A lot of viewers seem to have something to say about Krist's acting and the views are rather polarized. Some think he can't act and has no chemistry with Punpun, the female lead. Others think he's a great actor has has wonderful chemistry with Punpun. He is not at the level where he he's so convincing in every single role that we see practically no trace of facial and verbal expressions that are probably a result of Krist being himself rather than the character. I feel that he is surprisingly good in the parts that require him to act funny and some parts with very strong emotions, but where the script doesn't offer much, he doesn't offer much either. And unfortunately, in One Night Steal, the character of Nott isn't very well written (or directed). The only really interesting character in One Night Steal is Charm, the actress with an apparent multiple personality disorder. Jonjam, who plays Charm, gets the mix of creepiness and hilarity just right.

I'm not sure if the series is an official or legit adaptation of a movie, but it has been pointed out that the story is basically taken from a movie. That aside, the premise promises fun --a man who has the worst of luck swaps his luck with a woman who has the best of luck due to their one night stand. However, there is missed potential to play up the supernatural element regarding reincarnation and karma, especially at the end of the series where one wonders if the couple have broken the cycle of taking turns to killing each other in different incarnations. (I mean, it would be more moving if their love in this lifetime were so strong that it broke the karmic cycle, wouldn't it?)

The story about Nott and Jee can get insipid at times, and one appreciates the side characters the most when this happens. Sing is so natural and does not disappoints as the hilarious GD while Pleum is really likable as the nice guy, Nueng, who is in love with Jee but never going to get a chance. (Now, one wonders what such a nice guy has done in his previous life to deserve this.)

The sad thing is that the characters are not well written in general. Jee starts off wanting to get back her luck, and I'm not sure how she falls in love with Nott along the way. Nott at one point practically turns villainous when he thinks that Jee has lied to him about being the girl with whom he has had a one night stand, but the turn in the story no sooner occurs than it is dropped. And then Nott and Nueng uncharacteristically have a huge (physical) fight over Jee--I guess for no other reason than to serve the plot of having Jee abducted by Charm. Even Charm, the most interesting character, suddenly switches to her good self soon after abducting Jee, presumably because the drama cannot drag on much further.

If nothing else interests you, perhaps the songs in the series might. They are performed very well and blend into the story. Nott, Nueng and GD look convincing as a band. (Pleum looks especially charming when he is singing.)

A kid learning to act

I really liked this short because it shows clearly and in a beautiful (and painful) way how a gay kid comes to discover his feelings, all without needing a long time for everything to unfold. I also really liked the choice of making Chul Soo part of an acting class - I believe it delivers a powerful parallelism.
I'm keeping this review vague when it comes to the plot because, as a short movie, I believe it can't be said much without spoiling almost everything. All I want to say is that it hits very hard, and it might hit much harder if one had a similar experience as a queer child. The entire movie feels so plausible that I wouldn't be surprised if this was based on a true story.
The acting was incredibly good. I had no expectations since the main actors are all children, but Nam Hyeong-Jung delivered an amazing performance. The piano pieces of the OST also match the different scenes very well.

I recommend watching if you have the chance!

As for someone who just loves the Three Kingdoms history, and Raymond Lam, this drama is the perfect choice (with the exception that the first chapter is kinda boring.) I love how it almost follows the actual history, but in a light kind of way!
However, the ending is definitely a disappointment. It's kind of meaningless and heartbreaking at the same time. So, if you think you can endure it, then watch it till the end!
(Still I think this is worth watching.)

It would be so wrong if i don't write a review for my favorite drama.
At first i hesitated, judging from not-so-intriguing poster and trailer, it feels like your typical boring rom-com with the handsome rich but arrogant male lead chasing for the poor ignorant female heroin as the main plot. Then i decided to try it (because of Jo In Sung, most of it, i couldn't resist him). But i was wrong. I think it was one of my best decision..i'm surely and deeply in love with this drama after watching a couple episodes.

