It had potential

Based on the mdl summary, i thought the story would center about the sheepskin book. But no, the book appears for like 3 mins and it's suddenly turned into student-teacher romance. Then last minutes to ending they start to talk about the book.
Tbh the idea was great, but executed very poorly.

Music that were used just really random. But the song in the ending credits was good.

Overall, it's an okay watch.
I was watching this for Jane, and i didn't get disappointed with her acting. She looks really cute and portray her character nicely.
However I don't like the story. I didn't understand what's going on until the last 30 mins of the movie.

I won't recommend this to anyone actually, unless you're just too bored and had nothing to watch.

The director has to juggle 5 plot threads in almost 2 hours. The movie handled this well, I appreciated the tales even with their limited time, as k-stories always shine when they’re simple relatable narratives of pure love and good humor. The film avoided getting messy which worked both to its advantage and its detriment. As it didn’t have time to delve into something deeper, it failed to tug my heartstrings, and left some unexplained things. The ensemble cast is stellar, starting with a good performance from ever likable Cha Tae Hyun. Overall Because I Love You is enjoyable enough to spend a few hours with, but you’ve probably already forgotten it once you pick up your next k-ent fix.

Its never the power, but the choices!

Technically speaking, it's just the same repetitive story of young adults, each with different superpowers coming up together to compete against each other, coming out of their shelled home to experience their world, to realise that just because you are the top of your sect doesn't mean you are the top of the world, there are greater and more powerful talents. Yet at the end of the tunnel lie the challenges that they must face United. Cause no matter how competitive they are against each other, each of them fight for their cause of protecting their loved ones.
But what makes these yet repetitive stories unique, maybe the implementation of it. Was it presented comprehensive enough to make it enjoyable for the viewers? Did it have elements that made it a binge-watch for the viewers? Yes. It was, for me atleast!
Trying out modern martial arts+superpower drama was a new for me. Considering the fact that I already dropped it in first 5 mins for 3 times consecutively, since I wasn't prepared enough to experience something new. But anyways, finally managed to persist this time, and voila! It didn't disappoint, I would have missed such a treasure. The comedy was fulfilling to the point that I am still suffering from stomachache. Yet, the tragedies were sad too! It was so well-put, as if the author wants us to face the reality of tragedies, helplessness, sadness, yet at the end wants to give us hope to live optimistic!
The characters were individual. Normally, some dramas often fail deliver every individual as powerful, just to highlight the main lead, but that wasn't the case here. Besides having different powers, each of them have well set character sketch that integrates well with their powers show casing how their powers influence their personality and vice-versa.
You know those moments, when each character is interesting to the point that you look forward to their scenes, their interactions like everything about them. And ladies and gentlemen, yes, the dynamics between characters never failed, literally never!
The CGI and camera angles were well done. The fight scenes were smooth, and precise! So huge hats off to all the actors as well as the stuntmen, for pulling off their roles so well in these scenes. There were certain editings and inserts in the story that was well done, giving a closure to every single character even in this 27 episode pack! Heavy applauses for this implementation!
There were so many storylines to follow, so it was fun to see these youth reaching the fork path of choices, their growth, their choices. The plot had mysteries to follow which kept viewers intrigued until the end. And still, until the end the mystery wasn't exactly completely solved. There are many questions yet to be answered, many secrets yet to be unfolded leaving a space for season 2. And yeah. I heard they are filming season 2 currently!

This is a drama that should have been everything - except it wasn't. Heavily promoted, it featured a great cast, a killer OST, featured an awesome female lead character, and was based off of a popular online novel which in recent years has pretty much meant guaranteed success. And commercially wise, I suppose it was quite successful as it broke a number of records streaming wise, but the production team pretty much failed all other aspects of storytelling.

Story
Even if you haven't watched the drama, you've probably heard some of the controversy - they essentially only took about 3/4 (maybe not even...more like a little more than a half) of the original story for the drama. Which just screams, "What in the world were they thinking?" How can anyone have greenlighted this project and said, "Hey, you know what, we're just going to end the drama on a total cliffhanger without a guarantee at all there will be a second season. Better yet, let's include a bunch of useless filler storylines to drag out the middle part of the story even more since we're not telling the whole story anyways." ??? Rule number one for drama production teams - never do multiple seasons for dramas if you have a popular cast that you haven't already bound by contract to bring back (props to the team behind Ode to Joy for  realizing this, btw) . Rule number two - if you can tell the whole story in one season, don't drag it out because it just hurts the quality.

