Poison and prison

Blind prince now knows his mother was poisoned and we know he accidentally got a dose before she slapped it out of his hands. Did she discover it after drinking or was she poisoning herself? She wasn’t trying to get help and she knew the tea was poisoned. Him holding his ma’s hand was as creepy as doc with his dead wife. It was just a whole lot of ew!😝 Yu talks her father into helping Che get out. He has called on a relative general in army to assist. I understand him helping his daughter, whom he loved. However, I was somewhat gobsmacked at how matter of factly the father and son thrown under the bus when Yu and Wan talking. And sparing the witch of a mother that caused a lot of the hard feelings. 😝 Usually I side with the women, but this time I’m not convinced it’s the right thing. When Yu was lighting the fire she looked a lot like Caihe. I was surprised she escaped. Cheng got himself in trouble with Chi again. The point was well made and slowly sliding the sword down his robe and then that thunderous strike in the ground right in front of him. You just know this isn’t over yet, and they both know how it is going to end. That was a foreshadowing of Cheng’s fate. The emperor is asking Cheng to kill Che and offering him the crown to get it done. He and the empress have it out as she flat out tells him no marriage decree had occurred between them so he didn’t have the authority to depose her. She put up with him for the sake of her son but his days were numbered. She coddled her boy and he is a complete mess, but she has the spine for all of them. Poor consort is thwarted again. I hope she gets a deserved fate with her psycho son. It was a cute scene with the three prince’s at the end, but blind Prince reveals he sees a lot more than people think. Chi notes it and ponders. The episode ends with empress trying to stab emperor with candlestick and is left in darkness.

Intense and gripping

Finally we're getting somewhere, even though it's kinda late given that four episodes are left. The subplot with Gyu-jin and the bullies was one of my favourites so I was happy to see that the plot focused more on it. To be completely honest, I didn't expect the twist with the school shooter so kudos to the series for misleading me. There was much tension and action. I still think that the characters and their emotions could have explored more but I'm content with what we got. I think that the scenes with the students and the shooter were very gripping, I was anxious yet excited to see what would happen.

Three weddings and a deposing

Everybody is running with the premise the Empress had the bodyguard murdered and buried. She freed him and then he was murdered. Who killed him? And why was his body moved? The suicide in the well. Was he forced to confess and then jump in or was it truly suicide? This all fits together too neatly. The empress actually looks prettier with less gild. She was telling her son about his father but he is still not understanding what she is saying. All the Princes are officially married now. Happy to see Shuang and Lt get married. She is probably the only Qin gal to live happily. Xiang has already miscarried thanks to Feng consort. Not only did she cause her to lose the baby, she then denied her medical care. So I had to smirk when she learned she fought so hard to marry the guy that killed her brother. The crown prince and Yu had an understated wedding because of the charges against empress. They actually seem to be a decent couple. Yu and dowager are trying to get him sent away so that he can’t be killed by Cheng. Cheng has a joker grin on his face as he slaps the documents down lining up the charges for empress. What a bit of fortune that he just happened to be in charge of it all. At least got a chuckle when he ran out wretching from the autopsy.😝 Wan and Chi are finally married. They each share special thoughts and gifts as an official couple. They are blissfully ignorant of the crown prince deposing and will have a few hours of calm before storm. The consort is having a grand ol’ time mocking the empress over her son being demoted to second prince. The Bedouin state probably heard her cackling.😝The emperor has given Yan Li training as minister of personnel. While it is good training to be a prince, Chi knows how unsuited he is for this and tells Wan so. Ning makes cute pinky swear with Li that he is her one and only and then runs to the side of the pseudo blind prince. He has mother on ice seeking justice, but damn, is as creepy as senior doc.😝There is a maelstrom of political chaos brewing for a perfect storm. Everybody is going to feel this one.

Entertaining fighting scenes, still lackluster

I loved the fighting scenes, one thing this drama does well is that. But the story has yet to touch me. I thing that there are so many aspects to explore but something is missing to make the series less superficial than it already is.

Promising beginning

The first episode was really intense and it made me look forward for what it's about to come. The premise of the series is very interesting and I love Nam Gil as Lee Do.

The first block game was okay, like not fun…

The first block game was okay, like not fun But the game with mud, Cart, pushing game. It was hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing, Chao was drenched in mud and kept falling down, everyone was like rolling around in the mud, so funny. Zheng Kai, kept falling down cause his partner couldn't push the cart with him in it. I know it's a variety show but really the last game kind of ticked me off, the station collecting, then snatching, Lu Han is still new and his partner was like him too, too weak in front of experienced members, he tried to hide the station slabs but they got stolen too, although Li Chen felt bad and returned one. I thought he's gonna cry. Though he can't it's a game, unfair one at that. Anyways just a game moving on to next one, this shows how much he's grown, I saw the season 5 first, his growth I saw.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about this...

First of all, I think that we can all agree that the scenes with the American guys are some of the worst aspects in the drama. I got second hand embarrasement. I had gotten spoiled for the plot twist but honestly...I could see that coming from a mile away so it's not like I wouldn't have figured it out. The story is interesting but the execution remains lackluster. I think that the subplots harm the overall plot and the pacing, it would have been better if the series focused on Lee Do and Moon Baek instead. I still get mixed signals, I do not hate it but I do not love it either. Kim Nam Gil once again delivers a great performance, even though his character is still not explored that much. And of course Kim Young Kwang KILLS it as Moon Baek.

Yayyy

Okay, *Trigger* was SO intense! Lee Seo-jin absolutely killed it as the brooding, revenge-driven detective-like, hello, new obsession? The action scenes were insane (how manytimes can one man almost die?!, and the twists kept me guessing. Sure, some parts were a *little* predictable, but the suspense made up for it. I totally binged it in one night-no regrets! If you love dark thrillers with a badass lead, this is a must-watch.
