Title: Chan Yao (2025) is a very good romance miniseries with Qiao Jiale (as Fu Han Sheng) and Wu Jialu( as Jian Qing) in the leading couple’s role. The cast did well bringing their characters to work but the leading couple was exceptional,. The drama is as heartbreaking sometimes as it is heartwarming for most of its duration. Both male and female lead had such a great chemistry, whether they were having a heart to heart talk, tantalizingly teasing each other or being intimate, it all felt real and endearing.
In the meantime, this drama can be found in YouTube under the caption: “New Drama 《Entwined Love》Jian Qing is saved by Fu Hansheng, love blossoms” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvb6ZcoruaE)

As for me, the drama is quite interesting and the main theme of it is relationships. I liked the idea of the variety show which was the main highlight and, in my opinion, made the drama more interesting to watch. Ofc there are some troublemakers in the drama and I’m always amazed at how much hatred a person can have for another person who doesn't even know that someone hates them. Both jealousy girls were sooo annoying. We all could understand witch reasons lead Jia Xu to all the mess that she’d done. But the girl from work team literally was jealous for no reason.
Although the relationship between XingRuo and Xingyan was a clear case of a seesaw, it is evident that they have come to understand each other. Their love can blossom even brighter.
The married couple was also on a seesaw of their relationship. They didn't hear each other, but they realized the problem in time and tried to understand themselves and their partner.
In general, the drama is about relationship problems.
I really liked the chemistry between Ruo Han and Yun Rui, and they seemed like a true couple in love!
There were some boring moments, but they can always be skipped. The concept of the variety show is a big plus for this drama, as is the chemistry between the characters. I believe that this drama deserves your attention.

A Good Watch When Your List Is Empty

So I might come off a little awkward here—this is my first review and I’m still new at this, so please bear with me.

---

1. OST / Music

From my perspective, the music throughout the show was somewhat repetitive and predictable, but still very soothing, light, and pleasant. Even when the tunes repeated, they somehow felt fresh and helped push the emotions the show wanted to convey. Because of that, the music worked well in its own way.

---

2. Acting / Cast

I’ve watched a few hundred Asian dramas, and while this cast isn’t among the absolute best, it’s definitely not bad either. The casting felt appropriate—nothing seemed out of place. There were moments where emotions could have been portrayed better, and some scenes didn’t feel fully sincere, as if the mood was almost right but slightly off. Still, the flow usually recovered quickly.

---

3. Rewatch Value

Before talking about the story, I wanted to mention rewatch value. In my opinion, it’s almost zero unless there’s a very specific reason. The story feels unique in small ways but overall quite generic, so I personally wouldn’t rewatch it.

---

4. Story

The story is similar to several youth dramas I’ve seen before.

First Half:
The buildup to the main couple was very solid—around a 9/10 for me. The emotions of fear, despair, and restraint were clear, especially in the scenes with Lin Yu Jing’s mother. As viewers, we could really feel that tension. Sometimes it felt like Lin Yu Jing should rebel more, and a few reactions didn’t seem fully justified.

Lin Yu Jing’s mom was portrayed strongly as an authoritative figure with her own strict methods. By the end, her character development was visible and satisfying, but it didn’t feel very smooth—it seemed too sudden, like “Was it really that easy to change?” The story could have handled this transition better.

Shen Juan:
Some of his restraint in the first half felt overly generic and even a bit harsh, which made certain scenes awkward. He did make up for it later, though. The rumor subplot made sense in context, but also felt confusing at times.

Lin Yu Jing:
She was honestly the best acted character. She showed a wide range of emotions. I do have a few minor complaints, but they’re small enough to ignore.

---

Friend Groups

(Wang Yi Yang, He Song Nan, Xu Ru Yi, Gu Xia) and brother Fu Ming Xiu.

We could see character development in most of them—they grew into better versions of themselves.

Fu Ming Xiu:
His initial hostility felt unnecessary, but it did show emotion. His character development was quick but very satisfying. I wish he and his girlfriend had more screen time—we only really saw the start of their relationship, nothing more.

Song Nan & Ru Yi:
Their storyline felt strange and somewhat unnecessary to the plot. It needed stronger performances and small story tweaks for more depth.

Wang Yi Yang:
He had the weakest self-restraint and acted more impulsively than thoughtfully. Every friend group has someone like this, but here it felt exaggerated.

---

Overall, the drama had solid emotional moments and decent performances, even if parts of the story were generic or uneven.

