Textbook Age-Regression Comedy

Ms. Granny is entertaining and hits all the expected age-regression tropes. However, while it’s a funny watch, it doesn’t bring much new to the genre. Some creative choices, like the grandson’s musical direction and certain of the grandmother’s priorities, resulted in a confusing moral that made it harder to connect with the characters. It’s an entertaining one-time watch, but I would probably choose a different comedy to watch before rewatching this film.

First of all, Park ji hoon never disappoints. He has this incredible ability to say everything without saying a word, it’s all in his eyes. There’s a specific kind of "quiet" acting that's actually harder to pull off than big, loud emotional scenes, and he nailed it.

Honestly, this movie is such a sucker punch because it spends the first half making you laugh just so it can hurt you more later. There’s something so deeply human about watching a guy who’s just trying to survive, a total opportunist, suddenly find himself caring about a kid he was supposed to just "watch." It’s that shift from seeing the young King as a burden to seeing him as a son that really gets you. When things start going south, you aren't just watching a historical event; you’re watching a father figure realize he’s powerless against a world that doesn't care about love or loyalty. It’s that feeling of being completely helpless to save someone you’ve grown to care about that leaves you such a mess by the end. It’s raw, it’s unfair, and it’s exactly why we’re all sitting there in the dark crying our eyes out.

Even if scars don't disappear, they don't last forever.

I don't think I have physically sobbed harder watching anything in my life more than this movie. And I put emphasis on anything. I don't think I've ever cried this hard. My chest hurts, my skin feels achy with how much I've cried. That's how devastating this movie was.

From the very beginning of the movie, it had a very homely and authentic vibe to it. It wasn't a very big, massive production, but it was just a simple story that had a little bit of depth to it, and that depth was so absolutely incredible, I don't even know how to go about it. I genuinely loved how simple the storyline was, yet it hit so hard. I have no idea how to explain, but honestly, one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. And even though I put the rewatch value as high, I don't know if I'll ever be able to watch this movie ever again.

One of the most beautiful part about this movie was the relationship dynamics between the three main characters. And you can argue with me if you say it's only a romantic story or a love story, because I will not joke around about Jimin. She is the most incredible character I have ever watched, because it's just her power of friendship and love is so beautiful to me. She would and will do anything for her best friend. From the very beginning, she was so protective of her friend. She loved her friend, and all she did was care for her. And at the end of the day, all she wanted was Se-yoon to be happy, and I don't even know how to describe how beautiful their bond is to me. Towards the end, we can also see Jimin wasn't just Seo-yoon's friend. Obviously, Seo-yoon mattered to Jimin more than anybody, but as the whole group integrates and they become like a whole nice wonderful friend group, you can see how much pain she is going through, because she lost one of her good friends as well. It's not just about Seo-yoon. She lost a really good friend, and she doesn't even have the option to grieve in front of her best friend. Because at the end of the day, if you look at the semantics, Seo-yoon's boyfriend, love of her life, died, and she doesn't know about it, and her best friend can't tell her about it. It is just utter pain, the way that this story has been written.

And on the same side, Jae-won, who's an amazing, amazing character, well-written, everything, he's such a green flag. I have so much to say about him, I just don't know how to put it into words. But his thought of, I want to make this girl happy every day, even though I might not be there, I want her to be happy still. And the concept is such a beautiful, beautiful storyline.

I loved how at the end, Jimin managed to tell Seo-Yoon about Jae-won and everything because she couldn't hide it anymore, not just because Se-Yoon was constantly wondering and thinking about Jae-won, but because she as a person was grieving and it hurt her. And I'm so happy that she told Seo-Yoon about everything because it was better for both of them that way.

This was perfect, really. I don't have any opinion on how to change this movie for the better because it was utterly perfect. The ending was one of the most devastating endings I've ever seen in my life. Like, I don't know what to say. The last 30 minutes of this movie, all I have done is sob. I haven't smiled not once. And every time I managed to calm down, the characters started crying. And then when I saw them crying, I continued crying. There was a scene where Jimin was erasing all the stuff that Seoyoon had made about Jaewon so that she wouldn't remember him. And it showed a sequence of all the moments the couple had together. But now the guy was not there, so it was just Seo-yoon. And that broke my heart because it looked like she was alone. And it was just a cinematic masterpiece. Those scenes where her happiest moments where she was with the love of her life were just her alone. And she wasn't sad because she remembered she was happy, but she just doesn't remember who she was with. Absolute 10 on 10 movie. I will probably never watch it again.

