Pretty nice to kill the time

I'll start first by saying that I watched this after Love in the air, which I hated, and that I'm pretty new to thai BLs.
I liked it overall and was surprised in a good way by many aspects, first because I've disliked almost all the thai BLs i've watched so far and second because it was written by Mame which, even if I'm still new, I have already identified as being a red flag itself. There is a looot to say so I guess I'm just going to list all the things I liked and disliked.

What I liked:
-Mahasamut. He was sweet, determined, a bit naive but not stupid, sensitive and overall his characterization made sense. I liked how he gave his all for Tongrak while staying human and getting actually hurt and angry with him. So many dramas (not just thai but japanese and Korean too) have completely unrealistic love interests who stay put whatever happens to them, but Mahasamut actually breaks down when he gets rejected and resents Tongrak. The scene where he cries in front of Meena and her mom is my favorite.
-The side characters. Almost none of them were ignored or felt out of place. Meena was very well written and the actress did an amazing job, Vie was a great best friend and her storyline was also interesting, Tongrak's father was a very good villain because he used manipulation rather than actual violence which is pretty realistic when it comes to family relationships, his mom, although never seen on screen, was always omnipresent which kept her mysterious while very important and I enjoyed this choice of the director. Also a big plus which you might undersand if you watch a lot of Thai BL: WOMEN. I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate how most of the Bls i've watched act as if women don't exist. I don't need them to be the center of attention, they're not the reason I watch BLs, but still I find it so ridiculous how writers go out of their way to have close to 0 female character appear on screen. Here, there's not only a lesbian couple, but all the women have a significant role.
-The scenario ovreall was pretty nice. It wasn't revolutionary, it lacked a few things that I'm gonna develop more below, but most of it had an easy and enjoyable flow that kept me hooked all the way to the end.
-I feel like the main couple had more chemistry than in LITA. The se*ual tension between the two was on point, and there were many moments where I found their proximity endearing, such as when Tongrak hugs Mut after he got beaten up, or the few times they cuddle in bed.
-No communication problem. Loved it. I hate when miscommunication is the center of the issue.

Now onto what I didn't like:
-Tongrak. Basically Sky 2.0, I know everyone is saying this but it's true. Except that Sky had that sassy attitude which I liked a lot. Rak is just a spoiled brat. Also, his characterization was all over the place. From the beginning, even on the Island, he keeps contradicting himself. He is introduced as this bratty rich guy who wants to hate Mut just because, but the second Mut gets close to him he flirts back, then he has this lovey dovey moment where he wants to stay with Mut but when they go to Bangkok he's back to pretending he doesn't care about him, etc.... He had a few badass moments (with Prin in the vip room for example) which were nice, but otherwise he's just a big baby and even if his trauma made sense, it felt too close to Sky's so nothing too exciting. Also a small detail that doesn't even matter but still: They keep saying how he has so much booze and keeps drinking. Never saw him drunk or even just drink once. Rookie writer mistake of telling but not showing.
-Mahasamut being pictured as the ultimate island lover, then going to Bangkok and never mention it again, not even showing once a bit of homesickness, then go back and all the sudden he cannot live without his island.
-Vie and Mook's relationship getting mostly skipped over. At some point Mook is desperate and completly avoiding Vie, then next thing you know they're dating. And that was in the special episode, in the official ending we never hear from their relationship again. I would have loved to see how they got close again, to see Mook finally accept that Vie is not just playing with her, to have Vie appologize and explain that she treated Mook badly just cuz she thought it was the only way to keep her close. And they were pictured as the second couple, not just some random side characters, so that was pretty disappointing.
-I swear to god all these guys had to do was call the police on the father, it was so frustrating to see everything go down without them even mentionning it once (actually they did mention it once, but it was after everything was over already)

As a last point, because we cannot escape it when talking about Mame's stories, let's talk about the toxicity.
Some people seem to think that it was super toxic. I don't share this opinion, and I'm not saying that just because there were no sexual assault like in other dramas, but because everyone stays in control all the time. Yes, paying for someone's company and treating them like a toy is pretty toxic. But Mahasamut is not in a weak position, he is never cornered, he knows exactly what he wants and has willingly signed the contract. Same for Tongrak, he can back up from the contract whenever he wants, and even if Mahasamut is very assertive most of the time, the few times where he actually is serious about needing space, Mut respects it.
What I find the most toxic in a lot of dramas is how one of the main (usually the Top/ more masculine figure) is always in control of everything. It'd be too long to explain but I'm sure some people know what I'm talking about. Here, it's not the case. Mahasamut is just some simple guy who goes along with the situation, and Tongrak tries to be in control but in the end they're always on the same level. So for me, it was not toxic, and that's very refreshing. Still, I found it weird how everyone (Rak, his mother, Connor, Prin) had a relationship with someone they initially paid for. Not sure that paying for love is such a common thing in Thailand, yet they treated it as if it was super normal.