The first half of the drama was pretty good - it features an awesome female lead who is multi-dimensional and is willing to claw her way to survive. She's not a Mary Sue - she can have moments where she seems heartless and cold, but she's also had a terrible life and thus has a different world view than most girls her age. The tone of the drama is darker than most because of the heavy material in the story, and I did enjoy that aspect. I have no idea why they added so much nonsense in the second half - for a drama that should have been moving along super fast considering how much plot it needed to cover, the pacing was ridiculously slow.

I was fascinated by the premise of the story and hated how the drama handled it, so I actually went back and read the novel, which I never do, because reading full length novels in Chinese is a bit of a chore for me. I'm glad I did though, because it filled the gaps nicely and at least I can picture in my head how this should have ended. But it also lended a different perspective to the love triangle - I'm not a fan of how the drama skewed it. If you read the novel, this should have been a tale of two loves for our lead, Chu Qiao - the first would be Yan Xun, and the second would be Yuwen Yue. However, the drama pretty much portrayed it so you would be rooting for Yuwen Yue all the way through, which I think does Chu Qiao a disservice. Part of the whole point of the story is her understanding of what love is and how it evolves over time - so that was disappointing. I'm particularly sad we didn't get to see all the cute, truly squee-worthy moments between her and Yuwen Yue becasue I think I pretty much grinned my way through the end of the novel.

But nitpicking over the depiction of the love triangle would be a moot point since the story was incomplete to begin with. Again, I have no idea who thought that would be a great idea. I don't even know if they would have enough material to cover a season 2, to be honest, without dragging things out significantly. If you enjoyed the premise of the story and can read Chinese (or find a translation), go read the novel and get yourself some closure.

Cast
What a waste of a great (young) cast - obviously this isn't one of those dramas with a stellar veteran crew, but the young(ish) leads all have some decent acting chops.

It's amazing how far Zhao Li Ying has come in just a short number of years - she's one of a handful of actresses who stars in exclusively heroine-centric dramas (Princess Agents, Rookie Agent Rouge, Journey of Flower, the upcoming Glamorous Times and The Story of Minglan - all are stories that are centered around the female lead character and her journey). One of the biggest reasons for her success has been her versatility (despite her pixie stature and face) and the fact that she is one of the better actresses for her age group. Chu Qiao was a great role for her as it let her channel her inner female general - but again we go back to the writing - it would have been so much better if she was given the whole story to work with.

Lin Geng Xin was decent as Yuwen Yue - the stoic characters are pretty much a staple of dramaland and I don't think anyone ever does badly in this type of role - but I would like to see him take a meatier role at some point (and I do think he's capable - there's a reason why his career took off after his stint as the 14th prince in Bu Bu Jing Xin). I also think he didn't have the greatest chemistry with Zhao Li Ying, but that could have been the writing more than anything else - a lot of their interactions were way too forced, and not built in an organic manner at all.

But the standout, for sure, was Shawn Dou, who gave an incredibly memorable performance as the complicated Yan Xun. He was able to express every aspect of his character beautifully, and even in the end, after everything he's done, it's almost impossible to hate him because you still feel like he's a product of circumstance. In a world where C-dramaland is dominated by tall, attractive actors in their mid to late twenties who are, for the most part, rather acting-challenged or limited in range, it baffles me how Shawn has not taken off yet. I know he's got a couple of dramas lined up as the main lead, but they're all the typical romance/makjang fare, and I would love to see him in something of substance because he is so talented (I would love to see him work with the Daylight Entertainment team one day a la Zhang Bo).

Shoutout to Li Qin as well who was great in her role - as hard as it was to watch sometimes, she portrayed all the trials and tribulations of her spoiled princess character perfectly. Deng Lun is still really, really green to me - I don't know what it is but he always just comes off a bit awkward in his roles.

