A filler drama series

It's a cool short drama, the story was indeed all over the place, I keep questioning myself about things they should do if they had the mental capacity to think about it like Sang Ha should've borrowed money from Jin Won and things but I guess he doesn't want money to defined their relationship which is understandable but unpractical, I'm pretty sure Jin Won would know the situation and understand it cause Sang Ha pretty much told him already and besides he's filthy rich and all. But I guess the series is not good because of the short time, I don't know why it was short? Is this like just a special program or something for gay viewers lol. Anyways, It's a so-so drama, I'm not that new to BL series even though I am gay and I think it's just a filler drama for me to watch.

The highlight of the drama is the OST of "Fly high, up into the sky" , and the other song too was good, even if this drama is forgettable, I think the main OST will be the main reason why I will remember it, It's so good.

Behind Cut, hmmm more or like add Behind the Scenes for completing the story.

The story like any other Korean BL series(except a few) starts with the hate-to-love plot. Given the budget and the 14 minutes per episode time frame, it limits the continuity and the flow in the story, but they took it to next level. The series revolves around incomplete love triangles, mundane kisses, and story that the viewer has to put together to get the story. In my opinion Ep. 8 doesn't make any sense. The poor guy gave his best in trying modeling for the first time and the designer just cancels the show as anything. Omg, this is so disheartening. K-dramas are known for their story, like the deliverance of the stories are so good that they don't even need a second season. No hate just positive criticism as the plot of the story was actually good and interesting. Anyways I hope they do a good job next time.

In a loss of a better expression, this movie is literally a piece of a mindfuck. When five psychopaths kidnap a young child only to raise him so he grows up and become their successor, then obviously the child is going to grow up very twisted and confused about his own identity. The only thing stopping me from rating this masterpiece a 10 is the fact that it's so gory, and that usually doesn't leave me for days.

What grips me the most about this story is that it teaches you that irrespective of the twisted circumstances you were brought up with, you as a human being still has all the innate capacity to break free from all the psychopathic tendencies, and redeem yourself. Of course, drops of blood will be shed because the boy eventually needed to break away from the controlling hands of his fathers, but these were reasoned and properly calculated instead of a path to become as dark and twisted as the real villains.

I cannot express how much in awe I was watching the young version of Yeo Jin Goo in this. I haven't seen him in much else, but I really believe that no other performance of him to-date has topped this one so far. It's an amazing treat to witness him portray the many expressions of a young teenage boy so desperate, angered and heartbroken in many sequences. I believe that you will truly understand why so many senior actors respect him so much if you watch how he performs this role so flawlessly at 16 y/o.

A true must-watch for all K-movie lovers!

The plot is just like the manga (and I love the manga in the first place). Well, there's 1 or 2 scene(s) that missing, but it's okay. Negative point for me is ... Shishon Jun's voice is too sweet for a male (^_^;) That's a little bit ruin my image of Minohara-senpai (^_^;)
.
"If you stop loving someone because it'll never be requited, then it's not the real thing."
I agree, but sometimes we need to pull back, - just like Rika did - so that the other person realize our presence. Just like another phrase, "We only value that one thing only by that time and only realize it when it's too late."

In the first half of the drama:
I love it, the acting was good, the plot is ok, I like the female and the male lead...
Then a lot of shit happened, and the female had to fake her death... can't remember why again but yeah, after faking her death, she flees to another place, while the male lead grieves for her all this time...
The second half of the series:
This is where the second male lead appears... as well as the second female lead...
Let's just say, I pity the second male lead so much... I literally hated all the other characters except for the second male lead, this is the first time this had ever had happened to me, it's quite a novel experience. I never had this much of a reaction towards a second male lead character whereby I continue to watch a great part of the second half just for the second male lead, like legit. In the end, I had to drop the drama in the last few episodes... the pain is too much (pain for the second male lead), though, I got to know about the end of the drama, turns out the savior of the drama, the second male lead, sacrificed his life for the female lead and the ending was basically the female lead and male lead reuniting with each other... OMG, I can't take this... All of the characters except for the second male lead deserves to die, no offense, I really hate everyone in this drama except for the second male lead...
If you are wondering why I hate the female lead so much, well, let's just say she is the type of female lead where she'll use and hurt the second male lead's feelings just to incite jealousy from the male lead... I know that there's a lot of female leads like this but seriously, wtf man...
Anyways, let's move on to the male lead, why do I hate him so much, oh yes, after you finish reading this, you might not wanna this anymore, so hehe hehe. The male lead basically attends to the second female lead because she's hurt and takes care of her and if I'm not wrong the female lead is also hurt at the same time but he doesn't even care... Not only that, he SLEEPS with her (the second female lead), I'm not sure if they really did the deed though, but anyway, the second female lead was the one who tricked the male lead... but regardless, I view the male lead a stud horse that should have been stabbed to death long, long ago. Oh yeah, the female lead found out about this and guess what, she d did the same, used the second male lead to do the same (only sleeping though). I feel so bad for the second male lead, my god... If not for the good osts and the decent acting as well as the second male lead, my rating for this drama would have been at most 1 out of 10, 1 being the worst...

