Reviews of films in this genre tend to be more superficial, focusing on the actors' performances in nude scenes or the explicitness of the content. There are few in-depth analyses of the direction, cinematography, or the complexity of the script. It is mostly seen as a film for a specific adult audience, who seek this type of content in South Korean films.
In short, "나쁜 수업" (Bad Class) is a 2015 Korean erotic drama that explores taboo relationships and the complexities of a dysfunctional family. However, it's not a film that stands out for its narrative depth or positive critical reception. It's a title for those who already know and appreciate this niche genre of cinema.

Lost potential
A movie without any depth. While watching new movie, you expect to see something "different", something that you don't see in every single show- here you can't find this. Every aspect of this is predictable; before you even start, you already know the whole story and what would happen next, so it's boring.Story about teacher fighting against kids who don't face consequences for their actions? Yeah, we have all seen this before. Of course, you can make something enjoyable from this, but I think the director didn't know how.
I really like the idea of a teacher fighting against bad actions, but in this movie I couldn't understand it. If you want to help kids, you should do it by reporting it to the police or by finding the evidence, not by beating people. The biggest absurd here was that the teacher fought against Sugang in front of the whole school. Seriously? How is it even possible that the person who should educate had a battle in front of everyone? Teachers should represent responsibility and teach good behavior, rather than promoting violence as a solution.
When it comes to Sugang, I want to say that Lee Junyoung is a really good actor. I think he played his role very well, but at the same time, he didn't quite fit for this role. Like why a person from high school looked like a grown man? Rather than looking like a student, he looked more like a boss from a gang, who control kids. It didn't make any sense.
The movie tried to show a story about justice, but it didn't work out. It's illogical why only one person got the penalty, even though he wasn't the only person who bullied other people. Also, why didn't the teacher face any consequences? She was beating students, and despite her "good" intentions, she did bad things for which she should go to jail.

The Ghost Never Left
The third and final installment in The Shortest Distance Is Round trilogy is easily the most twisted, psychologically dark, and emotionally disturbing entry. What begins as a continuation of toxic obsession spirals into something even deeper: a slow-burn descent into the emotional rot of every character involved. At the center is Ayoma — manipulative, obsessive, dangerous — and somehow still the gravitational force in everyone’s life. Even in his absence, people orbit him.
The film does something bold — it explores how characters justify doing something so profoundly wrong.
The plot twist again was surprising.
If Ayoma was the black flag of the trilogy, then Haruto is the white one — raised in surrender.
I have no complaint about the ending. Someone had to stop what was going on. Haruto and Ruka not ending up together was the best possible outcome, you need to understand the characters well for that.
The storytelling isn't perfect, and some moments may border on exploitation — but there’s undeniable psychological weight. It’s not just about BL or romance anymore. It’s about obsession, trauma, regret and forbidden love.

My favorite old school romance.
This is cindrella story. The anime is actually the story of an underdog, the underdog being cindrella of course but they have taken only one small portion of the anime for this movie and its beautifully edited.
I absolutely loved it. These two had amazing chemistry. Everything is soo subtle and yet very beautiful. It just has the charm of pure love and romance.
Both characters are introverts and they express their love through sincerity. The supporting cast is also pretty amazing. This might just be one of the best casting for live action.
I won't spoil it for you. Just go watch it. It definitely gives you butterflies.

Kariiiiiin
A born actress, albeit she was perfectly cast for the role and didn't really have to act as a completely different person, although that's what you'll take for a movie debut (tbf she had to pretend to be smart- do not ask her to do a times table).Overall the story is fun and engaging, making you guess things until the very last moment. Even if the "villain" in this case was a bit of a pantomime villain after they've been revealed as one, personally I see that as fine, as well as imagining the discussion's that do take place when deceit and bribery takes place, I mean most politicians sell out to Israel for only a couple $1000, even if this story isn't actually about such a grand scale of things, it is one that alludes to the nature of the greater world outside of school "scoops" and how nefarious things can be.
If you liked this movie, I'd seriously recommend watching "Caster!", a TV drama airing this year which similarly goes over in essence the same topics but over a grander scale of time and levelled up to the "adult world".
Honestly for criticism it's kind of hard to give any, I would like to say that the pantomime-ness is definitely exaggerated but even if it is there's nothing inherently problematic about it, yet honestly I can imagine the politicians acting in the exact same manner of accord every time they take a bribe (funnily enough the big "scoop" that costed the LDP's first defeat in Japanese electoral history post 1955 system, revealed that they were taking bribes the entire time- they also accuse the other side of doing it, classic whataboutism to try and save face, big parallels with the story told here https://archive.ph/wRkkh ), so even this criticism is pretty much clutching at straws, since I do honestly believe these people giggle to themselves (I mean they've sold their souls already they may as well laugh and drop the eloquence act) when they see the suitcases of money they receive after voting on sanctions on a country they voted to invade or weapons licensing contracts or discriminatory laws against immigrants (looking at you Sanseito).
If you're an imaginative person you can probably guess the gist off the plot from my review- although you shouldn't be reading spoiler'd reviews if you are the type, if you aren't then I'd say watch this movie and you probably will thoroughly enjoy it while watching out for some of the parallels that I have mentioned.
The pacing style is one of sequential movement and action, which is exactly what a movie should be- the slow burn build up stuff can stay with the multi-episode multi-seasonal TV shows- while this doesn't sacrifice any of the quality within the scenes nor the layer's of mystery within the story. Seriously watch this.
Also Karin is actually just the goat or what

