Fun Concept (but AI intro)

A new recruit joins a military base who is dealing with the demise of his father. The officers decide to put him on kitchen duty. But since arriving at this base, he has been seeing a strange game like pop-up window in front of his face. The window and voice offer him a path to becoming an experienced chef and in the process winning over his colleagues by uplifting the vibe of the place through delicious meals.

The game like challenges mixed in with very real life issues of these soldiers was an interesting twist and is what made this show a fun watch. The episodes were entertaining as were the character developments. The food making process was also nice. And overall the show gives you a glimpse into the world of the Korean military.

Though the comedy wasn't bad, it only made me chuckle a couple of times. Like when the actors started to speak Spanish befause of how good the food was.

Actually I'm torn between giving this a 9 or 8.5. As fun as it was to see this, maybe an 8.5 is more fitting. Also I've read that AI was used to create the intro theme which was disappointing.

Wonderland of Love: Strong Start But Disappointing So Far

I’m not finished with Wonderland of Love yet, but I’m honestly quite disappointed with how it’s turning out.
It started off really strong and had so much promise. The drama features two strong main leads, a great side couple, and a stomach-turning villain. However, after the first few episodes, it began going downhill.
My biggest issues are:

The characters (especially the FL) aren’t developing much.
The relationship between the FL and ML jumps from 0 to 100 way too quickly with little buildup.
The story is becoming quite repetitive.

I’m also finding the FL pretty annoying because she doesn’t seem to be growing as a person. It’s really sad because the drama had such a good direction in the beginning.
I’ll continue watching to see if it improves, but right now it’s been a big letdown.

Entertaining

The drama is nice. There isn't much new about the concept. A lawyer begins to see ghosts and decides to help them eventually. How he makes money? No idea. They never really discuss the money aspect.

The stories of each individual were good and it was honestly a fun watch. Very binge worthy too. But is it an exceptional drama? Certainly not. I liked the concept of water being used to undo the possession. Simple and effective. It was obvious what was coming by the end so it was also predictable.

I didn't see much romantic chemistry between the leads but they worked well together.

They also didn't explain what happened to the shaman in the end.

If you do decide to watch it, you won't be enthralled by it but it won't be disappointing either.

Pursuit of Jade: Funny, Heartbreaking & Addictively Good

Pursuit of Jade was one of the best dramas I’ve watched in a while! It perfectly mixes funny, heartbreaking, and heart-tugging moments all together.
I loved the romance between the main couple — it was so cute and hilarious. The female lead is really strong and independent, which made her super cool. I also adored the kids in this drama, they were absolutely adorable!
This drama did an amazing job showing how dark and twisted some kinds of love can become. The two brothers as villains were incredibly stomach-turning and honestly haunted me. The way it explores aggressive, poisonous love and the madness it can cause was really well done.
The character development throughout the show is excellent. I loved watching every character grow and change.
Overall, this drama has tragedy, humor, strong love, and great writing. I would definitely rewatch it and highly recommend it to anyone who loves a rich love story with depth.

Chemistry so good that I want them in another drama together.

Love everything about this drama especially chemistry between Souma and Shion. The only part that annoys me is Mitsuki's friend. I wish that this drama is a bit longer atleast 15 episodes so I could watch more of their lives and love story in the present time.In addition their career, family and friends story evolves.
Actually I personally think that Honda resembles Lee Chae min and Kumada Rinka resembles Jang Seo hee.

A mix of Scream and Saw with a mediocre result.

I honestly don't understand why GMM-TV insists on creating series with darker themes if they're going to stop halfway through to throw in a joke and have the characters kissing.

What's scary here isn't the killer but the weak acting and shallow protagonists who never convince in their roles as detectives. It's the extremely low-level production that delivers lazy cinematography, uncertain direction and a soundtrack incapable of evoking a feeling of terror.

And worst of all, the series had immense potential that is absurdly wasted by a script that doesn't know if it wants to be a silly romance between cops or a murder mystery.

For this series to work, it needed to invest a little more time in the other characters and better explore the dramas, secrets, fights, and betrayals between them.

Only then could we care minimally about their deaths. But the series follows an almost puritanical path, where all the bad characters are punished and killed for their sins.

And it's a valid path to follow but here it's developed in a rushed and secondary way, since the focus is on a bland romance that feels out of place in the story.

Their first kiss is right after a murder scene and that says everything you need to know about this series.

At no point do they manage to evoke even the slightest feeling of mystery, tension, danger, or fear.

The final revelation of the killer could have been good but there's no build-up to get there. The intrigues and discussions that the letters could have brought (by making the characters choose who should die) are sidelined and poorly utilized. The detectives are a joke and discover nothing throughout the entire series. The secondary characters have zero development. The deaths are creative but the cinematography is so bad that everything has an amateurish and low-quality feel.

There are so many mistakes, so many problems, and after watching Goddess Bless You from Death, this series feels like a childish version that tries at all costs to be dark and edge but only ends up being embarrassing.

An absurdly wasted potential. And a waste of time too.

Expect to hold your breath and be patient

The story starts fast, then slows, and slows, and slows as we learn who these people are, what's happened to them, and what they want from each other and for themselves. I was so touched by these characters and their growth - I feel as though I've read a wonderful novel, and am happy that I can go back and reread it when I'm ready.

The leads are also beautiful in ways that set each other off.

