we met
I really wanted Lee Jung-jae to kill it in something outside of Squid Game, and while this wasn't a disaster, it definitely felt like a bit of a slog. The setup isn't even bad on paper. You have an aging actor tired of being typecast as a detective who just wants to do a rom-com, paired with a reporter who gets stuck covering him. It should have been a sharp look at the industry, but it just felt a little exhausted from the start.I actually liked that it felt adult for once. It didn't rely on forced skinship or some rushed, fake romance to keep things moving, which was refreshing. But that just makes the male lead's behavior even weirder. He spends half the time throwing literal toddler tantrums, and it’s so jarring. It is hard to fully buy into a "mature" dynamic when one half of the couple is acting like a child.
The writing is a bit of a waste for a cast this good. I adore Lim Ji-yeon because she usually brings so much intensity to her roles, but she is just kind of stranded here. It’s like she is acting in a prestige drama while everyone else is in a sitcom. The only person who actually got the assignment was Jeon Sung-woo. As Director Byeong Gi, he was a total standout and honestly the only person who felt like a human being in this mess.
And I'm not here for the "oppa is too old" or "not hot" complaints. That is just shallow noise that ignores the real failure of the show. The problem isn't his face or his age; it's the fact that the script is a total mess. One minute it's trying to be a serious political thriller and then it jump-cuts to some slapstick about a fake detective show. It tries to talk about fame versus reality but stays so surface-level that it ends up feeling a bit mid.
The final episode was actually one of the better ones, which I appreciated. It finally felt like things were coming together, even if it took too long to get there. Ultimately, there is nothing here that I really hate. It isn't offensive or unwatchable. The real issue is that there is just nothing here to really love. It’s a fine watch, but it feels like a waste of some of the best actors in the business because it never gives you a reason to be obsessed with it.

A good one-time watch.
For a remake/adaptation of a Japanese movie, the thriller component has been exhibited in a much better way. I've watched both the movies and this remake was definitely an upgrade. The actors acted well, but there was scope to juice out better scenes from them which could've looked way more intense. As a thriller movie it lacked the maniacal intensity a tad bit. Watching it the first time was a decent experience. It made for a nice watch while having dinner. But I don't think I'd rewatch it.

Romantic movie when you need one
There is nothing new here- the storyline has been done before many times. But what makes it really work is the actors’ sweet, intensely romantic performances. The two leads have excellent chemistry. The music suits the movie, the sets work well, the supporting actors have little screen time but handle what time they have with ease. If you need something to remind you about the importance of treating our lovers with great care and romance here it is. Highly recommended for those snowy or rainy days to lose yourself in the feeling of being swept away watching a depth of love we all want to find and keep.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Did it manage to be my favorite?!!
This series is cute, funny and so addictive. From the characters to the storyline to it's background music and osts. Damn I love all of it so much. Everything blends and complements the whole setting. The time travel aspect has been used nicely. It's not just a trope that's sidelined as the story progresses, it's the plot in itself. Kawi knows the future and he's trying to amend things says a lot. I am actually glad Kawi's to do list didn't only contain mending love life but also convincing his father for treatment and getting back with his long time friend Max. The overall concept of traveling back in time and finding an unexpected love, it sounds cliche but it's portrayed so nicely and it's interesting.Talking about the characters, Kawii is a confused soul and towards the starting he seemed so selfish but nevertheless he is so cute mahn. Oh damn! the decisions he took made me facepalm myself but then he did feel guilty when he messed things up and he amended it. The way he apologizes, the way he whines, overall the way he behaves around Pisaeng, damn it's filled with cute gestures.
Then we have Pisaeng, this guy right from the very start had my heart. He is such a sweetheart and damn the level of patience he has. He is whipped for Kawii and I am whipped for him. Episode by episode I just liked him more and more. This guy is a walking green flag. He really deserves the world. I can't with both of them. They both manage to shake me up pretty badly T^T. I just can't get enough of them.
And Pearmai, she is sweet, she is friendly, I kind of understand her and she really deserves better. And Max, this guy is the most understanding, reasonable, lovable character plus a great friend and let me add that hairstyle suits him. We seriously need more characters like him. Also the other characters have played their part really well. Like there were so many instances when I wanted to go inside and knock some sense into Knot, sometimes even knock him down. And Kwan, oh my god, I sincerely wanted to see her get over Knot.
And, Yes!! Yes!! this did manage to be one of my favorites. They are so sweet. I love them. The pacing of the story is good, the plot is interesting, the osts are good and so are the characters. Highly recommended!!

