Punishments and rewards

Xiao Jue’s old schoolmate Yan He shows up to administer punishment. I am very unhappy with how the punishment was made so public, but the powers that be demanded their pound of flesh and unfortunately received it. Chu still thinks he can bribe He Yan into a life of ambition with him. He really doesn’t understand her at all. I do wish Xiao Jue would have stuck around to hear the end of the conversation. He Yan has been rewarded general status. It is a mixed blessing. Chu is devising means to get too much interest in her..and that he could smile at her after watching and causing the commander’s punishment shows how far off the mark he is. He does not deserve to be Xu’s puppet with Wutuo matters but he is not even in the same book much less the same page of deserving life with He Yan.😝 He should have gone for being her friend where a true alliance might have been made. After her brother’s betrayal, she is not going to let any man decide her course for her. It is nauseating that her ‘brother’ got away with murdering those valiant men. She knows what he is doing and so does Xiao Jue. I would like to know what boon he requested from the emperor as he seemed rather pleased with himself over it. The emperor is technically right in that Xiao Jue needed punished, but I still find it two faced to keep punishment more available for the loyal men and reward for the traitorous power seekers.😝 I like that Xiao Jue gets confirmation over which He general he is at odds with and how the emperor’s praise includes a slap sending him back to post. That was minor satisfaction after commander’s punishment. He Yan knows she is set up for her friend but doesn’t care. She is determined to get the job done in spite of the odds. I love that she ‘borrowed’ Qinglang sword for the battle and swapped it with pouch. These two should be united. The general and mentor sword to face her worst enemy. I am glad another episode today to see Xiao Jue’s response.

The Battle of Rundu

She was trying to secretly leave the Camp, but her friends (better as friends than subordinates) asked her that they'll go together with her, ahhhhhhhhh when did they found out that she's a woman. I love all her buddies, they kept her secret so she wouldn't be expelled 🤭. The face card so good (Jiang Jiao). Even Chu Zhao stepped forward and said I'll go with you all. They all left with their horses. She is well aware that He Rufei planned this all to eliminate her along with Li Kuang. Since they couldn't enter from the front, she led them to the secret tunnel to enter the city. Li Kuang thought the intruders were reinforcements and went to salute General Feihong, it was such a good scene when He Yan turned back to face him. Even Li Kuang thought that her body figure looks similar to General Feihong. When she pushed Li Kuang and used the grappling skills on him, he was shocked to see General Feihong's grappling technique. I really wished that she would say I'm General Feihong (impossible task). But she didn't disclose anything and made an excuse that she served under General Wang Qi who taught her about the secret tunnel and grappling technique. Li Kuang was so impressed by He Yan's skills. She suggested attacking instead of defending. She strictly told him to stop waiting for He Rufei, and told him about the death of the seven Deputy Generals. Told him that He Rufei won't come. She asked him about the Wutuos movements. I remember this arrow thing (She skillfully took the Arrows from Wutuos). Rundu has been fighting for days and is at its limit, even the soldiers morale is down, the Wutuos assessed the city's defence and seems like they're preparing for a full scale assault. Their Army's arrows dwindled and they don't have much weapons, while Wutuos have plentiful. She proposed a plan to kill two birds with one stone. [I wanted to see this, I've waited so long for this❤️]. He Yan proposed to use straw dummies and dress them in Armor then make it seem like soldiers are descending from the City wall, since it was night Wutuos wouldn't be able to spot the difference between real and fake, and will shoot arrows, Rundu soldiers will pull out the arrows and repeat the procedure again and again to collect as many arrows as possible. Li Kuang can finally see hope in this battle. [Novel: they did this for a few days, then after the Wutuos realised that these were dummies and not actual soldiers, it was already late]. Finally The Wutuo Commander realised that when these soldiers were shot, there were no screams, so he gave the order to Stop shooting the arrows. [Novel: After doing this Straw dummy thing for a few days, when Wutuos finally let their guard down, then that was the moment He Yan was waiting for, this time Real Soldiers descended down the City Wall, He Yan was leading 500 Elites and sneaked into the enemy camp midnight and burnt their Granary and saved the enslaved women]. And Wutuo Commander ordered them to just shoot a few arrows and stop cause they won't be giving them arrows for free again. This time He Yan along with Other Soldiers descended down the wall. CZ was praying for Her safety (I don't hate you but she just friendzoned you). While lurking in the shadows, they heard the cries of women sling for help. He Yan ordered her men that we'll burn the Granaries and save these women too, set the fire first, and rescue them in the Chaos. She emerged through the fire (an amazing scene, they did a good job). She stood in front of the enemies with the mask and her sword Qinglang. It was said that, He Yan could use any weapon she was presented with, but her Sword skills surpassed them all. The Wutuo commander was suspicious if it's General Feihong because of her sword technique and Qinglang. She perfectly sowed discord between He Rufei and the Wutuos. Tbh what CZ thinks about HY is amazing. After XJ returned to Camp he immediately ordered Feinu to gather troops to lead them to Rundu, and he knew that if He Yan is away from the Camp then she's headed to Rundu. Finallllly He Yan and her soldiers returned gloriously, Li Quang got emotional when he saw He Yan in mask, immediately misunderstood and thought she was General Feihong. Li Kuang really gotta learn some lessons from He Yan, treating those women like shit, but He Yan was disappointed in him. Ahhhh it ended too quickly, just 39 minutues I got 😭. I can't wait for the next episode.

