One of the best K-BLs out there!

I knew from the start of this drama that I was going to love it… and I stand correct!

Noq this is how you do a KBL-Drama! Acting, OSTs, Visuals etc. were just amazing! I have this drama as one of my most favourite BLs ever. The chemistry was amazing too… though the kiss could’ve been a bit better lol but that kiss in EP 10 showed how much they improved.

I would like to see a Season 2 except I want the focus to be more on the other lead couple as I think there are still things we need to learn off of their story. And I need my kiss! (Tbh kisses in this drama aren’t even needed cause their chemistry is just that great)

This is sitting up there with one of the best BLs released this year (2023) highly recommend to those who have yet to see this :)

Ok this is my second review and i just finished this drama and no one can save me.
First this drama is the best one this year YES IVE SEEN ALL THE HOT KOREAN DRAMA 2016.
so before we get in. Lets talk about what most people expect from a kdrama or so i figured from comments and my own taste.
FIRST you want romance ? Check . Family values and strong bonds ? Check. Best friendship and relationships where everyone works hard to help each other ? Guess what its there.
NO naive characters here ! Everyone is so badass ! Our main lead isnt a push over goody 2 shoes lost in his own heaven. You push him he will push back. Talk shit get hit.
The story is simple and overused but its not the center at all.
Lawyer get alzheimer while still having unfinished business.
Family and close ones support him. Falls in anepic battle against conspiracy.
Each episode gives a life lesson. Every moment for this man is like 10 years.
I need to remember. Never forget what happened because of me.
The family bonds and his wife and kids make the show more fun and just your heart hurts WITH happiness when you see how they help him along the road without our lead noticing.
CUTE EYE CANDY COUPLE? Hot damn!! Romance / family / mystery / friendship / suspense and lil bit of medical all in this drama.
Best of the year so far.
Yes ive seen signal. This shit is better .
10/10 isnt fair.
I dont need to talk about acting since the male lead is A list actor. No bullshit good looking guy who cant act.
Ahjussi is here to win

"CHEAK OUT" ON RISK OF LOSING YOUR BRAINCELLS!!!

I Officially CROWN THIS BL AS 'the bane of my existence and the object of all my regrets *100000'

GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK!!!!!

THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING!!!! AND I WILL BE BLUNT HERE!!!!!
I HAVE SKIPPED THROUGH 80% OF IT, EVEN THE NC SCENES!!!!!

I LOST MY Remaining braincells Watching this AND had to put bleach [3 TRUCKS FULL OF BLEACH] in my eyes to forget this horror>>> rip braincells💀. RIP EYES AS WELL☠️

Where do we register for our "I SURVIVED "CHECK OUT"!!" t-shirts???

WATCH IT ONLY IF YOU LIKE-
Cheating, like the actors, basic story, just want NC scenes, want something other than high school BL's, attractive guys, toxicity, bitchy female character, liars .

WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO ME-
bland music, Bad NC scenes, Cheating, Long and cringy dialogues, No character development, No chemistry, boring/slow paced[ I watched at 3x speed], jerk characters.

Seriously, I’m proud of those people who are wasting their time into this long and messy af series. The characters were too problematic in many ways.

A FRIENDLY ADVICE TRY TO IMPROVE THE PLOTHOLES OF THE SERIES NOT FOCUS ON SEELING US PORNO!!!

*Nine- Narcissist in a way. It wasn’t sexy at all to covet other people’s boyfriend. SUCH A CHARACTER 🚩🚩🚩
*Daonuea- Childish af! This character is probably one of the worst BL characters of all time. Naiveness to its highest. CHEATER!
*Tee- A BOY WHO LOVES A NAIVE BOY. Ughhhh also a character. I can't stop laughing at how Tee was all like trying to guilt trip Ice to give up his dream job, and Ice was ice-cold!! Literally, Ice was like I'm gonna have a hot makeout session with you, but that's about it. I'm totally leaving you tomorrow. And I couldn't stop laughing.
*Boat, Ice and Candy- MESSY AND IRRELEVANT CHARACTERS! Dust of the series. only good thing here>
*Preaw- A GIRL! SHE ALWAYS SPILLS HER TANTRUM ALL OVER THE PLACE. DESERVE TO BE CHEATED FOR HER ATTITUDE.

The series was too long and too messy. Not recommended for those people who had heart failure due to its boringness. Expectations was far from fair. ALSO IN EP8, THEY COULD’VE JUST MADE A FOR NINE AND PRAEW!

I really really DO NOT understand the need to complicate things. Put the damn uncut version on IQIYI and finish it!!!!!
FAN ONLY???? 25+??????? UNCUT??????? BRO are you giving us a BL or selling us PORN.

8 EPISODES IN AND I WILL SAY IT MAY GET BETTER BUT FOR NOW ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!! TRY TO WATCH IT AFTER ATLEAST 10 EP ARE AIRED!!!! FOR ME NOT WORTH WASTING TIME!!!
ONE LINE WARNING- "It is so bad I want to give you a zero, but that is not possible, so I give you a 1."