Impressive right !! Why all Jimmysea dramas are fabulous ?? Ohh yeah I discovered another gem .
This drama is really fantastic and is different from others , Romance have played an important role here ofc cuz it's a romantic bl lolIn this drama both the leads are cute and flirty they both understood the problems and faced it together throughout the whole series. Ep 6 and ep 9 are the best episodes according to me . Another interesting thing is that the episodes of this series are named after different tarot cards depending upon what's gonna happen in the episode . This series somehow create a little suspense in some episodes about the plot who is trying to kill Dr. Thap .
I found it more interesting when In posted a photo of their hands in his insta writing “ I found my home in you ”
And then Dr thap commented on In 's post “ You're my magic prophecy ”
At the end I want every bl fan to watch this drama it's interesting , very romantic and the leads are veryyyyy cuteee

CHOKUNASTON❤️❤️read till end btw
i would give up both my arms for chokunaston, even though there’s only been 1 ep every time they smile at eachother i am genuinely tweaking out
i am going to save up all my money so if and when chokunaston become an official gmmtv couple i want to buy their mascot keychain because this obsession is becoming too real
other than chokunaston, mickluke is actually quite sweet aswell. i appreciate kit in boys in love, what a professional procrastinator (too real). also micks character is literally so real aswell because like him i suck at playing games
also… whoever decided to give THE BARCODE TINNASIT ISARAPONGPORN an ost for boys in love, i want their hand in marriage because ‘lesson 1’ is one of the BEST osts ive heard. wouldn’t of expected anything less from barcode
im so looking forward to the rest of the episodes and also podpapangs storyline. this will be the highlight of my week im prophesying it
UPDATE FROM EP7!!!!
GUYS WTF!!!!!!! now tell my why this is the most amazing the most perfect youth drama gmmtv has like ever created. LIKE why did i never mention kenpaul earlier because guys im not even kidding, they are like the 2nd best thing which has ever happened to me like they’re so silly and i reckon they should have more screen time. AND THOSE GODDAMN TEACHERS😫😫guys if you’re reading this not sure if you should watch boys in love. all you have to do is go on to astons tiktok lives or his twt- OR just search up Chokunaston and oh my god guys you will EASILY be convinced into watching this. aston is actually too chronically online and he’s exposed himself too many times. tell me why you wouldn’t want to watch that?
oh and also regarding osts i love shot clock, bro the mv is so cute i cant even watch it anymore. also,,, lukemicks ost is lowk so good! not entirely sure how i feel abt micks singing (no offence) but luke surprisingly pulled through and like kinda ate ngl…
to be honest the only downside i have is that i feel like kitshanes screen time is a bit dragged out in a few episodes (ONLY SOMETIMES) and shane kind of just brings negative energy, but i understand thats just his character. i still love kitshane guys dont get me wrong, i just wanna see more teachers😔ONE LAST THING!!!! the montages when they go to like the aquarium or literally any sort of montage in boys of love is surprisingly like a cinematic masterpiece like BRO THIS IS CRAZY!!! like i’m not being dramatic but gmmtv really pulled through with the quality and i haven’t been bored of a single montage (usually i am with most shows) but these montages are just 😍😍😝🤭🥰especially all the chokunaston moments I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
anyways i’ll update my final review in a few more weeks😝😝
final update: this show don’t get me wrong is really good but honestly i haven’t even finished it, i’ve only got ep 12 to go and i genuinely can’t find a purpose in watching it, im just not interested to find out how it ends, and i can add kind of assume. the plot itself is actually not very good, it’s okay. BUT the individual episodes are all really fun and the quality is pretty good actually. i loved chokunaston but sometimes and poddpapang but their screen time was actually awful. micks character pissed me off and kit idk… i think luke’s acting was pretty good though, but i think it’s relatively easy to tell that this is a first project for most. i did like ken paul but then pauls character pissed me off then it threw me off a bit, idk to me they always just felt like best friends…it’s still worth a watch and i 100% think it’s very good as a comfort show or at least a youthful show. but honestly everything in life is pissing me off atm and i’m convinced nothing will be more peak than only boo. overall though i did enjoy the show, but definitely it starts off really strong but then when it gets to the middle ish it just feels like Oh, it’s definitely not bad, but if you decide to go on holiday and have 3 weeks off without watching any series, then maybe like me, you won’t have any sort of motivation to watch the last episode.
anyways sorry for the extremely long review it’s been fun updating this. don’t listen to this review, this is more like a diary for me. Or you can listen to it, i mean all in all its positive but if you think that poddpapang will get more than 3 minutes per ep, then im so sorry 😖depending what mood you’re in this might be the most perfect thing for you, it helped me get through my gcses but rn the only thing i seem to want to watch is nothing, because im so lazy and all i do is doomscrolling and checking my twt for khemjira updates. if anyone has any advice on how to stop doomscrolling and become productive and get a life, pls let me know! anyways i think im done now. bro no one’s even gonna read all this wtf am i even doing😭😭

