Great series, despite the fact that it didn't take advantage of its much greater potential.
To begin this series, I waited until it was almost completed. It's definitely worth waiting to binge a little at a time. I give props to both the writer and the production team. I was really impressed with how well-made the show was. Every once and again, I feel we are treated to a series that rises above even the highest average show.IMO, what makes QOT work are the leads. The leads are excellent. For much of the show, they lock you into their world with their acting prowess. Kim Hyun and Kim Ji-woo pretty much carry the series. The solid writing and crisp direction blend with many of the smooth and kind of jazzy OSTs.
I could go on and on. With that said, with all of the positive things, I did have some issues. I actually gave the show an 8.5, which for me is great! But it's more like an 8.7 or 8.8. So, I guess 9.0. There were a couple times in the 16 episodes I found myself thumbing through my phone. With all its great performances and moving episodes, there were small points of predictability and "convience" for the plot.
We can debate for the next 10 years about the happy vs. sad ending. But I will say that if he or she had died by episode 15, yes, it would have upset many, but it may have also, if done right, unleashed a floodgate of tears and emotions among fans. At no point in the series was I convinced or concerned that anyone could die. Especially after Baek Woo getting hit at 40 miles an hour by a car and ran away from the hospital, on foot...
Overall, the performances, the production, and most of the writing superseded the small issues. Anyone can nick pick, but some of the "pickyness" couldn't be ignored.

"Squid Game/Round 6" tells the story of Seong Gi Hoon (Lee Jung Jae), a broken man who lives with his mother and has many debts to pay because of his addiction to gambling. The life of Gi Hoon changes when he met a man who presents an opportunity to earn a lot of money participating in a secret game. What Gi Hoon didn't know is his life and the life of others 455 people would be at risk because of that.
We can see a lot of references in this drama, as "Matrix", "Saw", "Hunger Games"... I read a lot of reviews telling about copy, but I don't think this is the case. It's impossible to talk about survivor games without reply some aspects from other productions, but "Squid Game" has its particularities, which I can't mention here because it is a no-spoiler review. I was a little hesitant to start this because I heard so many bad reviews mentioning the violence and wrong ideas that I was scared, but now that I finished I really don't understand these critics.
Of course, is a violent drama, and the age-rated is the point that confirms this, but if you watched any other horror movie or even some heavier action movie (John Wick sent his regards), you won't be impersonated at all. It isn't the kind of k-drama that the romantic ones who just watch dramas because of their sweetness and softness would like. It is heavy, but nothing absurd to people above 16 who have a clear mind at the moment. So, if you are passing through something heavy in your life and don't feel comfortable watching violent scenes or a dystopic story, save this for later or for never. I just watched because I was feeling okay, but I would wait for sure if it was a few weeks ago.
I'm doing this review more like an alert because the internet is full of reviews and comments about it. My considerations are: The story is amazing. The performances are incredible. I don't know if I want a second season. If you have children, don't let them watch it. Even if your kid is pretty mature, that are some things that they don't need to watch, and the age-rated is made for this.
This is a chosen one (★ ★ ★ ★ ★★ ★ ★ ★ ★) for sure, and now I'll come back to my silly romances until the blood dries out of my brain.
See you soon!
XOXO, Mari.

Sorry not sorry
This bl was just bland and boring for me. The acting was mid but the story fell flat for me. Everything was just out of place and to a point certain dramatisation of the story was wrong. I just couldn't make a sense of the story and that made it frustrating for me. I just felt like it was a total waste of time. I couldn't even watch them in our skyy. And then there was chemistry between the actors but it just couldn't save the day i mean Akk and Ayan’s scenes can’t carry this series on their back. Their chemistry cant make up for the lack of story. In all it was such a disappointment. it started so well and went downhill so fast. the final was so boring everything sucked except acting of casts and alittle bit of firstkhao chemistry. i loved casual intimacy of their couple and the uniforms were also boring

One of the best I've seen
I love the story really a lot. It's not an unusual concept in kdramas, that they are special to each other, but in BLs where always all are about engineers or doctors, then, well, probe and mono are something new.I really hope that there will be a second season because the last episode left a lot of unanswered questions, but guess I can read the novel too to get answers early.
I can honestly say that I will rewatch it, probably many times, lamenting how short the story is.
And despite the actors being relatively new, they pulled it really heroically. The main Yeonwoo, I could really belive he that he had no other choice than to do it. And Yoohan's actor was the same. steady perfomances slightly getting better towards the end :)
For me this drama was something I had really enjoyed watching and I'm looking forward to second season, hoping that it would be now full-length.

