you're welcome! I recommend watching on youtube since the subs are pretty good for the most part. Also there's special versions of episodes 6, 12 and 17 that you should watch instead of the regular ones and there's a special episode 37 that's only a few minutes long (I think it's on viki but you can also find it on reddit)
Okay before starting this, id like to ask people who watch untamed and this one both. Do you guys think which…
Look I love The Untamed, I prefer the overall story and I think in terms of romance they already got away with a lot for a cdrama. But Word of Honor is on a whole nother level. They shamelessly flirt with each other, they're allowed to hug and hold hands and especially in the latter half you can really feel the love, and it ends up feeling genuinely intimate which I think not a lot of shows/actors can achieve. I have no idea how the censors ever allowed this to air (not complaining though). The story is really good too if a little confusing on first watch so I think you should definitely give this a try
How did this ever pass censorship, I thought people were exaggerating but they're really just outright flirting and even calling it flirting??? There was more romance in this than some straight romance dramas I watched lol
I do not understand how in episode 13 Wei dies and is resurrected again 16 years slater and all these same characters…
If you haven't watched the full 50 episodes then the special edition probably won't make much sense to you, this is like a condensed version that focuses more on the main leads' relationship. You shouldn't watch this unless you already watched the regular version and know the plot. I haven't watched the special edition but I assume it pretty much starts at the flashback, if you're wondering how Wei Wuxian got resurrected it's more or less explained in episode 1 of the normal edition
WWX with children/teenagers is so adorable because he clearly enjoys teaching and interacting with them so much, it's like he constantly wants to adopt every single person who's younger than him lol. Honestly some of my favourite parts of the drama, it's just wholesome
I like that they actually ended up changing stuff in the future, for a while I thought they were gonna go the 'fate is inevitable' route and that the whole trip to the past was just for Eun Gyeol and Eun Yu personally or maybe that they're using Harry Potter logic where everything already happened and they can't really change anything
Update: I’m dumb and accidentally missed the “bonus scene” right at the end. Can confirm that the awkwardness…
(spoiler tag so I don't clog the comments)
ah I get that. I don't have ADHD but I also sometimes just stop watching if it doesn't immediately hook me lol. but as a general rule I like to give dramas at least 3-4 episodes since the first 2 are usually set up anyway, if I don't like it after episode 4 then it's probably not for me. I don't remember Not Me that well but I think a lot of people only really got into MSP after episode 4 too. if you can't get into them at all that's also fine, just wanted to mention them since they're some of gmm's best BLs
Semantic Error is actually relatively long for a Korean BL, the episodes are about 20-25 minutes instead of 8-10 like the viki originals. I do wish it was longer but I'm happy with what we got, it's really good and I'm sure it'll keep your attention. I binged it in one sitting after episode 8 aired
About The Devil Judge, when I first watched it I thought it was going to be a regular bromance and I'm not someone who tries to find romance in everything but they were NOT subtle if you ask me. A lot of it is subtext (more or less) but then they also just threw in a bunch of well-known romance tropes and intense eye contact because they could. I think mdl put it under the 'censored adaptation of a same-sex original work' tag but it's actually not based on anything. The writer just clearly intended it to be romantic, he also said something about writing the characters without genders in mind and how Jinyoung's character would usually be the role of the female lead. Apparently they also had to rewrite the original script to tone it down a little, you can still find some of it in the depths of tumblr. There's also parts of the actual script which is just full of the most romantic ass directions ever. In terms on Chinese BL I've only seen The Untamed. I guess if I compare it to that it's on a similar level while maybe not quite as obvious but with more sexual tension? Like how do I explain this, The Untamed was actively trying to skirt around the censors because everyone and their mother knows they're a canon couple, they're soulmates, it's them against the world. It was primarily made for the Mo Dao Zu Shi fandom who knows what's up. The Devil Judge was more like...they pushed the boundaries, and ultimately I think maybe they got away with a little more, but at the same time it's like they were trying to convince certain people that they're not selling a gay romance right now. It's not canon anywhere since it's an original story and due to their character dynamic which is way more messy and intense it also leaves more plausible deniability for the general audience. There's also two major plot points in particular which honestly don't bother me but I'm convinced they mostly put in as damage control. Some people will tell you to not have too high expectations for the 'romance' but it worked for me and I'd recommend you to watch it either way because it's a great drama regardless
anyway, sorry for the long reply, I have a bad habit of writing essays in the comments lol

are the ones on your completed list all the ones you've watched? because it looks like you missed some bangers from gmmtv, namely My School President, Not Me, Moonlight Chicken and A Tale of 1000 Stars. I think The Eclipse was good too but I haven't seen that one yet. Also Semantic Error which I can't believe you haven't watched and if you don't mind censored bls I highly recommend The Devil Judge, one of my fav dramas of all time. all of these are long finished though
You trying to figure out what went wrong with Kang/Sailom's romance gives me nostalgia for the Untamed. No kiss…
haha thanks. It's been on my ptw for a long time but I kind of avoided it because I wasn't sure if the genre was for me. I loved it though and I'm honestly a little bit obsessed, like nobody told me it was THAT good
So excited for this since it has my absolute favorite director in charge. One thing I really hope they won't do…
I could be way off but I always assumed they chose to call it Last Twilight specifically because there's gonna be a scene where they watch Day's final twilight before he loses his vision and they're gonna have to live with it afterwards. I highly doubt P'Aof of all people would just have it magically cured
The difference is that they were adapting someone else's stories versus creating their own from scratch.
the difference is also that Bad Buddy was directed by P'Aof and MSP was directed by P'Au who has been P'Aof's assistant director for years. but they did make a lot of changes from the novels which were a lot more toxic, especially the one bad buddy was based on is a hot mess from the few things I've read
I could've sworn that Dangerous Romance was based off a novel too though because I've seen people talk about it in the comments
*watching my first proper BL* alright, alright, I get the appeal now. I see a lot of people complaining in the…
be careful to not get sucked into the gmmtv rabbit hole, you can never get out lol
if you want recs I'd recommend anything directed by P'Aof (the guy who's listed as producer here), easily gmm's best director at the moment. Bad Buddy, A Tale of 1000 Stars, Moonlight Chicken, He's Coming to Me, Last Twilight (coming soon)
other than that definitely My School President, Not Me, The Eclipse and Be My Favourite.
for non bl there's The Gifted and it's sequel The Gifted: Graduation, F4 Thailand (remake of hana yori dango/boys over flowers and imo the best version) and Home School
for non gmm shows you should probably watch I Told Sunset About You and if you like cliché romcoms I loved the Thai remake of Full House
