Oggettivamente ho scelto di vedere questa serie mentre ero impegnata a vederne altre 800 perché avevo bisogno di qualcosa che mi riportasse in riga e ho pensato: cosa c'è di meglio di una serie con uno dei miei attore e attrice coreani preferiti e con un tema motlo particolare per rimettermi in riga? E infatti sono rimasta molto sorpresa da questa storia. E dal fatto che pone davanti alla protagonista davanti ad un importante problema: anche quando si cerca di fare del bene, forse addirittura il meglio possibile, comunque si rischia di fare peggio.La storia si basa su un intrigo politico cheparte da un mondo dove esiste carne sintetizzata in laboratorio. E questi porta alla sua creatrice come alla donne "più avara del mondo", come questo essere che l'unica cosa che vuole sono i soldi E nulla, da questa premessa parte un intrigo politico che porta a chiederci (o almeno a me lo ha portato) ogni tanto fare la cosa giusta, è effettivamente la cosa giusta? QUesto è un po' il problema della nostra protagonista, fare la cosa giusta non vuole dire che il mondo ti veda come qualcuno che sta facendo la cosa corretta.
Questo aggiunto alla chimica pazzesca fra i protagonisti mi ha portato ad amare questa serie (anche perché è stata girata in almeno un luogo che è lo stesso di Big Mouth). Anche se, ed è la ragione per cui non ho dato dieci, le serie di D+ hanno sempre un finale aperto. E per quanto mi piacciano i finali aperti, anche se io amo alla follia i finali tristi, mi piacerebbe anche che questi finali aperti fossero almeno dei precursori di una seconda stagione. Easy Binge & Surprisingly Good — Don’t Compare It to The Blood of Youth ?
This is an easy binge-watch—I really enjoyed it.If you’re planning to watch this, treat it as a stand-alone. It’s honestly not fair to compare a short drama like this to The Blood of Youth when there are only so many episodes to tell the story.
For a short series, I think they wrapped it up pretty well. If you’re worried it’ll just feel like another The Blood of Youth, don’t be. The first few episodes might seem similar, but it quickly finds its own rhythm, and I actually liked how it developed from there.
I especially preferred Li Hanyi’s romance in this version—it felt more satisfying to me.
The cast was great too. I really liked this version of Qian Luo, and the sisterhood here was such a nice touch. Also- the Lei Wu Jie here is sooo cute!!! ( so is Xiao She)
Overall, a solid and enjoyable short drama 👍

Love FirstKhao but this serie was so boring
I lowkey had to force myself to finish it because it was so boring. nothing really exciting happened and u could easily guess what was gonna happen. the nc scenes were basically there just to keep the people who watch for that watching. imo it wouldve been better without those because the entire series has innocent and sweet vibes.Was this review helpful to you?

Things I liked1 The premise was interesting and I'm open to things like that so I wanted to watch and be surprised in a good way.
Things I hated
1 The panel. They were all blithering idiots that had never constructive to say and if you ask me they all played a role and I find this despicable.
2 The so called shamans and tarot readers and the whole bunch of Pythias. Not even one passed the sniff test. I'm someone who is interested in all these things and read gazillions of things about how it works and I can say without any doubt that not only this was scripted but it was badly scripted. The tests were ridiculous and an insult to my intelligence. If they really wanted to test them there were better ways and in France they did that in a much more objective and scientific way. This series was a bunch of nonsense and I'm vexed right now to having waste my time watching people try to fool us. Although I don't blame them, they wanted exposition and they had it. When I think that here are people who were fooled and praise their performances I'm livid. This is the reason the world is in such pitiful state. That conmen and women make us believe in whatever they sell. Shame on everyone involved in this scam.