Strangely amazing
I really came into this not expecting much. The description sounded enticing, so I decided to try it out. After finishing, I can honestly say I'm quite dumbfounded. It was awesome in its own weird way, and I don't think I've ever watched a show that has made me laugh in confusion and disbelief more than this show has (in a good way).Liked:
- Great acting by everyone in this show! Especially loved SGH has Yeo Reum, as he played his character very convincingly. Not to say everyone else didn't do an equally great job, it's just that he stood out to me the most with his crazy character.
- Well done action shots and fighting scenes, I was really impressed that it was this good for a miniseries. And the guns weren't blurred! Yay!
- Quirky music that felt out of place, but fit really well given what the drama is going for. It lightened the mood, even in the darkest situations.
- Dark comedy is done really well! I enjoyed that aspect of the show greatly.
- Great intensity in the second half!
- Just the overall quirky vibe mixed with action/thriller was something right up my alley.
Disliked:
- A certain common trope was used, which I didn't really care for. It didn't matter too much, but it was just a little annoying/unnecessary. That's the only really tropey thing in this show though.
- I won't dive into this spoiler, but I was really confused/annoyed by a certain part of the show in the second half. Like I'm not sure what really happened there, but if it didn't happen, things could've ended up drastically different.
- First half definitely pales in comparison to the second half.
As for this show's rewatch value, I'd say it's very rewatchable! It's pretty short, so I'm looking forward to rewatching it later with better quality subs.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this show if you want to watch a great quirky teen action show. I do wish it was longer so that we could find out everyone's backgrounds a little more, but given the length of this show, I'm very satisfied. If you were looking for a more romance-centered show, this may not be the show for you, as romance was definitely not a focus of the drama (the romance is there but it's not your typical lovey-dovey romance drama). Well, that was my first review, so I hope it was helpful for you. Adios!

I don't want China to stop making BLs
The amount of butterflies I got in my stomach while watching this drama was insane. The main attractiveness of this drama is The POWER BOTTOM ? Ohhh yeah the characters are so handsome that sometimes I forgot to breathe . What a beautiful storyline ! What a beautiful acting ! Woah . The slow burn is S L O W B U R N I N G . And one the most beautiful part is the cinematography. It's really awesome.I love it when two polar opposite people start to like each other. And the 1980s theme made it more special.
What made ' Sammy's Children's Day ' more likable ?
A. Excellent story plotline. Something new , Something unique. ( Not some typical soft romance )
B. The strong MAIN CHARACTER ..... ( Said goodbye to stereotypes )
C. Beautiful background music .
D. Talented actors who made those side characters interesting too.
If the starting of 2026 is like this then I can wait for it every year . Go and try it , you will definitely like this drama a lot . 10/10 recommended.