Kill lesson tested

These hypocrites over who plans to harm whom. They are a duplicitous lot that deserves whatever they get. At least Shi tries to calm things, but in spite of his appearance of kindness, is it real or feigned? Sima Jiao moves killing lessons along and shows her best places to strike. She is not enthused with the lesson. Tingyan uses his gift to make snow for him. When she slips, he lets her fall flat and hints she could do more with his gift. When the two palace girls try to kill her. He lets them. I am not sure if she actually died there or if he just wanted them to think that. He heals her or revives her? It is enlightening to see the reactions to his truth flame. They belt their evil plans and intentions right out. What magic is thumbs up😂 Her biggest evil so far is kissing up to the boss to get more free time and healing from her poison. It has to be a refreshing change for him to see someone only concerned about her safety and no interest in him at all. Ruling is growing on me slightly since she gave snake his heart back. Surprise…naked human male here.🫣😂 she gives a good glance before handing him coverings.😂 Sima Jiao now knows he visited Tingyan first, but in gratitude. He showed his allegiance to his master. At first, I was afraid he set him to guard gate to test Tingyan to kill him. I really hope that scenario never presents itself. I am relieved to see those old greedy heads of state there instead. He knocks them all out but has injured himself to see how will play out with Tingyan. The old man tells her to kill him or she will die. Sima Jiao confirms this is true and asks for her to show him what he taught her. He holds the sword to his throat and expects her to respond…..and it ends with a wait til next episode.😭 He let them know this night would be his weakest and the best time to kill him. He even let the one girl’s spirit escape to let them know. What I am wondering is which he wants most…relief via death or Tingyan’s refusal to kill him?

My snake buddy has become heartless

Everyone wants to know what’s so special about Tingyan. She keeps telling them…nothing. She has been given the job of weakening the flame flower. She equates it with babysitting.😂 The flower does act like a petulant child but if people only hurt you or took your power, you’d be grumpy too. Like beauty and beast story, this flower and grandmaster are linked. They live and die together. I did not realize that he only offered her a temporary cure. She is hiding from serpent to get some sleep while he drinks and Ruling intervenes. She steals his heart. I feel sorry for the now little guy and his master has absolutely no sympathy for him. I was hoping Ruling would be a true friend but it doesn’t look like that will happen. She can’t consider the notion that it is possible to take someone at face value with no hidden agenda. The grandmaster is no better. She alleviates his pain because she can but he refuses now unless she kills someone. He first revealed that without celestial power, no weapon can be used. He then gives her petals from flower to cultivate. She has no clue what they do even after the flower tried to explain. She just sees it as the wage earned from this environment. She still sticks with her buddy now munchkin snake and tries to make her boss more comfortable. She wants a workaround to his kill order. Sima Jiao is tired of what he sees as games and takes matters into his own hands. He takes flame from the flower and tries to break the seal confining him.