disappointing second half
this show was an interesting watch, but would i watch it again? no, because it is just too long.learning about the history was interesting since i had never heard of the military academy before this. but plot wise, some side characters really did not need so much development and screen time when their presence contributed almost nothing to the main storyline. they simply were not interesting enough to justify so many scenes.
damn this show… i feel so conflicted. some parts of the plot made me go “wtf” because it felt like conflict was created for no real reason, and again, certain side characters were given way too much focus. they were likeable at first, but the more screen time they got, the more tiring they became.
i genuinely do not understand how shen jun shan’s character changed so drastically in the second half. he started off as smart, capable, and someone who trusted xie xiang from the very beginning. during the bomb scene, he believed in her judgment even when the male lead doubted her. he was always there when she needed help.
then suddenly, he goes completely out of character and loses all sense of judgment. he starts questioning xie xiang’s theory and even stands by the villain’s side. like seriously, where did the logical, capable, and trustworthy second male lead from the first 20 episodes go? it honestly felt like the scriptwriters forced this change just to create conflict and push the female and male lead together. did they forget how they wrote his character in the first half? it was very disappointing and completely unnecessary.
considering what the second male lead became in the later half, i honestly think the female lead should not have ended up with either of them. the male lead was basically a bully, and the second male lead felt like a completely different person by the end.
acting wise, it was pretty good. the actors handled their characters well. even though i did not like the male lead’s hair and character in this show, kudos to him for his acting. same for the female lead, her character was charming, and it was interesting seeing bai lu in this hairstyle. but please… that wig should be removed and thrown far, far away because what was that?

Some Stories Remain With You Forever!!
My favorite show ended, and I’m crying bitter tears of sorrow!!This show was like a miracle, something that I didn’t know I needed to cheer myself up. It has been a long time since I have watched a slow paced romance that doesn’t play out deliberately. It is intricately written, woven with simplicity and riveting. The storyline reflects four love stories, interwoven with meaningful experiences. Song Ha Ran’s quiet romance with Sunwoo Chan remains at the centerfold. It is full of vulnerabilities, painful yet hopeful. Kim Na Na’s love story with Park Man Jae is a memorable ride through olden times. Song Ha Yeong’s love story with Yeon Tae Seok might seem ridden with obstacles, but all is well when it ends well. Song Ha Dam & Cha Yu Gyeom grow mature & overcome their difficulties through sheer hard work. Each story had a diffident past they had to overcome but a future they envisioned together.

underwhelming watch
watching this in 2026 makes me think xiao nai is a red flag. no proper confession, no proper proposal, and the female lead even interns at his company for zero pay.in their 2+ years of dating, he has not met her parents at all. is it really that hard to find time to visit them? the first time her parents see him, it is already to discuss marriage. yes, marriage is ultimately a decision between the couple, but it is also the union of two families. everything feels rushed and the timeline makes no sense.
seriously, could they not have met earlier and gotten to know him better? this is a lifetime commitment. he could have at least taken some time to prepare for marriage after meeting her parents instead of jumping straight into it.
this is not romantic, it is not thoughtful at all. he never asked for her thoughts about marriage and just casually brought it up during a broadcasted interview before even asking her directly. she has no way to back out because now the whole nation knows? was her opinion and permission not necessary?
he also never asked for her thoughts on having children and just happily decides they should get married early so she can have two sons. she literally just graduated from university, why is there such a rush to push her into all of this?
another ick i have about this drama is the casual misogynistic statements and stereotypes. like what others have mentioned, it was unnecessary and made me uncomfortable. i understand this show was from 10 years ago so i am trying to close one eye.
the side characters were also unlikable. this did not need to be a 30 episode show, it felt unnecessarily draggy. if they had stuck closer to the novel, it would have been much better paced. instead, they added a lot of unnecessary plotlines for side characters that were not interesting. i have zero interest in seeing all the extra er xi, cao guang, meng yi ran scenes.
in terms of casting, it was not what i expected either. one of the only things i remember from the book was the female lead being described as having a very sexy, curvy figure and a more striking, mature beauty. but in this show, none of those descriptions really matched, so it felt awkward watching her roommates constantly hype up her looks at the start.
chemistry wise, it felt a bit off. yes, they have visuals, but their interactions came across as awkward. like what others have mentioned, you do not really get a sense of their personalities because there is barely any character development. all you really know is that they are good looking and smart.
many of the other reviewers mentioned solid points, that i fully agree with. I haven’t written a review in 5 years, but I have so much to say about this show, putting it in the comment section isn’t sufficient …