Cute and funny
Cute and funny. A nice watch if you're looking for something quick and entertaining. Kim Young Kwang was good in this role (as always) but it wasn't a great as him in Trigger or his special appearance in The Haunted Palace. Is it wrong that I like him better as a villain? Was this review helpful to you?
Hand of Destiny
@KoreanFilm is one of my favorite YouTube channels where I can watch classic Korean movies in great quality. Recently, I saw they published this film in 4K, and I clicked on it without knowing what to expect. The movie pulled me in instantly with its unusual storytelling, where every step is surrounded by mystery. The scenes are static and shown in high contrast, either in sepia or blue tones (cyanotype), so even though the film is in color, it appears mostly white-yellow or white-blue.The central focus of the film is a man—a traveler—carrying the ashes of his departed wife. He is constantly on the move, never finding a place to settle. We don’t know much about him, but the film compels us to follow his every step, confused and curious about what is happening. The movie doesn’t go out of its way to explain much about the characters, so as viewers, we are left to reflect on the purpose of the man’s journey. The ending doesn’t resolve the mystery in a straightforward way, but we are given some symbolic clues that help us understand who the three coffins mentioned in the title refer to, and what might be the fate of our lonely protagonist.
I found this movie quite strange, but I respect it, and I’m very glad I watched it. It’s a unique film that I will definitely remember.

Bihyung deserves better.
The fans deserve better.
the whole concept of adaptation deserves better. The only thing that didn't deserve better is the direction. Can someone please double check what script was actually being followed?
Please step back from adapting this story.
Leave the set. Drop the camera. move to the other job. Leave my orv alone
This wasn’t a movie.
I know the casting tried their best, but pretty faces can’t carry broken storytelling.

As someone who hasn’t read the book
I think this genuinely was a great movie as someone who hasn’t read the book before. I keep seeing bad reviews but I do think it was actually a great action/fantasy film and was very good. The acting and graphics was really good. again I could understand how people would be disappointed if it didn’t follow the books storyline but all in all I do think that this is a really good entertaining movie that had good acting, graphics and an overall flow. also was good to see a good variety of actors. Was this review helpful to you?

The Ghost Still Lingers
I am… flabbergasted.Going into this, I didn’t expect much. After all, the first film (The Shortest Distance Is Round) was filled with NC scenes and minimal plot — not completely hollow, but definitely leaning more on sensation than story. So I braced myself for more of the same.
But this sequel?
It surprised me — in the most uncomfortable way possible.
It’s not just that there are NC scenes again (and yes, they’re plenty), but this time, the plot actually matters — and it completely shifts the tone of everything you think you’re watching. By the end, I was left questioning not just the characters' choices, but something deeper, something existential.
The plot twist twist threw me.
It’s like that eerie storytelling device: even when a character dies, their presence lingers like a ghost, narrating the story long after they're gone. That’s exactly how this felt. A character who’s not even physically present dominates the emotional and psychological weight of the film.
It’s disturbing. It's messy.
But it’s also the only reason this film stands out. Without the psychological twist, it would've been just another string of explicit scenes.
Final Thoughts:
If you’re expecting warmth, love, or healing — this isn’t it. But if you’re drawn to twisted narratives, psychological games, and stories that make you deeply uncomfortable while still pulling you in... this film unexpectedly delivers. Just be ready for the chaos.

JUST READ THE NOVEL
"Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy" (2025) attempts to bring the beloved web novel to life but ends up as a cinematic misfire. Despite a hefty budget and a star-studded cast, the film struggles to find its own voice, leaning heavily on overused sci-fi tropes and flashy visuals that can't mask its narrative shortcomings. The plot centers on Kim Dok-ja, portrayed by Ahn Hyo-seop, a solitary office worker whose favorite web novel becomes reality. While this premise holds promise, the execution falters. Critics have noted that the film fails to evoke genuine emotion, rendering the characters' struggles unconvincing
Director Kim Byung-woo's vision seems muddled, with the film borrowing elements from "Dune," "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," and "Star Wars," yet failing to establish a unique identity. The result is a disjointed narrative that lacks cohesion and originality.
While the film's visual effects are polished, they can't compensate for the lackluster storytelling. The action sequences, though abundant, feel repetitive and fail to generate excitement. Moreover, the film's attempt to explore themes of fate and free will is undermined by its superficial treatment of these concepts.
In conclusion, "Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy" is a disappointing adaptation that squanders its potential. It may appeal to newcomers unfamiliar with the source material, but longtime fans are likely to find it lacking. For those seeking a compelling sci-fi fantasy experience, this film is best skipped.