Don't miss it
The reason i created an MDL account is to tell everyone not to miss this gem. This is one of those dramas that you think you'll just overlook since you think you already watch far too many school dramas. And you thought you can start it because theres no other thing to do on your spare time. But then you'll realize what a big mistake you've done because you havent start it sooner. The story of how you overcome challenges and see the world in a new light is what makes this drama so close to realty. The romance is not overbearing, its fluffy highschool love. Theres a strong sense of camaraderie and there are no unrealistic villains or unbelievable evil arc.
The OST is the best, i have not been impressed with cdrama OST since Go go squid until this one. And I know i will rewatch this again...

Honestly beside Huo Wallace I did not know any of these actors and I have to admit that they were all doing a great job and their portrayals were so convincing and natural.
I'm not going to dwell on the synopsis cause it already says the most important but we surely all know the damages Wars cause(d) and I think it's interesting to see how Chinese people were living during those terrible times and what they had to go through. The drama focuses on the Hu Family and their son in-law Xue Jun Shan, how they coped with the constant Japanese attacks in their Changsha town. And even if my knowledge about the Sino-Japanese wars is weak I think this drama was really well done even the music here fitted perfectly with the general atmosphere.
Many things crossed my mind when I was watching the drama, first I said it earlier but I have to repeat myself everything was realistic and that was my very first thought, I loved to see that even if the Hu family was living a pretty good life (without being super rich either) but they did not wear extravagant and exquisite clothes they simply lived in harmony , enjoying their life in their house all together, eating, working, taking care of each other etc.
Frankly speaking the character that surprised me the most was Xue JunShan, he seemed to be very harsh with his in-laws but actually that was the opposite he cared for them he protected them, he loved them to the point to sacrifice his life for them, he considered them as the most precious things in his life and that is the reason why I loved him so much and why he is my favorite character + I have to say it, I have a thing for older men I found something very appealing about them and that is the case for him too <3
Now it's time to say a few words about the Hu family, Xiang Xiang was my favorite especially the way she evolves throughout the drama and I think that war would change everyone and according to me she's the one who changed the most, she became an outstanding and respectable woman, I have nothing bad to say about her, definitely lovely, bright, cute and very strong but she has a weakness and that is her twin brother I mean their sibling bond is so deep and unwavering, at least that's how I perceived them and I guess that is probably the same with almost all twins of the world.
I loved rhe other characters too especially Gu QingMing( I seriously fell in love with Huo Wallace in this drama, I liked him before but this time he blew me away <3), the grandma, XiangJun, Liu Minghan Xiu Xiu and the rest( I will stop here so if you want to find out why they are fabulous people just watch the drama you'll surely like it as much as I did ). I can't even count the tears I shed for all of these characters, I felt like I was part of their family, that's why Battle of Changsha broke my heart even more than other dramas.
As for the theme song ''I'll remember you'' it is a pure delight, Yang Zi's voice blends so well with Huo Wallace's that we can't stop listening to it and we want more and more. Too bad I can't seem to find it anywhere ! Please If you know where I can download it, tell me :D
I would recommend this drama to everyone even if you're not into this genre because that is not my case and still I enjoyed every minute of this wonderful show. Furthermore this is definitely one of the best Family drama I've ever watched. Just only one thing you must know if you plan to watch it: the last four eps are not subbed and so you would have no choice but to watch it raw or wait but for how long?!
PS: the big plus is that the actors's voices were not DUBBED, what a pleasure !

