I know you'll watch it in one day
this kdrama is so peak.if you like action, fighting, touching on difficult topics and the theme of defending the weak, this kdrama is for you.
it will teach you a lot, including this - that you always face the consequences of your actions, no matter who you are.
The recently released kdrama is glad it didn't happen, no matter what. It's a good thing you'll watch it in one day. Let the excitement take over.
If you like this kdrama, I recommend watching The Uncanny Counter or Taxi Driver as well.
thank you and goodbye

Not your typical dating show
I do find this show quite lovely. It is pretty rare to see a reality show that only focuses on queer women. Although, beware, this is not a full-on dating show, it was more about connection to the community and friendships. The value of this show lies in the conversations. All those different perspectives, even if you do not necessarily agree with some of them, are extremely interesting and absolutely worth listening to. The discussions vary from one topic to another: AI, open relationships, sexuality, etc. When it comes to the format, it was fine. Nothing extraordinary but also not boring. The number of episodes was definitely not enough to explore the relations the way they deserved to be, but it gave some kind of foundation. Again, I feel like it was more about the mentality rather than the physicality. But it is not like there was no romance at all. The editing was fun, the episodes are free to watch, and I had a big grin on my face every Wednesday while watching it: what is more to want? Was this review helpful to you?
An uncomfortable watch, for all the worst reasons.
Abysmal. Just Awful. Plot holes. Terrible acting/pairing. Needless tropes. Eyesore makeup, across the board. There wasn't one scene where I could forget the weird and glaring transitions from matt and cakey to oily and blotchy foundation, distracting eyelash extensions that never came off, even after a near fatal injury, and endless eyeshadow abominations long, long after the momentary dance scenes (that were the only justifications) where over. I've never seen a k-drama so afraid of the fresh-skin-natural-look (as natural as k actors can look). I also never seen a k-drama where the makeup is distracting in every episode. When it was glimpsed that the lead was reapply MAC lipstick, it all made sense. Why oh why did they think making her visual theme at matt lip, was worth sticking with until the end. Horribly chapped, made her deliver even harder to take seriously. Dry. Dry acting. Dry lips. Why?She wasn't even the richest character in the show, yet somehow needed the most lavish unjustified wardrobe changes every other scene. Made no sense at all. It was predictable at some point, just waiting to see what monstruous outfit she'd have applied to her sickly frail frame next. The green mini dress and blocky platforms at the child's birthday party reveal was just embarrassing. It made her 'other woman' reveal all the more desperate looking. Aside from youth, the cheating husband downgrade was the weakest point of the story, no chemistry, no depth, you couldn't even buy the lust. I can't recall a moment they appear happy or comfortable in each other's presence. It was like watching strangers who had been paid to act sexually interested in each other, but had no experience to draw from.
I'm not sure what work the male lead had done to his face, but is was the show's cringiest casting, by a mile. Between his and the female lead's acting, it was impossible to root for either of them, separately or as a winning couple. Only a Romeo & Juliet tragic ending may have saved their bizarre performance.
The only saving grace was the actress who delivered a bearable Han So Ra. The sole performance worth enduring, through a alarmingly weak plot and shambolic writing. Aside from her, every other character appeared perpetually emotionally stunted, for what reason, I can't fathom. At least Han So Ra had a believable OTT arc into madness. Every other performance was either forced or timid.
The boredom set in so early, it was a pain to finish, with an ending that didn't simply fall short, it was a sheer insult to watch, though not at all surprising after episode 7, you could see the trainwreck no matter what.
An uncomfortable watch, for all the worst reasons.

