When the Student Becomes the Author of Everyone's Fate

I went into Notes from the Last Row expecting a psychological mystery, but what I got was a disturbing character study about obsession, power, and the dangerous desire to control another person's story.
The drama's greatest strength is its two leads. Choi Min Sik gives one of his most emotionally complex performances as Heo Mun Oh. You can see every crack forming in his confidence until he completely unravels. Meanwhile, Choi Hyun Wook is mesmerizing as Lee Kang. He rarely reveals what he's thinking, which makes every interaction with him feel tense and unpredictable.
What I loved most is that there are no true heroes here. Everyone crosses moral lines. Kang isn't simply an innocent genius, and Mun Oh isn't just a victim. Their relationship constantly shifts between admiration, manipulation, dependence, and rivalry, making it impossible to choose a side.
The final episodes completely changed how I viewed the entire story. Looking back, the clues were always there, but I was just as trapped in Kang's narrative as Mun Oh was. Watching Mun Oh lose everything while Kang quietly walks away is both frustrating and brilliant because it feels like Kang has written the ending exactly the way he wanted.
I also appreciate that the series doesn't rely on cheap twists or excessive action. Instead, it builds tension through conversations, silence, and the growing uncertainty about what's true and what's fiction. It's a faithful reinterpretation of The Boy in the Last Row (El chico de la última fila), while still feeling like its own story.
This isn't a comforting drama, and it doesn't offer easy answers. But that's exactly why it stayed with me long after it ended. It's unsettling, intelligent, and brilliantly acted from beginning to end.

Overall, really enjoyable to watch and very memorable :)

What I liked most:
- Strong, independent woman: Hell yeah! Who doesn't love a woman who can do it all herself
- Amazing side characters: I love the pig butcher squad and the CEO lady of the restaurant (another bad ass and independent woman). I also love the Marquis' military advisor and his cavalry buddies. The evil guys are also so memorable and enjoyable to watch.
- Visuals: stunning
- OST: It's iconic and memorable. Still remember that specific one that comes up when the battle begins lol
- Setting: I like how they gave us different settings. Like it started in the countryside (my favourite part) where its calmish and then it goes to the battlefield and finally the palace.
- Friendship: I love when dramas are not just about romance and the leads build strong friendships along the way.
- Acting: First time to see female lead and she killed it. I have watched male lead, and I know many came for him but they both did very well and I think all the side characters really helped complete and elevate the drama.
Chemistry: Amazing!

What I didn't like/ Could've been better:
- Confusing plot: A little hard to understand. I felt like there were two stories/issues going on at the same time. Too many names to remember at the palace part but I eventually got it and it all made sense through the acting eventually.
- Side character's death: Why did they kill of the pig butcher squad member. It was so sad! they were meant to stick together till the end! I get it but then it felt like they kinda replaced the guy with a random dude which was odd.
- Battle scenes: I feel like the middle battle scenes were really good but then I feel like the battle in the palace was a little anti-climatic?

Série adorée mais le Manhua encore meilleur

Une des premières séries BL que j’ai vues — et jamais revue depuis — c’est la découverte du manhua qui m’a donné envie d’y revenir.

Là où, d’habitude, je trouve que les manhuas sont très « copier-coller » des séries, ici ce n’est pas le cas.
On garde les éléments, mais on les place différemment, et même si cela ne change pas grand-chose à l’histoire générale, j’ai trouvé que cela apportait une lecture plus claire et plus logique de leur relation.
Cela rend également le personnage de Jae Young plus impactant, et ses intentions plus cohérentes.

Malgré cela, j’ai pris beaucoup de plaisir à revoir la série, qui n’a pas baissé dans mon cœur. Le thème est original et très bien traité, avec des acteurs qui jouent magnifiquement.

Ce qui m’a le plus dérangé, c’est la musique principale. J’aime énormément ce morceau — il fait partie de ma playlist — mais il n’a rien à faire dans cette série. C’est un avis personnel, bien sûr, mais je trouve qu’il ne colle pas à l’ambiance musicale globale, et c’est assez désagréable.

