Cry me a River

What a beautiful world building along with such good performances by the cast.

Watch it if you like to see pretty people cry prettily. Emotional scenes landed a punch everytime. Story was engaging with lots of twists and turns. Casts had such amazing chemistry.

Enjoyed it very much.

Perfect Crown, Perfect Story

First rom-com I’ve watched where I didn’t have SML syndrome. so it can be done! lol. he did a phenomenal job as i DESPISED his character lol.

I loved the fashion, the story, the familial relationships growing and everything in between.

everyone’s acting was phenomenal. I am certain this will be my rom com of the as nothing I’ve seen so far has come close.

chemistry was great, the visuals were great, everything was great. I really liked the parallels showing “perfection” throughout the story. it’s not just the crown, but the world they’re living in. ugh, I’m obsessed.

A Masterpiece of Wuxia Storytelling

Blades of the Guardians is, without a doubt, the standout wuxia production of the year. From the moment the film began, I was completely captivated by the stunning visual artistry and the depth of the world-building. It perfectly captures the essence of the genre while feeling fresh, grounded, and deeply sincere.

What truly sets this movie apart is its ability to balance intense, beautifully choreographed action with moments of genuine heart. It is a rare gem that manages to be both thrilling and wholesome, leaving a lasting emotional impact that most genre films fail to achieve. The character dynamics are written with such care that you cannot help but become invested in their journey, and the aesthetic presentation is nothing short of breathtaking.

This is the kind of film that rewards repeat viewings; every time I go back to watch it, I discover a new detail or a subtle nuance I missed before. It has set a new benchmark for me, and I can confidently say it is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates high-quality storytelling and masterful cinematography.

overly sentimental and a lot of whining

it could have been good…but it wasn’t. The older actresses and actors are great, as always; Park Jin-Young and Ryu Kyung-soo are entertaining but OMG… the endless nasal whining from Park Bo-Young combined with some of the excessively sentimental story lines -with again plenty of crying-killed it for me. Additionally: Flatlining story and no character development whatsoever for the only gay in the village. God forbid he’s actually portrayed as a gay man in love….spineless choice, writers!

Finding a home in the least expected place ?

I was hooked right from the first episode and completed this 30-episode drama in 3 days. I personally haven't seen or heard of these two main leads before. The only familiar face was the guy who acted as Gu Ran in WIFTY and also the girl from Lighter and Princess. That said, I really enjoyed the acting and casting throughout. No supporting casts felt redundant or extra.

I loved that the show also had many life lessons that we could take away. It was not just a feel good drama or one that gives butterflies. The balance of joys, setbacks, pain, and grief made the show so relatable.

The grandma (nai nai) was definitely the heart of the show for me. Her timely wisdom and comfort to her grandchildren always made me tear up. That scene where the FL almost got sexually assaulted and the nai nai embraces her... "You're home now, you're home," she comforts. That meant so much for someone who had lost her mother to illness and had just been abandoned in a place that felt nothing like home. Yet it was in that moment that she experienced love, warmth, and protection.

Even though the FL was initially portrayed as a spoilt brat/princess, and was getting on the ML's nerves, he continued to do his part as a distant relative and care for her. Coming from very different backgrounds and holding different views on money, they initially have a lot of misunderstandings and conflicts. At the end of the day, while money is important, the show also taught how there are things that cannot be resolved with money.

"Will you think if others are hungry if you are starving?" the FL asked her Dad when he made his way into the Xuan Town determined to take her back to Bei Jing to resume back to her normal life. By then, the FL had resolved to stay in this town to get through her high school and apply for university thereafter. She had grown to love the people in this little town. She saw how these people who didn't have much, shared the little they had with her - making sure she always had her fill, and had a shelter over her head.

Having grown mutual affection for each other, I never really understood why they needed to cut off contact completely after the FL departed for BeiJing. But my guess is that if that separation never happened, both of them wouldn't have become the better people they became five years later. The FL encourages the ML by telling him that if he really wanted to see her again, he would find a hundred ways to get there. Fuelled by her belief in him, he also promises the FL, "Keep going forward, don't look back, I'll eventually catch up to you."

This show really captured the reality of growing up pains, figuring out their life's purpose and what happens when you don't give up and keep fighting. Despite several setbacks and loss the varied characters face, there was always hope - light that shone through the cracks, sunshine after the storm. Even for the 'villain', there was also a redemptive arc, to own your mistakes and take charge of your own future.