Usually, just based on the description for this drama, I wouldn't have given this a chance. But I was coming off of watching Gokusen and wanted something similar to watch afterwards. This hit the spot perfectly.

Story: Just like Gokusen its a school drama and everything is centered around getting a class full of hooligans to graduate/clean up their act. The only real difference between the 2 dramas is that in Gokusen Yankumi is trying to hide her yakuza family ties and in Misaki Number One!! Misaki is trying to hide her past as a hostess. There are people from the club who rally around to help her when things get tough and her want to help her students is nothing short of cuteness!

Acting/Cast: This is a goofy, feel good show, so the acting isn't necessarily award-worthy, but solid. I liked everyone in their roles and believed them

Music: Good, not great.

Rewatch Value: If you're in the mood for an uplifting and light comedy that makes you feel all warm inside, then there is no limit to the amount of times you can watch this.

Overall: At 10 episodes at 45 minutes this is a perfect weekend drama that I often revisit when I want to cleanse my drama palate with something I know will not disappoint.

More like a treatment than a proper series

Foundational Romance Tropes? None really, one of its issues

This four part mini-series featured a bossy barista and his new trainee finding love. It was quite amateurish, and with a compressed time frame of less than an hour total it felt more like a series outline (or visual cliffnotes). It hit many BL tropes, but without any substance or character development none of them had any kind of significance or impact. It was cute enough for a short run (no kisses, just hand holds etc...) and okay acting but quite sparse.

10 STARS ALL AROUND

Let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE a good lakorn, ESPECIALLY a country side one. I go into these without expectations but this exceeded my expectations by even more. Something about this drama was refreshing, it was cute, it wasn't your average slap and kiss with a messy plotline tossed in with a little bit of SA and cheating, this show said NAH, get that out of my face, were in 2023 now and we're making progress LMFAO.

Story goes like this, you have your rich girl that has mommy and daddy issues, go figure, she runs into a man from the country side and though they didn't start off on the right foot, nothing about it was evil or toxic at all. The FL was a bad B in my opinion, everything about her was just consistent, she was a consistent jerk, she was a consistent sweetheart, she knew when to put her foot down and she knew when she was strong and I loved that for her. I loved the ML, he was sweet, sensitive, tough and just everything you wanted in a partner and nothing was complicated, they were straight to the point, they knew they benefited each other in some factor and rolled with it; even the "evil characters" weren't bad to watch and the SFL was annoying but not in a way where you couldn't tolerate it, she was comedy. Along with the families, there was complications, his mom was a little obnoxious but all in all, I loved the chemistry and I loved that nothing was dragging along.

Bravo to this cast, for sure. Euro is handsome, consistent, he played his character amazing, everyone that truly had a Isaan accent did amazing in my opinion, especially Khao the little girl, go her, she's gonna bloom into a wonderful actress! Prapye, give an applause to our girl, she was annoying but in a hateful way, she was struggling like everyone else but her acting was SPOT ON. I loved it, the chemistry between the leads is what I strived on and it was FANTASTIC. Also the sister and the nephew from the other owner, the parents, just all in all, A-1, and P'Faye, she is just too funny, I usually see her involved in Miss Grand Thailand stuff but I love when she branches out.

The music was great! The OST was made for it but the extras was just insane and on Apple Music if anyone is interested.

I would definitely rewatch it, not only did I enjoy it but I think I would enjoy it a second time with some friends or family.

All in all, what a wonderful show. It did not disappoint me. It did not anger me. I had some tears falling at some point. I binge watched it within a day. I loved everything about this and it was just so good. I wanted more tbh. Maybe the end did seem a little rushed but overall, not a bad show at all. Definitely a good and big one for me this year. A top one for sure.