J’aurais aimé que la fin prenne un peu plus son temps, car j’ai trouvé les revirements un peu trop brusques. C’était très bien, mais un petit épisode supplémentaire pour diluer tout ça aurait été parfait. (Ou peut-être est-ce simplement parce que je n’avais pas envie que ça se termine.)

Une série que je conseille si vous ne l’avez pas encore vue.

O reencontro que emocionou

BTS: O Reencontro é muito mais do que um documentário sobre um comeback. É um registro sincero de sete artistas que precisaram reaprender a trabalhar juntos depois do exército. Longe dos palcos grandiosos, o filme mostra momentos de vulnerabilidade, insegurança, debates criativos e, principalmente, a amizade que continua sendo a base do BTS. O documentário acompanha o grupo durante a criação do álbum ARIRANG, mostrando os bastidores dessa nova fase após o hiato.
O que mais me chamou atenção foi perceber que, mesmo sendo um dos maiores grupos do mundo, eles continuam enfrentando dúvidas e cobranças. Em vários momentos fica claro o peso da expectativa em torno desse retorno, mas também o quanto cada integrante se preocupa em entregar algo que represente verdadeiramente quem eles são hoje. Os momentos descontraídos arrancam boas risadas e lembram por que a química entre os sete continua tão especial. Ao mesmo tempo, o documentário não tenta romantizar o processo criativo: mostra divergências de opinião, cansaço e a pressão que acompanha um comeback.
No fim, BTS: O Reencontro entrega exatamente o que o título promete: um reencontro. Não apenas entre os sete integrantes, mas também entre o BTS e os fãs que aguardaram esse momento por tanto tempo. É um documentário emocionante, sincero e que reforça que, mesmo após anos de mudanças, a essência do grupo permanece a mesma.

A Brilliant Psychological Thriller That Gets Under Your Skin

I didn't expect Notes from the Last Row to mess with my head this much. What starts as a simple mentor-student story quickly turns into a psychological game where you never know who's manipulating whom.
The biggest reason this drama works is the cast. Choi Min Sik is outstanding as Heo Mun Oh, delivering a performance that's both heartbreaking and terrifying. Watching his obsession slowly consume every aspect of his life is fascinating. Choi Hyun Wook is equally impressive as Lee Kang. He doesn't need dramatic speeches or exaggerated expressions—his quiet confidence and mysterious presence make him one of the most captivating characters in recent K-dramas.
One of the most memorable twists is realizing that Mun Oh was never really in control. He believes he's shaping Kang into a great writer, but Kang has been pulling the strings from the very beginning. Their relationship evolves into a psychological battle where the line between fiction and reality completely disappears.
The ending is devastating. Mun Oh loses everything because of his obsession—not only with Kang's talent, but with the idea of creating something extraordinary through him. It's a tragic downfall that feels inevitable once all the pieces fall into place.
I also appreciate how the drama honors the original Spanish work, The Boy in the Last Row (El chico de la última fila). Rather than turning it into a conventional thriller, the adaptation preserves its unsettling themes of voyeurism, manipulation, artistic ambition, and moral ambiguity while giving them a distinct Korean flavor.
This isn't a drama for everyone. It's slow, dialogue-heavy, and demands your full attention. But if you enjoy psychological thrillers with layered characters and endings that stay in your mind long after the final episode, Notes from the Last Row absolutely delivers.

Love of Silom é meio morno, mas tem sua graça!

Love of Silom é aquele BL que no início nos dá uma pulga atrás da orelha por apresentar tudo de forma muito corrida, ignorando a lógica e o bom senso das coisas (da vida mesmo).

Essa série, depois do primeiro episódio, fica uma graça de assistir, e a razão disso é sem papas na língua o ator Poom. Eu já gostava dele, mas não tem como não ser cativado pela doçura do personagem, ainda que o Wayu seja muito diferente dos outros personagens de Poom. O outro querido, Up, não tem um grande leque de atuação, mas faz o suficiente.

A história teve uma premissa muito boa, mas como disse ao início, leva o bom senso ao limite. Escolhas de roteiro muito sem nexo.

É uma boa série para assistir se você gosta de um dos atores, mas não é um Must Watch dos BLs, nem do ano, nem do mês; Existe apenas para somar números no catálogo.