This is by far the worst drama I have ever watched, and if you look at my list you will see that I have watched a lot over the years.
Story: BAD
Acting: BAD
Directing: BAD
Editing: BAD
Product placement: BAD
All of it was bad. Am I sorry I watched? YES. YES. YES. I LOST MY BRAINCELLS HAD TO BLEACH MY EYES TO REMOVE THIS HORROR AND BASH MY HEAD TO A TREE SO THAT I COULD FORGET I EVEN SAW THIS EVER>>

Better to remember the name of the director and the screenwriter in order not to lose another 12 hours of your life.
note it>>> for future references> fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me>
"Unforgotten Night" and "Check out" were in a competition for the most ridiculous Thai BL of all time. PEOPLE ARE really not sure which one will win.
I think check out won with flying colors >>>>>

WORST BL EVER>>> EVER>>>

Warning: This movie contains some mildly inappropriate scenes ^^" (Mildly inappropriate as in, if your parents walked in on you watching some of those scenes, they might gasp a bit, and you might fidget uncomfortably in your chair/bed, but that's it)

Ok, first off, there has been a TON, and I mean a whole lot of bad ratings/reviews for this movie. Because of this, I can honestly say I was very hesitant to watch this movie, judging from the reviews. But... I still watched it so I could judge for myself :)

So to start, it's not like the bad ratings didn't have a point. Let me make this a little clearer for you guys. The movie was not HORRIBLE, per se, but if you're one of those people who enjoy romantic, action/adventure, melodramatic genres which evoke those deep feelings inside of you, this movie is definitely NOT for you. It is a light-hearted movie with no real "deep" meaning behind it. So if you're one of those people who enjoy watching comedic movies, this MIGHT be the movie for you (and let's face it, there's definitely some crime and a little action mixed up in there somewhere too). Continue reading if you want to know more ;)

Story: I can sum my feelings up in one word: Meh. It's not like the storyline was a BAD idea, but I felt it was the kind of plot which would have been amazing had it started off a 20+ episode drama. However, being made into a movie, the plot didn't reach it's full potential and therefore was a little repetitive (let me just say that he didn't get kidnapped just once, nor did he try to escape just once- and that was in a hour and half movie). And yes, the storyline sped by WAY too fast, and it left me blankly staring at the screen for a solid 15 minutes just to figure out if I had the facts right.

Acting/Cast: No complaints here. The acting was quite good, it didn't seem superficial at all (except when purposely made to look superficial), and I enjoyed watching them. Let's face it. Jae Joong might be some very sweet eye candy, but his acting didn't lack at all. Also, Ji Hyo did a very good job with her two-sided character. All the other minor characters also did an amazing job, making me crack a smile here or there.

Music: Honestly, I don't even remember hearing any music in the movie. It's one of those movies which don't really need music to get the point across, or to evoke feeling from the watchers. But since I didn't cringe because of completely mismatched, horrible sounding "music", I gave it a 7.

Rewatch Value: I'm quite surprised at myself wanting to watch it again. It's the first time I've ever even thought of rewatching a movie right after I finished watching it. Reasons? It's short, funny (some people may disagree), and well, why not?

Overall: It might not be as funny as some other dramas/movies I watched, but I don't regret watching it. In fact, if you're thinking of watching this right now, I suggest you do it with a couple of your drama lover friends, with a bowl of popcorn with you and a comfortable place to sit and enjoy. It didn't make me laugh as in tears-streaking-down-my-face-rolling-on-the-floor-OHSHOOTCRAMPS, but there were many times when I smiled and chuckled a bit. And let's face it. Most of the time, I was just smiling at Jae Joong and his adorable character ^^

P.S. If you're a fan of Jae Joong, I just want to tell you that he is so hot in this movie, that you'll find yourself wanting to open a window. JS.

Great Plot, Steamy Romance, Intelligent Jokes

This is one of the most endearing and light-hearted historical dramas of 2020. I almost missed it because of its cheesy title. But within the first episode, I was totally sold because of the outrageous jokes they use with the playing of an accent that leads to a misunderstanding of a mission. The misunderstanding is hilarious and adorable.

The Story
Xiong Xiruo (Xi Zi) is a comic book artist. Her favorite subject is the legendary tale of Duke Li and the inhabitants of the Li mansion. Duke Li has 2 sons. The oldest son is a fearsome general who wins in every battle and is nicknamed God of War. The second son is a flamboyant artist who lives a free lifestyle outside of the mansion. Duke Li also has an older brother who is a kept hostage living in the Song mansion and a baby brother who is younger than his own sons. Because Xiong Xiruo’s depiction of the Li family is such outrageously slanderous, she’s being hunted down by Li Hongbin (Xia Ningjun), Duke Li’s oldest son.

Xiong Xiruo, apart from being a genius artist, she also has an eidetic memory; she has the ability to remember every detail of anything she sees. For this skill, she is being commissioned to sneak into the Li mansion to draw the four luó hàn (luó hàn are monks in the Shaolin Temple). However, due to the strong regional accent of her commissioner, Xiong Xiruo mistakes the terms luó hàn to be luǒ hàn which have the same homophone (but totally different meaning) of naked men; in Xiong Xiruo’s mind, she thinks she’s been commissioned to draw four naked men for a whopping 2,000 coins. The scenario unfolds thereafter is hilarious as one can imagine.