NON-SPOILER OVERVIEW: I stand by my huge love for the first 3/4s of this drama. Though I was disappointed by the end, a large part of that disappointment came from the start being so good. Because despite the cliches, it's not a bad ending or anything like that. Against other romcoms I think it's above average, it just feels worse because of what came before. I still recommend it too! For the friendships, for the fluttering romance, for the unconventional story, for the way it feels like I'm watching real people. It's heartfelt and sweet but do be warned that the show you begin watching will not be the show you finish watching. Prepare yourself for averageness creeping in at around ep 12? 13? and you'll be fine! SPOILERS BELOW!
This review was so hard to write so to solve this confusion I'll just go by the trusted method: LISTS!
Things Done Well:
- JI HO (mostly). I related really heavily with Jiho at the beginning of the drama making me immediately attached. Plus her refreshing habit of speaking her mind so bluntly but not unkindly was literally the most innovative thing this drama did in regards to typical female kdrama leads so, props to them. I faltered a little when her big dream turned out to be love not writing but I realise that's just a personal thing so I won't judge much for that. I faltered MORE when her personality as established seemed to up & disappear 3/4 into the season? Why? Where did my Jiho go and who left this generic imposter in her place? Disappointing doesn't begin to cover it.
- SOO JI. Flawless. Perfect. Loving. Sexy AF but also cute AF. The duality of woman. We love to see it. Enjoyed her growth so so much from being v closed off & afraid of commitment to fully falling into it. From being afraid to catch her dreams because of her mum to daring to *because* of her mum. Unlike Jiho, she loses none of her personality and characteristics once she's in a relationship. Thank god.
- SE HEE. I'll just say it. Sehee's idea of a relationship/marriage - boundaries, respect, open communication and support & minus the guilt, expectations & empty promises that could lead to bitterness later - is exactly my idea of a relationship. I loved him from the moment he told Jiho's mum he wouldn't promise to protect her and it did not diminish the entire show. He's a little odd but I found that hugely endearing. Here's a personal ty from me to Sehee for now having someone to refer to when anyone asks me about my ideal man. Just throw in some of Sang Goo's dorkiness and I'll be hook, line & sinker.
- FEMALE FRIENDSHIP. These are women who unfailingly love, support and trust one another. No pointless drama. No high tension. No boring bitchiness. When I think of my friends I think of the kind of easy companionship and in-jokes that these three have and any scenes involving the trio were my absolute favourites.
- AN "ADULT" STORY. No I don’t mean x-rated lol. For once I watched these adults and felt like I was watching real adults and not (as many romcoms usually have) hormonal teenagers in adult bodies.
- HO RANG X WON SEOK. (mostly). Because they love each other they refused to see or talk about their incompatibility until it literally grew too big and awful to ignore. I really liked it because I believed their relationship and how it progressed. I say mostly because I'm unsure about their conclusion... I'm not against them getting back together, I just wish if that was their endgame they had broken up earlier in the drama so we had more time to watch them grow. As it stands, their break up this time was literally no different to any other break up except now Ho Rang has a chart. Wow. Growth.
Things Done Bad:
- Jiho & her characterisation falling off the face of the planet. Literally this was the worst thing the drama did because it made the finale boring. It also made me realise how much of the drama is built around how refreshing Jiho & her friends & Sehee are and with her gone it left the puzzle incomplete and me unsatisfied.
- Reduced Trio appearances. Like I said above, the trio and their scenes together were the best parts of the drama and towards the end the trio's screentime together pretty much disappeared. I HATED IT.
- The whole stalker storyline. I'll just link to my post about my thoughts on that mess: https://mydramalist.com/profile/kdramafeminist/feeds/WAN22I3
- Jiho's inner monologue going from through-provoking & interesting to nonsensical and pretentious.
- A story that began as something unique and avoiding cliches eventually devolving into the exact cliches it was avoiding. LETS NUMBER THEM!
1. FL speaks her mind? Nope, lets just have her being ~vague~ bc cliche!
2. Open communication between the couple? Nope, let's just have them not have a normal conversation outta nowhere and for no reason bc cliche!
3. Couple breaks up because their life goals don't match and realise love doesn't always mean marriage? Nope, lets have them back together after like a month with literally nothing changing regarding their individual life goals bc cliche!
4. ML is an introverted, dorky type and that's fine? Nope, let's give him a pointless, macho, hero scene to prove he's worthy as the lead! Bc cliche!
5. Current FL and ML's ex get along because the ex has completely moved on in life so working together is reasonable? Nope, let's have Jiho turn down the job offer because she chose "love" even those there was no tension on-screen between any of them, bc cliche!
Overall, I'm glad I watched it! I enjoyed more than I didn't but sadly its missteps means it won't be going into my favourites or mentions lists. The drama as a whole might not have stolen my heart, but individually it gave me amazing characters that 100% did & that's a compromise I'm fine with!