Better than the Bali version
Things I loved1 The premise. This was the first season of Love Catcher I saw and I think it's an interesting concept, much better than all the others I've seen around. The money love choice is interesting.
2 The panel. I think it's good. Not as good as the funnier and more relatable of Single's Inferno, but still very good.
Things I liked
1 I liked the cast, much more than the one of Bali. I haven't seen seasons 1 and 2 so I can only compare these two. I found the casting od Seoul much more interesting and attractive.
2 The ending. It was surprising and unexpected and although not the best, it was still interesting enough to make it better than Bali.
Things I disliked
1 The elimination of the first two players. They were the most interesting for me and that's one of the reasons I only give it a 6.5. It would be an 8 and even higher if the elimination wasn't part of the show.
2 The fact that too many women were money catchers. It defeats the purpose of the show, so although interesting I have to put it on the dislike list as well since it ruined the concept in a way.

Too dark, too convoluted, a crazy soap opera without rhyme or reason
Things I liked1 I thought the acting was quite good. Maybe not every scene was great, not every actor/actress was perfect but they were all decent.
Things I disliked
1 The two older sisters. They weren't appealing characters I could stand behind. Their actions were stupid sometimes and their love for their sister wasn't enough to make me like them. All sisters were unappealing characters.
Things I hated
1 The little sister. What a stupid stupid character without any redeeming qualities. Her behavior was inexcusable and no I didn't like how things ended.
2 The villain and all the villains actually. How they never were punished really and how serious things were left unattended.
3 The script. Ridiculous is the best way I can describe it. The writer(s) thought they were too smart to have to make things make sense. Guess what? It resulted in a mess of a series I'd never recommend to anyone. Next time take the time to develop the characters and write a plot that doesn't resemble to a child's fantasies without rhyme or reason.

She is not carried by beauty or privilege; she survives through intelligence, loyalty, strategy, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. Alongside her closest companion—two orphaned girls fighting for dignity and stability—their evolution from poverty to power forms the emotional core of the show.
Breakthrough Performance of the Female Lead
The female lead is the undeniable gem of this series. Her performance is a breakthrough—powerful, expressive, and deeply affecting. Having seen the male lead’s earlier works, I can see clear growth; however, some of his acting patterns from previous roles remain noticeable. His character—a formidable god of war and marquis who does not bend even to the emperor’s decree, yet later adapts to rural life—is still lacking and requires both authority and emotional nuance.
While he delivers strong moments, the portrayal occasionally lacks the consistency expected of a high-ranking military figure. The commanding presence and gravitas typical of such a role sometimes feel muted. His most convincing emotional performance appears in the scene where the female lead is injured during the ambush by business rivals. In that moment, the shift from controlled strength to raw fear and anguish is impactful and demonstrates what he is capable of.
When compared to his similar role in Story of Running Palace, certain scenes feel familiar rather than fully transformed. Though his performance remains solid and generally effective, it does not reach the breakthrough level achieved by the female lead.
Cinematography, Setting, and Musical Score
Filming in an actual rural village gives the series a level of authenticity that enhances the story’s tone. The setting, though modest and remote, is captured beautifully. The cinematography strikes a balance between realism and aesthetic appeal.

It is no surprise that friends who initially dismissed the idea of watching a Chinese drama were drawn in after hearing about this series—and are now slowly exploring more titles.