Li Hongbin is fearsome and Xiong Xiruo is fearful of him. His favorite line is always, “Death by the paddles”. Trying to avoid being killed, Xiong Xirou feigns her pregnancy and forces Li Hongbin to marry her. To escape an unwanted marriage to another woman, Li Hongbin agrees. Out of his expectation, he falls head over heels in love with Xiong Xirou and cannot let her go despite of her lowly background.

The Acting
Both main actors Xi Zi and Xia Ningjun are new to me and I love them both. As Xiong Xiruo, Xi Zi is adorable with her big round eyes, button nose and pouting lips. Not extremely elegant and sophisticated looking as other actors, Xi Zi brings in an air of unpretentiousness and endearment. Running with her hands swinging in the air and cross-dressing as a boy, she is refreshing. I just love watching her teasing Li Hongbin and get him agree to her demands. Fast witted and crafty, Xiong Xiruo always manages to come up with all kinds of crazy stories to get herself out of her predicaments. This is Xi Zi’s first drama taking a main female lead role and she has done a great job.

As Li Hongbin, Xia Ningjun is extremely good looking with a cold heart. He has no interest in any women. All he wants is to protect the country and his territory. Xiong Xiruo is frightened of him and calls him a big monster. However, when he falls head over heels in love with her, he becomes the most loving and protective man any women could ever ask for. As a relatively new actor, Xia Ningjun’s performance is convincing and very enjoyable.

My Verdict
This is one of my most enjoyable series as it is delightful and refreshing. The viewers can see the love of the OTP develop over time slowly. Apart from the initial faked pregnancy which is quickly and voluntarily revealed to Li Hongbin, there’s hardly any more deceits or misunderstandings between Xiong Xiruo and Li Hongbin thereafter. Their chemistry together is unmistakable; their bonding and love for each other are strong. There is no complicated familial relationship such as step children or concubines. Both parents are wise and loving; Duke Li is deep but always humble and kind. All he wants is a harmonious family which is an overarching philosophy passed down for generations for the Li family. At the end of the drama, all the antagonists get their deserving punishments. There is no lazy writing off any characters for a quick ending. Despite there may be some simple inconsistent logic and flaws here and there, this is still a very enjoyable drama for all ages. Don’t miss it!

Way too underrated :)

Alrighty, I'm writing this review because I feel like this drama is way too underrated and deserves better. It needs to be protected from all the bad reviews out there! I honestly didn't expect to fall for it that much but that's exactly what happened :D

Story: When I heard that the ML was suffering from mysophobia, I was like "Oh, this is an interesting premise". And it was! At some points I could even relate to him because I also had encounters with OCD and I know how that feels like. It was just beautiful to see how his symptoms started to improve. Love is so powerful and it was just super heartwarming to witness his great development!
To be honest, it took me like 3 episodes to really get into this drama but after that I was hooked! I love how the romance developed and this drama had also some great character developments!

Acting/Cast: Okay, let me tell you one thing: I absolutely love the cast and the acting was fantastic! Even the side characters were super cool and funny! The SL was a nice guy as well!!! Also, this drama had the best kissing scenes I've ever seen in a drama!!! It was absolutely NOT K-drama-like and I was pretty surprised about that. But wow, if you have already seen this drama, you will understand what I'm talking about haha :D You could basically feel the chemistry between the ML and the FL! And something I found very interesting is that the two of them have a huuuge age gap. 12 YEARS!!! But their acting was so good that you absolutely couldn't tell.

Music: I'm still in love with the OST songs!!! Every time the song "Gravity" by KLANG came on, I was feeling super hyped and happy!!! It's definitely my favorite song from this drama. Also the song "Glory Days" by Sentimental Scenery was super super good! The producers definitely know when to play the best songs hehe :D

All in all, I really really enjoyed watching this drama! It definitely put me in a good mood! The only thing I kind of disliked were the last two episodes or so... I loved the ending but I really did suffer before that haha XD But as long as it has a happy ending I'm okay with that and 9/10 is a super good rating after all!
I can totally recommend it to everyone who's looking for a nice rom-com! Let me just tell y'all that this drama is worth the watch and that you won't regret it! :)

I originally watched this because of Playful Kiss, hoping to compare the dramas. I am a huge fan of Playful Kiss, but after watching It Started With A Kiss, it surpasses Playful Kiss. First off, the storyline may be close to the same, but ISWAK really goes into depth with the story and the feelings of the characters. ISWAK develops characters and how they handle certain situations, and unlike Playful Kiss' Baek Sung Jo, the audience can really understand the main character's feelings. I would highly recommend watching It Started With A Kiss if you are wanting something that is witty, funny, and romantic, and expect a lot more romance in the sequel. There shouldn't be any disappointment by the time you've seen the whole entire drama. :)

This was my first taiwanese drama after 2 years.. It's not the reviews that convinced me but the genre. As always, I'm a revenge-melo drama lover so when this show was still in it's early few episode, I've decided why not I give this drama a try. Who knows I might be like it. Now that I do. I did'nt just like the show. I LOVE IT. COMPLETELY. DEEPLY.