My April Recommendation movie

Watched this because the recommendation challenge by 𝑫𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒐…

The story follows Suzuko Sato, a young woman who ends up with a criminal record after an incident involving a roommate. Because of this, she feels disconnected from her family and struggles to fit into society. Especially because her family also suffers because of her criminal record. Especially her younger brother.

Determined to escape her past, Suzuko makes a simple rule for herself: whenever she saves one million yen, she moves to a new town and starts again from scratch.

She becomes a "professional drifter," intentionally avoiding deep roots or long-term attachments.

However, despite her efforts to remain detached, she eventually meets someone who begins to challenge her habit of running away.

That's pretty much the story without giving anymore spoilers.

What I like:
+ Despite her effort to stay detached, I really like she still stay in contact with her little brother
+ Kinda love the ending, where she's in the end choosing herself.

What I don't like:
- This movie really bored me…
- I didn't really understand the ending until I asked AI. Haha…

The one thing people write about this, in my opinion the one that make me said touché is PHope: "However, the ending was so so, as it left many questions answered. And that felt like the movie was presenting just a glimpse of the girl's life."

Yeah unfortunately this movie just really is not my cup of tea. But I am glad I can watch this…

King Danjong

The King's Warden is a moving historical drama that beautifully brings to life one of Joseon’s most tragic true stories. The film follows the heartbreaking fate of King Danjong, the young sixth king of Joseon, who was forced off the throne by his ambitious uncle, Grand Prince Suyang (later King Sejo). After losing his crown, Danjong was exiled to Yeongwol, where he lived in sorrow and isolation. The story centers on the loyal warden assigned to guard him, who gradually develops deep respect and compassion for the fallen king. Their relationship becomes the emotional core of the film, showing humanity, loyalty, and sorrow amid political betrayal.

According to Wikipedia, King Danjong was allegedly poisoned at just 16 years old after being forced into exile. His tragic fate reflected the ruthless power struggles of the Joseon Dynasty, where political ambition outweighed loyalty and family ties. After being dethroned by his uncle, King Sejo, Danjong became a symbol of lost innocence and the devastating effects of absolute power. His downfall showed how the pursuit of the throne could lead to betrayal, manipulation, and the silencing of rightful authority.

The performances are powerful, with the cast delivering emotional depth and historical authenticity. The actor portraying Danjong captures both royal dignity and heartbreaking vulnerability, while the warden’s role adds warmth and strength. Stunning cinematography and period detail enhance the storytelling, making this film especially meaningful for viewers who appreciate Korean historical true stories. For fans of Joseon history, this is a deeply touching and memorable watch.

"They are not looking for sympathy, just for a chance"

Ballad from Tibet was exactly what I needed today. A feel good film based on a real life event, that showed the power of determination, dreams, and friendship. Oh, and the element that made it butterfly nip for me, it was a courageous road trip.

Thupten is a ten-year-old boy living in Tibet who only has the use of one eye. He has promised three of his blind friends-Sonam, Droma, and Kelsang-that he will guide them to the Lhasa airport. Thupten is in dire need of a surgery to save his one working eye, but his promise comes first. The trio have talked their way into an audition to be on a televised talent show in Shenzhen over 1000 miles away. The show has provided airplane tickets but they must make it to the airport first, a tricky proposition since they have to sneak out of town without the adults knowing. When their teacher comes looking for them, the four are forced to take a circuitous route to Lhasa, a daunting task as they wind up on foot and Thupten’s eye begins to rapidly deteriorate.

Despite the struggles the children faced on their trip, kind and generous people appeared to give them aid or advice. “A single cow must not leave its herd.” When disagreements blew up into arguments they rallied to stick together on their quest. One of my favorite elements was a biker gang who crossed paths with the adventurers. Another was the bag of “gifts/payments” the boys procured to hand out as they met people.