Really fun rom-com drama! Rushed ending.

Allow me to say what I've been wanting to tell everyone first. Because this was such a good drama and I really liked the osts, I decided one day to watch the ending credit scene ( you know the one that plays after every episode ). I don't usually watch the opening and ending credit scenes but since I really liked this and wanted more, I started to watch it and OMG ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME. THERE ARE SPOILERS AT THE ENDING CREDIT SCENES OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SCENES OF THIS DRAMA, LIKE IM TALKING ABOUT WHO WILL DIE IN THE FUTURE. I don't know why they did it this way but it was really maddening that I just got spoiled like that.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed this one, just from the trailer alone I already knew it was gonna be a banger. When I started the drama I got even more hooked and really liked the plot and the rom com aspect of it. Honestly this was such a fun watch that I can recommend it to mostly everyone. The Osts, the script, the characters, a lot of it are really good. Although I would say the Young King and Crown prince really threw me off coz I don't know if its a back story or simply just happening now. It took me a while to get the hang of it.

The only other problem I had with this drama is that after the mausoleum arc, it kinda started to go down. I think it was a little rush near the end and the drama could have done better had it gotten more episodes to it to expand more on the story. But overall a really good and fun cdrama to watch. But the spoiler containing ending credit scenes and the rushed ending and badly executed ending really threw me off this. Overall 9.0. I would've given this a 10 as well only if not for the things i mentioned.

Don't be too obsessed

The story is about a kingdom where the prince actually has a twin, but they didn't know it until one of them died. It's become much more complicated since one of them doesn't know anything about manners in the castle and how the system works. That's where everything becomes interesting to see the growth of the survivor to avenge her twin.

KILL FIGHT REVENGE and REPEAT

Mercy for None feels like a Korean version of John Wick — stylish, violent, and focused on one unstoppable man. From the very first episode to the last, it’s almost nonstop fighting.
The biggest strength of the drama is its action. The fight scenes are raw and intense. There is zero romance, which is a big plus for viewers who prefer pure crime and revenge stories.
However, the drama lacks emotional depth and proper storyline development. The main character is powerful and feared, but his personality doesn’t feel fully developed. He is more of a symbol — a “devil” figure — than a layered human being. There isn’t much character growth, and there’s no strong bromance or meaningful relationships that build tension.
The story mostly moves forward through violence rather than suspense or psychological thrill. It feels more like a long action sequence than a well-structured thriller.
Overall, it’s not bad — it’s entertaining if you want pure action — but it lacks the emotional and narrative depth that makes a drama unforgettable.

A Love That Continues to Beat Beyond Death

If you ever plan to make a list of the best of the best and must-watch Japanese dramas; *Beyond Goodbye* should absolutely be on it. This is not just a love story. It’s a story about connection, grief, fate, and the kind of love so strong that lingers even after death.

*Plot
The story follows Saeko and Yusuke, a couple who have been together for a long time. Yusuke finally decides to propose and takes Saeko to the mountains for the big moment. But on the way there, their bus gets into a terrible accident and Yusuke dies.
Because Yusuke had signed up as an organ donor, his heart is transplanted into Naruse, a man who has been suffering from severe heart problems and waiting desperately for a transplant. Months later, Saeko and Naruse meet by chance, and that’s when something unexplainable begins. Naruse starts feeling a strong pull toward Saeko, a deep sense of nostalgia and emotion that doesn’t feel like his own.

The Red String of Fate
This drama beautifully embodies the concept of the red string of fate, the idea that two souls destined to be connected will always find their way back to each other. Even in death, Yusuke’s connection to Saeko does not disappear. Instead, it lives on through Naruse, and just like the red string of fate pull Naruse towards Saeko. It's like Yuske's heart is refusing to let go of his feeling for Saeko and refusing to become now Naruse's heart, a heart that never knew Saeko. So Yusuke's heart take control over Naruse pushing him to seek Saeko like a thirsty mouth seeking water on a summer day.

On one side, we have Saeko. She loses the love of her life once in the accident. And then, in a way, she has to lose him again when she has to accepts that his heart now beats inside someone else. Her everyday life becomes a quiet torture. Every place, every memory, every landscape reminds her of Yusuke. She is forced to continue living while carrying unbearable longing.