I will just give you all the reasons WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH BEHIND YOUR SMILE :

1) The intrigue plot of revenge. It's nothing original about it. You got a main male lead who was hellbent on taking revenge on people who had done wrong to his family and eventually lead to the death of his father. It was the only mission of his life provided that he successfully carried out his revenge. He since then become the Ice Prince, cold and heartless. Then our main heroin, the Warm-Hearted Princess came along into his life accidentally. She who since then melt his frozen heart and teach him how to smile again. The story sound so typical was'nt it? This no mistake was the foundation of the show but what made me fall in love with the show was how the story being directed and developed. There was nothing typical of it. It was addictive and compelling. Watch it if you want to know!

2) Good acting and great chemistry between leads. At first while watching Marcus Chang potraying Zhao Yi Ting, The Ice and Jerk Prince, I'm not so convincing. I noticed the awkwardness and it feel slightly fake. But as the show goes on, as I became more warm up to his character, I think that his acting became much better. He became better with his facial expressions even the subtle one. When he's in pained expression, I can feel it as my own. I can feel his heart breaking even when he wore a cold facade. I tell you that,if an actor manage to make the viewer feel that, He. Is. Really. A. Very. Good. Actor. And Liu Eugenie as Lei Xin Yue. Her character was annoying at first. Definitely became annoying and weak were her characters in the early of the show as the one who has been sheltered entire of her life and she did very good at that. Later on, she became the strong heroin that I want. She also shows that being strong is not when you let go of the person that you love but being able to forgive and hold on the person that you love even if he hurt you beyond reason because you can see the ways he love and take care of you more than the ways he hurts you. It sound dumb I know I know. But she really shows only those who have big heart can forgive people. :P

3) Very smart and wise male lead. This show have it. Zhao Yi Ting was never one step behind while dealing with his enemy. He is sensible and insightful. To have a revenge based drama, a smart and clever lead was a must. It is absolutely no fun in watching revenge show with dumb and slow-witted characters.

4) Good looking main leads. If you only watch the show with good looking leads. This show might be for you. At same point while watching the show in it's early episode, I even thought the 2nd male lead was much more good looking than the 1st male lead :P

5) No love triangle. If you hate a romance show with love triangle/ rectangle / polygon this might be the show for you. There was only one-sided crush present in the show and even that was'nt too burdening because our heroin's love to our main male lead was unwavering to the end.

6) Very hot steamy kiss scene :P (I'll leave it to your imagination of how hot it is.. :D )

7) The OSTs was so great. All the soundtrack was so damn fantastic that I must download all of them and keep it in my phone. I usually got bored while hearing the same song over and over again but it was'nt the same case with all the song in BYS. It now has been dozens of times already I listen to the Shi Shi - He is'nt Worth It, I keep wanting to listen to it more. I also love the Don't panic song the same. It is cute and catchy.

Alright, I think 7 reasons are enough for now. Lastly, I recommend this to everyone who want to watch revenge-melo-romance drama at this moment. Give it a try, you might love it the way I did ^^

Chilling is one of those movies that incorporate many genres. It has comedy, drama, horror, and romance. This may seem like a lot. You might, also, think that just because of that (and possibly previous experiences) the movie might be chaotic and just have a bunch of random scenes thrown in together and call it a day, but that is not the case. Everyone who took part in this movie did a great job. The scenes do not feel disconnected at all; they flow together and very nicely tell a story.

Story: It's not an original story, even the synopsis tells it so, but it was very enjoyable.

Acting/ Casting: Lee Minki, who I have recently seen in his cameo on the drama "Shut Up: Flower Boy Band", has captured my heart with his acting once again. He is truly a magnificent actor who just gives to his characters a life of their own. I have to mention that both characters he played have a very distinctive feel to them and I just want to see him in more and more things.

I had only seen Son Ye Jin in "Personal Taste", and although I did like the drama, I wasn't that impressed with her in that particular role. But she was just perfect as Yeo Ri. Both of them made the characters likable and believable and that just made me sympathize with them and the things which were happening to, and around, them.

They have really good chemistry together.

I also liked the supporting actors. The movie had a great cast all around.

Music: It felt like it belonged at all times and complemented the scenes nicely.

Rewatch: I will definitely re-watch this movie more than a few times.

Overall: The movie is almost two hours long, but it felt less than that because I was totally immersed in the movie (I did stop it once just to post on the discussion thread. But that had nothing to do with the movie and all with the subs I found). I think this a very well done movie.

Almost a slam dunk!

At first glance, this drama may seem like another campus romance, but there is a surprising amount of depth and freshness in how characters were written and how they behaved compared to your typical University BLs.

The story follows Han Ji Won, a retired gymnast, as he steps away from the limelight and tries to adjust to a more ordinary life at university.
He may seem timid , socially a bit awkward and reversed. Zooming in, it may look like he hesitates a lot but he also reflects on his actions and reactions, and then acts on it. I agree that he is emotionally guarded but I feel he was very kind and thoughtful!