The acting was natural and minimal as the film used children with visual impairments. Most of the adult actors with the exception of a couple of them appeared to be either locals or lesser-known performers. My most major disappointment was that the song the children sang was muted for whatever reason. The end credits showed the actual children who made the trip with the sound so I’m not sure who opposed the song in the body of the film. The writing and editing were a bit choppy though the cinematography helped take my mind off those detriments. The message and poignancy of the children’s indefatigable spirits covered over most of the weaknesses as well.

The children weren’t perfect, they squabbled at times. For the most part, they stood by each other and faced the unknown darkness on the road to their dreams by overcoming their fears. Most were resigned to the jobs they would be offered after school-weavers and masseurs. Their main mission wasn’t to perform, it was to show the world that they had far more capabilities than people believed. Beautiful children with a song in their heart able to see more clearly than some of the people around them…mission accomplished.

30 April 2026

Note: I hadn't realized the problems of cataracts in Tibet. Perhaps this film brought that important concern to light with increased awareness and medical services.

Update: YouTube does have full sound with the children singing the song separately. Please check the link Anusaya provided below.

TIMELINE CHAOS..

The connections in this story are insane. Everything feels tied together in this weird but smart way that slowly unfolds .
At first it feels like a normal thriller but then the whole timetravel phone connection thing starts messing with your head in a good way.
The character development is actually strong especially how both leads lives start affecting each other across timelines.. that was really well done.
The way the timeline keeps changing between hope n loss is crazy. One moment you feel like everything is finally okay… and then bang reality twist again.
I was NOT ready for that emotional shift.. especially the reunion moments and then what follows after… it hits way harder than expected... dark turns.. kinda mentally exhausting too.. but yeah worth watching

beautifull tragic masterpiece

i swear i didnt see that comin... first time something like this actually hit me this hard
At first it felt like a normal suspense thriller… but slowly it turns into something way deeper n by the end its not just about mystery anymore.. morelike emotional destruction
What makes it hit harder is how you start understanding both sides.. it doesnt felt like simple hero vs villain but like two people who are connected in a very messed up.. painful way.
The ending scenes in the hospital… esp involving both leads… that literally moved me
The way things are revealed gradually makes you rethink the whole story again in your head... like youre trying to process what just happened even after it ends
Acting is totally insane... both leads carried the intensity perfectly till the very end.. TBH i have never seen a movie like this before.. its disturbing, emotional n brilliantly twisted
Definitely one of those films that stays in mind after watching

"You shouldn't be sad that it's over, you should be happy that it's happened"

There's something really authentic and beautiful about this movie. It hits you very hard in the best way possible. I went into this thinking it was just a deep romantic movie where the male lead dies, and it's sad but really good. But I genuinely underestimated this movie's depth. I really appreciate the fact that both of the relationships have so much depth in them, which is both the platonic relationship and the romantic relationship. In here, you really can't compare those two because they have their own stories, yet the basis of this is that love is so pure in this movie.

The main character loves so purely, I just don't know how to explain it. She will do anything for her best friend, even if it breaks her own heart. And I really don't need to go on at length about how beautiful that is. And on the same side of the coin, we have the best friend who will also do anything. I didn't really sob towards the ending as much as I sobbed when those two fought because their bond is so beautiful, and it broke my heart to see them fighting when, at the end of the da,y they love each other so much, and both were hurt, yet would do anything to make the other person feel better because that's just how pure their love is.

The ending to me was such a bittersweet moment because you can see that Bora has moved on. She's an adult, she has a job, she has her own responsibilities, but at the end of the day, she will always remember him, no matter how much time has passed. And when she was watching the movie, she wasn't devastated at the fact that he was deceased, but she took it very well, I would say. Obviously, yes, she was heartbroken, but I think in the back of her mind, she probably knew or thought that something might have happened. And the ending of this movie was so beautiful that, yes, even though it hurts, it's a good thing that it happened.

There's this one quote that says, "You shouldn't be sad that it's over, you should be happy that it's happened". And I think that is the best way to put this movie. And yeah, such a beautiful, beautiful movie. It broke my heart a little bit, but I think people are giving it a lot more credit than it deserves in the sadness department. Of course, it was devastating, but I think the ending was really bittersweet, and I loved it. It did not make me bawl my eyes out, but it made my heart ache in a good way.

What a crock of impossible nonsense - makes a mockery of the real condition

What a waste of a bunch of superlative actors delivering their roles in one of the worst scripts ever made into a movie.