On the other side, we have Naruse. Before the transplant, he had already given up on life. He lived constantly aware that death was near. He never truly allowed himself to dream or feel fully alive. But after receiving Yusuke’s heart, something shifts.
He begins developing habits that were never his. A man who never liked coffee suddenly finds himself drawn to it so much that even start opening a coffee shop. He begins playing the piano something Yusuke loved. He feels emotions, memories and nostalgia he cannot explain.
It’s as if Yusuke’s heart refuses to let go of the love it once held. It’s not presented in a dramatic, supernatural way but in a subtle, emotional way that makes you question how much of the heart carries memory.

This drama is deeply sad but it’s not empty sadness. It’s meaningful. Throughout the series, you see just how deeply Yusuke loved Saeko. Even though he is gone, his presence is felt in every scene. His presence is so strong that even without being in the frame you know the difference between Naruse and Yusuke. Yusuke's love becomes the emotional thread tying everything together, and its so heartbreaking to see how deep his feelings were and that he is gone and could never come back. It’s the kind of story that makes you sit quietly after an episode ends.

Cinematography & Atmosphere

Visually, this drama is stunning. The story moves between Japan and Hawaii (though Hawaii scenes were filmed in New Zealand), and the cinematography is breathtaking. The beautiful landscapes of Hokkaido and the coastal scenery create a soft, almost dreamlike atmosphere.
Coffee plays a central symbolic role in the story and the repeated visuals of coffee growing, harvesting, toasting, brewing, steam rising, and quiet cafés add warmth and share an interesting teaching about coffee world, something a coffee lover would enjoy.

I have to mention **Kasumi Arimura**, who plays Saeko. She continues to choose incredibly meaningful projects, and she delivers one of the most emotionally powerful performances here. Her portrayal of grief feels raw but controlled never exaggerated, always sincere. The more I watch her work, the more I appreciate her choices as an actress. She has been part of some of the most beautiful series in recent years, and this is another strong addition to her filmography.

*Beyond Goodbye* is about love that transcends life. About grief that lingers. About fate that refuses to break.
It’s heartbreaking. It’s poetic. It’s visually stunning and it absolutely deserves a spot on any must-watch Japanese drama list.

Sometimes less is more

Good drama with a simple plot and fast-paced so no dragging misunderstanding. It was a cute silly rom-com with some cringey moments : definitely not the best but for what it worth it was cool.

Some scenes were boring but not to the point of dropping the drama. I liked the relationship between the main lead because it was everything the past rom-coms I've watched weren't : good communication, no silly misunderstanding, no breakup that made no sense. It was mostly peaceful and not overdone. Even the SML was not that annoying compared to the last dramas I've watched.
The plots around the ML and the FL were in itself simple, everything was wrapped up nicely at the end even if it was fast-paced. I would've loved to see more scene between Han-gyul and Jae-gyu though.

The only issue I can't overlook was the romance between Han-gyul and Se-jin : she was highly insensitive, very stubborn and he was clearly a pushover with her which I didn't like at all. In other dramas these kind of romance are a breath of fresh air but here I was really annoyed to the point i skipped past several of their scenes.

So overall I recommend this drama, that's not the best but it's entertaining enough. We need to see more k-dramas like that, not throwing away different plots without any consistency, wrapping the end nicely, basically going back the basics

Surely Idol — Fame Doesn’t Cancel Humanity

The biggest takeaway from this drama? Celebrities are human too. 💔✨
I really liked how the show highlights something fans often forget — idols also deserve personal space and the freedom to live their own lives. Lately it feels like there’s this growing expectation that idols must behave exactly how fans want, and this drama quietly pushes back against that mindset.
Story-wise, I enjoyed the overall flow. It’s engaging without being overly heavy. Good news: there are no major heartbreak bombs here (okay… except for our poor second lead, of course 😅).
Acting is solid across the board, the music fits nicely, and the emotional beats land well. It’s one of those easy watches that still leaves you thinking a little.
If you end up liking this one, I highly recommend checking out So I Married an Anti-Fan — I’ve personally watched it at least three times, and it gives similar industry vibes. 😉
P.S. – Sometimes the real message isn’t about fame… it’s about letting people breathe. 💫

A Rushed Continuation

The second season of *Falling High School Girl and Irresponsible Teacher* did not disappoint me when it comes to acting. Once again, the performances carried the story.
I genuinely think this series is one of the best manga-to-live-action adaptations I’ve seen. And that’s not something I say lightly.