His decisions may be seen as cowardly and frustrating at times but considering his star background and how he would have endured both admiration and harsh judgment, it's understandable he sees through the world with caution. Deep down, he fears not only getting hurt but hurting others, especially those who grow close to him. Once I look at his decisions from that point of view, I do understand where he is coming from. I like how the drama handled this.

Coming to Kwon Jeong woo, initially he comes across as the classic campus heartthrob who is confident, well-liked and effortlessly charming. But rather than playing into expected tropes, his presence balanced the story. His openness, both in acknowledging his feelings and expressing them so clearly was really refreshing!

It's rare in BL drama to see a lead who is so self aware about his emotions and doesn't go into "panic" mode and mess with others 'emotions. I really liked how Jeong woo came out so casually in front of his friends. I like how less dramatized this was and how respectfully everyone handled that. This was definitely a stand out aspect for me.

The chemistry between them was strong and from the get-go! It was our "timeless opposites attract" setup. The little glances... The accidental touches here and there... Their personalities did clash but in the right way. It never felt forced. They had these small genuine moments that build up to something meaningful and intense with an actual emotional weight.
Also, the kisses were done so tastefully. I felt like I was intruding on them by just staring at the screen! Lol. Again a surprise!

The supporting cast also did a great job though there weren't many of them. I enjoyed the dynamics between Jeong woo's friends with him and with Jiwon. They definitely brought a dose of light heartedness but the support they showed made their presence more endearing.

Also, even though they never actually showed the two friends in a relationship, the subtle "I like them" moments totally got me. I just know they liked each other, it was really cute.

I do wish the drama would have been slightly longer so that the story and characters could have breathed more. The pacing was decent overall but in some moments things moved a bit too quickly. And I am also not a fan of leaving conflict resolution to the last episodes. But considering the standard 8 episode KBLs , I am very happy with what was presented.

Acting wise, I did the actors did a great job. I hope to see more of them in future. Production also seemed quite decent! But what bothered me a bit is the background music. Sometimes it was too distracting.

I didn't think I would vibe with it, this much but here we are. It's very binge-able and genuinely adorable. Yes it does lean into some of the overused tropes we have all seen before, but the way it’s done is well. Maybe I do see things through rose-colored glasses, but compared to a lot of other BLs in the same lane, this one actually felt like a fresh take.
I would definitely recommend it!

A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!!!

"Rise of Ning" is a captivating historical drama that tells the story of Yining, a girl who returns home after being cast away by her father as punishment. Upon her return, she navigates the complexities of her family relationships and the intricate politics surrounding them. The drama delves into the mysteries of her mother's death and the secrets of her birth, adding layers to the narrative.

As Yining reconnects with her family, she encounters a man who is intricately linked to her past and is also ostracized due to his origins. This relationship adds depth to the story, as both characters work together to confront the adversities posed by their family dynamics. The series primarily focuses on the various family relationships and the political intrigue within them, showcasing how the female and male leads support each other in their individual battles.

I initially watched this drama for the cast, particularly Ren Min, who portrays the female lead. I have admired her work in various projects before. Similarly, I was drawn to Zhang Wanyi, the male lead, who I had previously seen in the historical drama "Are You the One." However, beyond the impressive casting, I found myself falling in love with the story's buildup and development.

The narrative, centered around family, adversities, and complicated relationships, is both intriguing and engaging. The writer skillfully navigates potential pitfalls in the plot, ensuring that the story remains cohesive and captivating. Although the pacing starts off a bit slow, it serves as an essential part of the overall buildup, ultimately keeping me entertained and invested in the characters' journeys.

Given that this drama revolves around family politics, one might expect it to lean heavily into darker themes. However, despite its deep and heavy plot, "Rise of Ning" manages to maintain a light and relaxing tone, which I found refreshing.

One of the standout aspects of the series is the way its characters are written, particularly the main leads. The female lead is portrayed as quick-witted, smart, and emotionally and mentally strong. While she may not be physically powerful, her vulnerability makes her relatable and human. I loved how she embodies both strength and vulnerability; she isn't a warrior and doesn't rely on physical combat but instead uses her intelligence to navigate various challenges. She also assists the male lead in overcoming his own obstacles.

On the other hand, the male lead is characterized by his calm and gentle demeanor, combined with a sharp intellect. He possesses a tough side that emerges only when provoked, which I admired. Together, these two characters shine throughout the series. For the first time, I felt that neither lead overshadowed the other; instead, they both stood out in their own right, complementing each other beautifully. Their dynamic as a team was incredible, and I loved their teamwork.

Additionally, the supporting characters were interesting and added depth to the story. This drama features a diverse cast, and whether good or bad, each character contributed to making the show even more engaging.

The character development and the balance between the leads created a captivating viewing experience. It's great to see a drama that successfully highlights the strengths and vulnerabilities of its characters while keeping the tone enjoyable.....

The relationship between the leads is developed in a slow yet delicate manner, considering they start off as a sort of family and then evolve into something more. I love how they drew that line; as family, their bond was portrayed in a pure and heartwarming way, allowing the audience to feel the fondness between them. When they transitioned into lovers, it was a simple yet profound change. The shift was nothing grand but rather subtle, with each step taken carefully, which I appreciated a lot.