The Only En of Love People Liked

The En of Love trilogy was honestly a complete mess. None of the stories were 100 percent likable, and they all had their faults. This one in particular was my least favorite out of the bunch, and yes, I know how much of a catastrophe Tossara is.

Let's Dive In.

Although I did somewhat enjoy Vee and Mark’s story, I couldn’t help but be once again disappointed. I HATE drunk sex, the consent of drunk sex is so ambiguous, and in real life, it's dangerous, especially with a complete stranger. I like hookups when each person is sober and aware of the actions their making. So, right off the bat, that’s what we’re hit with. Not only that, but Vee has a girlfriend for the majority of the time they were hooking up. No matter the circumstances or situation, it is never okay to cheat!! I agreed with Mark’s attitude on not wanting to talk to Vee and wanting to just forget him altogether. But with three words, and some puppy dog eyes, Mark just forgave him? The hell? Vee kissed his ex right in front of Mark (even if she was highly manipulative) and just three overly-expressive words later and we’re all good? Nah. I really wanted to see Vee fight for Mark, to really go and make up for what he did, but whatever. The thing I liked most was War's acting. He does such an amazing job at expressing his feeling through his eyes. I loved seeing him on the screen, and I hope to see him in future projects.

I wish this was a full series rather than just a 4-episode mini one. It felt super rushed, and could’ve been better if there was more time in between to show some of the things that weren't shown due to their 4 episode limit. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this show, just because there are better series out there, but it did keep me entertained, and I appreciate that.

Cute

I enjoyed this version better than the Japanese version. I did not read the manga, but there were a few things that were kind of left hanging in this version. The comic career of Anda being one of them. I agree with other reviewers that the subs were awful for those of us that don't speak Thai. The re-translating in my brain took a bit away from the story. I liked some of the side stories as well, the chemistry with P'Thee and P'Jet was pretty good, if a bit confusing for a while. There were some really funny and silly moments, and sad and sweet moments. Overall a good in between live-action manga show.

Ghosts won't haunt you, the lab doctors will.

How much a person can be willing to sacrifice to get a closure or to prove a point??!!??

This movie exactly delves into the above question and makes you feel heartbroken at the end.
The protagonist's sacrifice and selfish intentions will make you question "Was it all really needed?"

Talking about the story, it started off really good but seemed a bit off towards the end... Atleast for me the ending should have been something satisfying rather than a tragedy.

The concept of the story was really good and I expected too much from it therefore a bit disappointed,
otherwise the acting, plot everything was great.

There were little jump-scares here and there (powerful ones though) and the story is not exactly that terrifying but the tragic lives of the leads will definitely give you nightmares due to sadness.

All in all a good attempt to entertain for almost 2 hours.
Lastly I really want to appreciate the actor who plays Dr. Wee in this.
He can pull off any look and character, be it a stud / hero kinda look or a nerdy scaredy cat look (like in this movie)... He justifies all his roles❤️

Hope you watch this lab story without ghosts around you! Hehe ;D

Lol episode 1 and already it is all so predictable

Man, I love Joe Ma but this drama from episode 1 had been predictable, and I mean every typical TVB trope was thrown in here from amnesia, lost in translation in a foreign country, suddenly causing a wedding to be cancelled, the situations that force boy and girl to embrace… everything is used in episode 1. I swear every time I called out a prediction it came true because of how lazy whomever wrote the screenplay for this was.

Man… the worst part? Joe Ma got an award near the start of the 1st episode, and when there was close up of the award it made me laugh out loud. It had the label “23rd Top Ten figthers award”, but they made a typo with the word “fighters” and wrote it “figthers”. Clearly it is wrong but they decided not to change it. That alone tells you how much budget was allocated to this drama, so who knows about the quality of the upcoming episodes. Damn I’m worried.

Episode 4: watching up to this episode and so far everything has been predictable. Even the guy that tried to hurt Mandy Wong I got it mostly right. I knew he had gone to prison and someone would get run over on the road because that’s the TVB way. I thought both his wife and kid would get hit and killed by a car but it was just the wife, so I’ll give that to TVB.

Some scenes were just plain setting a bad example for viewers. Joe Ma drove in this classic red BMW 5 series convertible to pick up Kelly Cheung. He spent the entire drive with one hand on the stick, which was on purpose so that Kelly could put her hand on his during one of their touching chats. This meant for the entire trip Joe was steering one handed, very safe (!). When we see Kelly put her hand on Joe’s, we can clearly see the car had automatic transmission and he had it on drive, so there was no reason to have his hand on it besides from the Director wanting the shot where they held hands. Lol what?

