Since the battle is over in Jiyang, peaceful again. This feels weird, the Young ladies were talking to HY the famous Female General, and HY was encouraging them to do whatever they want. While the ladies showed HY a pouch that the Bride must embroider herself for her dear husband, every stitch resembles her love for her husband, and He Yan was interested (in her hubby), she asked them about the Pouch and immediately all the Young ladies said "IT'S FOR GENERAL FENGYUN RIGHT!!" She wants to embroider one for XJ (the moon, that's when he realised that he was the Moon HY waa refering to). Not bad, HY is spending time with the young ladies doing embroidery 🪡. He Yan can win using any weapon but embroidery is really a challenging task for her. The young ladies suggested cooking for General Fengyun to please him. But she knows nothing about Cooking. When HY gave XJ the bowl, that smile of his🤭, precious. HY made salty noodles (too much salt, XJ couldn't help but frown)🤣. But he couldn't say no to her face🫠. When HY wanted to taste the noodles cooked by her, he just finished them at turbo speed so HY won't be able to know that she made the dish salty, HY was speechless🤣. HY was looking at the robes hanged on the bar to see if they were torn, so she could mend them (or try to), but there was none and just as she was going back to her room, XJ wanted her to stay some more time and he immediately tore his sleeve so she would stay with him a bit more, and HY heard it🤣, her smile said so much (like Xiao Dudu do you like me that much?🤣). It was obvious that he deliberately tore his sleeve but both of them were aware of what they were doing🤭. HY took her chance🌝, and asked him to take the robe off immediately 🌝🤣. Feinu really gotta learn about "Knocking on the Door" 🤣, he always enters the room at the wrong time 😂. Anyways Chai Anxi woke up. Chai Anxi could've fled but he fought against the Wutuos, and his hatred for General Xiao was because of his deceased son, Earlier XJ was leading the Vanguard in the battle and CA's son was one of em too, but XJ returned alive and even gained fame and prestige while his son died. XJ can't forget such a battle, 216 Xiao Soldiers died in that battle. His son Captain Chai Qian, was a brave man. Chai Anxi, 2 biggest irreversible mistakes of his life one was distrusting the Commander he's been following for Years, second was underestimating the son he raised himself, to be honest it hurts to see this petition, so many blood thumb prints. But what he did was a Sin, and it isn't a pardonable crime. Finally CA's talking about the Battle of Mingshui, BEWARE OF HE RUFEI! he told CA to hold back General Xiao's plea for help for a few days and someone influential was involved. XJ's asking the Princess to conceal the matter about her identity, since she joined the army disguised as a man. The Princess agreed and even reminded XJ that she is the only disciple of Liu Buwang and Jiyang will always be her Maiden Home. CZ and HY were talking bout Xu Jingfu and she was advising him to stop working for the villain. He offered (his feelings) to blaze a different trail for her, but she rejected him straightforward, that I need no one to blaze a trail on my behalf. XJ was a bit jelly to see that HY came alone just to bid him farewell. However Feinu suddenly came and reported that Chai Anxi's dead! Ofcourse Chu Zhao knows about this assassination, he knew about the Wutuo agents on the mission of killing Chai Anxi.

so both i & officer Luo were wrong, Pei Su isn't an apath - his father is. guess when Luo found Pei Su burying the dead bird he assumed Pei Su was the one that murdered it & not that his psychotic father did it. so safe to assume that Pei Su is right & his father is involved in his mothers death. Luo just not that good of a cop - sorry not sorry. ******************************************i get now why Pei Su is hounding Luo, but i don't get why he is trying to solve the case. is it to rub it in his face that Pei Su who is an "average" citizen is a better at solving crimes that Luo & his team should be solving? interesting twist