Overall
If they had just stuck to the novel material, this would have probably been one of my favorite dramas - but the decision to not film a complete drama is just absolutely baffling. If they do end up making a season 2 (and there isn't any indication that is the case yet - all three of the main leads have projects lined up for the next couple of years - not to mention the fact that some of the rising stars, like Deng Lun, have a heavily packed schedule now too), maybe some of the fury will subside from fans, but for the time being, this is an incomplete production.

BEST SERIES EVER

Out of all the series that I have watched, I Told Sunset About You is probably the best one that I ever watched to date...💖💯 Every element and aspect of it has everything and prolly could be called as a "Masterpiece" and P E R F E C T. 👑💘 I've never been so crazy who cries, laughs and felt every emotion that I could feel like im in a roller coaster ride. 😭🤧The series itself thought a lot of lessons in life and focuses not just the love that are seen on two persons, but it gives significance to to the problems and struggles that an individual might face whether in one's identity, family, friends and community. 💖The issues about LGBTQIA++ is really addressed and was delivered in a realistic manner where everyone can relate and reflect... 💘😊The cast, musical scoring, cinematography, director, crew/staffs and each person that made this series possible are superb and truly one of a kind. The symbolism and details that it has are truly impeccable. The remarkable bra scene which was improvised just blew the minds of the viewers with the message that it portrays to each one of us. The crying scenes are one of a kind and it really made me cry a lot. (RIP to the large amount of tissues that i consumed🤣). Kudos and big round of applause for this wholesome and one of a kind series that Nadao Bangkok gave to us. ITSAY would really have a special place in my heart forever. This is not just the best BL series, but it is the best series for me in totality..💯👑

I wanted to like this one, I really did

However, after reading all the good reviews, maybe it's just me, but this show really fell short. The script was all over the place and nothing was delved in too deeply. Even considering that, I still fast-forwarded through a lot. Multiple cases in a law drama can work very well, but here they didn't. I didn't find the cases interesting enough to begin with and the stories felt like they were just to get us to the next episode.

I didn't care for the main characters. Lee Seung Gi - I don't believe I've seen him in anything else and I'm going to find something else to watch him in, but here I didn't find him attractive at all, especially in all of the unfortunate "squid games" track suits. His character wasn't especially likeable throughout the first part of the show. I love the idea of having liked someone for years, but you couldn't really tell, he was terrible to her.

Lee Se Young's character yelled and screamed a lot. I found that very off-putting. I did like how they tried to show her growing through the cases she took on, but she continued to be the "damsel in distress". Then there was the "sex contract". Give me a break!

Jo Han Chul, who I LOVE as an actor, WAY overplayed his part. Was he supposed to be crazy, funny, farcical, sociopathic? I don't know, but I couldn't stand to watch him.

Top all that off with the fact that I didn't feel chemistry between the leads. Now I feel like I need to re-watch something I've already loved to cleanse my K-drama palate!

What I can definetely say is that the drama is not lacking in suspense. It really makes you keep clicking “next episode”. The air around this drama is heavy. Dark and heavy. It is heart-warming and emotional, but that usually comes in between really dramatic scenes. It’s an emotional rollercoaster. Pretty much all of the characters feel like they’re on the edge all the time. It makes you feel really sorry for everyone. The Japanese are as always, really good at making dramatic dramas, if you know what I mean :)

I give the story a 10/10. The story was well-made, full of twists, it constantly gives off the feeling that you have a clue of what’s going on, but then you realise it’s more complicated than what you thought or even exactly the opposite. There are a few slower paced episodes, around the episodes 3-4-5, when you kinda think “I already figured everything that’s going on, so what are you going to fill the next 5-6-7 episodes with?!” Or at least that’s what I thought, but my advice is don’t drop it, they’re just tricking you, after episode 5 the plot pretty much goes “boom”.

