started strong then just dragged
Caught this drama on Youku, wasn't sure what to expect, it was one of those dramas where someone from current day gets pulled into a fantasy world simulation of some sort. As usual the CGI was quite good and on par with other dramas of this typeThe drama started strong the first 10 episodes or so kept me interested. Then the plot just started to drag, nothing really happens for 5 or 6 episodes, some of the main characters get amnesia in a big battle scene and the drama spends the next few episodes watching them trying to regain their memories. Then another main character gets amnesia, and again we spend a few episodes of them trying to regain their memories. The villains are boring and uninteresting. One of the main villains is constantly lying and yet everyone believes all of the lies being told.
It was a struggle to finish this drama and even had to fast forward through episodes to get through it. This drama probably could have been shortened by at least 10 episodes.

Not an 'any of the tag words' - story, but a beautiful adult love story
I just finished watching this in one go and just want to say that this is one of the most beautiful love stories I have seen yet.I don't watch any of the modern, copy and paste feminised BL dramas for many reasons I don't want to elaborate.
But I watched this and was deeply moved by the way this story was told, and by the fact it was NOT about cheap, repetitive, one-dimensional, childish, unrealistic romance mainly made for teenage girls.
In fact, this was not about sex and cheap butterflies in the stomach triggers at all. It was about human relationships and it was about love in different shades, and life coming in between in all sort of ways. I was touched by many things in this, by the FL with the story of her childhood with a mother who completely ignored her as well as I was touched by the main male characters and especially the last few episodes.
I also liked it was multilingual and shot in different countries, one of them my home country even. I loved that the two male lead looked ordinary, in a way of their natural complexion instead of chalky white makeup and pink lipstick. I liked that their hair was messy when they got up in the morning, that they had dark circles under their eyes when they were stressed and desperate. I simply liked they looked like real people for a change.
This was not something to watch in between or for escapism and feeling better, many things here were without words and explanations. Many things were about reading the room, about glances, about guessing what a character might think in one moment or another, so, in short, it was something for people with brains - which I crave so much and which is so very rare these days.
Of all the actors I only knew Ok Taecyeon, whom I liked because he was in one of the first dramas I watched and liked about ten years ago.
I think his role as Jo-han here was by far his most serious, adult and actingwise his best role.
I enjoyed this a lot and will certainly rewatch it some time.

It hurt me!! But I loved it.
I've been waiting for this series ever since the casting was announced, I truly couldn't care less if it was gay or not I just wanted to watch it because I really like these two actors.I gotta say that I am absolutely impressed with how good this series is, I didn't know what the plot was going to be exactly as I avoided reading the description and didn't watch the trailer, but that poster, it was obvious that it was going to be a sad one, but I didn't expect it to be this sad!! I cried, I'm still crying, from the very beginning it's just so gloomy, although there are cute happy moments it's mostly sad. It is still worth it, the story is beautifully told, the acting is fantastic and the episodes are short so it's an easy binge.
I loved it, it hurt me, it hurt me so that I need to go watch some cartoons or something cute to lighten my mood, but I still would recommend and maybe watch again at least 1 more time.

It’s sad
I read about it but what i read was deceiving. I would not have watched otherwise so i am warning you. Its sad. No romance. Turmoil. Depressing. Besides that its just not good. Storyline is not good. I just cannot stress enough how bad this show is. It doesnt hold your attention in the beginning but you want to give it a chance because of the title so you keep watching. And it gets from bad to worse. Who writes this crap??Was this review helpful to you?
Feels way too overhyped
Can't believe so many people like this show. The story is all over the place. If it wasn't for episode 6 & 7, the show would be rated so much lower for me. They could have easily cut out half of the garbage in the first 3 episodes, and just kept episode 6 & 7 and we wouldn't be missing anytjing. Why do the silly flashbacks only to show us the same scenes again as if it's supposed to give us some kind of different perspective? There's so much more I want to say about it. If it wasn't for episode 6, I would have dropped it and not even finish the show.