Vengeance

He Yan heard from other recruits that Wutuos attacked Huayuan and General Feihong is leading the army, they say that He'll surely crush the Wutuos (but they don't know that the one who crushed then was He Yan, in novel they were afraid of the name General Feihong). [In the Novel: Yan He'a character was important in the later half as he contributed a lot for the nation, and he was such a funny guy, always competing with Xiaojue over everything and comparing every little thing, the funniest thing , LOOK Huaijin I'm married! Are you married? Hah! I'm going to be a father!! He was like this🤣, I loved his character]. And here in this flashback is Xianchang Academy he was still second and first was Xiaojue and see! He's still competing with Xiaojue🤣. Oh, The Emperor's edict, CZ read it and announced that He Yan did a great job bland contributed to the nation, and will be promoted to General Wu'an, While Xiaojue will be caned by 20 strikes (just as they planned, reward the brave young soldier while punishing the Commander, sowing discord). Xiaojue protected Jiyang and this is what he got, he immediately knelt down to take the strikes, 20 strikes are heavy enough to kill a person. Can't see him like this😭, all he did was protect a city even though he violated a law. Yan He was sent here to deliver this military punishment. He Yan knew the moment she saw CZ that he petitioned for her promotion, and he revealed it himself that Xu Jingfu was behind this all commotion. The wounds on XJ's back😭. XJ saw Her shadow near the gate and made sure he wouldn't make a single sound while his wound is being treated by CL, so she wouldn't be able to hear him in pain🫠. I said before he's a good character, Yan He came to see XJ if he was fine after he was caned by him, Yan He couldn't say no as it was an imperial edict. He was talking about He Rufei going to Huayuan and XJ's eyes widened. Shen Han reported to XJ that CZ wasn't connected to Mjngshui Battle, as he had no connections with Chai Anxi before the battle, and told him about XJF's meeting He Yan(HRF) in Yuhua Temple. He Yan is sitting alone by the lake, while CZ approached her, She quickly distanced herself from him by taking a step back (that's my girl👍), ahhhhhhhhhhh! XJ is behind the tree eavesdroping on their conversation 🤭. CZ told her that right now XJ's position is complicated, some fear him but some resent him, and his future is unclear, [Novel: Do you know that she was promoted to Marquis Wu'an]. Cause does it make sense to you if a mere soldier after a battle or two, would be directly promoted to a General? Basically Chu Zhao wants to say that XJ's position is complicated and you'll be implicated if you stay with him here so he petitioned for her promotion to the Emperor so she'll be happy(bruh what do you think), trying to impress her while completing his Master's task, nice one Zilan. He was obviously telling her that now you got promotion and you have many opportunities, so don't limit yourself to Yezhou, He straightforwardly asked her to go and travel (see) the world with him (basically confessing his feelings towards her). Ahhhhhhhhh! Her hubby heard CZ's good offer and confession and left them and went back to his tent🫠. She refused his offer. XJ and Yan He heard about He Rufei's victory in Huayuan, but seven deputy generals died (all of He Yan's comrades), and literally HRF made such a show, making it look like it was a tough battle (He Yan already had a large Fuyue Army), cleanly eliminated her Comrades. XJ told YH that what happened in Huayuan Battle is similar to what happened in Mingshui Battle, it's not a coincidence, Even Yan He was praising the Seven Deputy Generals (trained under He Yan) that they were Legendary, how could they die like that, CL even suspected that He Rufei killed them himself. He Rufei met Maningbu, Wutuo Chancellor, and gave him the Defence Map of Rundu, Li Kuang is the General who commands the forces of Rundu. I really wished that He Yan wouldn't find out about her comrades (I know impossible since the story was already written, even in the novel this was a difficult part to read) 😭, Her Comrades, the Seven Warriors died on the battlefield, ofcourse she knows that He Rufei had a hand in it😭, She took out her whip and literally destroyed all the wooden poles on the training field. XJ couldn't see her like that and approached her, She pledged that she will take revenge for her comrades. Even when XJ is applying medicine on her hand she can't feel any pain, said that if it wasn't for her they wouldn't die, she can't kill their murderer, she can't even shed tears or pay tribute to them (I'm crying😭). Ahhhhhh comforting her 😭. This is when it all happens. The Emperor's order has arrived for Xiao Jue to be summoned, while He Yan won't go with him and stay here in Yezhou Garrison [Novel: She left the Garrison when she heard the news about Rundu and Li Kuang being in Danger, all her friends Xiao Mai, Wang Ba, Jiang Jiao, etc all left with her, they left the Camp secretly at night]. Ahhhhhhh! He told her to stay in Yezhou until he returns, cause he has many things to tell her (hubby confession). Ship will sail soon, (TaoTao x Cheng Lisu). XJ came to the palace and since the Emperor wanted to compensate the 20 strikes, XJ asked something in return, and met HRF. Hah! He Rufei stood outside in the chill all night to meet the Emperor to claim merit for Huayuan (yeah yeah, his hard earned victory, such an act), and got 0 rewards from Emperor, The Emperor just told him to return to Camp and train the Troops🤣. He Yan knows that Li Kuang is her remaining Subordinate and HRF will certainly eliminate him, and if Rundu faces any danger he won't send reinforcements, He Yan has decided that she'll leave for Rundu, because she knows HRF is planning something big, she has to go there. She went to XJ's room and took back Qinglang, She won't let Li Kuang die or let Rundu fall. Before leaving she left a note for Xiaojue "LEND ME A SWORD TO AID THE RUNDU CRISIS" and the pouch embroidered by her.

