Fashion themed drama with CEO ML and independent designer FL.

Both are Japanese detective mysteries where there is an insanely smart and quirky main character who, along with their charming partner, solve crimes and mysteries.

If you like Sherlock Holmes, mysteries and bromance, then you will like both of these shows.

Similarities:
- The characters in Mystic Pop-Up Bar attempt to counsel customers when they visit the bar for a drink or for supper. The psychiatrists in Dinner Mate try to provide food therapy to their clients.
- Both are comedies with many hilarious moments.
- There's romance in both dramas!
- Both attempted to explore mother-child relationships.

Differences:
- I think Mystic Pop-up Bar was better in food therapy than Dinner Mate haha.
- Mystic has more character development and each episode explores a social issue so I think it is a very meaningful show. Whereas Dinner Mate focused more on the romance between the characters.
- Another main difference is that Mystic Pop-up Bar has a supernatural theme whereas Dinner Mate's theme revolved around mental illnesses. Overall Mystic Pop-up Bar felt a lot more serious (despite the endless comedic moments) because it touched a lot on life and death and was also a critique on Korean culture.
- Even though the romance in Mystic Pop-up Bar was not the focus, it was a lot more touching than the romance in Dinner Mate to me (I was moved to tears!!)

Both have moms who come back from the dead. Both explore the importance of a mother's role in family and in life.

Another Son Ye Jin movie! Both star Son Ye Jin as she tries to uncover the truth about a child's disappearance. In both movies, Son Ye Jin's character suspects her own family members as the main perpetrator.

Am I the only one that sees a lot of parallels?

-Both are chinese dramas that are about a rich, cold Male Lead and a cheerful Female Lead
-Both Male Leads have a problem with touching woman/people (Although the Male Lead in About Is Love can´t touch people in general and the Male Lead in Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me just can´t kiss girls without having a allergic reaction)
-In both dramas the Male Lead is interested first but the Female Lead rejects him all the time
-Both dramas start with a Love-Hate Relationship and even after they don´t try to kill each other anymore, they still bicker around
-In some point, both dramas deal with art
-Both are dramas I really loved and gave a good rating
-There is even more but I forgot about them...

I think if you liked one, you like the other as well.

both are about corruption, child exploitation, and pedophilia

The same leads, definitely for people who liked the chemistry between the two will enjoy watch the undateables.

The drama made a lot of references to Crash Landing on You, because the actress who played Do-hee (Seo Ji Hye) was in it, so I think it's worth mentioning here. In my opinion, CLOY explored the destiny theme (which sadly only appeared in the first half of Dinner Mate) very well. Both dramas also have very funny and lovable female leads.

Same genre (comedy, investigative); lead actress Lee Sun Bin appeared on both dramas playing almost similar roles as part of a team investigating.

Same time period and a lot of the same historical characters, although the main focus is Hideyoshi. It does, however, offer a sympathetic portrayal of Mitsuhide and he plays a rather large part.

Female cross dressing as a male to go to school . I really enjoyed watching this from the romance between the leads to the female’s character.

The influence of the kabuki theater in Japanese cinema has been fairly marginal, the assumption being that kabuki modes of acting and staging are generally unsuited to the cinema. Both films reproduces forms of kabuki as a central dramatic device. Oshima’s Diary of a Shinjuku Thief reproduces a primitive form of kabuki while Shinoda’s approach is more traditional.

both dramas are about a girl who isn’t “normal” who comes to civilised land and starts living with the ml. in mr fox and miss rose the fl is from a tribe secluded from civilisation, and in swing to sky the fl is a mermaid. they both have to keep their identity a secret and adapt to a new lifestyle, where they both learn to live a different life than what they are used to. there’s also people in both dramas who know more about the fl than they let on and want something from her. the ml in mr fox and miss rose is also in swing to sky

if I’m not wrong, both male leads travel into the past to change past events and to make sure they don’t have any regrets anymore.