The chemistry between the leads was beautiful to watch. Their interactions made me giggle, and I adored seeing them together—both as supportive family members and as romantic partners. It was a beautiful, delicate, and heartwarming relationship that felt comfortable.

What stood out to me was the equality in their relationship. The writer made a conscious effort to avoid misunderstandings between them by emphasizing communication. This, combined with the carefully built trust, made their bond even stronger. He was always willing to protect her, even when she didn’t ask for it, and she was equally willing to help him out. Their overall dynamic was amazing to watch.

They don’t delve into the romantic aspect until later in the series, but the buildup of their relationship was so well done that the transition felt smooth.

I also loved how they inserted moments of comedy here and there, which lightened the mood even more. This balance made the series not only engaging but also enjoyable to watch!

The ending was beautiful, I love how they tied the knots and everything felt pretty much sorted out....this drama was such a wonderful experience..from a personal view and perspective...I loved every moment of it and actually needed more..but it was wrapped up beautifully.

Overall rise of Ning was such a pleasant surprise, and I'm really glad I gave it a chance! From the impressive cast to the engaging plot, everything just clicked. I know some people have reservations about the female lead, but honestly, she nailed her role! And of course, Zhang Wanyi did it again—his performance was fantastic, and I can't wait to see more of his work in the future.

The characters were well-written, and the relationship development between the leads was so captivating. The plot execution was spot on, and I never felt like the drama fell short at any moment. This has definitely become one of the best Chinese dramas I've watched this year!

Do I recommend it ? YES like there is no other answer I would give exept give it a chance and it might be exactly what you want.....

I really enjoyed this much much more than I expected!!

I have not read the novel so all I know is the summary and the trailer, and I went in with pretty average expectations for the plot. But I am aware about how good Nanon's acting is after having loved him in The Gifted franchise, so I'm excited nonetheless.

Having watched this week by week, I did not expect to love it so much!! I thought the end was clever too and found it realistic and hopeful. One of the most interesting endings to a BL if I may say. Sharing my weekly episode reviews below:

Episode 1: Very promising start! We got an introduction to the characters and the main plot point of why their families hate each other so much. Pat and Pran are shown to not be on friendly terms (at least on Pat's side, because Pran seems very polite and generally chill). The music is a BANGER! I might be biased because this is totally my type of music, but for some reason it totally fits the aesthetics of the shots and the cinematography. I also love the domesticity in the ending credits!

Episode 2: Pat and Pran's dynamic seems to be much deeper than what we were first shown. From the first episode I thought Pat couldn't tolerate Pran at all, but here it seems like he let himself more, idk, loose? Like he's comfortably bantering and bickering with Pran and it feels very natural, so I guess this is actually his true nature that he has been suppressing for quite some time. The flashback also confirms this, but there has to be more than that because I'm not convinced that the "playing in a band together with the son of our family's worst enemy" is the reason Pran got transferred. Also hats-off to Nanon's acting. Ohm is also very good, actually, but more so Nanon. Anyway in terms of the leads' acting, this by far is on another league compared to other Thai BLs.

Episode 3: OKAY I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. This episode basically confirms that Pat likes Pran somehow, and his antics are like a silly school boy having a crush. What was interesting to me was the episode opened with showing how Pran was Pat's "secret crush", but the scene was actually showing Pran doing something special for Pat, which is not something friends, or even bestfriends, would do! This episode was just full of heart-fluttering moments and there was no cheesiness or awkwardness at all, the acting and writing are so natural. I feel like the show is starting to bring out its big guns!

Episode 4: OH MY GOODNESS NANON. THIS GUY CAN ACT. LIKE /REALLY/ ACT. I have so many emotions during this episode and for me this episode went by the fastest compared to the previous ones; I just felt so empty after finishing it. I really like how they made the characterizations. Pran can't hate Pat no matter how much he wants to because he's already in so deep. Pat...wow idk where to start. Let's just say I feel so complicated about him and it says a lot at how Ohm and the crew put a lot of thoughts into his character. In any case, Nanon wins this episode hands-down. I literally felt Pran's pain. His character is so layered yet soft-spoken and I'm so glad we are able to fully experience this, all thanks to the role being in the hands of a very talented actor.

Episode 5: This is my favorite episode by far! So many things happened here without feeling too rushed -- from the "night after" and how Pran quickly bounced back after getting his heart broken, to Pat testing Ink's feelings, to Pat /finally/ realizing his true feelings, and so much more up until the climax at the end with the kiss. My favorite part is definitely towards the end with the Pat-Pran-Wai fistfight and how things are suddenly starting to explode. Pat is ready to risk it all while Pran, even without Pat saying anything explicitly, knows where things are going and he is not ready to deal with it. And finally during the rooftop scene. It was obvious how Pran has his walls built up but it has slowly crumbled down hearing Pat confess. When Pat kissed him, he just gave up and gave in and I love how this moment just feels so raw and intimate. I'm not lying if I said that I literally hear their feelings while kissing -- their emotions during that part was THAT good. Cue to after the kiss when Pran wakes up to his senses again and comes back to his demeanor of being "not ready" and walks away. The last time I cried for a BL was during ATOTS which says a lot; and all credits go to the director and especially OhmNanon, because it didn't feel like them at all, but PatPran coming to life.