The take on the “family” subject is very Japanese-like. I see that many people find the mother character a bit pushover. It certainly is so for us, but unfortunately, that’s the Japanese society for you. And I think this type of dramas are trying to do exactly that: raise awareness of the public. Yes, in Japan the education of the kids is left almost entirely to the mother, and yes, if anything goes wrong with the kids, she is to blame. And yes, she is supposed to handle all the family affairs by herself, because the husband is the one providing for the family, and he thinks he’s entitled to doing nothing else but that, going to work and providing. You will become really frustrated with the relationship husband-wife throughout the series, and you will be surprised how much the wife can actually take without saying a single word. You would probably make your husband sleep on the doormat if he treated you that way, but for the Japanese, it’s totally understandable and acceptable. The wife is to sacrifice herself for the well-being of her kids and home. So instead of thinking how push-over the character of the mother is, take it as a cultural lesson. Personally I’ve become greatful I was born in a different part of the planet ? and also really sad while watching the drama that there are still places in this world where women are being forced by society to go through so much. I do love Japan, but I don’t think I could live in their society. By the end of the drama the Japanese are all like “Yes, you can see some developpment in her character” and you’re like “No, Japan...you don’t get it..she shouldn’t have waited 10 whole episodes to finally open her mouth...She should have punched everyone who deserved it in the face from the very first episode!”

The music was great. I give that a 10/10. They have creepy music, emotional music, suspence music. I still listen to the soundtrack even after I finished the drama, it sticks to you. The music is really fitting every scene and it sets up the mood perfectly. You know something bad is about to happen when the creepy tune kicks in :)

Rewatch value...I would give it a 8/10. I’m not really a rewatcher, I would need at least 5 years to pass before I can rewatch something, but I would definetely rewatch this drama after 5 years, haha. It’s on the rewatchable side.

I started watching this drama because of Kanno Miho-san, I really like her as an actor. I think she did a great job in portraying the mother. The fact that her character gets you, frustrates you, angers you sometimes, is proof that she actually did justice to her character. I don’t know most of the other actors but they did a good job as well. Not amazing, but good. So I would give the acting an overall 8/10.

All in all, I give this drama a 9 because it really got me. I finished it in two days. It was getting so emotional and heavy with each episode but it had me clicking the Next Episode button every time, hoping to eventually get to that one typically Japanese scene, when after the darkest dark, the characters can finally see the sky clearing and the nice emotional music starts playing in the background. Not a clear blue sky though, just a glimpse of sunshine coming through the clouds, to keep it realistic.

Well, first off....I can really relate to this drama. I definitely felt the same as Mika towards beginning a relationship.

There was just one small thing that bugged me-----their sound effects like i.e a punch being thrown, is just horrible. It sounds like something out of a video game. [Actually, I thought it was cool...but it'd be nicer if it was more realistic.]

This drama can start off as being pretty plain, but once you sit back and watch...the magic will unravel---you'll be completely captivated by this tear-jerking drama.

The story is developed in a way that can be easily understood. It was very simple. Drama happens one after another. Many can sympathize with the lead because we've all fell in love at least once and realized how beautiful the world is.
And then that "I don't ever want to be in love, again" stage.

The cast were great! I absolutely loved Mika and Tatsuya. They kind of went a bit far with Hiro's "bamf" look. But it gradually grew on me.
I really loved that Hiro did not pay much mind to gender. If he had to hit a woman, he'd do it. Koji's (Hiro) eyes had fluttered at the perfect time.

I haven't got much to say about this drama...but I definitely recommend watching it to those who can spare some time, and to those who are patient.

If you liked the Anime or the Manga, you will LOVE this Drama. I was a bit worried that the Drama wouldn't live up to my expectations, but I was happily proven wrong.

It's funny, lighthearted and everything you'd expect from a Drama version of the beloved series. I felt like I was watching the Anime/Manga characters come to life. They could not have picked anyone better to play the main cast.

My only complaint is how short it is; it /does/ follow the Anime storyline, but I was hoping to see more episodes from this Drama.

Nevertheless, the series is perfect in every other way. I'd highly recommend it to EVERYONE.

Why Love Why (2020): A Satirical Pinoy BL Series

“Why Love Why” was a satirical Filipino (Pinoy) boys’ love (BL) series. There were lots of craziness as well as social criticisms on this series. “Why Love Why,” with its hit-or-miss exaggerations, was not without flaws but it clearly had something socially relevant to say.