Snooze fest

If you're looking to get bored and waste your time, this is the series for you. I've watched A LOT of BL series and this is by far the worst one I've watched. It had a great start which is why i started watching and the actors have good chemistry and are the only reason i watched until the end, but after the 4th episode you start to wonder how long they're gonna drag it. I'm not against angst but this just went too far and fell flat for me, after the 4th episode i fast forwarded most of it. I feel like it didn't need to be that long, they just dragged it and made a bunch of filler scenes that made no sense, the confession didn't happen until that last 3 episodes, there are like 4 different couples whose storylines never made progress or had a proper ending. Waiting until the last episode for the main characters to actually start dating and realize their feelings for eachother after a 3 year time jump is insane. I honestly wish i had just skipped it, truly the most boring thing I've ever watched.

Un re-visionnage qui n'a pas perdu de son charme.

Découvert à mes débuts dans l’univers BL, j’avais adoré cette petite série très mignonne.

Il y a peu de temps, j’ai décidé de me lancer dans la lecture du manhua pour en apprendre davantage sur ce jeune couple.
Et forcément, l’envie de revoir la série m’a pris — pour mon plus grand plaisir.

J’aime l’évolution de leur relation, rapide tout en restant logique.
Tae Sung est direct et protecteur, ce qui nous évite d’ailleurs un épisode cliché.
Hae Bom m’a conquis lorsqu’il défend son amour ; là aussi, on aurait pu tomber dans une scène clichée, mais non.
J’ai vraiment apprécié ce côté plus réaliste, centré sur l’essentiel.

La musique est très agréable, tout comme l’ambiance générale. Suffisamment pour que je me refasse la série — ce qui est rare.

Le seul petit bémol que je mettrais, c’est qu’à certains moments, je trouvais le jeu d’acteur légèrement en dehors du personnage. Rien d’assez fort pour me sortir de l’histoire, plutôt une impression passagère.
Je les ai trouvés très mignons et agréables à voir ensemble.

À voir et revoir dès que vous cherchez une série douce et sucrée pour vous remonter le moral.

When the Morally Gray Deuteragonist absolutely Steals the Show

Exactly as it says in the headline.

It feels ironic that in a drama literally titled 'Warrior Baek Dong Soo', it was not the titular Dong Soo, but the man who (supposedly) stood opposite to him — Yeo Woon, who grabbed by heart right from the beginning up until the end. So much so, that I have to admit that, in contrast, I found Dong Soo's pride and arrogance in the beginning a little annoying and offputting, even though that's meant to be a part of his charm. He's mostly talk and little action, and it is not until the second half of the show that he finally begins to mature and his actions are able to back up his big talk, and that really hampered with my engagement with his character. JCW played him well, it's more the writing that was the issue here.

Dong Soo's argument about fate, though right, also lands rather weak when one considers that he was universally loved and had a strong father figure to lean on, as compared to Yeo Woon, whose own father was horribly abusive and tried to kill him, and then he got taken un by Chun, the textbook example of a narcissistic abuser, who manipulated and abused Woon on a level much worse than his biological father. His conditioning of Woon is much more subtle as compared to the outright violent bio father, but it's still VERY MUCH THERE. When their foundations are so vastly different, and DS knew little to nothing of YW's predicament, his words to Woon about defying fate come off as the empty boastings of a protagonist who has never actually had his beliefs tested. This isn't to justify YW's morally ambiguous actions, but it's simply unfair to put the blame solely on him, when he was dealt a rotten hand right from the beginning. He was a victim just as much as anyone else, and this is almost never acknowledged because of the drama's bs obsession with fate or whatever. It wasn't fate, it was Chun's extreme conditioning of him that rendered Woon unable to express himself in the most important moments, that led him to believe that there truly was no escape for him.

DS also constantly promises YW that he won't give up on him... without actually doing anything to help him. Again, it's a contrast to YW who kept helping them from the shadows. Yes, he did terrible things, but those don't nullify the good he did and the numerous times he helped them at a crucial point— those were his slight attempts at fighting the 'fate' that he had given himself up to, yet none of it is rewarded or acknowledged meaningfully— in the end, he is met with betrayal by one of the only two people he had ever felt happy with, the only ones in whom he had entrusted his hope for redemption of some sort. These elements, along with blaring plot holes and a storyline that was all over the place, were some of, if not my biggest gripe with the show.

