Yibo brought to justice

This episode let us find out what happened to Tang’s mom. One thing that hadn’t registered with me is that changes occurred. Like chubby gossip had different hair style and maybe completely different from the jerky boy I kept complaining about. Cha did not know him on the beach, so they were never friends and explains why teacher thought poorly of him. Without the boys to temper him, he was as bad or worse than Bao. The cartwheel by security guard😂 He and pregnant friend are a force to be reckoned with.😂🤣Wish we would have had more of these two and less of Yibo.😝Time was working against them and security guard mangled the paper with his water spill. But pregnant friend’s eyebrow pencil worked and they got message back to 1991 which spared Xun a lengthy prison sentence and brought the right people to justice. When Tang first saw Yibo and gave him a ride in her car to discuss what happened to her mom, I was kinda gobsmacked. He was almost gleeful saying how he choked her. He was so sure that she was running off with another man. It never crossed his pea brain that she was rescuing herself and daughter from him. He smiled when he realized he trashed that plan. So guessing she opted to take her and dad out together or they fought and still happened that way. Shen Cheng realizes there is a way to prevent the catastrophe. Warn Xun not to go to foothills so he couldn’t kill anybody. Tang was already following her dad to the beach and she found her mom’s hairpin. She knew what was in the bag and Yibo offered to double the price to have both Tang and mother gone. Xun had just missed the message and cat stopped him. He turned back and sent Shen to get cops while he headed to foothills. Right when he was getting ready to take out Cha, he got a flash of memories and stopped himself. Xun and Tang finally get the normal happy life they always wanted. I would really like to know that Hao and his family stayed intact. They are not mentioned. Shen Cheng sharing his quirks and likes with Nian🥰 It was a very sweet moment. They know once Xun not jailed she would not have a dad and Shen Cheng might never exist. But both decided to warn him. She wakes up in a pretty nice bedroom with a ginger cat lounging on the other side of the room. No clue how her life has been, but the magical cat made sure her circumstances were a significant upgrade except for Xun not being her dad. At the end Xun and Tang send a letter back hoping Nian and Shen Cheng get to read it. To the family they never met. 🥰 They shared their college plans and hopes for the future. Nian wasn’t the one to get the letter out of the mailbox….it sure looked like Shen Cheng is still an option for Nian.😁 I’m sure her cat will stick around to be sure that it happens when it’s supposed to. I wish other options than so much Yibo at the end. It’s a good watch but I’m sad about how Cha is now. He was always destined for prison unfortunately, but the end made him everything the teacher feared he would be. He was so instrumental in raising Xun that I wish they would have given him a better than Bao type ending. His character merited more.

Truth about mom

So gossip boy kidnapped and saved by Xun. He is now their number one fan and sharing his tutor with Tang so she can do well on college exam. Yibo somehow interefered with the escape plan Tang’s mom had in place. Xun and Tang now think she never took the money but was framed by her dad. Mr Shen told a bit about her mom and she found out he was malted milk guy. Yibo showed up just long enough to leave a bad taste.😝 Nian and Cheng have three days before mailbox is removed. They get to Pushui and find out her dad was found. He refused to leave cemetery so they put him in hospital. Nian arrives to find her dad gone. He is back at the cemetery and Tang there to greet him. They are their youthful selves and are enjoying the northern lights.

Tuo Was Never the Villain, He Was Protecting Love

Wow, I feel so validated for defending Tuo from the very beginning.Back in episode 1, so many people were quick to call him forced or even a bad person for breaking up with JunXi. But this episode proves otherwise. Tuo never left because he didn’t love JunXi, he left because he cared too much. He didn’t want to hurt him, didn’t want JunXi to live in hiding, keeping their relationship a secret. That’s why this series is called Secret Lover. Tuo simply wanted JunXi to be free, not forced to conceal who he was from his own parents. And then JunXi said the most beautiful words: “Even if my parents are against it, I still want to be with Tuo. I didn’t realize I loved him this much.”From the very start, it was never forced. It was JunXi who chose to reconcile with Tuo, JunXi who initiated the kiss, and now JunXi who is brave enough to bring Tuo with him to come out to his parents. That takes incredible courage, especially in Asian culture where tradition, family reputation, and generational values hold so much weight. Honestly, I admire JunXi deeply because even I don’t think I could do what he did. This episode was everything. Sometimes love needs a pause, a painful break, so that when you come back, you are stronger than ever. You don’t truly realize how much you love someone until you almost lose them. The communication in this episode was spot on, the emotions raw and real, and it showed us that Tuo was never the villain, he was protecting the one he loved.10/10 for me. This is why I adore this show.