Slice of life with lessons on the side
I think this drama is not supposed to be anything grand. I think it gave us what it advertised in a very sweet little packaging and although there were angsty parts, it was still easily digestible. Essentially this is about two struggling people, trying to figure out their current situation and eventually their future. They're grappling with themselves and doubting their purpose in life, all while in the beautiful backdrop of a small island. After both ML and FL suffered losses that had huge impacts on their lives, they find and heal each other, relearning how to enjoy a simple life. The drama offered a few beautiful quotes and sentiments about forgiveness, self growth and expectations from others and oneself.Although sometimes it felt like there were quite a few filler scenes with food, the core story about finding back to yourself and realising what truly makes you happy in life and being content, is truly heartwarming. Sometimes I struggled a little with the FL's attitude or some directorial choices that were made, but overall the characters were likeable.
If you're looking for a story about people who are not perfect and are trying to stay afloat amidst their worries, helping each other out, paired with beautiful cinematography and food scenes, then this is for you. It's calming and quiet, not too draggy and perfect for a breather and early summer!

Slow-Burn Tragedy That Needed 10 Fewer Episodes
48 Episodes of 'Why Did I Watch This?' (And Why You Might Want To Too)This drama has been sitting on my watchlist for literal years. I kept putting it aside because, let’s be real, I knew it didn’t have a happy ending and I wasn't sure I was ready for the heartbreak. But as a total fan of Dilraba Dilmurat and Vin Zhang, I finally made it my mission to binge it just to see what their acting was like back in their rookie days.
In a nutshell, The King's Woman is a tragedy mostly based on the life of on the first Emperor of China, starring Dilraba Dilmurat as Gongsun Li, a compassionate and free spirited woman forced into the palace of the ruthless Qin Emperor, Ying Zheng, who is played by Vin Zhang. The catch? She’s secretly pregnant with her first love's child. Ying Zheng's toxic, possessive self decides to accept the baby anyway just to keep her by his side, creating a super messy and dark bond with Gongsun Li. Meanwhile, her childhood sweetheart, Jing Ke and father of her child, played by Liu Chang, goes down a dark ‘no way out’ path to become a legendary assassin.
Fun fact: Jing Ke and Ying Zheng are both real historical figures.
Honestly, the whole show is just a massive twist of fate. These three actually met as kids when one was in danger, and the other two saved him. Flash forward, and that little kid who they saved grows up to be the first emperor of China—and the literal reason they both die.
Yikes. So, word of advice: if you go into this expecting a fluffy romance, you are doing it wrong. I see quite a lot of hate online from people who watched this one when it came out, criticizing the actual romance. The romance in this drama is a myth. This is a tragedy, plain and simple.
And don’t forget that it’s loosely based on history; while the assassin and the Emperor were real people, Dilraba's character is fictional to make the drama interesting and actually show the real price of power. If you drop the romance expectations, it actually gives a pretty realistic look at how trapped women were in ancient China. Romanticizing the story between her and the Emperor was pretty much for the sake of viewership and dramatization and the reasons I mentioned above.
Yes, there is absolutely crazy chemistry between Dilraba and Vin Zhang and that’s the reason why this drama is controversial because people totally misinterpret the "romance" between the female lead and the king because of this chemistry. She didn't magically forget her first love. She was genuinely in love with her childhood sweetheart, the father of her kid. But she had to survive for the sake of her son.
Sure, spending years trapped in a palace with the king meant she grew to understand him, but half her heart was elsewhere. I think perhaps there was quite a lot of screen time given to them to portray them as a couple and it perhaps was a mistake because the drama gives a feel of a romantic drama with that much time given to the relationship between Gongsun Li and Ying Zheng. If writers were to concentrate on everyone’s stories equally and just take a full on ‘historical tragedy’ approach that would perhaps not have given viewers an idea that this was a romantic storyline. Also, despite the amount of the toxicity between the couple and the fact that she is forced into being his wife, there’s barely any skinship. We hardly get any intimacy. They share a few kisses on screen and that’s it. The only real romantic intimacy-filled scene is between Gongsun Li and Jing Ke at the beginning of the drama, which tells you that he was always the one despite her loving Ying Zheng in her own way.
As for the execution? The actors were super young here, but the acting is surprisingly good. That said, the pacing was a snail-paced test of patience at times. This show easily could have chopped off 10 episodes and been way better for it. On the bright side, the fight scenes actually serve and super fun to watch, considering this is a drama that was filmed more than 10 years ago. Yes, there are way too many irrelevant side characters and political filler, but hey, that’s 2017 C-drama logic for you.
The production value is a bit of a mixed bag. The costumes and sets look great, and I love that they actually shot on location instead of abusing green screens and cheap CGI. But oh my god, the makeup! Specifically for Jing Ke at the beginning? Absolutely criminal. The make up. team eventually made him look really. Bada$$. I loved it but first half of the show feels like they try to make him look ugly on purpose.
As far as the ending goes, yes, it’s extremely sad, but I was surprised at the fact that I didn’t hate it at all. Everything that the characters did and Gongsun Li’s final choice at the end made total sense. We are left with the lingering filling of the possibility of the better future for Ying Zheng. Perhaps in that fictional universe, he could be a really benevolent ruler. Obviously, historically, we know that while he did unify China, he was pretty much a dictator. But he still goes down in history as someone who ultimately did an important thing.
It’s an old drama and it’s definitely not for everyone and people who are only coming into C-drama now will probably not be able to stomach it, however, I’d still recommend it if you are in the mood for a good cry or if you love Dilraba Dilmurat and Vin Zhang and want to see them in their breakthrough roles…or just want a vintage c-drama, or if you just want to finally check it off your list since the drama community still brings it up all the time.