This drama has flaws here and there (see, i can't give a solid 10 here, no matter how much i love this one) especially about the mental illness subject. I study medicine and i have met and seen schizophrenic patients before. i think that..some symptoms and signs do not match with what they call the schizophrenic here. Okay i'm going to stop here lol.. Apart from that, the acting, the chemistry (the best one i've seen, believe me), the music, covers that all.

I think of this drama as my first love in dramaland, it's really, perfectly, my style! (just like the couple say). No matter how many dramas i watch, i keep comparing those to IOTL. I blame my love for this drama because they set the bar so high for the others. If you're hesitating to watch this..please, don't be.

An Intriguing Tale of Brotherhood

This show ended at an odd note; the open ending was rather innocuous, because we don’t know if there is a sequel in works (and if it is, when will the show premiere?). Adapted from the novel “Purple River” (紫川) by Lao Zhu (老猪), the storyline is set in the fictional world of Zichaun and is centered around the brotherhood of the three male protagonists. Di Lin, the oldest of them is ruthless, scheming and cynical, Si Yilin is an eternal loyalist and highly disciplined individual, while their youngest, Zichaun Xiu is a shrewd strategist, pretending to be a wannabe playboy. All three of them are set in their own ways, have no familial connection, and yet they would die for each other. That’s the extent of their brotherhood; it is an unwritten rule, inscribed in stone. The political turmoil coupled with the unending plotting and scheming is entertaining and gives a slight edge to the story line. You never know who the antagonist is, simply because everyone seems to have their own agenda. Let’s dive into the story line and learn more about the characters.

Hilarious, Emotional and Meaningful

Completed - 6/23/2022

This very short drama special started out with funny scenes of innocent high school girls discussing 'important' topics such as, what is sex? where do babies come from? is condom a candy? how does 'it' go up? But what transpires the whole premise is the discovery of the first volume of a banned erotic novel. Of course, what high school girls wouldn't be excited about that? Even their mean and strict high school teacher is obsessed.

The story also took place between 1986-87 when anti-communism sentiments were high and the government was controlling. We witness students being mistreated by teachers, and subordinates being mistreated by supervisors. The tone of the second half of this drama special changes quite quickly from funny to emotional.

Through it all, our heroine Soon Deok, played by the amazing Jung So Min, is central to all that is happening. She stands out among others due to her independent, forward thinking personality, and inspired those around her, esp. her teacher Tae Nam. It's quite difficult to like Tae Nam in the beginning. Who knew erotic novels could change a mean and selfish teacher to care and risk so much for his students?

I am glad to discover this drama special through an MDL article. I recommend this unique special to those who want something different - funny yet meaningful and emotional.

GAMEBOYS is the BEST PINOY BL SERIES until further notice. Don't try to change my mind.

Story:
Not just the story but also how they tell the story is unique. It's evident that people behind Gameboys gave their 200% and they did not hold back. They continue to innovate despite of all the challenges due to the pandemic.

Acting/Cast:
Cairo/Elijah and Gavreel/Kokoy played their roles really well. They both gave their best on every intense, happy and dramatic scenes.
Queen Pearl/Adrianna is just ICONIC. No words.
Supporting casts are all great as well. Terrence.. Wesley.. Mommy Leila.. and London. KUDOS!

Music:
Gameboys OSTs are one of the reasons why I fell in love so hard with this series. Every song captures every moment. AND ITS ALL ORIGINAL PILIPINO MUSIC which I freaking love.

Rewatch Value:
Let's just say that this is the only series that I can rewatch every week and I'll never get tired.

Overall:
GAMEBOYS really made an impact to me personally.. I've never been this so attached to a series before. ? I freaking love GAMEBOYS and I will never stop loving this series. I said it before and I will say it again.. I WILL SUPPORT OTHER PINOY BL SERIES BUT GAMEBOYS HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART.