The Banquet Hall

A banquet for celebration. And Fan Xian intended to break into the imperial harem, asking Wang Qinian to find a locksmith for him to make an identical key. When Second was shown having lunch, he said that he considers Fan Xian as his Bosom Friend, comparing FX with him, thay both don't want to be before anyone else. While Fan Xian enters the Palace and it's hilarious that when the guards asked him if he was carrying any sharp objects, and he just took out the Dagger from around his calf, then took out the Steel needles from his hair, even took out the various poisons he was carrying with him, and suddenly the Second Prince arrived was looking at him with curiosity. I can't stop laughing 🤣, Fan Xian is so funny, When Guo Baokun (the guy who got beaten to a pulp by FX) suddenly came in front of him, he didn't recognise him🤣. And GBK was like How dare you forget me 🤣. And Guo's father silently stood behind him and told him to shut up😂. Fan Xian whenever he sees someone he's like "Who is he?"🤣. Just as the Apprentice of Great Master Si Gujian, Yun Zhilan entered the hall, Fan Xian felt his presence or we can say he felt someone strong just entered the hall. The Eldest Princess called Can Xian over just to tell him that she had been waiting for his attempt to kill her, but literally he doesn't want her death, he wants take her most precious thing, that is power and kick her out of the Capital. While the Second Prince and Crown Prince made a bet about who will win Fan Xian in the end, and the wager is life. A Great master himself the Eunuch Hong is sitting right outside hall, so if anything happened inside the hall, he'd head in. Exactly this is the first time that Fan Xian knelt down in front of the Emperor, everyone in the hall was kneeling so knelt too otherwise he would've pissed off everyone, but the Emperor is interesting he called Fan Xian over and told Yan Zhilan that FX is the one who killed the 2 female assassins (apprentices of his), and Yan Zhilan's quite proud about his skills and declared that I'll think FX is capable is he can beat me. The Second Prince was suggesting to make Fax Xian supervise the Imperial Examination this Spring, the Crown Prince followed after him. But The Emperor postponed it for now. The Emperor indirectly told the Eldest Princess to stfu in the banquet hall. The Literary Giant was trying to ruin Fan Xian's name by accusing him of copying someone else's work, he accused that Fan Xian's poem's first four lines were witten by his master and FX was greedy and copied the lines. While FX is totally ignoring his accusations. Hah! The old man even prepared a scroll.

i wont say i am hooked - there was so much info & yet i was confused lol... so guessing Pei Su is "zero-degree empathy" or a psychopath or sociopath - that's why he is so curious to find out about them. & maybe cause he comes from money he has evaded the diagnosis. ****************************************************************************************************************also i assumed Police officer Luo Wei Zhao & Pei Su were friends, but by the end of the ep u get that he was at Pei Su home trying to solve his mother murder - which was later deemed a suicide. from then on Pei Su started hounding maybe cause he was angry that his mothers death wasn't solved correctly. idk - ********************************************************************interested in watching this develop, but i hope the next ep will hook me or i might drop this...

Negotiation

The funniest thing about this episode was the negotiation, that excited head was telling Fan Xian to mind his words before but then we saw the negotiations 🤣, he was spouting everything that came into his mind, and even throwing papers in the air, and bickering🤣. Back to it, The Eldest Princess confessed Assassination was her doing, and Fan Xian plans to bring her down from her high seat abd kicking her out of the Capital, cause she loves power more than her life. While many officers (under Yan Ruohai's order) in the Investigation Bureau wanted to kill Chen Pingping, however Director Shadow told FX, then Shadow, FX, Wang Qinian all were together in the Dungeon and FX stepped forward to protect Si Lili too. But then realisation hits, and CPP said that Shadow was testing FX (when he told FX that we can just kill CPP and save our lives, but he refused), then weird thing happened, during the negotiation, a secret report came from Beiqi, that Yan Ruohai's son has been Captured by Beiqi and they want to exchange his life for Si Lili's and another strong fellow locked up in Dungeon. I'm curious to see him. While the Emperor orders for Yan Ruohai's son's safe return and giving Si Lili and that strong guy in exchange. I can't seem to understand Yan Ruohai, one second he's black another second he's white.