Inspiring even thought it was all a dream
Xia Xiao Lan went through so much. Felt it for her. Even though she was having a hard time in the present life, especially with work, you can see that she was lonely. When she transmigrated into the 80s, I am glad she remembered the future and with how Xia Xiao Lan was living in that time, she was determined to be strong and wanted to make her life as well as her family better. I always like a strong FL and she was determined to change and build that era. Despite what happened in her real era, she was determined, even though it was a dream to do all the things she wanted to do and make a name for herself.I dont even want to talk about her father's side of the family - a bunch of greedy parasites. even at the end, her dad couldnt stand them anymore but I am also glad that he didnt disturb their lives they has built out of the village.
I think Xia Xiao Lan and Xia Xiao Lan had great chemistry and oh how they can communicate with each other. LOVED THAT!.
They both wanted a different career and they supported each other.
Fast forward to the ending....I feel bad to complain but I didnt like it that much 😩
If Xia Xiao Lan didnt have the same dream as Xia Xiao Lan, I noticed that she could have been the guy she was with during her university days.....
But the interaction looked weird to me like he if he was really the guy she stopped seeing, why didnt she try to find him on the internet? (since she remembered him from the dream and assuming they look alike) and he was all smiles when he spoke to her and not a surprised/hurt look because of what happened during the university days. Just my opinion 😩 the ending wasnt it for me.

Great suspense drama with a side order of love
This story is set in the slums of Thailand and features Jack, a poor taekwondo student who through a brief association with Joke, a middle class kid whose only skills are lying, pretending and stealing goes from poor and honest to poor, desperate and enslaved.5 years later they reunite after Joke is released from prison following the situation that led to Jack’s downfall and at the same time we meet others stuck in their own versions of hell and watch as they all grow from individuals trying to survive to a team determined to right the wrongs of the miserable lives they been given. Through it all and somewhere down the line relationships are formed and Jack and Joker fall in love.
The standout performance for me was Tangkwa Chananticha Chaipa who plays Toi Ting a young street smart kid who wants more out of life than the shitty hand she’s been dealt. Her believable character was fearless, brave and sassy wrapped up in a cute little bundle.
Yin and War as Jack and Joker were brilliant and it’s easy to see why Jack just let Joker win him over again and again as chemistry aside deep down he knew there had to be a really compelling reason for his sporadic return to crime and the sad puppy dog eye look Joke gave when caught hooked Jack in every time (it would make me forgive him every time too tbh).
There was very little opportunity for NC’s or PDA’s in this drama and to be honest I think it would have detracted from the story. In fact there only one intimate scene but it was enough to see how their slow burn romance spilled into every part of their relationship and it had me reaching for a metaphorical fan as it was so sizzling hot.
The other characters were well acted, their plot lines adding depth and breadth to this story by injecting love, laughter, a bond forged by desperation and the need to trust that together they could beat the system.
The contrast between the haves and have nots was poignantly obvious as evidenced in so many ways: from grotty buildings with peeling paint and doors that don’t close properly to sumptuous mansions with glittering fountains and marble staircases; poorly dressed, malnourished individuals with knife and fork haircuts compared with exaggeratedly overstuffed individuals with dubious taste in horribly expensive clothing; the raw honesty of frantic people trying to survive as opposed to bored mega rich to whom the lives and belongings of the less fortunate are just a game.
As an aside , the music used a lot at the beginning of their relationship, when Jack and Joker’s hearts skip a beat, is called Windfall by Megan Wofford (thank you Shazam!) and it’s also used in Cutie Pie on Lian and Kuea’s wedding night.
You should also watch the special one-off episode. It will break your heart but alludes to another series or just another one off. Here’s hoping…

Great potential for PoohPavel to showcase their talents
I loved this. I think shows with longer timeframes should follow what Goddess Bless You From Death does, which is to pace evenly per episode but also drop important plot points for the next episode to follow. My only complaint is how tiring it is to hear Pooh say 'P’Singha!' for so long. It’s so whiny.What I loved about the show is that calling it a romance series doesn't do it justice. Sure, it has romance in it, but the overall whodunit crimes and police drama outshine the romance, making it feel satisfying when it all leads up to the finale.
Overall, this is a huge milestone for the pair PoohPavel, and I hope they get more opportunities to do more series like this because they both shined perfectly in it.