Not Compelling In The Least
I genuinely dont understand why this drama is so hyped. It was hard just trying to make it to episode 3. There is no soul to this story. Here are my main gripes so far:-The characters are uninteresting or downright unlikeable. Our male lead feels like a half naked marbel statue. He's all beauty and little character. Meanwhile, the female lead is just not an attractive character. Sure, she's beautiful, but that's it. Overall she is a pretty self-absorbed character with arrogant confidence. I could understand a little if her arc is supposed to humble her and make her become more sincere as a character. But you can have complex and selfish characters that are still compelling, interesting and enjoyable from the start regardless. She just vexed me greatly.
-The main leads don't have chemistry. all their interactions feel a lot like models posing at each other, or a fencing duel. They're dancing around each other flaunting their competant, shiny swords and poking each other. It's like they're verbally mogging. Their dynamic just feels unnatural and forced. Even their laughs dont sound genuine, the both have that stupid-rich laugh that makes me want to smack em. And don't get me started on the countless, rather distracting slow motion scenes to emphasize their beauty. It was overdone and made the characters feel more like products. Additionally, I just think the scenes they are given together have so far been inadequate for building their relationship. The kiss scene in the third episode felt premature and unrewarding.
-Building off the last point, the politics overtake the show a bit and honestly, I ended up skipping a lot of in episode 3 because it just didnt grab me and I just wanted to know if the main leads were going to be interesting enough to compensate.
-It's supposed to be a comedy but I did not laugh once in any the episodes I watched, and I'm fairly easy to please humor-wise! I saw the attempts at comedy, but it just didn't land. Possibly because the characters weren't likable enough to be that charming or witty.
-I have a headache now

Don't dare to watch this boring drama
I'm so disappointed. There was no story at all. How the heck did 4 people fall in love with the FL? That was crazy, and I didn't like the fact that the ML had no story of himself. He used to make me feel as if he was a lonely dude, but there was no story of such a thing.I can't believe there were people praising this boring drama. Don't waste your time!

Strong female lead and mature male lead
It's been a while since I've enjoyed watching a Cdrama. For a change, there's none of the overused Cinderella trope. Female is rich and clever at the same time. She's honest with her feelings, but knows her worth- does not wait for any man. This actress is the perfect choice for the role- youthful look, but headstrong persona. This is my first time watching Ren MIn and would now check out her other shows.I am also enjoying ML's acting. It's the first time I've seen him play a role with a wider range of emotions. Appreciate his mature acting and subtle, but on point facial expressions. For some reason, never realy found him goodlooking until now.
Second male lead's character is very much like his role in Perfect match. Nevertheless, he's still as charming. Hopefully, more people will find this show enjoyable so that it'll get the rating /popularity that it deserves.

Fascinating Watch
I never would have thought that watching people do math and other intellectual problems could be so entertaining. I'm a college dropout so seeing how intelligent those students were was truly fascinating. Loved the competition and the teamwork. Huge respect to every single participant, whether they lost or not, every round was well done. Hyunbin though stole my heart with not only his incredible, and I really mean INCREDIBLE brain, but the way he led with empathy, making sure to encourage his team all the time. Was this review helpful to you?

Started pretty good, but ended in a battlefield birth and total script collapse
This drama is the definition of a wasted opportunity. It earns a 3/10 solely because the first few episodes started off so strong. The initial chemistry between the leads was genuinely engaging and the setup promised a high-stakes, fast-paced political and medical thriller. Sadly, that momentum is completely destroyed as the show falls into the worst, most generic writing traps imaginable. The pacing is abysmal. With only 22 episodes of 30 minutes each, the writers somehow managed to stall the main plot for three-quarters of the runtime. The villains are handed absurd amount of plot armor, operating with absolute luxury and impunity while the heroes suffer endless, agonizing setbacks without a single clean victory. The narrative cross into gratuitous misery, like revealing a character was tortured for eight straight years just to force stakes it never earned.
By the final stretch, all narrative logic and character consistency are completely thrown out the window. Major, foundational plot twists are treated with zero weight, such as the female lead discovering her own uncle massacred her bloodline, only to say a few hurried words and casually let him walk away. The political tension is faked in the final episodes by slaughtering random, completely un-introduced court officials just for cheap shock value.
The finale is an absolute fever dream of rushed, nonsensical soap opera tropes. You are forced to witness a consort throwing unearned attitude at the Emperor while her own father launches a bloody coup, culminating in her giving birth in the literal mud of an active battlefield. The plot completely surrenders to lazy writing by turning the Emperor instantly insane and having the male lead hack everyone else to death just to clear the board in the last ten minutes.
It is just barely watchable if you run it at double speed to get it over with, but it is ultimately a monumental failure of storytelling that completely insults the audience's intelligence. Save your time and skip this trainwreck.