I'll finish by saying that I was surprised that most people didn't like this drama, cuz out of all the thai dramas I've watched this is the only one I would recommend to someone even if it was not perfect. I'll keep watching new ones in hope to find gold.

The best actor in this is Khun Shy...who's a turtle

I have literally no idea why people like this show as much as they do.

It's the story of a Diew, a deeply odd looking, and let's be honest, selfish introvert (who bafflingly has decided to do the one thing that can make a Thai guy stand out which is dye his hair a bizarre blondy orange colour) beginning a relationship with God, the attractive but ultimately dull guy who lives next door who clearly cannot drum even though they've cast him as a drummer.

That's it.

The theme song was good the first few times I heard it, but as the series has gone on and it is the only song that has ever featured, it's become increasingly boring.

Diew's mum is a dick, his grandad is well meaning but does little to help, and his ex-boyfriend is a prick vet with no lips who apologises for what he did years ago, but fails to mention that he tried to sabotage Diew's new relationship literally the day before. God's friends are mostly annoying and it would be hard to care less about Beer and Wan's relationship after what I can only describe as one of the more woeful, awkward, and frankly terrible kisses I've ever seen in a BL.

The acting is terrible across the board, the script is cringey, and the MC's have zero chemistry. The one star I gave this show is for God without a shirt on, which was admittedly a very enjoyable experience, but the two or three times it happens do not make this series worth watching.

I dragged myself through ten episodes only to come to the realisation that I don't care. I don't care if the MC's stay together, I don't care if God's friends start dating, and I don't care if his grandad dies. I just hope that the turtle gets a better tank as he's been desperately trying to escape from his prison for 10 episodes. Which is a fitting metaphor for this show. I'm now breaking free, and I pray that Khun Shy manages the same.

It was.. alright.

I started watching this back in March 2024 and JUST finished it yesterday. Tbh, I stopped watching it because I got a little bored. I gave this a chance because I adored the main leads in previous dramas like FL in Celebrity and ML in True Beauty. I’ve never read the whole Webtoon, just an episode and that was it. It looked interesting from the start but it really didn’t pull me in the way I hoped. The main leads were super cute. That’s a given. They portrayed their roles well. Okay, maybe the FL only, in my opinion. Honestly, Cha Eun Woo was way better in True Beauty. At least I saw more of his acting skills there. He needs to work more on his craft and hopefully he could get more different roles in the future. I agree with the people that he has the same cookie cutter roles. I want to see him act differently. Maybe a villain next time, you know? I’m afraid he’s stuck with the Webtoon only characters and that’s not good for his career. I enjoyed the FL’s family, and Yul, the ML’s nephew. The supporting cast did an awesome job for making me laugh. I enjoyed the FL’s fashion style as well. FL’s dog form was super cute. Can’t miss that. Another great thing were the kisses. Now that’s how a couple should kiss! No dead fish kisses here. A yay for that. Now let’s talk a out Bo-gyeom, the mountain god. He’s supposed to be a SMART mountain spirit. His character irritated me so much. At first I liked him, but when I found out what he was really like and how he wanted revenge, I was like wait, what?? NO. WAY. How did he NOT see what really happened? Give me a break. How stupid and selfish of him to give FL’s family a curse and then at the end he disappears like it was nothing?? No apologies or whatsoever. What a POS. You can’t change my mind about him. What a horrible person. I found myself skipping the parts whenever he was in it. I had to skip the repetitive memories of their past lives. It was just too much. With that one episode with the epilogue at the end, I thought it was over. Then I remembered there was a total of 14 episodes. Bring in more chaos to the mix. The more, the merrier, right? I heard that the show’s episode was posted like once a week and there were postponements as well. I don’t blame them, I’d probably drop it too. I can’t really stop you from watching it, but do give it a try if you still want to watch it.

My Demon. My review.

Soo Good. Loved every episode.
It is a somewhat unique story line of fated Loves and the trials faced to be together all interlaced with a few mysteries from past and present for our characters.
The whole cast is amazing from main leads to our villian(s) to the supporting charaters. The visuals of Song Kang & Kim You-Hung are well matched in every scene. Amazing soundtrack!

slow paced with lots of miscommunication between lead couple

This one started out good but ended up going down hill for me. I was interested in the storyline and had continued to watch because I wanted to see what happened when everything about Dongjus mother came out. it was slow paced and drawn out with lots of miscommunications. Suwans actions never seemed to make sense to me and by the time it was over I didn’t really feel connected to the characters or cared if they found their way to one another. I did think the storyline between Haeju and Teddy was cute. I also have a friend who really liked this one but it didn’t work out for me.