Oh.. nooooo..
Oh I did not like this.As a psychological thriller - it was neither of that for me. I don't know if I wasn't in the right mood to appreciate this or.. no I just didn't appreciate it.
The story was incredibly simple - no complications of any sorts and relied completely on jump scares and gore to coast through. It wasn't scary but it was incredibly gross, so there. They tried to build this suspense by casting the lead as this extremely unlikeable character (more on that later) but the intrigue you want to build doesn't work when almost every detail of the story is revealed early on, and you don't do anything after that to develop it into something complex.
I waited and waited for it to get a bit more exciting or a even confusing but it every "twist", you can see coming clear as day, and those you don't see, rely on making you want to throw up.
And. Every. Single. Character. SUUUUUCKED. Not that the focus shifted from the female lead much but I just grew to dislike them all because they were basically terrible humans or became terrible humans through the course of the movie. There was maybe one character who was decent? Debatable even then, you just don't care about any of them at any point. In that regard though, acting was good because all of the actors were super convincing and I can appreciate that.
I just wanted a good psychological thriller - I didn't sign up for a borderline offensive, gore fest that couldn't keep my attention.

Um? Blurred Porno
You know… I didn’t expect to watch a porno that had the private parts blurred. Didn’t expect to watch an actual porno. I wasn’t sure what was happening mostly because I skipped through it for their parts but probably why I was so confused. Wasn’t sure if I was watching a movie or a porno. I was very confused though.Where I watched, it gave me like 15 dialog from each character in a whole paragraph so I wasn’t sure who was talking.
So did he not like the dude he was having funky time with? What was with the screaming? And then the random running with a limp and bruised face. I didn’t see any beat up scene.
My mouth was gaped the entire time because like I said, I didn’t expect to watch a porno. They had to have had their parts enter because they are completely nude touching very close to each other.
The kissing was hot lol

Atrocious in all aspects
Honestly speaking, giving this a rating of 1 sounds like a disrespect. Wish we all could give it a negative rating but we sadly can't. I could conjure up countless words just to express how atrocious and abysmal this movie is in terms of it's execution, overall narrative and how much it deviates from source material. But fellow novel fans have written it as well. Was this review helpful to you?
A fantasy romance that ticked all the boxes
First, a confession, I have not read any of the novels and I'm only vaguely aware of the anime series on Netflix. My friend @Nelly recommended it to me and that is good enough. 👍🏼As a standalone movie, it is fast paced and run through the extensive lore without a pause. That probably won't please the hardcore fans, but you roll with it as a casual viewer.
It is set in an alternate Meiji Japan circa turn of the 20th Century where “gifted” people with special powers try to hold off some kind of ancient evil. While the Gifted ones appears to be united in their noble task, it is far from the truth.
Our ML is one of them and a Captain in the special guards unit specifically tasked to hunt down the evil "insects". The FL is the daughter of one of the noble houses, but she doesn't seem to have any special power so she is treated like a servant as soon as her mother passed.
The similarity to Cinderella is obvious. That includes an evil stepmother and a nasty stepsister. Her life in that household is hellish. Her surprise betrothal to the ML offers her an avenue of escape.
If that is not enough, the Beauty and the Beast trope also joins the fun. The ML has a horrible reputation of being a beast to any female who tries to marry him in the name of political alliance. Just like in B&B, the FL tames the ML with her sincerity and "inner" beauty.
As a hopeless romantic, that is win-win right there. Throw in a handsome ML who looks dashing in uniform and a pretty FL who is vulnerable on the surface but has a backbone of steel, the movie can do no wrong.
But is it? I would be lying if I said the show is perfect. The world building is rushed and lack depth. No doubt a lot of lore and background information have been glossed over. It is understandable due to the time constraint, but you do occasionally feel that there should be more nuisances.
Speaking of the story, the Emperor's plot moves in mysterious ways. It is meant to be full of mysticism and symbolism but it is slow and stilted.
Also, the romance between our leads is very sweet but innocent. I'm sure they would die for each other but they always behave very properly. I'd love to see a bit of skinship. Fine, we'll just say their love is pure. (Grumble, grumble)
Finally, the production value is good, and the OST is very nice. The SFX is generally well done. There are many cinematic moments. However, its budget is limited, and it does show from time to time.
Don’t get me wrong, these are niggles rather than faults. In the end, the movie is an enjoyable romp with all the ingredients of a swoonworthy romance, Meiji style. The pseudo historical setting adds colour and novelty. Who can say no to some bonus fantasy actions?
The post-credit scene hinted at a possible sequel. I'd welcome that. More than anything, I want to see a traditional wedding ceremony. The bride in a fabulous kimono with all the trimmings and the groom in full dress uniform with a honour guard. Sweet!