Now, grievances aside, I want to talk about the silver lining that actually kept me watching, summed up in just two words: Yeo Woon.

It doesn't hurt that he's played by Yoo Seung Ho, and I can see why so many people who watch WBDS come out a YSH fan because sameee. He portrays Yeo Woon with such nuance, expressing his grief and conflict through his eyes alone, and that takes immense skill. This, juxtaposed with Dongsoo , who wears his heart on his sleeve and both cries and laughs freely, made Yeo Woon's reticent nature pop even more, throwing him into a much more poignant light as compared to all the other characters in the drama. The slightest flicker in his eyes, the delicate sheen of tears in scenes where Yeo Woon is emotionally and morally torn, yet it's all subdued because he has been conditioned both by his past and Chunsoo that vulnerability is not something he is allowed, especially as an assassin— it's all expressed so gut-wrenchingly well that it's impossible to not feel for him and hope that he would find his way out in the end (which is also why the ending lands as so pointlessly tragic; it denied him the honourable ending a character of his calibre deserved).

Another positive is undoubtedly the OST. It's beautiful and the background score that plays in fight scenes is simply awesome. Overall, I'd say it's worth a watch for the captivating Yeo Woon alone, and the specks of bromance that we get between him and Dong Soo, because the two actors have really, really good chemistry.

10/10 Beautiful romantic show and a must watch for Kdramas fan

Short story:- It got me hooked from the very first episode.
Long story:- I am someone who have watched plenty of Kdramas in the past and so my standard is pretty high for rating a show as positive. Any show which gets me attached and hooked from early on is straight away deserves 10 stars.
Lately at the time of writing there is so much negativity and depressing stuff going on in the world and in our life, i was looking for show which can bring smile on my face after hard day at work. I started few Kdramas on Netflix before this and was struggling to find a decent show.
About this show, first of all it is believable, the story I mean.
It's so simple yet so beautifully crafted. It's relaxing and doesn't stray away from the story much. The rural setting makes you wanna retire to some place like this in your future. The setting of the town is picturesque and full of colours. Both the lead characters are cute looking and instantly lovable. At times, the show will teach you valuable life lessons also. The romance and chemistry between the two characters are pure and angelic. You know they are made for each other.
This is so far my analysis of the show after watching the first few episodes of it. Can't wait how the rest of the story will unfold. So interesting.

I cried... and I laughed... then I cried again

First, I began watching this drama without realizing the emotional rollercoaster I was in for. Of course, the title gives a hint, but somehow I still expected something lighter and more fun. That wasn't quite the case... well, some parts were, but overall, I cried a lot. There was a moment when I was sobbing and asking myself why I hate happiness.
I recommend this drama because, even though it’s hard to watch, it remains essential. We have no idea of ​​the unfortunate situations people face throughout their lives, they suffer because we value money and a good public image more than a human life.
We talk and talk, but ultimately, we have no grasp of reality because we haven't experienced firsthand the pain the other person had to endure. To be honest, I can't even explain the importance of this drama, you simply have to watch it, and I don't want to ruin the impact it has.
I truly wish people understood the value of a human life.

10/10 Surprisingly good!

Honestly i truly didn't expect it be good, had my doubts over eunwoo being the main lead and not doing the character justice but he improved big time. Great acting by both eunwoo and ga young but her character was annoying at times especially knowing her insecurities were mainly related to her acne and she thought the only way to hide them was to wear makeup, not go to a dermatologist and fix it but wear makeup everyday to school and make it even worse. It made no sense. The real star of the show was definitely in youp, great acting and you find yourself rooting for him throughout the whole thing. He truly had the best character development delivered in the best way possible, he better get a main role soon because he got potential. It's just a typical rom-com drama with a few twists here and there but it was enjoyable and filled with great visuals and great actors so it's definitely recommended if u need something light and pleasing to the eye to watch.