Ever watch Mad Max

I enjoy Weir's work and I enjoyed the previous Bangkok breaking. I was expecting this to be a sequel with a new story, but instead I got Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome comes to Thailand. It was hard to follow the plot and the reasoning why the chain of events were started in the first place, as if there were deleted scenes.

The Lost and Lonly Ones

This is a story about friendship, family, and an over all feel of being lost... as well as probably shows two of the most lonly boys in all of dramaland.

Yep lost and lonley ones... While I do have some issues with the make up that I otherwise realry notice most of the filming has some pretty decent quality and shots. The monologs and dialog of this drama say alot less than the gazes, mimcs, light and slow mo angles filmed. You could probably watch this with nieter subtitles or sound without loosing the ffel of the story or feeling the leas bit lost. You may even find yourself enjoying it even more (not that I tieied) .

If you are in the mood for something that will make you feel all warm and fizzy inside, this may make you smile once or twice bit the over all feel to it is kind of depressing, and more of a feel things than feel good type of deal.

A decent watch leaving you wanting more and wondering was this all they had to tell or will there be a second season?

If you loved the 1st season, you're gonna love this one too!

Don't expect too much! The 2nd season doesn't really offer more than the 1st, the casting is still good, the action is even better now, but the story is still average at best!

What I loved about the 1st season is missing from here, and that's the time period. Even tho, I loved the first season more, I think the second one deserve the same score, because it's not worst, it's just nothing new.

Honestly, when I first heard the new season will take place in the present, I already knew how it's gonna end and what's gonna happen, and I was right. From start to finish, it was predictable. This is like a typical Marvel movie, average, BUT enjoyable and fun, but you won't think about it too much after you finished it.

I think the big problem with the series is that they have a fascinating story with a meaningful message, but just like in every blockbuster movie, they don't really care about that, it's more about the action than the meaning behind the story. They talk about the importance of life and stuff, but don't really show it to us.

Sohee and Seojoon are still amazing, what you can see is an acting masterclass, but I'm not sure if this show can offer more.

Also, I didn't like the ending. I mean, if we will get a 3rd season, I don't get why they had to finish Chae Ok and Tae Sang's story like that, because it's obvious what's gonna happen to them in the next season.

Not to mention the cliffhanger. Honestly, I'm intrigued how they would handle a story like that, but after watching 2 seasons, I'm not sure if I want to see it with the same writer.

Anyway, like I said, if you liked the 1st season, the 2nd won't disappoint you, probably, but if you want more from a show than average with good action scenes, then you have to watch something else!

repetiu a primeira temporada

After the chapter 2, what?

A transporting story into the comic. Good casting with descent acting. A main actor with a specific amazing face whose ability in love scenes hadn't been appeared. A good plot in general. But what's going to happen when the author (Youke) finishes the chapter 2 of her comic? Is the prince going to die again and be separated? It would be nice to return both of them in the modern world...

Really, who is he monster? Society or us?

When I started watching the movie I didn't know what I was going to find. In fact, I didn't understand anything, why Minato started behaving strangely? Why did he tell his mother that he had the head of a pig? Whether his teacher was good or not? I didn't know what was happening in front of me but then I realized where the movie was going.

Let's say that the movie is divided into 3 visions, that of Minato and Yori, that of the teacher and the present. With the teacher's vision, it was there that I understood what a pig's head means, since the teacher, when he goes to Yori's house to find out what was happening, His father tells him "that he has a pig's head, that he is a monster and not a human and that he is trying to make his son "normal".

At first you are left as the teacher "What the hell is this man saying?", the pieces begin to fit when Minato's mother tells him that his father only wanted him to have one. "normal family" and an enlightening talk with the school principal makes you put together all the pieces of the puzzle, since he confesses to her that he likes someone but he can't be with that person he loves and also fulfill his mother's wish. In these three visions, you realize why Minato acted the way he acted and it wasn't that he was crazy or something, it was just that he, mainly, was at first denied his sexuality and this is seen when Yori wants to hug him and he pushes him away very hard. and Yori tells him that he understands.

At first everything seems very normal, two children playing, nothing more, but the further you go you see how dark the matter is. And I say this because when Minato goes to visit Yori he tells him that "he is cured" but moments later, before Minato leaves, half saddened, Yori tells him that he lied to him and he still has a pig brain and that's when his father takes him inside and begins to beat him, a beating that Minato hears but cannot do anything about.