Strong start
Lee Jae wook... the last kdrama i watched staring him was Impossible Heir , and let me say this .. this show reminded me that he truly is a very good actor. Most of my laughs are his realistic reactions to things that happend daily with people and how we react toward those issues . Eg the bugs 🐛I am extremely happy that Shin Ye-eun is our FL , honestly I was actually so upset on how her character got robbed in a 100 memories. But DOTE looks like it's really her time to shine .
Over all the show still have a few episodes to go but its good

sebel sama ibu² " awas nnti anak saya minder"

For a VERY specific audience, do not expect logic or maturity
The experience of watching this while it was on-going is genuinely one in a million. I could not keep up with the discussions of characters being irredeemable one week and then being redeemed the next, somehow. This show had a LOT of flaws, but goddamn does it keep you hooked. The first few episodes are filmed in such a close camera lens and shots that it genuinely feels a bit obsessive and personal, later on you understand why. The characters were mostly one dimensional, but Lu Feng, what a character. Watching the show just to see what he does next became the new motivation for me honestly. The acting was amazing from him and he did NOT hold back.
Xiao Chen...I wish he was braver.
Anyways GREAT ost ! Overall good watch.

One of My Unexpected Favorites!
Teach You a Lesson was honestly such a fun watch. I started it without expecting much but it ended up surprising me in a good way. I was honestly hooked front one point and then binged watched like crazy. The story keeps things interesting and all the main characters feel relatable enough that you actually care about what happens to them. They were probably the strongest part for me because they felt real and easy to get attached to.What I liked most was how balanced each moment was. Some scenes in the eps genuinely made me laugh(especially FL's swearing rap lmao) and a few had me really invested in the characters' growth.
The pacing was pretty good overall and I never felt bored while watching.
If you’re looking for something entertaining with likable characters and a meaningful message I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. I had a really good time watching it and would happily watch it again.
And also it's a 10 for me!