If you had to choose between seven men, which one would you choose? Seven Korean celebrities appear in a forever single girl's life, after a good fairy (?) grants her a wish to find a boyfriend. The only trick is that they should not kiss her. Okay, the story is so so and the whole drama is simply a lotte advertisement (five minutes out of the ten minutes length were dedicated to it). However, especially if you're a fan of those celebrities, you can't help but feel all fussy and start to identify with the girl. That's because mainly due to the fact that each story is different, exploring every possible romantic scenario that could happen. And the guys vary for everyone's taste to be satisfied, from an idol to an actor, you can certainly find you favourite. Still, the ending was really short. I mean it should have been explained further what actually happened. So, 2 out of 10.

Of reeds that bend but do not break.

No spoilers. Proceed safely. There trigger warnings listed at the end of the review which might be helpful for potential viewers.

❝All God's creatures grope their way around for love.❞

Garasu no Ashi is the story of our protagonist Setsuko; it follows the developing events post the death of her husband Koda. While giving us glimpses into her childhood where she was a victim of eregious child abuse, it shows us the present where Setsuko is approached by another victim, a second grade girl Mayumi. Setsuko decides to save the mother and child from her own fate.

❝In the wetlands where the frigid reeds of glass stand,
the sand trickles smoothly down the abyss.❞

“Garasu no Ashi” literally translates to “Reeds of Glass.” Perhaps it was influenced by the old fable of ‘The Oak and The Reeds.’ Setsuko is likened to reeds, which bend but do not break. She is doubtlessly one of the strongest protagonists I have met as of yet and her character and its portrayal by Aibu Saki has deeply impressed me. She is an unconventional morally grey protagonist, strong and sharp like reeds of glass.

❝You can never truly know a person.❞

Like other wowow doramas, Garasu no Ashi is a dark story. It has explicit portrayal of child abuse and domestic violence. And yet this is such a beautiful story of life. In the beginning the story seems to have multiple threads which don't go anywhere; Koda-san’s suicide, the unplanned death, the affair and the appearance of the child but in the end all the threads are tied up in a cohesive storyline.

Garasu no Ashi combines a teal and beige cinematography and artistic shots of nature in its various shades and tones to bring out the emotions that it is trying to portray. The soundtrack is a crescendo of emotions which had my heart racing.

Regarding the domestic violence in Garasu no Ashi, there is explicit portrayal of child abuse and intimate partner violence. There are appalling bruises on a younger Setsuko and Mayumi’s bodies including cigarette burns and horrific bruises which are also observed on Mayumi’s mother. Graphic reference to sexual abuse and other sexual content. Viewers should be cautioned against these.

Garasu no Ashi has a thrillingly paced solid storyline, brimming with raw emotions. A beautiful watch. I'm glad I watched this. 9.0/10.

Fast paced thriller with mild brain twisters

I kept this movie in planned to watch list long back after impressed by the trailer.finally watched it.This film has smart time traveling elements to it.There was no ambiguity in understanding two timelines and the concept was brilliantly executed within 90 to 100 mins.

It was not difficult for me guess the muderer. But still it was intresting to watch till completion. Both male leads are already my favorite.
Heroin also a familiar face from "Chicago typewriter " drama.Surprisingly that drama also had part period film/Part present scenes/Rebirth concepts like this film. All actors did their job best.

It was not boring anywhere I havnt affected/touched when main charcter dies.it may be because there is not deep scenes to show the main pairs love due to time constraint of the film. But within 1 and half hours showing 2 parallel stories and with different period of time is a great job.
Climax also gave me satisfied feel. So its really a worth film to spend ur 1 and half hour time. One time watch for sure

Not Too Disappointed

Again, I checked the comments to see if the show was worth watching or not, but I was met with some mixed emotions so I went in with some pretty low expectations, but wasn't too disappointed at all. Craving you is for one, extremely short in which I finished in about 2-3 hours. It's a pretty low heat series with some cliche Bl tropes, and a weird main couple connection, but besides that, I actually really enjoyed myself.

Let's Dive In.

Firstly, production. Pretty much the ordinary BL Tawainese production. It reminded me a lot of the same filming aspects of the HIStory franchise. I didn't really pay attention to the music much, so if I didn't notice it, it means it wasn't too distracting, but it probably wasn't all that good. Overall, everything was decent and I didn't hate it. I don't remember any ad placements or annoying ad placements, so that's good too.

