where the audience becomes part of the event itself, compared to cheering in other countries where it's about only the cheer team performance.

The pacing of the show is a true πŸ’©.
The romance went from bickering, to barely interacting, to cute couple.
The mystery went from tense unknown, to barely existing, to murder thriller.

Realistically speaking, this is so poorly written. ML is PAINFULLY underdeveloped, There is NOTHING to his character. Because of this the romance has literally zero sparks, because dud does not even seem like a proper real person.

Sun Ho switches from cute, to annoying, to obsessive, to cute too many times I am kind of done.

Tae Cho Hee should not be named as the main character, she is barely a supporting one, which is sad because her plot is quite interesting. I think it would be a good watch to see her arc and dealing with the rumors about her.

Joo Sun Ja should have romance with Do Jae Yi - the comedic possibilities I cannot. While her and Grumpy just... nothing. I feel nothing.

I'm starting to enjoy the psycho dude. It's all so random, extreme, overdramatic and out of the writer's ass I cannot stop laughing every time he appears on screen.

Sure, some interaction are fun. Sure, Hae Yi is a fun character to follow. but damn this drama has little to offer overall. Which is sad, because I loved it at the beginning πŸ˜…

The butterflies I felt because of that asshole Cake, like daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn how protective and caring he was…
Cake was a perfection. Also the fact Santa was able to deliver both the chaotic and teen energy AND the mature caring side and it never felt like contradiction, but rather just different aspect of his personality! PERFECTION

episode 3 - some random thoughts.
he was suppose to have a stutter and not be able to talk to strangers. I find it pointless to be honest, to show him as "unable" to speak episode 2, and now he has no issues talking at all. If they decided not to make it actual part of the plot that has any impact, they should have not give the "no talking" from the start.

Title Summer Strike Spoiler
Good things:
πŸ‘πŸ» It's light and fun to watch. I always enjoyed fish out of water type of a deal - new person in a small town or a new person in a old group of friends. Watching them slowly adjust and others open up is interesting. It also provides a perfect opportunity for characters' development since both the new person gets affected by the older one, and the new environment gets affected by the new.
πŸ‘πŸ» Im Si Wan - Dae Beom is adorable. I am extremely curious about his hardships and past. This is what I kind of wanted to see for Yeo Reum, slowly introduce me to what happened to get and not bombard me with information day one. I like how we see where he is now, and with few flashbacks and side conversation slowly uncover what happened in the past to lead him to this place.
πŸ‘πŸ» Visually speaking - love it. It's not over the top artistic, but it has many beautiful wide shots worth screenshotting. Sometimes shows try so hard to be pretty, it's actually distracting. there were dramas that literally made me feel motion sick because they tried to be so "artsy" with how they filmed scenes. Here we have a great balance - scenes focusing on the plot progression are more simple, while the narrated ones that deal more with internal aspects of the characters give more of a beautiful and nostalgic feeling.

The questionable:
😢 Characterization of everyone and the pacing. There is no real proper development, everyone just changes from one scene to the other, and while at times there is one scene or situation that TECHNICALLY could be viewed as the reason, in real life ain't no one changes so fast. Especially in a situation when there was a misunderstanding or lack of communication - it's hard to admit to yourself you were wrong and switch your ways. But here, everyone just does. They have 12 episodes... shouldn't they get more even pacing. One of the reason I enjoy slice of life is that gradual smooth progression, but I don't feel like we get it here.
😢 Lee Yeo Reum's drinking. for me is kind of does not make much sense, since it's not really grounded in anything? The first time was fine and I completely bought it - she never got drunk, always had to make sure she is in a good condition to work etc. She always controlled herself, so when she finally let herself enjoy things and decided to drink, she did not know when to stop and got so drunk. But drinking her sorrows and anger in a completely different thing. They never presented her as someone who would do that, so it just did not fit the character for me. and focusing more or less the whole episode on it... was exhausting and it's making me dislike FL, when I did like her in episodes 2-3.
😢 I'm still salty about episode 1 because many things now don't really hit as hard as they should. Like her saying "I thought everyone hated me" < for me this line was not earned writing and directing wise. Logically speaking I can add in my head how her life must have been based on these few interactions, but it's not what the drama itself showed me, it's what I added. And even what happened in the town gives conflicted messages - people did dislike her and were not happy for her to be there. Most of them were annoyed or completely indifferent, and only Dae Beom showed actual positive attitude. So it's like it's just her misconception that people disliked her. Was the disliked reasonable? No. But it was there. And since they moved so quickly from everyone not being happy she is here, to most of people helping her and being friendly... that line just feels flat. Because we did not really experience with Yeo Reum her hardships.