"I can't see with my eyes but I can see with my heart"
Eye for an Eye was a short, low budget revenge film that punched and kicked above its weight. Another variation on a gifted blind swordsman (Zatoichi!), this wuxia version held its own even if it didn’t break new ground, just bones for the most part.Blind swordsman Cheng Xia Zi is a successful “ghost killer” during the troubled days of the Tang Dynasty. He captures criminals with bounties on their heads, preferring to not pass lethal judgment on them. That changes when a friendly wine maker preparing for her wedding offers him a drink if he comes to the nuptials. Not long after, villains crash the party leaving family members dead and Ni Yan in disarray. Cheng had no desire to get involved but when the local magistrate betrays Ni Yan, he steps in and into a far deadlier and more complicated mess than he had expected.
Clocking in around 70 minutes, there wasn’t much room for character development. The women were particularly underdeveloped and mainly used as hostages or targets, often making stupid decisions. Cheng’s defining characteristic was his unwavering confidence in his ability to take on thirty-armed men. Initially he was happy to rely on his simple bone-crunching abilities that left fighters somewhat disabled. When the bad guys stepped over the line, the demon in Cheng awoke unleashing a powerhouse unafraid of facing down an army. Xie Miao did an excellent job of selling the action. The fights were exciting, increasingly merciless, and well-choreographed. If you don’t care for wire work or one man against many, this film won’t be for you. It for certain stretched the limits of believability, but going into a film about a blind swordsman is probably the first clue that reality is going to be on vacation.
Eye for an Eye had its narrative problems yet managed to still be entertaining largely due to swift moves that actually connected and incapacitated the enemy. As previously mentioned, once the demon was released, opponents stopped hobbling off. The snowy finale was reminiscent of an old children’s joke, “What’s black and white and red all over*” with a decidedly different punchline. Worth an hour of your time if you enjoy martial arts films and keep your expectations low.

Trigger warnings: Sexual assault that was more graphic than what usually occurs in Chinese films, but no nudity. There was a fair bit of slicing and dicing and decapitations. No graphically spewing blood.
*Answer to the joke---A newspaper (red/read). Only “old” people will know what those are, ask your mom or grandmother. lol

Human Emotions
I watched the drama Our Beautiful Summer and it showed that suicide is not really due to having less people around you who love you. There may be many people who love you, but loneliness isn't a lack of people; it is something only an individual would understand and it is very personal. The character who died had a lovely family and brothers who loved her, but they weren't able to express it; despite that, she was smiling and fighting at the same time, and her struggles were not noticed not because they didn't care, but because they are humans too and human emotions are complex. She knew her family loved her, yet she wasn't able to think about those who loved her; she never blamed them and even in her letter told her mother not to blame herself, showing how one actually goes through these uncontrollable emotions. Similarly, the girl who became a friend-sister to the triplets had a mother who loved her but wasn't there when needed, and she was saved by one of the brothers. Their realization made them regretful and they all responded differently to the accident even though all were feeling guilty; it is only when someone is gone that we start to connect the dots which otherwise would have remained invisible. What actually helps a depressed person is an unexpected thing that makes you feel life is at least worth living; the triplets became the reason for the girl’s change and, while they weren't trying to replace their sister, saving her helped them heal because they were finally able to protect someone. Was this review helpful to you?
One thing is certain: these are the worst kisses in BL history!
I’m genuinely trying to give this drama a chance because I enjoy Chinese BLs. Unfortunately, this one has been very difficult to get through. The story itself is fairly decent, but the editing and directing are among the worst I’ve ever seen. The actors are interesting and have potential, but they are being terribly mismanaged. Such a shame.
I’ll try to continue a little longer, but I’m already almost halfway through the drama, and everything so far feels like complete chaos. The editing is awful, and it’s such a waste of good actors.

So Funny!
I haven’t been this hooked on a drama in a while. this drama is sooo funny and the music choices are top tier. If you’ve seen the latest episode you know what I’m talking about 😂The chemistry with the leads seems so natural and the plot is pretty good for how funny the show is. I’m excited to see what the next few episodes will be like.
I appreciate that the show is subtly showing healthy ways to deal with difficult topics. It’s not toxic positivity but real life routines catered to someone.

High Teir Gay Romance and bittersweet slice of life
I was right! What an amazing and beautiful gay romance.I was hooked from the beginning to the end. The acting, cinematography, and writing were superb and heartfelt.
Overall it was a bittersweet experience about love, loss, life’s struggles, sacrifices, and the bonds we form.
People who just skipped through for kissing or NC scenes are missing out on one of if not the best, BL/gay stories I have seen in a long while. One of the few where I was enraptured by the storytelling and didn’t find myself 2x or skipping through any scenes even ones that were focused on the secondary characters.
It definitely fits in the vein of other amazing stories like Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo or Blonde and Blue Eyes. If anyone doubts the romance they are missing the whole thing and clearly didn’t watch it through nor paid attention to the last episode which clearly lays it out. Or are they being disingenuous and obtuse about depictions of romance since there’s no “fan service” or dated stereotypical cliches?
Also, as a follower of Christ, I absolutely loved the characterization of Johan’s faith, the symbolism of God’s hand at work in their lives, and the foreshadowing of the main lead’s future together. From the sculptor who mentions liberation from the sins/struggles of life, the bathing scene, the cryptic elder’s words to Ryu, how by chance Ryu met Johan, and by “fate” becoming the perfect person to care for and love Johan… refreshing especially in this genre.
Oh and the closing lines was a perfect capstone for this beautiful journey.