Onto the plot. The main couple felt so bland and boring. I don't really understand how they fell in love. Their interactions were short and thin, I felt no connection at all, and when they do finally get together, it feels meaningless and unimportant, and I could've cared less (the kiss was nice tho). I liked the situation between Soda and his fiance way more than Kane and Baker Boy (Can't remember his name). Soda and Kane were remembering the past and their romance. It was intriguing for sure, and I sympathized with Noah more than anything. Him sitting in the restaurant by himself hurt me for real. I loved their ending, I'm glad that stayed together and eventually got married.

The series was wayyy too short and I believe that that is their downfall. Had this been a bit longer, a better put-out plot, and some actual chemistry with the main couple, then this series really could've been it. I also really loved Cora since she wasn't a BL-obsessed woman or some weird shipper, and was a good friend. The desserts also looked really good, and I can always appreciate a mouth-water appeal.

Overall, I liked this series, I think it was pretty decent. It'll for sure be pretty forgetful, but it's worth watching. A happy ending, some cute kisses, and lighthearted situations go for a good watch. I recommend this to anyone who needs a cheery watch.

Park Ji Hoon never disappoint viewers

First of all, i'm aware there will be violence in the drama but not to the extent that i was expecting. However, it also shows the reality of life. There are no guidelines how violent it should be since it all depends on the character, how they feel at that time. When someone who mind their own business are being provoked for nothing, they can be forgiving and not do anything. However, when you step on their tail again, don't blame them for fighting back. Bullies will never understand the pain the weak suffered, sometimes human only understand the pain when they experienced it themselves, so i'm fine with the extent of violence in the drama.

This drama really have everything. Though only 8 episodes, but i love it. No dragging or makjang plot to extend it to 12 or 16 episodes. Directors chose the best cast for the roles, cast discussing with directors on the characters, scenes, etc. Actors professionalism to do their best for the drama.

Especially to Ji Hoon, you have done well, i do not shed tears easily, but from episode 7 onwards, even though si eun did not say anything, but your eyes expression tells everything, i could feel the emotions you were trying to convey. The scene of him visiting Suho at the hospital.. also the scene of the breaking the windows, i could see how helpless & frustrated he was with humanity, with life.. Why can't people just live and not create trouble? He deserved to win awards and i hope he will be rewarded soon.

Wasted Potentials Galore

Legend of Two Sisters in the Chaos (Chinese title: 浮世双娇传) had a promising premise: In a fictionalized Later Zhou Dynasty, two daughters of the Fu family become intertwined with the political turmoils of their country after a folk song prophesied that a woman with the surname Fu is destined to become empress. The sisters, Fu Yuzhan and Fu Jinzhan, subsequently fall for two different men who both have claims to the throne. Together, they navigate their family through a time of strife, and protect their country from certain ill-intent forces from within.

Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Between the general idea of the story and the fact that this drama stars not one but three actors I like, Legend of Two Sisters in the Chaos had been on my must-watch drama list since Meng Ziyi, Wang Zhuocheng, and Aarif Rahman’s character posters first came out. Sadly, for all my anticipation, I was rewarded with a half baked letdown.

Good Story, Bad Plotting
The first few episodes start out well enough. There’s a slowness to the initial pace, yes, and certain scenes linger on showy fight choreographies longer than necessary. But the drama establishes the setting, the characters, the context, and various seedlings of conflicts with enough care that I brushed the flaws off as the typical problems first episodes of most drama series have. As the episodes go on, though, it becomes harder to excuse the dragging pace and repetitive dialogue. The characters, who all have really interesting backstories and agendas, barely grow beyond the template personalities the first few episodes set up for them.