When she went "I worked for 4 years and only have 500 saved, where did the money go?" - relatable 🀣
λ‚˜λŠ” μ‹œκ°„ λΆ€μžλ‹ˆκ°€ < this damn, we are all poor compared. We are either slaves to work or dramas πŸ˜…

Seol Hyun improved quite a lot in her acting. I remember her in Orange Marmalade, and oof she must have worked hard to get where she is now skill wise.

The way she just mixed all the pages he had put on the corresponding books omg. girl... damn. my heart broke. I love me a calm, patient and well organized man.

The yellow hair dude is so annoying. The teen girl is also annoying, but she is a teen so like... that's expected πŸ™ƒ

HE IS PRACTICING GREETING HER, HOW WHOLESOME! 😭😭😭😭
AND THE WHOLE UMBRELLA SCENE 😭😭😭😭😭😭

This episode confirmed that the overall mood and quality of the show is more of what was shown in episode 2, and episode one was just a poor falstart.

Damn episode 5 was bad. It was so painfully all over the place and they tried to put too many thing in one ep, it could not work out. I liked the simplicity of the previous episodes, but this was just ridiculous.

Not to mention that random "getting sued, life of a firefighter" scene closer to the end - I am sorry, but I don't know that dude, don;';t know the context of that situation - it was a random bullshit scene that had no place in that episode at all.

LOVE Bong Do Jin.
LOVE Gong Myung Pil, but he is the bad guy inside man Β―\_(ツ)_/Β― Why the fuck he would not get killed? Why the fuck he would say in all cryptic "you should have ran".

Does it end in a way that will make me regret not waiting for season 2 or is it safe for shiro? And as usual lovely…
Here's the thing, from what I hear from the comments from people who read the webtoon, this is more like a prequel, and the answers we get here are the ones we have to deal with, since the main plot will start next season.

I would not be mad even if it ended on what we've got here. But I would for sure appreciate another season. Apparently 2nd is not confirmed tho πŸ™ƒ

Did not check the comment section in a few days, got here today to see if everything toned down, i guess not.

Here's the thing -its either fine to judge the opening episodes both negatively and positively or it's not fine to do either.

Don't know how the criticism looked like past few days, but right after the episodes aired majority of people criticizes just these episodes and i did not really see people saying the whole show will for sure be bad, or that make any judgements about the drama as a whole. These were specific criticisms about mostly episode one ONLY.

Granted, there might have been some new comments since i last checked. I just hope people don't go around strawman others' comment.

Here's the thing - the show is extremely basic, but I don't think it's a bad thing.

We have cases that we have seen more or less in other shows. We have the most popular and basic investigation techniques - it's like a interrogation class on the most basic level.
Then there is a generic villain who plots shits up at the end of each episode.

But it's fun, and easy to watch and that's why I enjoy it. I like how I don't have to use my brain much and can chill and have fun with the characters. I like the dynamics between them, I would not even mind a small romance (tho would prefer one between Do Jin and Seol).

Overall, it's basic and easy to digest in the best way possible.

Me being in a work place, more or less same age as FL, so technically should related, also with degree in clinical and neuropsychology, been struggling with suicidal thoughts throughout the university, been struggling with family issues since I was a child, and still think this was painfully lazy take on the struggles of youth and clusterfuck of bad events with no depth, that told us close to nothing about female lead except- her life sucks.

You have no idea if people who complain are teens or adults, what are their backgrounds and experiences, so dismissing their opinions as "they probably young and know nothing about life" is painfully closeminded and egocentric behavior.