Fighting against the Wutuos

The Battle has begun, War is Cruel, the enemy is in front of the City Gate. While Liu Buwang is fighting against a group of Wutuo soldiers. XJ has ordered Feinu to lead the Vanguard out of the city, and Muyi will lead Jiyang troops to guard the gate. And Once the Gate opens He Yan is to lead the Main forces against the Wutuo Army, While XJ will lead the Elites to divert Huyate and his heavy armor troops (basically Cannon, and any destruction mechanisms) and lure them away from the battlefield, it'll give a better chance for Jiyang to eliminate the remaining Wutuos in the battlefield. I remember He Yan asked him in last episode to let her lead the Elite army to lure the Heavy Infantry and Huyate, but XJ refused to let her do this, and is set on doing it himself, since they'll need a big name if they want to stall time a little. Finallyyyyyyyy! Yessss! HY's idea is to impersonate Princess Mengji, she knows it's way too risky to lure the heavy troops army, the Leader can die if any mistake occurs, cause they got less troops than Wutuo, So She is set on leading Elites herself, can't let XJ do this, he's the commander if something happens to him, the army will he headless and will scatter away like sheeps. He is the Commander in Chief, he can't just take unnecessary risks. He agreed and ordered her to COME BACK ALIVE! The Gate has opened and Feinu's leading the Vanguard, While XJ's leading the main forces (Cavalry) out of the City Gate. He Yan impersonating Princess Mengji successfully lured Huyate and his Heavy Infantry away from the battlefield. The scene I saw in trailer finally will get to see it!! Pure Bliss! While CZ prays for HY to return alive. She led them in the river bank at the east of the City, since Wutuos were accustomed to land battles so naturally their horses weren't water adept, a gamble. XJ saw Chai Anxi fighting against the Wutuos. Ahhhhhhhhh! Finally I can se my dear He Yan in Armor riding the horse and fighting Huyate (spear battle), a good battle, Huyate died, but he kicked HY into the deep water, and she feared water (because of her fking brother and Ding Yi), but her hubby dived in to save her!! [NOT QUITE what I imagined it to be, I know they didn't have enough time for details, and the episodes are only 36 too, for the first time in this show I'm a bit disappointed here, I was trying my best to not compare things from the Novel, cause we all know they change a lot of things in adaptation, but even if you are a non novel viewer or novel viewer, don't you think the Battle in jIyang just started and ended easily? Like they won, HY killed Huyate just like that? They kept the Battle short, too short, that it doesn't even feel like a Battle to me. If they were going to do this, then it would've been better to just cut the Jiyang Battle Arc at this point] [this was my opinion so no mfs shall spout nonsense]. HY affer being saved from the Water, was hugging XJ🤭. The Whole City was happy. Ahhhhhhh! XJ kissed her underwater 🫧. And I knew Liu Buwang was going to die, his death was utterly sad, [IN THE NOVEL: XJ told HY that she can cry and doesn't need to hold back and left the room, then a long time passed when HY came out of the room with swollen eyes where her Master's body was kept]. HY cried for her Master's death (I don't think she has cried before, cause of all the impersonating and staying strong), while XJ stood outside the room. She came out with puffed eyes after crying. Her Master was one of those few people who genuinely cared about her and now he's gone. I feel sad for Mu Hongjin, some things aren't meant to be, they were destined to meet, but not to be together. XJ got CA, while CZ arrives ro visit him (ofcourse planning schemes), he took his leave. And XJ can't stop him from visiting or asking details, cause his position grants him that authority since he's the military inspector.