What I found hilarious was the obvious product placement of the red flower oil. Man, they zoom in so you get a good hard look at the bottle just before Kelly Cheung uses it on Joe.

Update: I’ve watched up to episode 14 and man what have I been watching? This drama is just a giant commercial and platform to advertise products. You’ll see how the actors blatantly put cup noodles, medicinal rubbing oils, paper map books and even Seahorse mattress. Jesus!

So far, some things in the drama have been so bad, like when Joe Ma grabs Mandy Wong to jump out of a boarded up window because the place was on fire. I thought it was quite high up, but they just crash through the wooden boards as if they were made of paper, then landed on the ground outside on the same level! That had me laughing out so loud because of how stupid it looked.

Another one that had me go wtf was when somehow Joe Ma worked out how some special code written in an old diary entry by Mandy was deciphered using the map book. The code was something like MB123456, and somehow from that Joe worked out MB was for “map”. How does MB mean map? And the numbers were the page number and co-ordinates on that page. Joe then randomly grabs a map book that he happened to have in a car, and coincidentally this was the right book to use to apply his theory. Joe then travelled to that location with his partner and they started randomly digging to look for whatever may be hidden. This part made me laugh even harder because Joe started digging in one spot 3 times and decides nope, not here. He walked to a second location and dug twice and bang, he hit something! He quickly dug it out and it was a small metal box the size of a tissue box. Like how lucky was that! Second attempt and somehow Joe hits that tiny tissue box! Man, why didn’t he use a metal detector to make it more believable? Joe took the box home, opened it and finds a dictation machine buried there 7 years ago. Joe turned it on and there is power! 7 years in the ground and the machine still had power to it! Joe listened to the last recording and of course it had a conversation that was incrimination to him so he deleted it.

This drama is going to get worse isn’t it?

Episode 18: omg, this episode gave us some proper laughable scenes. Check it out, Joey Law is going through 2015 street camera footage similar to Google Maps Streetview. Now, how can you get 2015 Streetview-like footage in 2023 I have no idea, but it is the same sort of browsing around the roads stuff. Joey virtually checks a road and suddenly he spots a couple in the back and in a complete blurry mess. Joey clicks to zoom in and suddenly we are shown a fully hi-res 4K crystal clear image of Joe and Kelly standing together as if it came from a DSLR. Like what technology was Joey using here? It doesn’t even blur out faces to protect identities or anything.

And the pièce de résistance, Joey Law tries to get access to Joe Ma’s safe and to do so he used a thin piece of plastic and places it over the safes’ keys. He doesn’t dust the keys or anything, just slaps the plastic on and lifts it to find black fingerprints on the keys Joe used to open the safe.

How is this drama rating higher than the drama Happily Ever after?

Episode 22: man this episode gave me some good laughs. Mandy nearly gets abducted, so she scratches the man’s right arm then falls over, hits her head and passes out. Joe Ma happened to be around, so he wrestled the same man. That man scratched Joe’s right arm as well before escaping. Mandy later sees Joe’s arm injured and suspects it was him. You know this is so stupid on so many levels because the suspect redirection was so forced, and also the cops here are not properly doing their jobs. If Mandy scratched the man who tried to kidnap her, they could remove the skin from under her nails, do a DNA test like in past TVB dramas and prove Joe was not the man. Why was it not done here? Because the Director didn’t allow it in the plot.

Final update: man I just finished the drama and I can tell you one thing… I called it! I knew Joe Ma was a good guy, it is rare that he is the bad guy in these dramas so all the red herrings being planted throughout the drama to make Joe look like the bad guy I knew were all BS. But the biggest plothole was in episode one where it ended with Joe visiting the location where his then wife Mandy fell off the cliff. How did he know to go there? That was planted with no explanation since he didn’t know where Mandy went missing.