Minato hasn't seen Yori for days and despite the typhoon, he goes in search of Yori and there he finds him in a bathtub, where clearly Yori's father wanted to kill him. As best he can, Minato goes to the shelter, the shelter that they had built (where they could be happy without the prejudices of others and be together). Meanwhile, the teacher, upon reviewing his students' work, realized that Minato had written his name along with Yori's, where he realized everything, he was going to apologize to Minato for having misunderstood him with Typhon, Yori's mother. Minato is angry with him but the teacher asks her to listen to him, as he has something to show him. From there, regardless of the typhoon, they go to look for Minato.

At first you think "they have been saved from the typhoon" but that is not the case. There is a celestial gate that could not be opened at one moment, but in their astral field that celestial gate no longer exists and they are seen running, happy. But they are clearly dead.

What Koreeda presents to us is a harsh and sad reality, if you go outside of the normal or "common" you are seen in society as a sick person (there is the metaphorical "pig's head"), an abnormal or even a monster. People who like people of the same sex can tell you clearly that the supposed "diversity" is a lie. Even I who have "normal tastes" (and I put it in quotes ironically) can tell you that I have seen how they are constantly discriminated against, their relatives do not accept them because they believe that they are sick, beaten, or even driven to the extreme of suicide.

Minato was clearly raised in a macho environment, where there are things or greetings that only "real men" do, while Yori likes "girly things" and is severely beaten by his father to "make him normal", when clearly you see that he is abnormal and has a big mental problem.

Here Koreeda does not call us "monster" because he considers children to be one. He does it on purpose, so that the viewer asks questions about who the real monsters are. Putting us at a crossroads and breaking all our beliefs. Clearly I know that children are completely normal and the abnormal ones were the adults. Not them.

I don't have that many beliefs about myself, so I totally believe in the book alberdrio. Everyone likes what they like, period. But there are a lot of people out there who don't think the way I am and I'm aware of that. In fact, when the other day I was choosing a bracelet for my father, my boyfriend told me "this is for women" and I told him "maybe there are things for men or women?"

Perhaps it may seem painful to many that they have died, but seeing their Panorama I think the only thing that would free them would be death. Since they could be free without ties from society or prejudices. The children acted very well for being children. Everyone acted very well and the cinematography is beautiful and clearly showed the children's dark moments as well as when they were happy.

And the message and the metaphors are beautiful. Although it is very sad, it is a reality.

Koreeda gives an invitation to reflect on the world we live in, our beliefs or values, even the values of our parents.

Great actors. Good music. Okay story.

Loved the actors/acting and loved the music. The story/plot was their weakest point but it's not bad. I thought it was okay. Just needs some work. The actors and the music are what bumps this from an 'okay' series to to a 'good' one for me.

● REVIEW
-------------------------------------------

LIKES:
--The OST is very nice. I've always been a fan of the music SUKFILM uses and how they enhance the emotions of the scenes. Hopefully they release the soundtracks list soon.
--The actors and acting is also very good. I enjoy the chemistry and acting a lot.
--This relates back to the actors and acting. Although I may not agree with certain actions or allowing certain actions to happen, at the very least, I could understand the characters' emotions due to how well they were portrayed
--Although Dae Young cheated on Min Ji, at the very least, he confessed right away after it happened instead of hiding it. That's kind of a low bar, but I'm willing to give them some credit for that. They could've dragged that out or lie to her some more, but they didn't.
--The series was short enough that there wasn't really anything that made me feel annoyed or bored. I think the length worked in its favor in that aspect. Although, I also wouldn't mind a longer series for more character/plot development.

DISLIKES:
--I don't mind cheating in plots. However, when the same character cheats more than once, it becomes hard to root for the character or become attached to them, especially when it is a main character. It's hard to like a series when you can't sympathize with a character because they let the same mistakes repeat. I'm not taking too much points away for this as the acting/emotions during those kiss scenes with the ex were done well.
--Initially, the story sets up the friendship as being very important to Jeong Ha, but it didn't feel like such a big deal when we never saw Min Ji again. We could've focus on the friendship more and maybe the guys trying to reach out to Min Ji after the fallout. Instead, we just moved on to the next plot about the ex, making it seem like preserving the 10 year friendship was not really that important.
--There are some extended kiss scenes/dialogue that are behind a paywall. I'm not actually taking points away for this, but I felt the need to mention it as a dislike =P

-------------------------------------------
● NOTE
-------------------------------------------

I'll always conclude my review by saying that ratings and reviews is not really a indicator of whether you may enjoy something. We all have different criteria and standards. Don't let a bad rating, review, or comment discourage you from watching something. My advice will always be to give something a chance if the premise interests you, and only use the ratings/reviews to determine priority if you have a list, or if you're deciding if you want to continue it due to time limitations.

♥ Thanks for reading my review! Feel free to comment or hit me up if you want to discuss anything ♥
