First of all, I enjoyed watching it. I liked it. In short, the plot is about the love between a mortal and an immortal. I liked the series, but of course, it's not without flaws. Some parts really tired me out. I didn't like it, but I watched it anyway. I especially couldn't understand how a less capable person could challenge a ruler, overthrow him, set traps, and humiliate him. Then, he easily eliminated him. This revealed a contradiction. There were many such things. Similarly, it was strange that a mortal was given powers that an immortal couldn't have. But the series is fantasy, they said, "play it however you want." And that's what they did. Some things need to fit the story. Without them, a sense of unity isn't achieved. There's a disconnect. Apart from that, the direction, props, costumes, action, and acting were all very good. I liked it. Especially Miles Wei; he's very well-suited to playing the villain. He acts well. I must say I liked him first. As for Dilraba, the queen role suited her very well; such weighty roles suit her very well. She also had good chemistry with Arthur Chen. Arthur is a very tall actor, and Dilraba was a perfect match for him. They made a great duo; I can say they got along well both physically and emotionally. I liked both of them. Similarly, Zhang Li was very beautiful. She acted very well and with great chemistry. Baron Chen was given a nice image; I liked his image first and foremost. And him as well. Gao He Yuan also suits these roles very well. I've seen him in similar roles many times. I wasn't surprised. Ding Jia Wen and Fu Bo Han (the young actor) were the actors who caught my attention. I recommend it to those who haven't seen it.

Well done drama with a fresh take on palace politics

unlike most time travel/rebirth dramas this one explores more morally grey questions about destiny & fate along with the cause and effect or more the butterfly effect of how one's action can vary a timeline.

Really suprised by the intense negative comments here. I honestly went in with very low expectations but maybe,hence came out enjoying this a lot more.

Other than the plot, A++ For the casting-they all performed excellent in their roles.I Enjoyed ZLH a lot here (almost comparable to how much I enjoyed him in POJ- But atleast I got more screen time of him here.)
Fight choreography, background score and costume deserves praises as well.

Downsides
- The poor '1st life' script - seemed a little tooo crazy to believe for me.
-Chen he yi 's acting- I found him really difficult to relate to even with all his excessive screen time in the last 5 episodes where they tried to humanize the hell out of him.
-OST- Other than 1 or two main tracks the rest are forgetable.

Overall an enjoyable watch, rewatch value may differ though person to person.- 9/10

I REALLY LOVE THIS!

This is the best multi-couple series thing. It wins that award for year 2026 although it was a very long project like it took years since last year.

I really like this series altogether and I like how they had separate titles and storylines and stuff like each couple had the chance to focus on their own story and not just one series with all couple stuck together like glue.

I really like that that's cool! like how P'Hill & P'Easter, P'Johan & P'North, P'Tonfa & P'Typhoon, P'Arthit & P'Daotok, and P'Tiger & P'Nao has their own series with their own title and own ost thats cool!

Purely Dissappointed: Worst FL, her terrible acting outshined all other good aspects about this show

I had high hopes for this series. But it’s just lame and illogical. The pace of the series is also boring. Three episodes in and the hilight isn’t about the case but only about how stupid FL can be.

The writer really did ruin this show and its characters. FM is wasted. Waste of production and other crews. For ML, even tho his logic for caring after the girl who has zero trust in him doesn’t make sense. The actor did a good job on portraying complex emotions however it wasn’t enough for him along to carry the show. ML and FL have no chemistry. Basically FL failed to bring her character to life. She has only one emotion on her face and that is blank. Other supporting actors did an ok job. Deng Kai’s screen presence is strong here. He often steels the attention whenever he appears on screen.

Production is good. Good lighting and scenery. Music somehow doesn’t complement the script.

Watching this show is equal to watching a fight between Wang Xingyue to carry this show and watching Julia Xiang kill it considering the other aspects are moderate. She is just there to say her lines like a puppet and her damage is so strong that it’s painful to keep watching for the sake of the crime solving progress.

All in all, the storyline and unsuitable lead actress really complement each other to make this worse than it should’ve been. Rather than forcing someone into the role it’s better to choose someone else who can carry it.

Story wise, it’s worth watching towards the end considering all the twists and turns of the case. All you have to do is endure the first half of the series to experience the fun part towards the end

Liked this more than H2H

After H2H i didn't have high expectations from this couple but looks like they do have some good dramas in their basket. I really liked this story. I was expecting it to be more supernatural like SurfJava's story but turns out this one is pretty normal. Just a jid pretending to be a fortune teller cz he can't make friends. This reminded me of My school president in a lot of ways. My heart kinda ached for Mavin other than him being bad with people, people hating him cz he is good at something and doesn't seem to be trying hard just felt unfair and relatable but unfortunately irl people don't regret doing such things like the camp kids did.