Of course, we have the misunderstanding fully revealed with Mandy realising Joe was the good guy right at the end, and we get the typical TVB trope of a diary entry left by Joe that explained everything on one page. It’s never a daily one page entry per day, it is always one page that explains everything in the past up to that point in time. Convenient. And I also called out that Mandy would get back with Joe and somehow their situations would be reversed. And guess what? It happened. So Joe saves Mandy from falling off the cliff again, but he himself nearly falls. However, his fiancee Kelly - who happened to be the original person who pushed Mandy off the cliff (which I also called out) - saves Joe and she herself instead fell down the cliff. Joe then gets knocked unconscious by Frederick Cheng and was about to be killed when conveniently the cops arrive with Joey Law, and Joe is left in a coma for one week. At the end of the week, a lady - whose face we are not shown - goes to visit Joe in his hospital bed. This is implied to be Kelly’s spirit as it has been a week and suddenly Joe wakes up. We see Mandy now looking after Joe and his company while Joe now has amnesia.

I found Mandy really annoying because I knew everything she was doing was a misunderstanding against Joe. Later after she allegedly regained all her memories, she claimed in public that it was Joe that pushed her off the cliff. This is so dumb, because near the end when Kelly rescues her from Frederick going nuts, she finally remembers it was Kelly who pushed her off the cliff, not Joe. We get a flashback and can see Kelly dressed in BLACK in the DAYTIME attacking Mandy and chasing her to the cliff without a mask on so Mandy could clearly see her face, and it was Kelly that shoved her off. That really made me angry with Mandy, like you can remember everything but you couldn’t remember that important moment that led to you going missing? Geez!

The weird thing was that Kelly was great in this drama. Frederick Cheng also did a great job as a spoiled rich kid who needed people to help cover up his nonsense. Most of the stuff happening in the drama was a result of him being an idiot and the cover ups not being good enough to prevent others finding out.

The biggest annoying person in the drama is by far Joey Law. He had funny moment for sure so he isn’t the usual wallpaper paste as in his other dramas, but he had this unexplained bias towards Joe that made no sense. Even before they met he was looking into Joe’s past and kept saying Joe was a liar and a pretender and a bastard… anything to make Joe sound like the bad guy when he had no basis to these beliefs. Later when they meet Joey is standoff-ish, and this continued throughout the entire drama even in situations where clearly Joe did nothing wrong.

Overall, a predictable drama and it is below average. It had sparks of something great and some of the actors made their roles look good, but man it suffered from too many issues to be good. Better luck next time TVB, stop reusing so many tired tropes in one drama! There should be a trope limit given to Producers before they start producing anything.

I want to put a disclaimer that this is not a romance film in the slightest it’s marketed as a thriller and because of that there is some very real depictions of violence including sexual violence ie rape. Also, both characters are very morally grey characters there are no good guys in this film so just know that going in. In my opinion the romantic elements though subtle are the strongest parts of the story as a whole and overshadow the thriller aspect of the film, which is why i find the plot a bit lacking especially since this film was marketed as a thriller/social commentary film. The toxic relationship between the two main characters Yoon Jae and Se Joon is very complex, so complex you may not truly catch everything about their relationship at first watch or even the second. However, the relationship of the boys, through subtle and not so subtle actions truly draw you in. I really wish that their relationship was the main theme of the movie because in my opinion that is where the film excels but unfortunately its not. I will say that when considering the actions of the characters I would look at everything with a critical eye that will really help with any questions you may have about the motivations of the characters. I had to watch this film 3 times to be sure of the big main question this film will leave you with. But if you go in with a critical, nuanced eye you’ll easily be able to answer that question.

Spoilers Ahead

I think Yoon Jae knew Se Joon had feelings for him and also had feelings for Se Joon as well, a lot of his actions subtly hint at that. Such as hiding the gift and his relationship with EunYoung etc. What was his motivation for that? His face when Se Joon walks away from him after finding out that he lied to him. Also, when Se Joon texts him to come outside he hesitates at first until Se Joon texts him a second time saying “its all about you”. And did no-one notice after Yoon Jae gets beat up he literally has no more scenes with Eun Young lol I know he was going through a lot but still if you like a girl you’d think to make sure she knows your alright but who did he actually go see? The real conclusive evidence is at the end though the fact that Yoon Jae even visited him at the prison and actually asked him how he was and looks tearful the whole time he’s there. If he actually liked or loved Eun Young there is no way he could visit her murderer and even ask how he was lol friend or not. Also, he never looked mad at Se Joon not even once like if someone murdered the girl you like you’d feel some anger right? Se Joon even provokes him, describing how her body smelled like perfume and he can still smell it. If he cared about Eun Young he would’ve been outraged as soon as he said that but he doesn’t care. And when Se Joon is about to confess, Yoon Jae bows his head because he already knows. And then he asks the guard to wait because he actually wants to hear him confess because he reciprocates his feelings.