“Why Love Why” had a good plot/storyline that tackled the interrelationships among historical, societal, and personal issues like the dictatorship of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, human rights violations, graft and corruption, poverty, COVID-19 pandemic, coming out, sex reassignment surgery, cheating, etc. Yes, the historical timelines were a bit confused at times, but they were still good backdrops for this series. While the rich and poor characters falling in love with each other trope is nothing new, I found this series’ efforts at satirizing both the elite and the masses interesting. Wena’s death was an apt reminder of the context, given the COVID-19 pandemic, that we are at right now. Character backgrounds and character developments for Benjo, Emil, and Kelly were generally satisfactory. Without a doubt, this series’ depiction of Kelly was one of the better portrayals of a Pinoy transgender woman in a Pinoy BL series. Benjo and Emil were both strong characters (with steamy kissing and making love scenes, lol). I understand why some people got offended with what appeared as queer misrepresentation and oversexualization of characters during the pilot episode (for the record, I didn’t get offended but for those who did, your feelings are valid) but I do believe that the succeeding episodes were able to rationalize and redeem such characterizations. But not all issues were resolved on this series. Sadly, while there’s a possibility in the future, Benjo and Emil didn’t end up together during the finale.

Screenplay was largely ok although there were some problematic lines that exemplified internalized homophobia and queerness denial, particularly when Benjo and Emil asserted that they’re not gay. Script was extra melodramatic at times. It wasn’t overly funny but it was humorous enough. Some jocular dialogues landed but others were off. There was a rape joke that wasn’t justified at all.

Theatrical acting was still evident on some scenes. Philstagers Films, the production company behind “Why Love Why," started off as a theater company and most of the actors are theater actors. Transitioning from stage acting to screen acting needed a bit of work but all in all, acting was mostly ok. Carl and Johnrey had solid performances. Even the silences between them didn’t diminish their performances, but instead, amplified their acting. Both are really sexy as well. Those shirtless scenes were nice, lol. Carl’s quite charming.

Production technicals for “Why Love Why” were mostly fine. The rich and poor settings were adequately presented. Camera work was technically good. Editing was decent. The soundtracks “Tama Ba Ito?” (Is It Right?) and “Gawin Mo Akong Boyfriend” (Make Me Your Boyfriend) by Vince Tañada and Pipo Cifra were alright.

Overall, I would only recommend rewatching “Why Love Why” to those who aren’t easily offended. It’s a satirical Pinoy BL series with exaggerations that may not be appreciated by everyone. Still, it’s a good Pinoy BL series with a second season to look forward to.

Interesting concept, but gets draggy and cliche.

It has my girl Eleanor in it playing a badass master thief. I liked how the FL solved various gadgets and contraptions using her background as a thief. I needed more of it to be honest. This couple was pretty cute together. The theme song was also cute and the music in general was good.

However, I found myself "forcing" my way through it and having to watch it at 2x playback speed. It got super political and draggy toward the middle. It wasn't even interesting politics. It was the typical cliche stuff and it brought this drama really down. They waited until the last 2 episodes to clear things up. There were many missed opportunities on pacing through spaced out revelations. Also, I'm kind of petty about the ending of some of the characters, but since this is adapted from a novel, it's understandable.

What were Japanese "comfort girls"?

I had the privilege to see one of the first presentations of this KBS-documentary today. In the movie announcement it says:
Koko Sunji - our search to find the truth. Japanese "comfort girl" report no 49.

Subject: This documentary is concerned with the fate of twenty young Korean women who were discovered by the allies in 1944 in Myanmar (former Burma). As they were prisoners of war they were interrogated and there remained two interrogation reports about them, as well as a couple of photographs. The main purpose of the film was finding out who they were - based on these reports and pictures - what happened to them, and what was their role during the war years. Koko Sunji was one of them.
The film also sheds light on the people who wrote the reports, the conditions under which they were written and so on. In order to interpret the reliability of such a historical paper, all these details are important, that becomes evident. In the course of the documentary there are also a few Americans being included, who for different reasons got involved in the matter.