It started well, it ended in the worst way possible
Things I loved1 The panel. My favorite is the one of Single's inferno hands down, but this one isn't bad either. Many thought they were biased but this is their role in my opinion. To have thoughts and share them. With some we agree with others disagree, but hey are funny and their observations were acute.
2 I love the concept. It's interesting and certainly better than the Single's inferno one or all the other dating shows. That said it could use some improvements.
Things I disliked
1 Some participants who were determined to never budge from their first crushes like it would be a crime. It made me dislike them since I thought they were idiots, I'm looking at you Yongho. Totally idiotic crush.
2 The Soo Ro couple. I never warmed to it and it was obvious the woman was a money catcher. I dislike couples with that much age difference and this one reminded me why. Because the older person always looks like they have the upper hand and aren't really as in love as the other person. So this also was a negative to me.
Things I hated
1 Su Ji. She must be one of the most idiotic characters in a dating show. She made assumptions and was mean to Yongho and unfair without any reason. An utter idiot. I also found her ugly, so I never got how would anyone fall for her and so hard on top of that.
2 Yu Jeong. No excuses for her behavior. If she wanted to change fine, but she shouldn't give false hope to Tae Hyeok. She was mean while she could have chosen another person. Well, I never warmed at her either so I'm not surprised by her behavior. All in all, I preferred the previous season in Seoul and this one was a disaster for me. Bali didn't do anything for me.

Title should have been ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER
I have never been so misled by clips like I was for this one. I was looking for a romance. I have enjoyed both lead actors in other things, and I couldn't pass up Xu Kai in something contemporary. But the clips that I watched were the total of their interaction throughout the entire drama! I did enjoy watching the ML go from cold and ruthless, to someone who actually cares about others and basically inherits a family. I could never actually tell when the FL started to like him, but they were cute together. However, all of their scenes would have taken up two episodes (and I'm being generous. The romance tag should be removed or moved to the end of the list and changed to "slight romance".The focus of this drama (80-90%) was about the FL's mother. She was a toxic, loud, disrespectful, overbearing, money-grabbing, immature, domineering mother. I know that respect for parents in Asian cultures is important, but there is a certain point in time when a husband needs to step in to try to curtail the behavior, or the child will deliver an ultimatum. I was determined to finish this drama, hoping for redemption, but it was too little, too late.
Spoiler examples:
1- the mother worked with the FL's ex-boyfriend's sister and organized a huge engagement party. Huge affair, balloons, flowers, ballroom, friends and family. The FL was sent on some fake premise, and when she opened the ballroom door, she saw all this. The couple had already broken up (of which the mother was well aware), but the mother was trying to force her hand.
2- the mother takes her obnoxious relatives to the high-end hotel that the FL is the new general manager and asks the staff for the best rooms and the best treatment, and discounts. The daughter arranges all of that and says that she'll pay for it out of her own money.
3- the daughter SPECIFICALLY told the mother not to come to her workplace. The mother shows up with lunch while the FL is holding a staff meeting, trying to cement her job as boss. The mother interrupts the whole thing and tells the daughter to send everyone to lunch because she (the FL) needs to eat.
4- they are staying in a home that turns out to be the ML's inheritance. He brings his stuff to move in and she refuses to leave. Husband and FL both try to convince her, with the FL saying she'll buy them an apartment, and still she refuses. ML says that the house is big enough for all of them, but she won't give up the master bedroom, the other rooms are for when her kids come home, so he ends up sleeping in the attic.
5- ML pays for both FL's parents to get a complete health screening. There is something abnormal in her tests and they want to do more testing. Instead, she roams around pouting and being all dramatic, then packs a suitcase and leaves home without telling anyone where she went. The whole family is out searching frantically for her (because, of course, she has turned her phone off), only to find her in the town they lived in years ago that she always complained about. The whole family shows up and she refuses to leave. Days of begging and pleading go by, and she finally agrees to the testing, to which she finds out everything is fine.
I have never hated a character or the way it was written more than this. Unless you are a glutton for punishment, I'd suggest you run away from this drama.