Train to Busan makes all of that feel like child's play. I was on the edge of my seat from the very beginning, and there were times I was practically screaming at the tv screen. I watched this with 2 friends and all of us were freaking out the entire time. What makes it scarier is that people don't really become zombies -- they become infected with a virus that just wants to spread. They're not flesh-eating, but they will do whatever it takes to spread the virus. It reminded me a lot of World War Z, especially because infected people move with almost superhuman speed and without a care for pain or destruction to their bodies.
The acting in this film was phenomenal. Every single cast member did a great job. Sometimes I cried, sometimes I wanted to scream, but most of the time I found myself just completely engrossed in the action and relationships that were developing (and dissolving) as everyone on the train to Busan fought desperately for survival. The ending made me ugly cry, and I truly didn't expect that from a "zombie" film. This was so well done and I can't help but recommend it to everyone that I speak to.

Skinshipy high school drama
I won't get into much detail because I rarely get inspiration to write a review lately, but I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of skinship and kisses and 0 awkwardness between the leads considering this is a high school drama, it even got a bed scene? School 2017 and its approximately 0 kisses could never.I loved all the characters with all their flaws and even the evil ones. Besides KSJ turning into a b*tch, I feel like everyone had a reason to be. I hated what they did to KSJ but the redemption kind of felt good, although pretty rushed.
LJG and LSH are definitely meant for each other and I loved how their relationship was really pure, genuine and healthy, despite the parting and occasional secrets. HSJ definitely deserved better and my heart hurt for him a lot, but I agree with some commenters saying that him and JG weren't really a good match. I know they date for a long while in the webtoon, but for what we got in the drama, they would just not match.
I'm with most people on this: it wasn't the best drama, wasn't all that great, many clichés and ridiculous moments, but I enjoyed it a lot and it kept me watching for a long while. It's still very funny to me that all LJG had was some acne, pinkish skin and eyebrows, yet people acted like she transformed herself 100%. Still, I would recommend this drama for a light and fun watch with some drama going on.

However, the movie didn't handle the story very well. Sure, the main plot about two young students falling in love even though one of them is deadly sick, is common, especially in the japanese repertoir. This movie had the strange illness to demonstrate and use as their tool to seperate themselves from the others out their. However, they did not used it at all. They showed some scenes here and there, but didn't elaborate on it. Also, the emotional scenes were a bit blunt.
In the end, the movie is quite forgetable, so five out of ten.

Well done...Not sure why others didn't like it...
I am not going to go into spoiler territory or, retell the story...I just want to say that I really enjoyed this series. It was believable. It stayed in its lane and used every character. While we could see what may happen, the writers handled it well enough so, we weren't yelling at the screen when things went wrong for a character or, characters we cared about.Loved the grandmother. She had heart and watched everything unfold and only occasionally stepped in to guide it. The father didn't understand and gave up too early. But, with everyone else's help - found his way. You could see why people did what they did and where their mistakes were made - loved that we got to see them own it and learn from them.
This one will stay in my library so, I can go back to favorite episodes. It isn't easy to open yourself up when you have spent so long protecting yourself from hurt. Happy to see this one unfold in an acceptable timeline and while they may have gone too far in the current trend of let's everyone be gay by time the credits roll - it's forgivable since we end up liking everyone involved.

I really liked the drama. I‘ve always searched for some dramas that had some connection with childhood stories. If you like childhood friends stories, then you have to watch it! It’s so cute! I really liked both FL and ML. Although their acting wasn’t stable every time, it was still okay.
But I give a 10/10 to the music, the music really caught my ears. Even after some days I still sing or hum it. I just can’t get over the music!
And I did like the end, but it was too weird. When He Zhen and the Deputy Lord died, they immediately switched to the scene to the marriage. I wanted to know, what happened with Zhao Cuo. He had blood overall of his face.
As a summary, I would give a 9/10.
I‘ll definitely watch it again!!!!!!!!!

perfect
I think after watching so many k-dramas, c-dramas, I feel this was pretty good one for 2023, as I think the story line is as simple as our life, we general humans make mistakes and regret. According to me not all people are able to express themselves clearly this is the same case as FL. I loved the quality, ups and down and flow of characters. In real life a company owner never marries an average girl or a rich working women never marries a simple boy. this is just our imagination, lets enjoy it.Was this review helpful to you?