Netflix should have let this be the sixteen episodes it was born to be. We needed more time with parts of the story that didn't get to fully unfold.

"The devil loves to play the angel"

Detective vs Sleuths aka Demon Hunter was a frenetic carnival ride strewn with dead bodies, mental illness, and revenge. It proved the old adage to be true, “Just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.”

Lee Jun is a disgraced ex-detective who sees and hears things that other people do not. His motto is, “Whoever battles monsters should ensure that he does not become one.”* A dead man reveals a sinister plot to Jun. With each death comes a clue pointing to the next one-all cases of Jun’s that lacked the evidence to prove guilt. A very pregnant inspector, Chan Yee, becomes caught up in Jun’s madness all while her department is convinced he is actually mad and may be the criminal perpetrator.

Jun was considered a Chosen Sleuth before he broke down. But in this film, the question of who was the sleuth and who was the psychopath, became deeply entwined. A team of murderous avengers calling themselves The Chosen Sleuths hunted down the suspects in Jun’s notes, meting out their own form of justice. The Hong Kong police were often shown as ineffectual and quick to jump to conclusions leading to tragic results. Jun’s manic episodes and connections to the cases eroded any confidence in his abilities and innocence.

DvS moved fast and erratically with a large cast. When cops were killed and everyone cried, I had no idea who they were talking about. The bad guys had at least three huge vans of deadly avengers. The camera bounced around as much as the cast did. A few breathers for the audience to process the information being rapidly dumped minute-to-minute would have been nice. Most annoyingly, the Cantonese dubbing was terrible for several characters.

Lau Ching Wan was excellent as the brilliant, if very unstable, Lee Jun. Once I learned how to keep my balance on this topsy-turvy rollercoaster, it became more bearable and thrilling. The grand finale was a grossly over the top explosion that threw everything it could at the screen to be memorable. In some ways it succeeded, while still not managing to feel convincing. A wild, hallucinogenic, and violent film with numerous red herrings, Detective vs Sleuths dizzily stumbled about as it sought to discover who was the sleuth and who was the psychopath. Sometimes, both things can be true.

*Quote Note: "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche’s “Beyond Good and Evil”.

Trigger Warnings: Countless deaths by knives, guns, and fire. The bodies really stacked up in this one. One torture scene.

Slightly spoilery maternity note: Perhaps Chan Yee’s baby was the real demon. No umbilical chord? Yeah, that’s creepy.

Duaaaang!

Watch this, really!
I watched this a couple days ago and wow!! I was searching for a more cute soft bl drama, kinda youth vibes, and thats what i've got. This bl really healed me, i was tired of bl's that were too complicated or hard to watch, and this one is definitely easy and good to watch, i felt good and happy all the episodes that were happy, and i could get emotional when i had to. And when i was watching i always felt kinda silly happy bursting with happiness just like Duang. Its a very light series that made me wanna live again, lol. We had some spice and emotional moments too, all in good amounts. The chosen actors were amazing, all of them good choices, they're all adorable and act really well, even tho they're not in this career for much long.
I know some people could "cringe" in some moments, but thats absolutely not me, i felt just like Duang freaking out cutely.

To finish: Duang love Qin, Qin love Duang!

Love Upon a Time: A Place I Visited, Not Just a Series I Watched

ove Upon a Time ended up being everything I hoped it would be and more.

After production delays, recasting, and significant changes from the original pilot, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. What I got was a beautifully crafted historical fantasy romance that completely swept me away.

What surprised me most was how playful the series was. I expected something far more serious, but JJ's performance as Nakhun injects the perfect amount of humour and chaos into the story. Honestly, if a Gen Z university student suddenly found himself 400 years in the past, I would expect him to react exactly like this. His exaggerated expressions and comedic timing never felt out of place to me. Instead, they made him feel human.

Net and JJ are phenomenal together. Net brings warmth, emotional depth, and quiet strength to Phop, while JJ fills Nakhun with charm and life. Their chemistry is undeniable, and by the end of the series I was completely invested in every glance, every conversation, and every moment they shared.

What truly impressed me was the balance. Love Upon a Time is simultaneously a romance, a mystery, a period drama, and a fantasy. Remarkably, none of those elements overshadow the others. They weave together naturally, creating a story that constantly keeps you engaged.

Visually, the series is stunning. The rivers, landscapes, traditional homes, costumes, and historical locations all contribute to a world that feels rich and lived in. The production quality is among the best I've seen in Thai BL.

And then there's the finale.

What a finale.

It's the kind of ending that feels earned. After all the love, heartbreak, danger, sacrifice, and longing, the final chapter lands with enormous emotional weight. Long after the credits rolled, I was still thinking about it.

More importantly, this series achieved something few dramas ever manage. It didn't feel like I was watching a story. It felt like I was living inside one. I wasn't simply observing these characters—I felt present alongside them.

I'll carry Love Upon a Time with me not as a show I watched, but as a place I visited.

Nem todo amor salva. Alguns ajudam a sobreviver.

Quando terminei The Sparkle in Your Eye, eu percebi que tinha anotado apenas duas coisas:

"Quanto custa realizar nossos sonhos quando eles estão embebidos em desespero?"

E:

"Criar forças para se reerguer por causa de alguém."

E talvez isso diga mais sobre o impacto desse BL em mim do que qualquer resenha que eu pudesse escrever.

Porque, no fim, eu fiquei pensando justamente nisso.