Legend of Two Sisters in the Chaos has a lot of great stuff to work with, but the drama does not meet its potential. Instead, what should’ve been thrilling story arcs are rendered obvious and predictable because of the way the drama handles mysteries and reveals—upfront, with no sense of suspense or nuance. This makes certain points in the drama (like the Emperor not decreeing a crown prince as soon as he falls sick, which could’ve saved everyone so much headache; to the Elder Princess’ inexplicable trust in the Emperor’s head eunuch) come off rather stupid. Basically, the writers behind this series seemed like they had no idea what to do with what they were given, and simply gave up half way through.

Likable But Infuriating Main Characters
Each of the four main leads straddles the fence between endearing and annoying in their unique ways. I could be biased because I like the actors from their previous works, but the positives of their characters generally outweigh their shortcomings. Generally. Fu Yuzhan is by far my favorite out of them all. Her soft-spoken intelligence and steadfast personality were some of the few things Legend of Two Sisters successfully show instead of tell. The drama did do a disservice by making her wishy-washy about her love for Xue Rong, but her reasoning makes sense within the world of the drama, even if it’s a drag narratively.

Given Xue Rong is played by Aarif Rahman, Legend of Two Sisters would’ve had to screw the character up big time for me to hate him. Luckily, he’s alright as well. Xue Rong’s childishness and paranoia are frustrating at times, but the drama never went overboard with them. As far as emperor characters go, he is surprisingly and pleasantly a trusting and kind one. Jiang Shao is the one with the most straightforward agenda, and therefore the easiest to track and follow. There’s not much to nitpick with his character, partly because he has such a muted and mellow personality. My main point of frustration came from his and Jinzhan’s decision (but really, it’s his idea) to swap the brides in episode 7. Sure, it’s perfectly possible for anyone to have done that in his shoes, but it’s narratively annoying to have a main character make a completely avoidable mistake like that.

Lastly, and certainly least, Fu Jinzhan. What can I say about Fu Jinzhan. This girl has guts, a heart of gold, a free spirit… and zero consideration and respect for the wishes of her loved ones. She seems unable to understand that there are consequences to her actions—consequences that other people who are not her may have to suffer.

This is a glaring fault of hers early on, so you’d at least expect that she’d learn from her mistakes, right? Well, no. Her inability to grow up and respect her family and friends’ boundaries causes so much unnecessary miscommunication and trouble for the other characters that I was left wondering whether we were even supposed to like her at multiple points in the drama.

What’s even more infuriating is that the plot itself coddles her as much as her sister does. There are several instances of her going against someone’s request for her to not do something, only to have things work out in her favor. Almost every attempt by other characters to teach her the negative repercussions of her thoughtlessness are rendered useless either by her just not accepting that what she did was wrong, or by her turning the punishment into another way she pushes back. Luckily, she’s a likable character when she’s not making stupid and inconsiderate decisions, especially whenever her clever side kicks in.

An Ehhhhnding
The drama becomes increasingly reliant on cliches to drive the story forward with each episodes, such as the Elder Princess, a compelling villain with understandable and even justifiable reasons for her villainy, getting replaced by her less than impressive son, whose whole reason for turning evil boils down to him not getting the girl. Not to mention the Noble Consort and Princess Shou An’s team up to kill Fu Yuzhan… I don’t even want to get into how unimaginative and vaguely misogynistic that whole mess is.

This all culminates in an ending that you can see coming a mile away: Jiang Shao and Xue Rong’s trap for Li Huaijin is as subtle as a thirty-ton boulder, and such as it is, void of emotional impact. When the attempted coup was over, I thought “okay” and moved on with my life. It was that dull to watch. Fu Yuzhan’s death is sad. But more importantly, it’s unnecessary, which renders the “sad” part ineffective. I kept wondering why the hell the writers decided to do that when they didn’t have to.

Final Rating and Recommendations
Do I recommend Legend of Two Sisters in the Chaos? Hard no, unless you really, really want to see more of Meng Ziyi, Wang Zhuocheng, or Aarif Rahman and have watched everything else they acted in. (And I guess Li Yitong as well, but I only knew her from her minor role in season 2 of Cinderella Chef. She was all right in that.)