In the land of the scorpion the rooster is king.
This drama adapts Wei Yu's well loved romantic and suspenseful adventure novel Xī Chū Yù Mén /西出玉门 or West out of the Yumen (Jade Gate). The spirited and mysterious Ye Liuxi's first waking memory is of the desert with scant personal belongings to point to who she was and where she is from. A picture links her to Chang Dong, who lost all he held dear in that same patch of sand. Liuxi persuades Chang Dong to return to that most treacherous part of the desert with her. Together with a team of three others, they set out to crack the mystery of the Yumen Pass. On their quest to face their past, they stumble into a different, frightening and dangerous world where they find love, adventure, friendship and betrayal. The most fabulous thing about this drama is that Ye Liuxi is a force of nature that simply sweeps you away with her beauty, strength and charisma. It is a role that must have been written for Ni Ni, whose portrayal of Liuxi is nothing short of iconic. Bai Yu's rendition of Chang Dong's quiet might and reserved brilliance is the perfect foil for Liuxi's more vivid personality. Their chemistry is so natural and shockingly scrumptious that I replay most of their couple scenes with a silly, lovesick grin on my face. I now have a whole new appreciation for Bai Yu's hotness. The other two romances are quite cute and endearing but neither is compelling or even necessary. Skipping or toning down one or both of these secondary romances could have helped the pacing of this drama.
The acting, rapport and comedic timing of the main cast is terrific and a heavier focus on their friendship over romance would have been no less enjoyable. It was a lot of fun to watch them humorously pull off their clone geminus selves. It is nice to see Jin Han in his element again as a misguided and flawed character. Lu Yuxiao makes an impression again as a young actor to watch. I also found both Gao Shen and Ding Liu's kick ass youthful exuberance a joy to watch. Sadly Meng Ziyi is the biggest let down in the cast. Long Zhi is an interesting role, a character with a world vision and the ruthlessness to achieve it. Sadly Meng Ziyi delivers a shallow and uninspired interpretation with two expressions - stone-faced and pissed off. She manages to turn a layered character into a cardboard and archetypal one. I used to wonder why such a lovely and charming actor didn't get more lead roles. Now I know.
Where this drama falters is in the pacing and narrative style. The transitions between sub-plots are not well handled with abrupt cuts to a side romance or worse, the narrator and the painter in the middle of action scenes or as momentum is building nicely into an interrupted reveal. The world within the Yumen Pass itself is well designed, rich in history and lore and occupied by dangerous and fascinating characters. The world building mostly takes place via exposition and usually right before the viewer needs that information. This kind of heavy foreshadowing diminishes the surprise factor in what comes next. This also comes with few pay-offs; in the end all I really needed to know is that in the land of the scorpion the rooster is king.
Even though this drama wraps up nicely with no major loose ends, the ending is anti-climatic. With one notable exception, most characters have fitting endings. However, the climax on the action adventure side takes place very early in the drama and the main romance peaks shortly after the mid-point. After that, the pieces of the puzzle fall into place and the plot seems to build towards a final, badass showdown that doesn't quite materialise. The writers decided it is better to jaw jaw than to war war which would be fine if this weren't a fantasy action adventure. I am also miffed that my thirst for justice and symmetry that demands some serious loss of limbs is not satisfied, nary a hair was even harmed! I console myself with the fact that the roosters once again show the scorpions who is the boss!
This is a must watch drama for just Ni Ni and Bai Yi's acting and chemistry alone. If anyone else were in the lead roles, I would only rate this an 8.0/10.0 but I am bumping my rating up to an 8.5 to recognize their riveting performances.