I cannot believe I am liking the snake 🐍🫣😄

This is vile how these users and plotters first forced him to live and now fear and resent that he has. They want his blood and gift so badly forgetting they will condemn themselves to the same fate as his clan. It is disgusting how they throw their young women at him and then wait for an heir to wash rinse repeat what they have already done. Not one of these women question why as they are raised to covet his gifts and steal them for their clan. They have really made the giant cobra act canine.😂 He goes from frightening to absolutely adorable. Like most dogs he loves snacks and sees her as the source of them. She treats him like a lovable but tiresome mutt causing her trouble. She shares her drink with him and they are now bff’s.😂 Her master is shaking her venom rattle to remind her what her job is. She still has no clue what’s up, but the snake takes her to grandmaster. His master is less than pleased that his guardian has brought a demon clan member into his private chambers. Against his better judgment, he opts to heal her. She regains consciousness to find herself right next to grandmaster and she knows from up close and personal view that that always results in bad things. He gets right in her face and wants to know why she hasn’t killed him. She says no grudge and no reason why should she? Even had she the power she wasn’t interested. She admits to his face that as low as she is in the cultivation scale, why would that be in her perspective view to try? He can’t really argue with that logic nor does he understand what her motives are if that not the case. She puzzles him and he reminds her that irritants get silenced. I am smirking as he tells her not to waste his blood or she will regret it.😂 she has now been made his personal server. She is scared stiff at the prospect, but glad she’s alive. She mumbles at snake for getting her in trouble😂 She looks like Santa with her huge bag of possessions.😂 The two mean girl leaders that thought they had best chance at getting through perimeter were aghast when she knocked to get in. Tingyan knows it is useless fighting her fate so has absolutely no fear knocking. She steps right through grumbling all the way.😂 Her vacation has turned into a side job she wasn’t interested in. When the mean girls try their luck, they are tossed far away and disappear. She asks about them to be answered…what do you think? When she runs into snake in the hall she is not happy with him. The more she tries to get away from the grandmaster, the more she is tossed his way. She trips and finds their foreheads meeting and contact has an interesting result. He learns she can quell his pain. She tries to leave but he grabs her and renews contact. For the first time ever in his life, he finds himself needing someone else for relief. I don’t think she considered this as part of her job description.😂