The story: The story concerns historical facts, not fiction, but if I have to rate the story, I`d say it is well narrated. You get to follow the path of the production team on their journey to shed light on that part of the war history. Step by step you follow their interviews, focussing always on the interviewed person. You see maps, buildings and sceneries of importance and in this way it stays interesting from beginning to end.
The film has a highly analytical approach to the matter, which helps not to get emotional.

Acting/cast: The people shown were authentic and always interesting, even though you might not like all of them - since there are conflicting opinions that get their screen time, too.

Music: I don`t actually remember any music. If there was music, it didn`t distract me from the film, and that is a good thing.

Rewatch value: I might rewatch it at a certain point. Some parts were actually artistic, in a subtle way, but I am mainly drawn to the analytical approach.

Facit: I recommend watching this movie if you want to be a little bit more informed about this part of the Korean/Japanese history. It is obviously not fluffy or feel-good stuff, but it is nothing that is difficult to watch or unbearable.
I don`t watch documentaries regularly. I give 9 points to this documentary because I think it deserves 9 points for keeping my interest wide awake until the end.

I jumped into this drama randomly not expecting much and that's the best way to approach this drama. It's only four episodes long and you go through the episodes faster than you can blink. It's a simple story about these twin brothers, one is gay and the makeup artist to a famous model/actress and the other a graphic design artist. One day the gay twin gets into a wreck and he freaks out not wanting to cause troubles for his beloved actress so he asks (more like begs)his brother to pretend to be him while he heals. And tadah we have a twin swap full of comedy and romance. While watching this I felt like the main actress outdid the actor. I could really feel her emotions in every scene but the boy (Toni) sometimes came off as emotionless to me. When Toni was playing as the gay brother I could feel his emotions come through more stronger than when he was in the straight role. I dunno if romance makes him feel awkward. Maybe it is just his character because towards the last two episodes I felt like his acting got better. Anyways the story is cute and cliche but I neither hate it or love it for this reason. It's just something to watch when you're bored or have a busy schedule and only got time to squeeze in a little lakorn in your life. I recommend you watch it at least once. After you're done there's really nothing that makes you want to rewatch it even though it's bit sized. The cast in general were all ok. The bad girl was a little annoying but she actually had some depth to her which I appreciated. She wasn't just some evil cartoon villain. It was nice seeing Chatchawit in this as well I am a little bit of a fan of his. So overall I give this drama a 6. It's ok nothing special but I can't completely hate it because it made me smile throughout and it never dragged on.

Traditional vs Modern Values

It was good enough that it kept me hooked & wanting to chase each episode as they were released. Generally, love the attempt at the female best friend relationship & the FL+ML, BUT hate the 2ML+his sister.

Du Di (Victoria Song, FL) --> my absolute favourite character (along with the ML) - she's flawed but is aware of them & makes the effort to gradually change them.
- Wish she had more scenes with her mum. She always looks and treats others coldly but she’s like sunshine with her mum. I feel like Victoria always has awesome chemistry with her onscreen mothers.
- Her friendship with Wu Cong Rui. The loyalty and love between them. They compete fairly for the position of chief resident and won’t betray the other person to get what they want (for the most part). Love women supporting women!
- Her relationship with Liu Nianbai. SO SWEET! It was like she finally woke up. She went from looking like she could kill you to becoming a cinnamon roll. They’re literally the only healthy and respectful relationship.
- She’s so loyal that she’s willing to be misunderstood by everyone else. Takes courage & self-confidence to do that! I felt so bad for her many times. Especially when Li Jun Xiao and WCR say deeply hurtful things to her. She looks out for them but gets shit like "being in a relationship with you is nothing to boast about" and that she'll never be as great as her idol.
- Flaws: Too hotheaded (she flings accusations around with no evidence) & too overprotective. What’s the point if others won’t thank her for it. She needs to learn to protect herself from that.