The writers really wrote the script and directed the show really well. One of my favourite metaphor in the show was: Life is like a box of chocolates - you may have just eaten a bitter one, but the next could be sweet. Truly captured the beautiful perspective on the unpredictability of life.

With its heartfelt storytelling, memorable characters, meaningful life lessons, and stunning cinematography, this is a drama that stays with you long after the final episode. A must-watch!

I watched it because of Seo In guk and I loved it only becuse of his acting and the fl acting.
They were so amazing together that I completely forgot about how bad their choices were. Their moments together felt so genuine and it really made me root for them even though they did crazy things. Them being together was so great that I chose to ignore why they should have never been together in the first place.
I didnt like the plot and the choices the characters made.
I wish Seung and Kim Moo Young hadnt gotten together or even if they did I wish he wouldnt have gotten her killed just for fun. I wish they wouldnt have made Jin Kang so bad that she decided to pursue her relationship with Kim Moo Young like 2 days after her friend died. These and many other things the characters did, dont even make any sense.
They could have chosen to show how broken Kim Moo Young was in other ways. They could have made his and Jin Kangs love story a dignified one.
And I dont even want to start talking about the brother. He was soooo frustrating, My God! He couldnt do anything right. If only he had told the truth to both of them since the beginning things wouldnt have gotten the way they did.

Splendid acting, amazing tragic story, not so good of a plot.

To inherit, the grandson of a chaebol must marry this teacher chosen by his grandfather. They agree to try to be a couple for six months, but his cousin will try to interfere, and his ex-girlfriend will also try to get her to marry him.
Beautiful soundtrack, with music that makes you sing and move your foot. I also liked the change of attitude of this guy.

NB It's seems me strange that this teacher hasn't been able to meet his grandfather in six months.

A Worth-Watching Sitcom, But Nothing Extraordinary

Ultimately I thought it was a decent, easy watch. As a huge fan of sitcoms it's definitely on the lower end, but there aren't a ton of options for true sitcoms from Korea, so it still scratched that itch. I found it funny enough, though definitely had more misses than I typically like in my sitcoms (but I've also come to realize that Korean comedy is that way with me in general, so I don't know how much was show-specific, and how much was more of a comedy-culture gap. The characters were decent, I definitely found myself invested more than I expected in their lives. I would say my biggest problem is that I felt like a few characters really didn't have any resolution which I found disappointing. I also really didn't care for the ending scene.

My first 10 out of 10

I like the story, the twist, the tense and all the characters in this series.
Main leads both Claire and Bell were the star of the stage.
They really did well especially Claire, the dark side of her with a pure heart to protect person she cares for.
The clumsy Bell tried to survive in a wolf's den.

Kae, weak but dare.
3D the sisters
and not to say the sad and heart wrenching Grandma Porn.
The story really developed and made me can't stop watching.

The Little Show that Could

To be honest, My Page in the 90s is a drama that probably would have been shelved into a corner gathering dust for the complete lack of resources that it had. Four changes in directors, such a tight production budget that they only had one song on the OST, practically little to no marketing budget.

Many will find the drama too kitschy and campy at the start but that’s PRECISELY why I got into it. It was always meant to be a send-up of worst drama tropes and it is hilarious if you watch enough dramas (it even has the truck of doom!)

But what me made truly love it was the amount of heart it had. At the core of it is a heartfelt story of female empowerment (go normalising periods and pads!), learning to love a person because he/she sees you and believes in you (and vice versa) and learning to enjoy every small ordinary moment you have with your loved ones.

Was the cinematography & direction excellent? It had some pretty moments but it definitely came off as low cost in its sets etc (which I didn’t mind since I thought it was fairly reminiscent of the era anyway). The editing was definitely choppy at certain bits but again, with the revolving door of directors, it’s amazing that it even flowed as a story. Was the story amazing? Contrary to reviewers who thought that the ending was lazy, I actually thought it was one of the more “complete” ways of ending a transmigration story instead of the abrupt did they or did they not meet again, was it a dream nonsense. At least we know for sure that it was Gao Haiming who lived through an entire lifetime of a book to finally meet Lin Huan’er again in her universe.