Schemes unraveling

The ladies do their best to try to teach He Yan the basic techniques of embroidery and cooking. There was effort put into both, but technique takes time to learn.😝 While it is indeed a trope about men dealing with bad food, there is still a lot of truth in what men will endure for the one they love when the meal doesn’t go as planned. He has not seen the pouch she made, but he will treasure it because she made it. Chai Anxi has awakened and he is more than ready to say why he did what he did. He was told to delay and this resulted in the death of his son. He firmly believed Xiao Jue used this as opportunity to advance his career. Xiao Jue painted a much different picture. They were greatly outnumbered and delayed. 216 volunteered to go fight to make their way to the general. Xiao Jue provided the signatures and prints of the volunteers and Chai Anxi collapsed when he saw his son’s signature. His last words were to beware general He RuFei. He Yan knows nothing of the meeting discussed. I am wondering if the brother was put up by the politicians to insert himself here, with the hopes that the general, son and He Yan all die for smoothest transition. This seems a likely scenario because the brother spoke up at court denouncing the happenings. This all fed into Chai Anxi’s belief about how things happened. Chu hears the testimony and opts to wait in having him killed. While they are at a meeting with the princess, word reaches them that Wutuo assassins killed Chai Anxi. The interesting part is that Chu left the Wutuo token for Xiao Jue to find. He knows the commander will not let it rest til he has discovered the truth. Here Mr gray again helps and hurts so it is never clear what side he is on or next move will be. He has learned what truly appeals to He Yan and why he will never be more than a friend to her. He plans to blaze the trail for her to ease her way for military ventures. He does not realize how arrogant he is being thinking she needs him to do this for her. She reminds him that her partner will walk with her side by side to blaze together. Like Cheng, he tries to get a confession from her that she chooses the commander, but he comes up and interrupts the conversation. He is not happy they are meeting and makes that point clear. The Princess and Xiao Jue have a private conversation where he asks her to keep He Yan’s identity a secret. She reminds him that He Yan is the last disciple of Liu BuWang and will always have a place in Jiyang. That she will not permit any bullying of her while she has anything to say about it. Chu has returned the mermaid dress and that is one less thing to tie him to He Yan. The guard looked happier with that choice. He Yan’s mind is swirling as she is going through her mind the course of the day she arrived for General Xiao. She knows she had no such meeting, but how to prove it. This is not boding well for our couple and I have a very long wait to find out what happens next.

Battle of Jiyang

They have managed to disable the battering ram and they have divided the elite group into two. They are presenting themselves as the two most hated of the Wutuo, General Fengyun and Princess. She is ordered to come back alive. The battle is fierce and an unexpected deputy general is fighting. He Yan leads another group to the water where they battle face to face with spears. She manages to take down the leader but not before he kicks her out over the water. I know this is a trope of the underwater kiss, but it is such a poignant moment for these two. He gets to kiss and save the woman he loves and together they get to hear the victory cries of the city. Their jubilation is cut short when they learn Liu BuWang was killed. He fought bravely, but the weapons were poisoned and the number many. He smiled at the end knowing his sacrifice helped keep the city of his princess safe. He sees her young version smiling at him and she disappears as he draws his last breath. The princess sees the bracelets and knows that he never betrayed her. She still was unclear about why he did not show, but she knows it was something beyond his control. The bracelets told her. She will always regret not seeing him the night he was outside her window playing. It will haunt her with bittersweet memories. She saw that he kept her dish as one of his favorites 20 years later. It let her smile. He Yan had a very intimate candid talk with the princess. She was warned to hold on tight to the one you love and not waste a moment. To be sure you say what you want them to hear so that there are no regrets. Xiao Jue guarded the door for her even as she guarded him when he mourned Que. He called her ugly for lying about her feelings. He continues to tell her candidly to her face to be freely herself in his presence. That anything less is unacceptable. As they talk of her history with her master she reveals he was one of less than a handful of people that had treated her kindly in her life. He is moved and reached out his hand to her, but rather lost in thought or gentle refusal, she does not take it. Her grief was laid bare and he made sure she was left undisturbed. The ladies had the kitchen brigade ready with kitchen utensils poised for use. While it may be silly in retrospect, they were just as determined as the males in their families to fight for their home. If manage to kill one would be good and two even better. These women see that they can unite and be more than they thought possible. That they do not have to hide and wait to be saved but can use what they have to defend themselves. They went from a group of sniping jealous women to sisters in arms fighting for home and family. Chai Anxi has been found and Drs Cheng and Song taking care of him. Chu makes his presence known and everybody wants to interrogate him about Minshui. Xiao Jue must acknowledge him because it is his job to investigate, but the added guards make it clear that all questions will have both parties present. I was not expecting to be tearful during the conversation between the princess and He Yan. I was actually pouting some yesterday that so much time was given to the princess’ story. But because they had, I understood the tacit understanding between these two women about the worthiness of this man. That his life mattered and that he accomplished good things in a quiet unassuming way. That his teaching mattered and that their continued works would be his legacy. That’s a pretty powerful behind the scenes message about how these two women became who they were by meeting him.