Huayuan and Rundu conspiracy

XJ saw HY (he knows she can't be the person who would take so many lives) and ordered Feinu to go to the Capital to look into He Rufei and what he did before Mingshui Battle, and keep an eye on his every move. He Yan is asking Jiang (spear), since he was from escorting agency, he could ask around about who went in and out of Yuhua Temple where He Yan from He family was resting. A subordinate informed He Rufei that a Formidable Female General fought alongside General Fengyun, and HRF is suspicious if it's her. Mf I really dont know what else to say he just said "Whether she's HY or not doesn't matter, she has to die", like who the hell you to decide who lives or dies. HY has been running for hours in training field, and didn't want to stop even if her group of recruits asked her to, I remember she said while the investigation thing is going on, she'll need to hone her skills till then. And she's practicing Archery (basically tormenting herself to the point that she wouldn't be able to think about unnecessary things). I know that Zilan (CZ) doesn't like Xu Pingting but he have to maintain the facade in her presence, that they have a good relationship, his master Xu Jingfu already suspects him about the matter of Chai Anxi, but CZ managed the situation, while pointing out that XJ left Yezhou without permission, a punishable offence. Oh my CZ's life is in Xu Jingfu's hands, he has ordered his men to hide near, and when he drops the bracelet in his hand they're supposed to kill CZ. CZ decided to tell him that Anxi told them that XJF is the mastermind behind the Mingshui Battle, if CZ didn't tell him the truth he would've killed CZ to silence him. He told XJF that a young officer performed really well in this battle, and they'll make sure that the young officer is rewarded while XJ will face punished, then Veteran troops will definitely grow discontent, then conflicts arise, making XJ look incompetent in leading the troops. The moment was intense, Xu Jingfu was deciding whether to let CZ live or kill him, but his daughter entered the room at the right time, he didn't want to show his true colours in front of her. And let his spoiled daughter take Zilan away. He Rufei barged in the room, and was asking XJF that XJ has gained military merits again, and he's worried if XJ will regain influence, then Chancellor told him about Chai Anxi, and told him to be careful. HRF is suggesting eliminating XJ using the same method they used on XJ's father, colluding with Wutuos. He has devised a plan, Making the Wutuos attack Huayuan, he'll volunteer to fight and stage a show with the Wutuo Army while secretly give them Rundu's Military Defense Map in Secret so they'll launch a surprise attack on Rundu and when Rundu pleads for help he'll delay reinforcements. XJ definitely won't sit back and do nothing, and when XJ goes to Rundu they'll set a trap and kill him there. [IN THE NOVEL: He Rufei killed all her trusted subordinates who were close to her, and could spot differences that the masked person was different than before, and when she heard about it, she was devastated]. He Rufei plans to kill all her trusted 7 Warriors in Huayuan Battle, while the 8th one is the Governs the Rundu Garrison. He's suspecting that He Yan is alive and he will kill her Seven Warriors in Huayuan while using the one in Rundu as bait to lure her in Rundu to save him and plans to kill her there but if she is truly dead then it'll still be beneficial to him. He Yan is furious, she found out that that He Rufei was in cahoots with Xu Jingfu, they planned it all long ago, she's practicing her sword skills (literally venting out her anger) on the training logs, splitting them in half⚔️, while XJ was quietly watching her from far🫠. He really cares about her😭, he remembers everything He Yan did for the camp and him till now, he even left medicine for her in her room. The Emperor has sent Yan He and Chu Zhao to Yezhou Garrison. CZ told the emperor about Jiyang Battle (literally filtered it all), and told him about He Yan(a brave soldier), who fought alongside General Fengyun, and asked for a higher position, Minister of War. CZ, he asked for a reward for He Yan from the Emperor, the plan has to be executed, tbh hitting two birds with one stone, he does harbour personal motives (so asking reward for HY is obvious) but the main purpose is to sow discord. The Attack (a show) has begun in Huayuan and General Feihong is leading the army to Huayuan.