What impressed me the most is how naturally it translates classic manga elements into live action without feeling awkward
Things that usually look cringey in adaptations; exaggerated reactions, typical manga-style behavior, even characters wearing things like paper bags over their heads (a common quirky trope in manga) — somehow work here. Instead of feeling forced or unnatural, they blend seamlessly into the world of the drama.
Most adaptations struggle with this. When they stay too faithful to the manga’s style, it often feels exaggerated or strange in live action. But this series manages to incorporate those elements so smoothly that I didn’t even question them. It feels intentional and balanced. That alone deserves credit.

That said, I did feel that Season 2 was weaker in certain areas. I haven’t read the manga, so I’m judging purely from a viewer’s perspective. Compared to the first season, this one felt rushed. It wasn’t as deep when it came to exploring trauma and emotional layers which was something Season 1 handled beautifully.

The chemistry between the leads is still there. Their dynamic still works. The romance still feels authentic. But I wish we had gotten more backstory especially about her brother. The show touches on why she is the way she is, but it moves through those explanations too quickly. It almost feels like they rushed to push Season 2 out.

The male lead’s storyline also felt somewhat fragmented. Instead of gradually unfolding, parts of his narrative felt like quick explanations rather than fully developed storytelling.
Another noticeable difference from Season 1 is the smaller cast. The first season had more supporting characters, more faces, more emotional layers around the main story. Season 2 feels more limited in comparison, which makes the world feel smaller.
I just wish they had taken more time more episodes, more depth, more emotional blending to properly finish and expand the story.

"He was just so rude to you!"

The standouts in this show are the
1. The acting - The two main women were incredibly good in their roles in this show. The resilience of their characters is nothing short of admirable, likely even breathtaking

2. The critique of the justice system - I think this got swallowed up in all the noisiness of the 'who dun it' mystery, but the story does show us how the legal system fails its people.
For example:

a. Mo Eun - They saw that she killed and didn't seem remorseful, and quickly wrote her off. Sure, she didn't do anything to disprove their assumptions, but had someone taken a minute to wonder why she did what she did - rather than write her off as a psychopath - likely, none of this would have happened.

b. An Yun Sun - A victim of the 'fundamental attribution error.' Her fault was that she was too smiley and didn't cry. They saw a woman who didn't act the way she was supposed/expected to once her husband died, and they (the people doing the investigation) quickly assumed that she was guilty. And then did everything to prove themselves right

c. Prosecutor Beak - This man pissed me off the entire show. If I were to list his crimes, I'd say he was guilty of having tunnel vision and confirmation bias, largely against Yun Su. He saw her smile, found that sealed orphanage record, and immediately decided she was guilty. He did everything to prove that she was guilty, sending her to spend the rest of her life in prison.

The anger I felt in me when he admitted that he (1.) sent her to prison simply because he believed she was guilty and (2.) when he admitted that he'd had doubts of her guilt in the 1st round but buried them to find anything to prove her guilt... Oh Lord. And in the end, he got to keep his job.

He's so frustrating, but what makes me angrier is that Baek is an unfortunate reality of the people we have in law enforcement IRL. People with biases who will send others to prison just to prove that they are right. Or just so they can win. It's all about ego, not the human behind the accusation.

d. The investigation team - Victims of group thinking and authority bias. When Beak came in to say that Yun Su was for sure guilty, they all went with that line of thinking. Which is crazy because in the 1st episode, they clearly had nothing on her. She was weird, yes, but weird doesn't equal guilty. And throughout the show, none of them had a single disagreeing thought with Beak. What he said went. I still can't believe that they let that old man walk around after he'd assaulted a prison guard and stabbed Mo Eun

e. So Mang - Yet another victim of a flawed justice system. Money greased hands, and her rapsit was not only allowed to go free, but to continue tormenting her and her family, leading to their deaths. And their lives would have just been swept under the rug like yesterday's trash had Mo Eun not come back for revenge. Had the women not worked together, no one would've cared or remembered. That trashy boy and his parents may have actively led to her and her father's deaths, but everyone who turned a blind eye helped quietly nudge her onto that rooftop.

f. The prison system - The amount of bullying that goes on in there is crazy. Idk how, but prisons everywhere need to find ways to keep all that from happening. Or at least minimize it. Idk if increasing guards would help, but the ratio of prisoners to guards is always crazy low IMO

3. I think the women were written rather well in this show. Apart from An Yun Su, who remains good throughout the show, all the other women who had a lot of screentime were nuanced humans.