A wonderful "slice of life" drama that isn't for everyone's taste
I rarely write reviews for dramas since I consider that everyone's taste is different and we don't have to and can't like the same things. However, this drama made me write my first review here.
I'll start by saying that this (as I've seen in the comments) is a "love it" or "hate it" drama, with no in-between.
I, for one, adored it.
It's rare to see such true depiction of real relationships and real human emotions with all their pettiness, frustration, sadness, joy and all that comes when loving another.
It's such a fresh drama that shows the viewer what happens in all stages of a relationship and isn't stopping just at "they lived happily ever after" or "they broke up and that's it".
In my opinion, the viewer has to be in a proper state of mind to watch this drama. Also, a certain amount of life experience might be of help in order to understand it, maybe.
A well made "slice is life" drama with good, bad, funny and sad moments that was really well acted and made me admire Seo Kang Joon even more (his portrayal of Junyoung was amazing) and love and understand Esom's Youngjae and all the other characters.
Life doesn't have a liniar flow. There's always something that will shake us to our core and either make us or breake us and this drama shows this in a very human way.

I WANT MORE!
What others think as its weakness, i think is its strength - for me the short length of the series is whats makes me yearn for more.Lets cut to the chase - lets discuss the good things. First is the story, yes its nothing out of the ordinary but the non-school/university is refreshing for a BL. I also like shows which dont try to explain everything as if viewers are kids. I also liked the pacing.
Second, the cute charismatic leads - have you seen Kang in Soo's body? Third, the soundtrack. Fourth, the production and the photography.
The only bad part i can think of is that they left me wanting more.
The last few Korean BLs were all short and sweet and all deserve to be expanded into full blown series. For now, im just glad that they are producing more and more of these and hopefully the day for normal Korean series featuring LGBTQ characters will come sooner.
Overall, an 8! Easy to watch, easy to rewatch.

Local country gays breaking free from Brokeback Mountain story trope
This rare gem reminded me of a queer British film "God's Own Country" directed by Francis Lee in 2017. However Restart is so much milder than G.O.C, as this film mainly explores on Mitsuomi's character development and his interaction with local people in his hometown. The resemblances of both films: The chilly picturesque countryside scenic. The use of warm lighting in some titular scenes and soft instrumental music. The gradual transition from cold to warm atmosphere as the story goes. The relationship of main country gay with his parents. The main country gay struggling with life and unwillingly getting involved with another country gay. The gentle coaxing and nurture of one country gay towards the main country gay into submission. The cosy nesting of one country gay's head onto the other country gay's shoulder in a bus/train ride home.
Yuuki Furukawa and Ryo Ryusei's acting as Mitsuomi and Yamato felt rather natural and viewers could easily relate or empathise with their characters. Yuuki's version of Mitsuomi is a resemblance of the manga version (in both mannerism and the voice). Ryo's version of Yamato is more of a goofy sunshine-boy country bumpkin that enlightens every scene possible. The acting from other actors are great as well and their interaction with both mains blend in easily.
All in all, the soundtracks suit accordingly to most scenes and the story plot is well-timed. Although with some minor plot changes and introduction of new characters, the film allows Yamato's backstory with more depth and Mitsuomi's conversation with his father more heart-warming - it is a faithful adaptation of the manga and a realistic representation of how younger generations nowadays feel towards themselves, their family responsibility and the societal expectation.
This film deserves a sequel as it should be.