Legend of Two Sisters is a good story that’s executed poorly, and a cast of incredible talents that somehow have very little chemistry with each other. The plot is riddled with pacing issues and cliches. The characters are unable to either communicate with each other, or respect each other’s choices and wishes, or both. A lot of the scenes and dialogues are redundant more often than not, and you can see certain “twists” coming a mile away.

On the other hand, if you really want more content from any of the four main actors, or if you just want something playing in the background or enjoy nice looking ancient Chinese costumes and set designs, Legend of Two Sisters may be worth a watch. If not, you’re not missing anything by giving this one a pass.

My Rating: 4.5/10

I kind of have mixed feelings about 'princess agents'.
It started off really good and i was sucked in into the story as i kept watching, but after about 45 or 50 episodes it kinda went downhill and became messy and didn't make sense at times.
I will start by mentioning my favorite things about this drama, firstly i adore the ost!! it's so beautiful!
Secondly i love the fact that the main female lead is a strong and independent woman and i absolutely love how badass she is!
Now the things that i didn't like, sometimes it felt like the writers didn't know what to do anymore and they just randomly made a character evil or made her make no sense nor her actions.
And the thing i hated the most was the ending
It ended on such a huge cliffhanger and left so many questions unanswered, which was really disappointing.
I still have a little bit of hope that we'll get season 2 one day and all of those questions will be answered.
If you're planning to watch this, just know that you will not get a satisfying ending, but overall i do think that this drama is worth watching, because despite it's flaws it's still enjoyable and interesting.

Honestly, I can understand the hype and why this drama got high ratings on douban. Imma give this drama an 8.5/10. I think the highest I’ve ever given a drama is a 9/10, but those were usually for historical/fantasy dramas. I really enjoyed The Day of Becoming You.

The body-switching trope is such a tired plot gimmick. I didn’t even consider watching this drama until I heard about the positive reviews, and so I was curious as to what the hype was all about. I’ve never watched the lead actors in anything before, so I went into this drama with minimal expectations. The first episode was slow. The male lead is in a boyband and the female lead is an entertainment journalist. Not really my thing. The chemistry was minimal too. Very meh. Nearly dropped it.

But then after a few episodes and a series of events, they switch bodies, and Steven Zhang’s acting begins to pique your interest. I was slowly drawn in and continued watching it to see where it would go. His mannerisms are really good, from his vocal control to his posture to his gestures. He really does feel like two different people. Liang Jie is good too, but Jiang Yi’s character also isn’t difficult to emulate. To “be” Jiang Yi, she mostly just speaks in a monotone voice and stuffs her hands in her pockets to emulate the “masculine” stance. However, I do think Jiang Yi is a bit more complex and nuanced than the typical stoic and brooding ML, but Liang Jie was believable enough as Jiang Yi.

They also switch back and forth several times (and I won’t spoil the reason why here). So it was interesting to see how their relationship grows when they’re forced to switch back and forth. Each time they switch, their relationship grows stronger and deeper as they gain more understanding about the other.

There were a lot of laugh out loud moments, and scenes that make you cringe (in an entertaining way) because of the nature of the body-switching genre. I also liked how the drama was mature and talked about adult topics, but at the same time, it still catered to your inner teenager. A lot of us have fangirled over boybands and other celebrities when we were in high school, so the drama made me reminisce about those times. I probably would have swooned over this drama when I was in high school, but now at 25, I’m enjoying this drama from an older and different perspective. Regardless, it’s still a really cute and fluffy drama.

But, I’m also the same age as Steven Zhang, so I can’t really bring myself to swoon and idolize over someone my age because I’d think about how we could have gone to school together (not really since we’re from different continents, but in theory), so it feels weird to admire him and other actors my age the same way that I used to admire an actor who’s older than me. Maybe I have an inferiority complex, but now that more and more leading actors and actresses are my age and/or younger, I’m realizing that I’m enjoying dramas differently than I used to.