What a joke was made out of her ailment!!

I mean really .. no reference to how she is even attending regular school with her condition.
How she is even bonding with her new schoolmates!!

Keep it a secret?

Really ?? 🫪

everyone in the school would have found out on day 2 that something is wrong with her because she definitely cannot remember all the 20 or 30 children in her class and what they did.
Here I am assuming that her Bestie is someone she knew before the accident. In this kind of amnesia, you remember most of the stuff from before the accident; after that pretty much the entire memory is compromised.

Imagine looking blankly at your teacher and having no idea who she is, she’s not really clicking pictures of every person that she’s meeting and writing long notes to remember next day. That’s superhuman!!!

And this kind of amnesia you don’t have to fall asleep, You pretty much can forget every several hours. What happened earlier in the day.

A child like this is usually learning in a social environment geared to support her.

There was absolutely no sign of any kind of awareness or support in the school in her house amongst her Friend, nothing!!!🙄🙄🙄

What sort of crappy research did the scriptwriter do?

This drama makes a complete mockery of people suffering from the real ailment.

This drama could been made to raise awareness of the condition and what happens to the people around the person suffering from it.
The sweet love story could have been a side plot to weave the story together.

If anyone watched Born to Run (ok that was a drama - but still you’ll get what I am talking about ) you’d know what it means to make a life after an accident leaves you impaired - and this anterograde amnesia is AS serious as a physical amputation - it’s an amputation of the mind and its memory making ability

confusion 70% then trauma hits

Watched this movie and honestly… it’s a weird experience to explain.
(THIS IS THE TYPE OF MOVIE THAT STAYS IN YOUR HEAD FOR A WHILE AFTER IT ENDS SO MAYBE THINK TWICE BEFORE WATCHING JUST BECAUSE ITS POPULAR IT MIGHT NOT MATCH EVERYONES TASTE PATIENCE AND MINDSET LEVEL)
For most of the runtime it felt slow and honestly a bit confusing like I kept wondering what’s even going on why things are happening and how all of it is connected... the setup of the locked game and the mystery behind it takes a long time to actually make sense.
But then slowly.. the truth starts coming out and that’s where it gets disturbing.
The story deals with very uncomfortable themes and moral questions... things like secrets guilt memory and consequences of actions... and yeah it gets pretty heavy in the final part.
The last portion of the movie is definitely the strongest... that’s when things FINALLY click and the emotional + psychological duo actually hits... the ending left me with a strange unsettled feeling... not fully satisfied not fully disturbed like just… stuck thinking about it.
The performances are solid ..ngl .. especially the characters involved in the core conflict... they really carry the intensity of the final act well.
But overall the pacing is definitely not for everyone.. it takes a long time to get engaging and most of the IMPACT comes very late in the film... so like aninteresting idea… but very hard to sit through.

this mov didnt try too hard ... and still got me

bhaee i just watched it and like i swear i didnt even expect much tbh.. just started it casually and slowly it pulled me in and not even in a dramatic way.. just veryy naturally
the thing is its SUCH a simple mov... no over the top plot, no heavy romance, no suspense stuff.. just a straightforward story AND THATS EXACTLY WHY IT WORKS
the chemistry of main leads..their bond?? messy, annoying, funny but also so reall.. like they are not tryin to be perfect and thats what makes it hit.. you can actually feel that connection without big emotional dialouges and all
and bro the way emotions build up.. thats not instant..its kinda gradual..like at the end you are sittling like ..oky y am i feeling so much?
The ending tho… yeah it hits.. i thought it might go completely heartbreaking but it keeps that small hope alive which I actually liked... didn’t feel forced... lowkey made me emotional without doing too much.

I can see the punch, but not the love

I think the love they wanted to express here is family love, not the BL.

the reason i found this underwhelming is that it wasn't what i thought it was, because i thought it's a light bl with a side gang story, but this is about family and brotherly love with high school gang fighting in the centre of it all.

It's not a bad movie per se, just not what i expected, and i found it pretty standard and mediocre in term of everything, story is predictable, acting is ok-ish, chemistry is meh! So there is basically nothing to write home about ~

I wouldn't recommend it, but i still give my thanks to whoever subbed this movie ~