Bao’s carnage

Bao has encouraged his rat pack to terrorize the whole village now. They now beat up old ladies and completely trash food stalls and the book store. I didn’t blame the crowd for being scared, but they sure as hell pissed me off that nobody was running to the police. They either stood there and watched or disappeared. Hao and Xun want to take care of them but Cha talks them down. I think he is plotting to permanently end Bao and doesn’t want the boys involved. That teacher, she just made my s list again. If she would have just looked at the pain in his eyes she would have known something was very wrong. She just couldn’t get off her damn soapbox long enough to let it register. I really hate how they wrote her as this obtuse tunnel visioned person. She can’t get her bias out of the way to see what’s going on. That she never had a clue about Tang when she should have been helping protect her. She falls lower on the good scale than Cha does considering how she thinks she rates. She is missing some huge things right under her nose, and she says she’s known him since 18, but she doesn’t really know his heart or what he suppresses and hides from her to keep her mouthy self safe. The bookstore owner is such a sad case. He knows he’s been submissive and hidden, but he just wanted to live in peace with his family. I like that he encouraged Tang to continue her studies. Tang’s older self purchased the plot next to Xun’s memorial. That is pure dedication. Hao shows Nian and Cheng the pictures they took at the billiard place opening and they could see the younger versions of everybody. At least now they know why Xun pretended to be dead and I think that left an impression on Cheng that in spite of prison, etc. Xun was a decent man and anybody that knew him agreed. I don’t think I want to know what happened with Yibo. There is no use for him. I hope he is one they don’t look into. Hao wants them to let him know if Xun shows up.

Final Episode: A Love Written in Blood and Eternity

All ShuHe and Duan ZiAng ever dreamed of was a quiet life in the woods, a small wedding beneath the trees, a love free of crowns and wars. Yet their fragile dream was shattered by the Crown Prince, who, though destined to be king, could not wait for fate. His greed devoured him, and in his hunger for power, he killed his own father to seize the throne. At the bridge, ShuHe cried out in desperation, begging his brother to let them go. All they wanted was peace, a home in the forest, mornings of laughter, nights of warmth. But the Crown Prince could not let go of ambition. He raised his blade first, and in that moment sealed his own tragic fate.Years passed. Five long years of silence, of longing, of wounds that festered. Each day they thought of one another, each night they carried their grief. And when they finally met again, tears fell, apologies poured forth, and the weight of unspoken words was lifted at last. Forgiveness was given, love reclaimed. They held hands and promised to walk together until the very end.No longer emperors, no longer rulers, just two men, back where it began, in the 6th Prince’s residence. No guards, no servants, no kingdoms between them. Only their love. As they leaned closer, foreheads touching, lips meeting with trembling sweetness, it was love in its purest form. If this is not love, then nothing is.And then, their wedding. The first same-sex marriage of an ancient time, sealed by legend. A blood-stained dagger cut their hair, binding their souls beyond death, into the next life and all that followed. Together, they poured three cups of wedding wine. The first cup, to heaven and earth. Duan ZiAng smiled, whispering, “My heaven and earth have always been you.”The second cup, to their nation. The third, to themselves, to finally becoming husband and husband. They kissed, tender and eternal, as ShuHe’s voice trembled, “Life and death are a cycle ruled by fate. Duan ZiAng, I love you.”Their final embrace was both love and farewell. Two souls holding on for the last time, as if clinging could keep the world from breaking. And as their story closed, one prayer lingered in the wind:If there is another life beyond this one, let us not be princes or heirs. Let us be two ordinary men in a quiet forest, with no crowns, no wars, no witnesses. Let our mornings be filled only with love, our days with peace, our nights with laughter.Until then, even in death, my heart belongs to you. This story has ended, leaving my heart in ruins. Never have I cried so much, never has a love so tragic felt so eternal. This first ancient BL has carved its mark deeply into me. A masterpiece of love and loss, forever unforgettable. 10/10

The bookstore manager gave Tang her pay in advance but had to fire her because his family lived at the store. He could not risk it and Tang didn’t blame him. Birthdays

The episode starts with a chat about bday gifts. When Tang asks Xun when his bday is, he has no response. In his entire life he has never once celebrated his bday. She declared 9 Nov his bday and that they would be celebrated every year. His tearful face at having somebody love him and make a day for him. Their happiness turned into a nightmare. They are running and bloody and he has a knife. I am guessing they had their last fight with Bao et al. At least they are all alive. All three guys went to jail for various time lengths. Xun got 13 yrs for involuntary manslaughter. Since Cha said he owed him money, I am wondering if he took the worst crime to keep his friend out of trouble. When jailed he refused to see Tang. She reached a point where she wanted to end it all and walk into the sea, but as she was giving up, she heard Xun’s voice in her head telling her to live well. She got herself together, unburied her cookie tin with their keepsakes and went to college. She ran into Hao who gave her the memorial plot address for Xun. He was not really dead but he did not want to lessen her life with his past crimes. He did try to call her once but when he heard her son call her mom, he figured she was married and better off without him. Every year on 9 Nov she cleaned his memorial and left a bday cake and flowers. She did this for decades. The episode ends with them being old and she still delivers the cake. This year she just gave him the cake and said goodbye, she usually sat and chatted with him but this time it was just happy bday and leaving. He is there watching and as she leaves he still doesn’t say anything but cries bitterly. His life had changed significantly after prison. He promised he would visit his friend’s family because he would not live to see them. That sweet little girl kept asking him questions and he committed to be with them every day. He became the Gma’s son and became father to Nian. It was not the family he had planned, but it was the family that needed him. He looked after them well for as long as they were under his care.
