A similar story of a BJ who enters an abandoned building to earn money. Both movies are also filmed in an unorthodox way.

Bloody Romance borrows heavily from Wu Ze Tian's influence and WanMei's character arcs draw loads of parallels between the two. the only difference being the different choices they make but the overall vibe and theme remains in accordance with each other. Empress of China is a proper historical drama while Bloody Romance is more of a Wu Xia/magical realism version of The Empress of China. Both have beautiful vibrant colors and scenery with bloody romance going for deeper colors well-suited to the assassin's guild while The Empress of China leans more on the bright eye-catching 'day' colors. the only harem drama ill ever support tbh.

The main actress and the screen writer are the same for both dramas. The alien in this drama, and the mermaid in that drama have similar powers. Both have the fantasy creature leaving their loved one (but would she come back? I'm not telling you and spoiling) in the end.

Similarly a C drama on sports and romance. Both focusing on swimming and competing. My Mr Mermaid is warmer and has other lovely aspects of friendship, and team spirit.

Both are epic war movies about war between a strong dominant force & outnumbered defendant force despite odds............... Both battles involve winning using deception, heavy mind games, battle of wits & simple psychological tricks. Both movies feature a wise strategist, who tricks enemies right into his trap despite huge odds.

We have a prince who must acclimate himself to peasant life (be it in the future or past age) while being helped by the main actress. Both dramas share the princes being looked down upon simply because they are used to being a crown prince (and many hilarious moments because of it). They also find advantageous situations because they are so smart and have outstanding qualities. The princes then also strive to protect the woman they love while defeating the bad guys. Honestly the more I think about it the more these dramas are similar.