Wu Cong Rui (Wang Xiao Chen, 2FL) --> likeable at times, hateful at times.
- The one who has mostly reasonable reactions but she has a habit of acting innocent when she's being the most deceitful. When she had a cold war with DD, it was understandable. Her divorce with her ex-husband and her falling out with LJX was also reasonable.
- What’s interesting to watch are her facial expressions — hilarious. Sometimes I rewind to watch what different expressions she has on.
- Flaws: Don’t get how she could date her best friend’s ex though. That’s a big NO. Also don't like how she gets pissed at DD for listing LJX's flaws when DD was doing it to protect her BUT then lets freaking LJX talk shit about DD 24/7. Is this what a best friend of 10 years does??? She's also too easily manipulated...she lets LJX turn her against DD.

Li Jun Xiao (Wang Sen, 2ML) --> HATED HIM!
- Everything DD said about him was true: male chauvinist pig, misogynistic, superficial & materialistic, easily jealous, hypocrite.
- Sigh. I hated his character for most of the film. I wanted both him and his sister to leave from ep 1-30. They’re always talking about how people look down on them for being "poor country bumpkins" yet he views women as breeding machines and she looks down on divorced women and those who’ve had miscarriages. Why would they expect people to show them respect if they’re not respecting others? He was a walking contradiction & super toxic for most of the series. Thankfully he *sort of* redeemed himself in the last few eps.
- AND his sister gossips and spreads lies to make the patients worry. Didn’t she get ethics training or something when she took on the job at the hospital???
- He’s always making snide comments like the petty guy he is. For the first dozen or so episodes, he kept insulting DD every chance he got. Like bro, you guys broke up, deal with it. You’re at work, be professional! DD isn’t even saying anything even though she hates your guts. He's also a freaking moron for pitting WCR against DD (miscarriage situation).
- What was the whole point of him busting his ass for a ring for WCR when he was fine with buying DD a modest ring???
- For all his holier-than-thou attitude, he's willing to go against his conscience to earn money quickly. Both DD & LJX have similar backgrounds (from poor families in the countryside & they have to work harder than anyone else) yet she has much better morals & values than he does. No excuses for him there.

Liu Nian Bai (Yin Fang, ML) --> LOVED HIM! Adorable without any toxic behaviour. Fully supports the people he cares about.
- His scenes with DD are so cute. The way that he got her to relax and not be so uptight when he’s around her was so satisfying to watch.
- He’s one of my fave characters. He was never really unreasonable & has a high EQ so he's good at dealing with patients that DD can't handle. Both of them do things for others with no strings attached.
- He’s surprisingly good at stand-up comedy! His delivery was 💯!

Cons of the series:
- Fake babies were super obvious and weird.
- Actor's lips & voice-overs weren't synced half the time which made me disengage from the scene. For example, when LJX and his sister were arguing and their lips didn’t match what was heard in the voice over. It made a scene that was supposed to be emotionally intense…bland. No feelings whatsoever.
- Very sudden ending on most episodes. Not that they were cliffhangers but more like the episodes just randomly ended. Also the series finale didn’t feel like a finale…
- Patriarchal values: prefer boys over girls, abort innocent female babies, using women as breeding tools to appease males' ego and pride, that women and children need a father regardless of how toxic those men are & the toxic women who also subscribe to this idea (all the grandmothers & that 1 mother who put her daughter, the mistress, & their kids in danger).
- Communication issue is a huge problem in this series. Besides DD and LNB’s relationship, I don’t think anyone else communicates. Miscommunication led to all the breakups in this series.
- Also how did WCR catch up to DD in such a short amount of time? DD was described as someone with skills that exceeded that of most medical residents, but suddenly WCR who was nowhere close caught up??? Makes no sense. DD had all those sleepless nights and constant disciplined practice that it’s hard to believe that WCR could be a worthy rival in a short amount of time.
- Hate that Director Huang likes to throw DD under the bus to favour her student (WCR). So unprofessional!

Shout-outs:
The husband of the woman with cervical cancer who decided to keep the baby even if it meant her death. His eyes were super expressive and he felt like an actual actor instead of an extra.

The wife and mistress in an alliance. Was super cool (women working together instead of against each other)!

Felt really bad for WCR's ex, but this is what happens when you don’t communicate.

The head nurse!!! Wanted more scenes with her! Also wish her son was brought into the plot more.

A nice surprise was Victoria singing the ending song. I miss her f(x) days so I love it when she sings for her dramas!