Overall i liked it the only thing that bothered me is that we didn't get a timeskip to see if they stayed together after Err returned.. the ending kinda felt complete n incomplete to me

The biggest hit of 2026 so far

“Pursuit of Jade” is being called the drama of the year so far, and I can’t help but agree. This show shines as a testament to its tried and true in the field of C-Drama. Our actors, as to be expected from them all, delivered incredibly compelling performances. Our writer (who also wrote such hits as “Love like the Galaxy” and “Coroner’s Diary) delivers a moving and engaging story that takes you through generations of hurt and trauma in a world where only love is comparable of breaking through the barrier. Our director (who also directed my favorite Chinese drama of all time, “Blossom”) gives us another impeccable work of cinematography, imagery, costuming, and acting.

Does “Pursuit of Jade” have its faults? Of course it does. What drama doesn’t? I found myself frustrated at moments with this or that, but never did I want to quit. Those things simply begin to fade away whenever you step back to look at the drama as a whole and know, without a doubt, you watched something amazing, something that took you on a journey with our absolutely incredible cast.

It is most definitely worth the watch.

Let’s make the female lead as stupid as possible because this is how we see Chinese women

The series opens with a visceral betrayal in an African hotel, where the FL is blindsided by her husband’s long-term affair. The justice is non-existent from the jump. The ML - the hotel’s General Manager knows exactly what’s happening and chooses to collude with the husband to hide the mistress, prioritising a business deal over human decency. This sets a bleak tone where professionalism is just a cover for being a complicit snake.
Back in China, the narrative descends into a repetitive cycle of the FL’s denial. Despite catching her husband in a hotel room, she allows herself to be gaslit and continues trying for a baby, unaware that the mistress is already pregnant. By Episode 3, the FL isn't just a victim; she is a doormat, clinging to the wreckage of a 10-year marriage.
The power dynamic in Episodes 4–6 is genuinely hard to watch. After the husband schemes to hide his assets during the divorce, the FL is forced to take an entry-level housekeeping job at the Purong Hotel. The writing reaches a peak of misery porn when she is forced to work a birthday party for her former mother-in-law, where the husband and mistress are treated like royalty while she scrubs floors.
The most frustrating element is the FL’s complete lack of agency. Even when confronted by her own parents, she lies to protect the husband’s reputation, claiming they "fell out of love" rather than exposing the affair. This high road behaviour isn't noble; it’s delusional. It leaves her parents vulnerable to public humiliation and allows her "greedy bastard" of a father to potentially work against her interests for his own gain.
Six episodes in, the narrative favors the antagonists while the protagonists are systematically disadvantaged. The husband faces minimal repercussions for his actions, while the mistress continues to advance her career. With a morally ambiguous ML and a protagonist who has yet to assert herself, the first six episodes present a challenging viewing experience that seems to prioritise character suffering over narrative progress.
I want to drop the show, but I will probably just end up hate watching cause this is really difficult to understand how this can be classed as good Chinese drama when you have to watch a female lead get constantly embarrassed and show absolutely no backbone to when she’s being humiliated.
Despite a major promotion at the end of Episode 10, these episodes represent a low point for the narrative. The FL remains trapped in a cycle of virtuous suffering, it’s probably the polite way to put it, where her only character trait is her willingness to absorb abuse. The storytelling has moved from misery porn into the territory of professional and personal absurdity.
Episode 8–9 see a medical emergency with the elderly man (Mr. Tan) should have been the FL's first win, but the show immediately undercuts it. A slacker coworker steals the credit, and the FL—in a display of total passivity—simply lets her off. The misery board peaks when the FL’s parasitic father saddles her with his guesthouse debt, leading to her being manhandled by debt collectors. The ML rescues her by paying them off, which doesn't feel like a hero moment, it feels like a transaction that transfers her dependency from a scumbag father to a morally ambiguous boss.
The "big win" occurs when the corrupt housekeeping supervisor is sacked for stealing shampoo and the FL is promoted to take her place. However, the victory is hollow. The FL is a supervisor in name only. Her team openly mutinies and she offers zero resistance, allowing herself to be undermined at every turn.
In a shocking display of professional incompetence, she immediately agrees to cover for a slacker who messed up a booking. By protecting the rot she was promoted to fix, she proves she is still a doormat, just in a higher-ranking uniform.
The ML is a bit frustrating too. Despite being an undercover executive investigating corruption, he tucks his tail when a difficult customer demands his suite. Instead of exerting authority, he retreats, while the FL stands by and offers a perfunctory apology for his humiliation. Both leads are now defined by a shared cowardice that the show tries to pass off as patience or professionalism.
At nearly 30% through the series, The Epoch of Miyu is failing to deliver on its starting over premise. The FL isn't growing; she is just moving from one toxic environment to another, carrying the same lack of self-respect with her. The villains continue to prosper, the protagonists continue to submit, and the disaster zone Purong Hotel only seems to get worse.
Ep 11-13. The ML is officially appointed GM and publicly clears the FL's name, but the victory is hollow. While the ML tucks his tail in a boardroom battle, failing to fire the corrupt directors, the FL takes professional doormat to a new level.
Even after overhearing her staff call her a pathetic doormat, the FL doubles down on kindness. When a housekeeper is caught rifling through a guest's bag, the FL refuses to sack her. Instead, she attempts to bribe her subordinates to like her by paying for their unapproved overtime out of her own pocket.
This show, sheesh. You have a GM who won't manage and a Supervisor who subsidises her own bullying. The show has officially traded character growth for a total gaslighting mass.
I’ve now watched up to episode 17 and the ML is still a volunteer martyr. He’s securing deals and running audits just to hand the prestige back to a corrupt family that hates him.
Watching the FL being this subservient to a mistress in the hotel is infuriating. When will this misery porn end?
Dropping for three weeks as they are now only releasing one new episode per day so I have no intention of torturing myself because when I come back, I will get through it and double quick speed. The show is currently 90% character humiliation and 10% progress.
Episode 19 to 38. I’ve now watched the rest and it was rubbish. The story did its best to let everybody off for all their crimes but even the ex-husband, the mistress and the main antagonists ending was all a bit underwhelming and deeply unsatisfying. Meh!