The acting of the entire cast was decent, but much like how the marketing promotions for the show was carried entirely by the leads, the drama is likewise hard carried by them. Both Chen Xing Xu and Wang Yu Wen more than rise to the occasion. Their acting chemistry is so natural and so fun that it puts a smile on your face just watching them together. And when the drama takes a sudden veer into angst, they are so believable as their characters that you just cry along with them. Word of warning - the last 4 episodes is just a complete sob fest, but in the best of ways.

Would I watch it again? Absolutely yes, but with a fast forwarding of the second lead storyline and much more lingering on the happy and sweet moments between the leads.

Forced trope and lack of character development

I don't think I'm the right person to analyze the story since I dropped it after three chapters, but from what I saw, it's hard to understand how a character can be so complex.

I mean, when the protagonist spoke with that traumatized tone, as if she still didn't understand the situation she was in, you might say it was obvious because she suffered a traumatic event after seeing her father d* before her eyes, or being poisoned by her own husband or accused of betrayal. But she struck me as a weak character, lacking in backbone, or perhaps harboring deep-seated personal grudges that blinded her to what was right in front of her. The people around her praise her, portraying her as intelligent, as someone who reasons, who understands what's going on around her. But if the plot hadn't given her the chance to return to a point of no return, she might have gone down in history as the most foolish protagonist ever.

But as I said, it's not for me to judge the way something is written because I got bored very quickly. All the other characters seemed very boring to me. The protagonist caught my attention, but the excessive use of red made me nauseous. EVERYTHING, seriously, everything is red. I don't know who was in charge of the set design, but if there had been a variety of colors to express not just anger or disappointment with red, maybe I would consider continuing it.

Oh, and I'm not complaining about the acting; in fact, I liked how they portrayed the protagonist. I mean, I love his bad-boy, troubled vibe (which obviously puts him in a stereotype), but there's something that doesn't quite convince me, and maybe it's the excessive use of CGI. Perhaps they'll improve it in later episodes or change things that aren't noticeable in the first few. But it's often said that the first few episodes are essential for a story to be engaging, and I firmly believe that this is as much as I could give. Thanks, story, but I don't think you're for me.

The Power of the Slap

This is like watching Taxi Driver operating in schools. Again, the protagonist is an ex special force who is on the road of seeking closure after the loss of a loved one. Na Hwajin lost his fiance in a stabbing at school which left him devastated. Two years later, he made an appearance as the Educational Rights Protection Bureau (ERPB) inspector who goes to schools to investigate bullying cases, the first one being the death of a schoolboy.

I am always a sucker at revenge drama especially when it involves physical fights so it is truly satisfying to see how the ML teaches school bullies - be it the student, teacher or even parents - into admitting their faults and actually paying for it in a justified manner instead of just a slap on the wrists. In his case, he carries out the slap right across the face, multiple times! And the cherry on top is the ML looked exactly like John Cena the wrestler minus bulky body with oversized muscles. 😆 No wonder he looked so dang familiar in the first episode although i am pretty sure this is the first show i ever saw of him. Took me quite a while to finally pinpoint the resemblence.

I truly commend the whole cast here. Every single one performed to their fullest regardless how small their role is. The antagonists, the protagonists, the victims, the perpetrators, you name it, I just couldnt find a flaw at all. The bullied primary school teacher did exceptionally well especially with the supposedly facial tics she suffered due to stress from the bullying by a student’s parent. It must have been hard to do the tics to look so natural whenever she’s agitated.

Although most of the scenes look very far-fetched in the real world, like how the inspectors could survive a 4-storey fall like they’re robots, it didnt stop me from cheering the ERPB at every turn. The awkward other members of ERPB only made the show even more fun to watch, the nerdy deputy director Bong and the eccentric borderline crazy Inspector Im. This is an extremely satisfying watch as the evil ones never go scot free despite being minors. I am looking forward to season 2.

he’s just way cooler than she is….

OK we wait for episode 29 for a little rom. Typically the fl stays bitchy till the last possible moment. ML character is stellar and almost non-existent in the real world—an absolute jewel. She kicks him to the curb pretty much all the time. He’s too good for her, period. He should be a big time CEO and at least she pushes him back to school which he probably doesn’t need as school doesnt give leadership and Common Sense and humility which he Already Has. I will follow this actor. He really grew on me. She can act but just miscast in this role. it’s a win for me because of Li Yun Rui.
