If I had to choose the most intense episode, it would definitely be Episode 5. I felt like I was holding my breath almost the entire time. The emotional tension was overwhelming from beginning to end. Even the sweet, intimate moments were so natural and beautifully portrayed that I found myself replaying them over and over. They made me smile, blush, and at the same time fear what was coming next. It was an incredible episode.

The Xia family, royals of Jingxiu? Or the Zhuang family in Susha? Because man, both families are pretty messed up. I gotta call out a bit of acting that was special, though, by Ding Jia Wen, as 2nd Prince Feng Chengyang. The way his character reacted when told by his grandfather to become Emperor, standing there, nervous and barely able to comprehend what was happening, with tears running down his cheeks - that was impressive. We finally get the lead couple back together briefly, for an emotional, bittersweet reunion as FL finally gets a chance to warn ML about Murong Yao. Then we get a long sob-story exposition behind Yao's insanity. Unfortunately, instead of truly resolving things, in typical c-drama fashion the ML lets Yao live on. You know he'll cause further trouble down the road.

Episode 3 was an emotional roller coaster. It took me through so many emotions before exploding into one of the most powerful finales I’ve seen. Fourth and Gemini completely exceeded my expectations with their performances, and the final kiss was beautifully shot—tender, emotional, and unforgettable.

Episode 2 was emotionally devastating. It pulled me deep into Tanrak’s fear, guilt, and anxiety about sin. Fourth’s performance in the final scene was simply beyond words—his eyes alone conveyed everything. I also love that the series doesn’t spoon-feed every answer, leaving room for different interpretations and meaningful discussions.

wow. The writing is amazing. Mysterious persona with the show reminiscent of “Faust”!or maybe Brad Pitt’s “Meet Joe Black”. Enigmatic and psychological thriller with an amazing soundtrack too boost. The intimate scene was very sensual leaving a lot to the imagination. I just hope no one spoils the rest of the story or at least place a spoiler in their post because I want to wait til the end and hope that my theories are wrong.

unfocus Following the horrific fallout of Elder Zheng's death, a grief-stricken Qi Zheng retreats into absolute isolation. Refusing to let him drown in sorrow, Fan Yun cooks him a hot bowl of pork trotter soup noodles, using her presence to gently lift his spirits. Out of protectiveness, Qi Zheng keeps the dark details of the suicide a secret. This fulfills Elder Zheng's final masterstroke: using his own death to ensure Qi Zheng has a legal, unobstructed path to ruthlessly dismantle the corrupt Zheng household without facing noble backlash.

Elder Zheng invites his lifelong friends, Lord Lu and Lord Zhao, for a drink. Once they are heavily intoxicated, he steals Lord Lu’s official command token. Using the stolen token as leverage, Zheng's butler—disguised in official robes—tricks and imprisons Fan Yun, Tian Xing, and the other reform candidates inside the court hall. Meanwhile, Elder Zheng corners the City Lord, Qi Zheng, in his private chambers, demanding that he sign an executive decree to permanently abolish the new selection exams.

The episode opens with a petty clash between the ML and 2ML. Lou Qiyan deliberately boasts to Qi Zheng about sharing custom-brewed tea with Fan Yun. Qi Zheng counters that same evening by using the confiscated Spirit Immortal Sect gunpowder to launch a magnificent firework display for Fan Yun atop the city tower.

IrenaK The only proper fight for Lifei was with Cailing, and even then she got help from the side — the firewall seed from Prince Tongzhou. I liked the proud smile on Xiuyuan's face when she won, and the anger towards Cailing for almost killing her? Deserved.His own fight with Qin was quite tough too, but I wonder how long will they think he's just a prodigy/genius and not suspect of his demonic spirit? 🤔I kind of don't like Qin Yangling's master. He's very sus towards Lifei, especially after her absorbing the Achillea Bead. And I also don't like Xiuyuan's master for how he reacted to him forfeiting the finale. I get the discipline, but isn't that a bit too drastic? 🤨 And now they all have to go inside the valley to trace the demonic energy... Oh, will they find out about Xiuyuan there? 🫣Also, Lifei's different reactions to Xiuyuan's confession of liking her versus Qin's... The slap might have been deserved, but at least she knows now! 😳😏

At least in the latter, both Feng Sui Ge and Feng Xi Yang seem sane and normal. And even little step-bro Chengyang seems okay. Stupid and childish but nice. Nobody in the Jingxiu royal fam seems sane or nice. I understand she got herself into this mess because of her own naivete' but I do feel awful for Princess Xi Yang because she's basically an innocent kid who has been sucked into this black hole mess. Aside from that, this episode seems to be about full reveal to the audience on all the main villains in the Susha court, clarifying that Murong Yao and PM Zuang are colluding together. We get insight into just how F'd up and full of hate the latter is. And we see a potential crack between PM Zuang and Murong Yao in that the former is at odds with the latter's father over who the royal heir should be. Fu Yi Xiao certainly understands the importance of Murong father to the son and takes advantage of it.

After the merchant fleet transporting sweet wormwood is violently ambushed and looted en route, Fan Yun sneaks to light the military beacon tower, illegally signaling a national emergency to demand reinforcement from other Nine Cities' Nobles. Qi Zheng and Fan Yun risked themselves this time to deliver the medicine to Yong City. But upon arriving, the traveling medical squad is aggressively blocked by defensive guards who fire a volley of warning arrows that nearly hit Fan Yun.