who is the real you?

I don’t think I can truly find the right words to explain what this movie is about, but what I can say is that it was absolutely amazing! I have a deep admiration for Sakura Ando and appreciate the projects she chooses; she is such an interesting actress with a remarkable range in her performances.

This movie explores themes we don’t often discuss: identities. One's identity is the most important part of who we are, yet for most of us, it can become something we want to reject in order to be someone else. When we do that, who is the real you? This film not only addresses identities but also examines how society can persecute individuals based on who they are.

The movie also highlights a phenomenon known as "evaporation," which refers to how tens of thousands of people in Japan voluntarily disappear from their established lives each year without a trace. Driven by overwhelming social pressure, shame, debt, or failed relationships, these individuals abandon their families, jobs, and identities to live anonymously, often aided by a specialized industry of "night movers" and this pretty much what Mr X used ( fake Daisuke).

How much can societal labels affect you? I think we all understand that feeling when the world sees you as someone you are not and stamp on you label or an identity. This is illustrated through the character Daisuke Taniguchi, who, as the son of a convicted murderer, changes his identity to start anew after being defined by his father’s actions. We also see Akira, who was born and raised in Japan and speaks only Japanese, he is constantly belittled due to his Korean heritage and feels like an outsider. Similarly, Yuto struggles with his identity after his mother changes her surname following her divorce and remarriage, resulting in confusion about who he really is.

The film delves into the complexities of identity, often showing that people do not truly know one another. For example, Rie, who was married to a false Daisuke, wanted to uncover the identity of the man she thought she knew. Ultimately, she realized that she didn’t need to know the “truth”; Daisuke’s name became irrelevant because he was the person she knew at that time. This emphasizes that we can only truly know each other through interpersonal connections. A person can embody many identities at once or change quickly, and none of those identities are any less “real” than another.

This is just a beautifully crafted movie, and I can’t fully convey all its elements in this review. It is filled with depth, thought-provoking questions, and insightful answers. The story is powerful and made me reflect on my own identity. I highly recommend this film as a masterpiece of Japanese cinematography, and I hope it reaches the right audience to appreciate the gem it truly is.
One’s identity is a vital aspect of who we are; however, for some, it can define them in a way that makes them yearn to reject it and become someone else. If or when this transformation occurs, who is the real you?

My only complaint is that I wish Sakura Ando had more screen time. She is an extraordinary actress, and her expressiveness makes her performances uniquely talented.

coming for the crown

The answer to that is you already are.

I have been waiting for this. When I say waiting, I mean that this drama has been hand crafted just for me. All the way back when I was watching Scarlet Heart with IU and the cameo from Wooseok. It seems like a match made in heaven really. A drama where the visuals match, ages, 'aura'. And the production behind this knows that too, maybe a little too much.

Let me explain:
So the story isn't that amazing or unique. It's actually pretty basic and predictable. It's a shame because the leads in this drama are huge stars that deserve something better. I think that the premise and end result is what it is though. It's a traffic drama, using big stars and glamour for views, and unfortunately the first two episodes showed me nothing more than that. I say that because every single scene that they could push for more, the direction and focus lacks.

Everytime the male lead- Prince Yi-an played by Byeon Wooseok - enters. It literally pans over his face, body, etc. It's honestly pretty shameless to me. They know he is handsome, I know he's handsome, Wooseok, everyone knows he is handsome. But I don't feel the need to show that every time? I get it- he is the grand prince and a majesty, a royal, but going again and again over him like that is sort of exploitative? It overlooks his talent as an actor, and makes the drama seem cheap and just trying to hook you in off the good looking people. To me that is a shame.. I compare to other dramas that are the same genre, same actors and all that, and I see how it was done better and compare- and that is why I'm dissapointed, because it does not have to be done this way.