Episode 6: I'll be honest and say that nothing major really happened this episode for me, but I still like the pace nonetheless because it's very realistic. Now that I think of it, while this is a romcom so far, I'm getting strong slice-of-life vibes from it which is different from other school BLs that have dramas every episode just for the sake of it. This episode we watch Pran avoiding Pat as he keeps his feelings in check, while Pat does all that he can to step into Pran's walls. The faculty rivalry (and Pran's friends planning to beat Pat up wtf?) is getting too tiring for me now tho, and my only hope is that there's a purpose for this conflict which can lead into a good character development that will help PatPran's relationship in the future. I also find the bet interesting because we know that they already know that they like each other, but their pride and competitiveness against each other that they had all their lives are getting in the way. Anyway I'm not too nervous about this because they'll eventually give up in one way or another, and seeing the preview for episode 7, looks like they're getting there soon! I really enjoyed this episode especially the new OST and ending credits! <3

Episode 7: PatPran boyfriends T-T Anyway before I go into that, this episode highlighted the chemistry between the actors from all the flirting up to their moment in the end. I'm not lying if I said that I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time because their domesticity and back-and-forth banter were so sweet, and if the acting wasn't this good it would have become cringy. Pran teasing Pat was definitely a delight to see after seeing him hurt in the previous episodes, and Pat as always is a very colorful character. What I did not expect to see though (or at least this early) was Wai. Him guilt-tripping Pran into helping him was so uncomfortable to watch and is definitely not a good thing to do even between the closest of friends. I'm interested to see how he would impact PatPran's already delicate relationship seeing how he seems to be a significant character. Finally my favorite part is the ending when Pat gave way for Pran and confessed his feelings. He set aside his pride for Pran and stepped up so they can stop wasting time on their little game, and now they're officially boyfriends T-T

Episode 8: This was the most emotionally-charged episode for me so far, and yes even more than Episode 5. The whole episode is filled with PatPran cute boyfriends scenes, but actually underneath all of that is a conflict that was brewing to happen with a secret that they literally have to hide from everyone, Pran's hesitations, and the differences betwen Pat and Pran's POVs. For me this episode is actually very smart because these sources of conflict were not presented in our face all the time -- it was sometimes masked with fluffy domestic moments, but actually if you watch deeper there is so much more under the surface. The big scene at the end was also a game-changer, and I think this is what will set the tone for the rest of the series.

Episode 9-12: These were a whole rollercoaster of emotions and I thought the ending was such a smart twist! I BAWLED during the end of episode 11 and what I loved is while you see this kind of thing coming, you also don't, so while waiting for the "will they separate will they not", it hit me a lot harder when it finally happened. Again, huge props to Nanon and Ohm's acting! And when the twist at the end was revealed, I LOVED it. It's always my main gripe with mid-show breakups, like how do these people not stay in contact with all these technology? But PatPran went beyond that and was brave enough to devise their plan, living up to their general theme of "fooling the world". I thought it was really smart and realistic too that the parents did not immediately approve, but still optimistic that they will surely get there :)

All in all, I highly recommend this show. A common plot made extraordinary with thoughtful acting and a writing that is full of heart.

Whilst I didn't know much about the story this drama is based on when I came to watch it, and originally I was mainly drawn in by the actors, I couldn't anticipate how much it has stayed with me.

A tragic love story from the start, the journey of Yoon Shim Deok and Kim Woo Jin was hard to watch because of their known inevitable end. However, I still found myself falling hard and becoming emotionally attached to them and their relationship, despite the barriers they faced. No matter what they did, it was obvious this was the only true end for them.

The acting from the main two leads in this I think was perfect. It wasn't over dramatised or unplayed, there were the right amount of emotion from each of them that my heart broke every time they faced a hardship.

The OST isn't incredibly memorable, however it fit perfectly with the story and style. It would have been nice if they sang 'Hymn of Death' rather than read it like a poem, but I understand why they didn't. And because they didn't, I went to do some research and listening of the song myself, which I probably wouldn't have done if it was included in the drama.

Of course this drama is a tragedy, despite this, because the drama is so short I feel I could easily watch it again just to experience its beauty all over again.

I would recommend if you're heart can take the pain of what is to come, and if you appreciate that sometimes love can be strongest in death.

Hi everyone! I would share with you my impressions about this film!
To be honest I was curious about this movie because of cast (mainly for Park Seo Joon) but I had no expectations of it. I've just watched it and I can tell you that this is a really intense and moving film. I really loved the actors' performances and the story was unusual because of topic but really really nice. And even if the movie lasts a little more then 2 hours, I have never fallen asleep or bored! LOL
You'll be surprised how many people will appear in it but there are many beautiful guys so... you have to watch it!!!