I don’t immerse myself as much into a drama (which is a good thing because watching dramas now are less emotionally draining and demanding). Maybe it’s just me. Or maybe it’s part of the process of growing up and becoming more mature. I no longer idolize and fangirl over people, but I admire them as a peer. Does anyone else go through this phase in their mid-20s when suddenly people your age are dominating pop culture, and so you feel closer to them, but at the same time, more emotionally distant?

The period plotline was great. I loved how they talked about heavy flow, the frequency of changing hygiene products, staining your clothes and not wearing white, and swollen breasts. Period is more than just cramps and moodiness, so I’m glad they explored the topic more in-depth. The only other thing that they could have talked about in addition would be period diarrhea and constipation, but I guess that would be too TMI.

Characters, Chemistry, and Relationships
I don’t think any of the characters or their relationships frustrated or annoyed me me. They all made rational decisions. The plot flowed logically. The supporting characters were great. Yu Sheng Sheng’s parents were such perfect, model parents. They were so unconditionally loving and supportive. There were also no misunderstandings, no angst. Jiang Yi and Yu Sheng Sheng had such a healthy, non-toxic, transparent, and supportive relationship. And their chemistry never grew stale either. Even until the last episode, their relationship was still growing and they were still working through obstacles together that had a meaningful impact on their relationship. Yu Sheng Sheng was bubbly and optimistic, but she was never obnoxious. She also isn’t perfect either. She has people she dislikes, gets jealous, and can be selfish, but she’s also relatable. She’s not a “sha bai tien”. Jiang Yi was reserved, but never haughty or uncaring. Overall, A really great couple that grows on you. I’m going to miss watching them.

Ending
But this also brings me to talk about the last 5 minutes of the drama. It turns out that all the characters and their relationships, especially the relationship between Jiang Yi and Yu Sheng Sheng, were idealistic for a reason. Everything was just from the FL’s novel that she finished writing. I completely forgot about this setup at the beginning of the drama where the FL is struggling to write the ending of her novel. And so the final minutes of the drama reminds us that this was just all a fictional story within a fictional story. I was kind of disappointed because it took the magic out of Jiang Yi and Yu Sheng Sheng’s relationship.

We learn that the FL got the idea to write a body-switching story because she got into a fight with her boyfriend, Yi Jiang, who told her that she needs to walk a mile in his shoes. We also learn that similar to Jiang Yi, Yi Jiang was in a boyband, but unlike Yu Sheng Sheng in the novel, the “real” FL met Yi Jiang after he disbanded from his group. She also tells her editor how they frequently get into arguments and would stop talking to each other as a result, but things have changed for the better recently because Yi Jiang decided to change his outlook on things, similar to how Jiang Yi changed his outlook on life.

But in the “novel”, Yu Sheng Sheng and Jiang Yi never had a serious argument. They were always very transparent with each other and had strong communication. So the fact that we’re told that Yu Sheng Sheng and Jiang Yi aren’t real, even though their story is based on “real” characters, was disappointing. We’re reminded that their relationship is idealistic, even by cdrama standards. What a wake-up call. So that was my biggest gripe with the drama.

Overall Impressions
A cute, fluffy, funny drama. It has a consistent plot all the way through and doesn’t drag. I didn’t get completely hooked until episode 7 though, because that’s when Jiang Yi starts to fall for her, so the drama does have a slower start than other romcom dramas. Someone on reddit said that this is a “wine-type” drama, and I agree. It’s not a drama that you would be in a hurry to binge, but it does make you look forward to sitting down with your dinner in the evening to watch it.

Although the body switching genre is an old one, I actually haven’t watched too many so I can’t compare it to others. But I think the drama is worth watching for the relationship between the leads alone. It’s also a self-aware drama that pokes fun and references kdramas and the alpha-CEO dramas.

Other notes
After watching the first 12 or so episodes of the drama, I also realized who Steven Zhang reminds me of. He reminds me of the Youtuber Danny Gonzalez. They both have big eyes, straight noses, long faces, and petite, dainty lips. I mean, they both give off such playful, wholesome vibes.