The same goes for IU, who is an amazing actress. She is a gem of this generation, and coming off of When Life Gives you Tangerines I am sort of having some sort of whiplash here. The characters are so different and that credit goes to the acting of course. But the directing choices behind it- really? It just goes cheap. It's just shots over the outfit, shoes, and lacks substance. This drama seriously has a problem in finding how to hook an audience organically, without all the flash, because it comes across as cheap and stupid. I feel like I am watching fodder for the public. Like an ad, rather than a compelling and worthwhile story.

But hey, I am still a sucker. I have parts I enjoy, but wish that the drama would stop taking itself so seriously and go in a more fun and camp way. The monarchy system is interesting and the best thing that comes from it is the styling. Other than that it is patriarchal, and makes no sense in the modern day. That is why I wish they pushed it to the more 'camp', and there actually is no camp here at all... If they made it more fun and played with the satirical aspects and back and forth between reality and fiction, it would be more fun and less depressing to see a society with that monarchy still in tact. Like Princess Hours.. even like Wooseok's flagship drama, Lovely Runner. A drama that was genuinely fun, nostalgic. Nostalgia would fit this drama perfectly, and I see a missed opportunity with how much they are pushing the modern day royalty.

I don't really like the plot of needing to marry a guy to be taken seriously. It doesn't make sense coming from IU's character, who is so confident despite that one thing.. If they showed how it affects her I may, but she has everything - money, looks, and just wants the ambigiuous 'more'. Oh god that's lazy writing. But! Without it how would she be entangled with the grand prince? I hate to say it but the FL is not likable. She constantly says how she has everything, and is rude to the people closest to her. I don't feel bad for her at all. She is a commoner, but that's a tight rope to walk in terms of making the audience feel bad. Because 99% of the audience is a commoner, and 99% of the audience is more of a commoner than her. Most people aren't the CEO of a business and on the inside of a chaebol family. And even if they play the card that she is illegitimate so I should feel bad. Why? She is successfull and taken seriously. And she is able to act horrible to the people around her but I should look past that because she is a half-sibling? I don't want to go into it that much, I just watch the drama and think to myself I really don't like her, she is mean. And it can be done in a way that shifts your perspective, hence Queen of Tears, the FL was abrasive but determined and realistic. Here the motives and pressure is dull for her, if she doesn't marry the grand prince what bad will happen.. nothing really.

Nonetheless, this drama is something I am watching. I will give it credit there. I like how the King is a young kid and how drama builds off of that. My favorite parts of this drama are the high school flashbacks, where we see some chemistry between the leads. I can't say much of anything else.

average-ish

Basically this is a somewhat average vibe drama with a super predictable "the lie is revealed" final conflict. Ignoring nitpicky & not so nitpicky flaws, the biggest issue is that for me the immersion is just not there. Everything is too fake, the balance of fantasy and reality is not maintained properly, nor is the chemistry between the leads quite good enough. Painfully there is a second forced separation for the main couple somewhere around half way in, because one is not enough apparently..
In general I just don't like the ML character that much, I don't know..

I liked the 2 young side couples, but they could have had more screen time + noble idiocy issue.

Anyway I don't feel like giving this more than a 7 considering that I've seen so many great vibe dramas, this is just not anywhere near that standard. (Romance Is a Bonus Book, One Spring Night, A Piece of Your Mind, First Frost and many others..)

grappling 101

I have always been interested in action dramas and tend to gravitate towards them when choosing a show to watch. Funny enough, I don't find a lot of dramas that have a main plot that is - fighting. When I say that, I mean just fighting. This drama is exactly that- it's a drama about MMA, and that's it!

So it's not too deep with a story, but its entertaining enough. Again, I rate dramas based on if I think they accomplish what they want to. Here isn't something too serious, it serves its purpose. What is the purpose... to tell an underdog story? I don't think so.

I think this drama is eye candy, using popular idol-actors and watching pretty boys on screen. I know that sounds shallow, but that's what I see. Almost all of the cast comes from a group, so it checks out. Still, this drama serves more! It has good acting, and a plot that isn't deep enough to flood me, just enough that I stay watching. So I was pleasantly surprised with this drama.

My only problem is that I'm having the hardest time finding where to stream it. I also guess the story isn't that 'deep'. This drama isn't amazing, but its does what it needs to. I've been impressed with watching the different fighting styles, especially the grappling. There must have been a lot of work behind the scenes to get those scenes done. I can't say much because I know nothing about the subject matter, but as a viewer I overall am enjoying what I'm seeing.