don't expect a lot, you'll get disappointed
I had mixed feelings about the drama, one time I would smile at their sweet moments another time I would get frustrated, but in the end drama disappointed me.1_it's another cliche cdrama where ML is a superman, hardworking_good at ANYTHING comes his way_cooks and cleans_ good in his studies. He is just PERFECT and FML except being a nerd is useless.
at one point FMLs father tells her by the way you talk , you know that you are dating down. I seriously wanted to tell the writer what is going on in your mind exactly?? the way you designed this ML both father and daughter should truly BE HONRED that they're gonna have a son in law like him.
2_ MLs mother: the writer at first wanted to show her as someone irresponsible and a total mess who doesn't even know how much money she has or earns considering that she would spent LOTS of money on gambling and shopping when she was already deep in debt and the mess she caused during the show, the reason was to first give FML a moment to show she is not that useless, second to add drama in MLs life. this is sooo unacceptable for me because MORE than 10 years someone like her took care of that family. we CAN NOT forget that ML only started working 2 years what about before that? it was all his mother.
this already shows that she is both hardworking and responsible.
3_ another horrible cliche in cdramas forgiving those who commit crime or do smt terrible to the leads,
first FML forgives her bully who among other things literally sends thugs in her way so she can just score higher in an exam. and then ML forgives a criminal who stabs him TWICE and after that he threatens him that when he is done with ML he is gonna go for his sister. REALLY?? for forgiving someone like that you are either STUPID or a saint.
I'm so upset that I wasted my time on this drama, big mistake. this is a fairytale.

An Interesting Lead Carries a Familiar Story
First of all, yes, some of my favorite BLs are from China (nothing will ever top The Untamed for me), but I still believe I can judge this series fairly. I also haven't watched the movies and have only read a few chapters of the novel so far.I'm a fan of Lu Feng (LF), and honestly, he was the main reason I stayed invested throughout the series. That doesn't mean I want to justify all of his actions, but he was by far the most interesting character in the drama. On the other hand, I was often either bored by or frustrated with Cheng Yi Chen (Xiao Chen). This isn't a criticism of the actor—it's more about the character being portrayed as an insecure son who constantly goes along with his family's expectations. That said, Xiao Chen was also responsible for many of the sweet and heartwarming moments, so I could still appreciate him overall.
The chemistry between the main actors was good, though not exceptional. Still, they managed to create several memorable scenes together, and I've already come across quite a few fan edits that I absolutely loved.
Since I want to keep this review spoiler-free, I won't go into too much detail. However, even though I didn't enjoy every episode equally, I was always curious to see what would happen next. The shift in tone during the later episodes, when the story became significantly darker, was actually a welcome surprise for me.
Now let's talk about the side couple... *sigh*
Xiao Chen's younger brother, Cheng Yi Chen (CYC), got on my nerves quite a lot. For most of the series, I simply didn't understand him. He was far too involved in his brother's love life, and while I could understand some of his motivations, his actions frequently frustrated me. As the younger brother, he's portrayed as rather immature, which probably contributed to my feelings.
Next to that, I liked Qin Lang (QL), CYC's love interest, but unfortunately I never became emotionally invested in their relationship. If anything, I would have liked to see more of QL as an individual character—perhaps even interacting with LF separately.
As for the rest of the supporting cast, all characters were fairly forgettable. Many disappeared from the story in one way or another. Because of that, I would personally recommend watching this series primarily for LF(Ayden Sng) rather than for the supporting cast.
As for the plot itself, the series features two 5-year time skips, allowing us to follow the characters through college, their first jobs, and eventually a more settled stage of adulthood. While this provides room for character development, I can't say the characters themselves felt particularly memorable. I suspect I'll forget most of them fairly quickly.
I generally enjoy BLs with darker themes (such as To My Star and Yesterday), but I also appreciate lighter series (Me and Thee, Cat for Cash). While I'm happy that more mature BL stories are being released lately, I still look for something beyond simply collecting "red flag" or "toxic relationship" tropes.
In that regard, Double Helix succeeds partially. One of its strengths is the contrast between the sweet, innocent school romance in the beginning and the later exploration of homophobia, family pressure, and the struggle to fight for one's own happiness. Emotional scenes play a major role throughout the series, and one of my favorite moments was Lu Feng's honesty in EP 10. Overall, the main couple's storyline worked well for me, while my enjoyment of the side plots (e.g. the main character's families) varied considerably.
Music: The soundtrack was enjoyable, and 3 songs from the series have already made it onto my Spotify playlist.
Rewatch Value: Honestly, I'm still undecided. The series certainly wasn't bad, but whether I rewatch it will probably depend on what future BL releases look like and whether I'm in the mood for something familiar that I know I enjoyed before.
Final Thoughts: I would recommend Double Helix to viewers who don't expect a completely unique story. The series includes several familiar BL tropes, such as the rich-versus-middle-class dynamic. I would also recommend it to viewers who are willing to engage with an obsessive male lead without immediately dismissing the character. Not because his behavior should be excused, but because fiction and reality are not the same thing, and some viewers may find the character study interesting.
You may want to check out one of the trailers first:

HIDDEN GEM OF 2026
"If you don't know what you don't know, you'll never know what you need to know."I find dramas like these to be tough to review because of how delicate the world and representation is for this kind of show, and as someone who isn't an expert in the field that tackles ASD and ADHD, I can't comment on how accurate the depiction is. But, what I can say, is that Kenichi Matsuyama played a remarkably convincing portrayal of the character. He embodies Ando uniquely in a way that I haven't seen for this type of role before.
The rest of the supporting cast were fantastic too. Even the guest appearances were great as well, which I find refreshing because with procedural dramas performances can vary, but with this one, there isn't a single case where I find the guest actors lacking.
In a way, this reminds me of Liaison: Kodomo no Kokoro Shinryosho. I think there are some similarities with the setting of the leads and how the cases and themes were handled. Kiyoharu Ando was diagnosed with ASD ( Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) as a child. Now, transferred to a new branch, he must fulfill his duties while keeping his condition from his colleagues. For Ando, he's challenged by the thought of working in the legal field when he's an "alien" who can't function as normal humans do. Does he have the qualities to be a judge? what does it even mean to become a judge? these are some of the questions that he and the viewers are tackled with.
The cases are typical with one big case in the second half that becomes a highlight and important catalyst for the lead's story arc which I think was fantastically handled. I bawled my eyes out on that final courtroom scene.
It might be a huge statement to say that this is the best drama I have seen this year. But honestly, I was already feeling a bit hopeless when it came to finding any great dramas lately, which I know is totally a me problem. So I'm glad that I did not let this one pass, which is also why, I wanted to give it a highlight. Maybe, there are others out there who might find something valuable in this story.

Wow the World - the healthiest, most stress free variety show
I’m not a huge fan of most Chinese variety shows. Even when some claim to be “healing” variety shows, there will always be some unnecessary drama being stirred up or maliciously played up to given “tension”. There’s also a lot of jostling for attention among cast members with a strong feeling of one-upsmanship.Wow the World is the opposite of all that. It does genuinely seem to want to have the cast members be at ease and comfortable. It’s also wonderful to see how the “generation gap” is addressed - mostly in a humorous tone but also respectfully.
I couldn’t stop laughing in the first episode when Chen Xing Xu first appeared. I had only just gotten to know him as an actor through Love Between Lines and it blew my mind how completely different his actual personality was. (Which also then made me realise how tremendous an actor he was to so convincingly have people believe that he was this cool, domineering persona based on his more recent and well known dramas.) At one point I was actually wondering how he could possibly survive in the entertainment industry given how introverted and socially anxious he is. But through him, the beauty of this variety show is very clear- in the ending episode, he volunteers an ending remark and chokes up as he shares that he had always wanted to bring his family travelling and he never thought that he would be comfortable enough to travel with anyone else. However, through the show, he has truly found a family that he wants to see the world with. He then quickly apologizes for speaking out of turn or spoiling the mood. But then his Wow the World all immediately interject to reassure him that what he said was valuable and that his sincerity brings a lot to the show.
That sense of family and just different pairings makes all the difference. Although the show definitely could do with fewer indoor games and more actual interaction with the local environment like the Sicily leg (which was truly beautiful), the dynamics in the cast made for such a comfort watch. (The leaks for Wow the World 2 show that the production did take the feedback quite seriously so it’s shaping to be a same same yet different show. Hopefully it will not lose the heart and charm of the first season.)