i. Mo Eun looks like a psychopath at 1st but she isn't.
ii. The main prison guard actively fights against her bias against the criminals in her care. Wanting to see them as and treating them as human, even though she fails at times.
iii. Yun Su's probation officer, like Yun Su, is a little naive and too smiley. But her heart, which matters in this case, was always in the best place. Instead of letting her work with criminals taint her, she tries to help and gives the benefit of the doubt. This specific case needed that

🚨Things I Didn't Like/Thought Could've Been Better🚨
1. The pacing - It's not all bad. Actually, the 1st say 4, maybe 5 episodes are well paced. The last 3 or so episodes also did a great job keeping my heart racing. However, those middle episodes.... I was so frustrated and was super close to dropping the damn show.

2. Decisions made in the middle episodes - Especially by Yun Su. She made very little sense. Somebody explain to me why

a. She kept visiting that house, even taking her kid, without considering that the tracker actually logs her location.
b. When she finds out he died, she goes back to that house and lets herself be seen as if she is not among the most infamous criminals at the time. Her face was everywhere!!!
c. When she becomes a fugitive, she keeps the most obvious feature about her - her hair - open for everyone to see. Logic dictates that when you're on the run, you hide your most obvious features!!! Cover up tattoos, switch up piercings, cut your hair, or tie it up if you cannot cut it. Maybe even dye it. But no. She keeps her super long, beautiful, wavy hair just flapping around in the wind

How no one in the streets ever saw and reported her is beyond me. She didn't need to be an expert in all this. I get that. But in this age of technology, and for someone who said she's watched all episodes of CSI, she was being hella dumb.

3. The ending - Like many reviewers and commentators, I'm torn about the revelation of why Yun Su's husband was killed. It really does seem like such a weak reason. However, if I look at it from another angle, maybe it makes sense. As shown in many dramas, there is a lot of classism in Asia. They pay a lot of attention to one's reputation.
Now, if you consider how the lawyer and his wife saw themselves as better than the artist and his plagiarism statement as tarnishing their reputation, then the anger could make sense. Someone they deemed lesser than threw figurative mud at them, making them lose face among their peers. To them, that was unacceptable.

4. The lack of justice (regarding the villains) - In my perfect world and perfect ending, that lawyer wouldn't have died. He'd have had to go to prison. That reputation he cared so much about would have gone straight to hell after a very public trial.
I hate that the wife seemed like she'd get away with it, or rather, have a lesser charge. After all the women (especially Yun Su) went through, that was annoying to see.

5. The prosecutor kept his job.

Final Thoughts
1. This was an engaging watch, albeit a little frustrating in the middle.
2. There was no standout music in this tbh. Aside from that song that played in the finale, you know the scene showing the scenery in Thailand and the credits on screen? Yeah, that one. I regret not looking for it.
3. I wouldn't rewatch this tbh. Not only am I not huge on rewatching shows, but thrillers and mysteries especially lose their appeal to me after the 1st watch

it is only the female lead that's on Earth.

you should have left her alone

Nonsense comedy drama

I watched it last year and found out in Tiktok ads and turns out it was entertaining but somehow they got some nonsense plot like COVID-19 like what did scriptwriter eat when they making this? The romance part was quite lacking since they choose to focused on comedy plot (It can't be helped since its Wang Nan and Sun Qian Xun combo). The beginning was quite great FL was transmigrated into ancient while found ML was tyrant king who actually got transmigrated before FL (It reminds me of How Dare You especially the "How are you" part to check ML identity) but somehow got missed on COVID-19 plot and try to make angst but somehow it lacks the feeling and the ending was quite not memorable.

Still decent watch though.

More a comedy with some sincere moments than a romance

This quirky rom-com (featuring an aspiring pâtissier possessed by a demon and a jobless guy) is much more focus on the comedy aspect than on the romance which is never very deepened.

However, I did not mind at all that is was not really a romance. On the contrary, I liked that the writing put the focus on the demon / human relationship. The ending opened the doors to more and even if it felt a bit abrupt, overall it was a nice watch.

Yoona really did an excellent job showcasing diametrically different personalities while giving the male lead (played by Ahn Bo Hyun) full whiplash effect.

I would recommend this to people looking for a comedy with some heartfelt moments. The romance is really not the main aspect of the story but I think it is worth a shot as I found the storytelling around the fantasy elements super interesting with some very well made background regarding the curse.