One For the Books

I can't explain how much I was moved by the series to the point where I stayed up at the ass crack of dawn to binge-watch. Then to be told that episode 8 would be another few hours hurt to hear, but I waited and waited, and finally, it came out, and my heart is overjoyed with something that I haven't felt for many Japanese BLs. Mr.Unlucky is an extraordinary series full of happiness, speculating luck, and a heartwarming romance.

Let's Dive In.

Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But to Kiss is the story of Kota, a boy born unlucky who has unfortunate circumstances happen to him every day, from falling ceilings to stepping in dog shit, he has to endure it 24/7. Until he meets Naoya, a boy born lucky, who has the best things happen to him anytime he wants them. When Kota finds himself around Naoya, he sees how his bad luck fades away, and he can have a good time. Through a misunderstanding, they both become boyfriends and their lives are forever changed. What initially drew me in was this wacky synopsis that I was curious to see play out on screen. I was a little skeptical at first, going into this with only the synopsis and that's it, but this was a gem. A bright bright gem that I'm so thankful I ventured to. While most of this series was everything I needed and more, there was a key aspect that dimmed my overall joy, but for the most part, this series was as close to perfect as perfect can get.

One thing that Japanese series can do is either be extremely vulgar or super clean and from my understanding, there is no in-between. Even looking at Cherry Magic, a story based around a virgin, was as innocent as ever, and so was Kieta Hatsukoi, with neither shows even showing a kiss between leads, and yet, I still loved them to my fullest potential. Mr. Unlucky happens to fall in the super clean category. Part of me doesn't mind that intimacy doesn't play a big role here, because they were still able to evoke strong feelings out of me without that aspect, but gosh, does it suck not to see the climax of something the writers did so well at building up. Kota and Naoya have built such incredible sensual tension that it's almost infuriating with every passing second Kota avoids kissing Naoya or doing anything else. This series is so prude in itself that it draws back its own ability to be even greater than before, and it sucks. I wish there would've been a moment where Kota finally felt ready to kiss Naoya, and instead, we never get that. Besides a very chaste kiss in the beginning, we the audience are left to fend for our own and make up the rest of their story as it ends.

And while I do complain that intimacy should've played a bigger role here, I can't help but applaud how respectful and patient Naoya was. He kissed Kota in the beginning because that's what his past girlfriends had liked, but he realized Kota was different and was willing to wait to kiss him again until he was ready. Although that moment never happens, it's heartwarming to watch Naoya be so sensual and yet hold himself back for the one that matters to him the most. Consent was superb here, and I will deathly miss it.

Now, getting into their romance, of course, because of it being a misunderstanding, the connection isn't as strong in the beginning as it is in the end. But we get to watch with every passing moment it build and build until we're desperate for more. Getting to watch Kota be happy and do things that he normally keeps himself away from because of his bad luck is another level of rewarding. His smile, the way his eyes light up, his skips and jumps and cheers, it's all very gratifying to see. To see that Naoya is able to bring him something he hasn't had in years. Anytime they were together, my heart was aghast to watch them grow in chemistry and understanding. I was sure that Naoya would have a similar situation as Kota: using him so that his good luck isn't always there and people can stop relying on him. But nope, that's not the case. Naoya just loved Kota from the very second he saw him, and it only grew from there. That is fucking precious. I will miss seeing these two on my screen, only if it were for a day.

Onto the side characters, who were a lot less memorable, but they played helpful roles in getting the leads to where they needed to be. The two best friends were valuable attributes to Naoya who saw them as his real friends and not people needing him for his luck. I was more so intrigued with Miki's story who seemed as positive as ever about love, and Anna, who seemed very negative about love. I have my speculations that the bracelet Miki was wearing somehow stopped her from forming relationships instead of being in one, and once it broke, she seemingly started to realize her feelings for Anna, and it's quite an adventure to take part in. I wish they had more screen time after Miki subtly (but not so subtly) admits her feelings to Anna.

Ratings:

Story: 9 - It's the strongest aspect of the series. It was able to keep me entertained throughout without any skips or FF. The romance is well done, and so is the explanation and the play out of luck and sharing it. I'll only take a star off since I think the romance could've taken that one step further, and instead, the writers hold us back.

Acting: 9.5 - Great! Literally! Sota (Kota) does a fascinating job, playing up the extraness and expressional person that his character was. Sato I learned is a Japanese idol, and in some parts of his acting, it's not as strong as it could be, but still, he does a good job at getting the message of his character across. All the side characters did excellent as well.

Music: 7 - the theme song was good to me! Other than that, I didn't really pay too much attention to it.

Rewatch value: 6 - I could see myself rewatching this whenever I need my heart to flutter for whatever reason.

I don't usually ask for second seasons, cause it's unnecessary and not needed, but I severely hope this gets a second season to wrap up that endearing part of Kota and Noaya that we don't see. I still think there is a story there to tell, and I need it immediately. This had shot up to being my new all-time favorite Japanese BL, and not too far from making an appearance as my top 10 favorite BLs. I will cherish this for as long as I can. I heavily recommend this for anyone interested. If you can take yourself out of the real world and watch this fantastical series that will make you feel every emotion in the book, then give this one a shot.
