A Lukewarm Mess

To start with, I've read the novel and I liked it. It was angsty in a good way. Here, like a lot of c-drama adaptations, everything seems dull. Like that stage where something is about to boil over but never does. I understand that drama/movie adaptations make necessary changes but this one changed the plot completely, and not in a good way.

In the novel, the FL starts from being a timid, underqualified newbie to a confident young woman who excels professionally and has a substantial personal growth. The relationship between them starts by just being casual sex, with her being young and naive, and him exploiting the fact that she liked him, and later grew to love him. He wanted to keep it a secret. He never gave her security. So, her actions like signing up for the date night to help her friend seems ok, because she assumes, and he lets her, that he had other women. And so the fall-out and break-up also makes sense because he was always vocal about not wanting a real relationship (though he had changed his mind) and she felt neglected and inadequate.

But the drama changed this completely. Here, the ML wants to be open about their relationship while she keeps it a secret. She always treats him like a stranger but I can't empathise with her because here it's her that's toxic. Aside from the dominating nature of the ML, I found him perfectly reasonable, especially when it seems the FL never introduces him as her bf and goes on dates, while privately being lovey-dovey. On top of all this, despite it being over 4 years since they got together, she looks physically repulsed and ducks away every time he comes close. Maybe this is to make her seem innocent but it's just icky and makes him look like he's harassing her. I heard they had an intimacy co-ordinator, but ig that was for nothing.

Reason I dropped: The plot was already a mess. They simply took scenes from the novel but changed the whole narrative, yet still expected the FL to be the innocent victim of the uncaring ML, when it's exactly that they changed. The newbie was supposed to be a competition to her, to make the FL insecure. Then when they visit her at her project, the ML is supposed to deny the FL to present a creative work she worked hard on, and have the newbie grab that opportunity. This causes major angst and a fall-out, which is later amplified when the FL is passed over for a promotion in favor of the newbie due to nepotism. Then, due to the ML's previous actions, the FL wrongfully assumes he also favored the other girl and then she walks out. Now the drama shows a whole different story. In order to show the FL's competence, she's the one that does this whole thing successfully. So, the layout for later conflict is not there. Yet, she somehow makes a comment about him spending time with the newbie. Without any context. The drama feels like it's missing a whole chunk of whatever story it has.

Coming to the leads, Jing Boran is so effortlessly good. He embodies the ML in every way. Otoh, Sun Qian is bland, and painfully so when paired with capable actors. I like Sun Qian. And because she's an acting graduate, I expect a lot from her. But she's not expressive. Just slight widening of eyes, pouting and smiling. Everything seems skin deep. She has a beautiful tall, model-esque structure that's very ill-suited for whatever baby-ish acting she's trying to do here. It simply doesn't seem believable.

So that's it. I'm dropping this. I see that a lot of people like this, so I hope y'all have a pleasant watch.

Fluffy Puppy Love with unnecessary overused tropes acting as plot guidelines

Liang Si Wei smiles with his entire being. He is the personification of "megawatt smile" or "a smile that brightens a room." The version i watched missed the first couple of minutes but I got the overused trope-based concept of kidnapping and then being ignored by the current male lead. Honestly, the show didnt need it. The two leads did very well creating, developing, and then nurturing that love. Despite it not technically being her first love, this was very much a puppy/first love drama that will leave you smiling at the very end. I'm so gonna get wrinkles/smile lines. Totally worth it though.

Strong beginning but underwhelming in the end

Let me start with a good part. I thought the main romance was one of the most realistic ones I've seen on any cdramas or k-dramas. You didn't have that childish thing you see in most of them, where if somebody even accidentally touches hands, they act like they're going to get married. It was an adult romance with real feelings and really good chemistry.

Unfortunately the whole thing dragged too long and there was only so much they could keep repeating the same dilemma of whether she would stay in her hometown with him, or go back to Shanghai for work.

And the weirdest thing is that in the end they just kind of ignored that main dilemma. They ended up getting together, she stays in Shanghai, he stays in his hometown, and we're supposed to believe that this thing that was an insurmountable problem was magically not an issue anymore. So it felt really unresolved.

Overall I still liked it but it was kind of underwhelming in the end.

“See You Later... Maybe” is such a beautiful drama, and Tian Jia Rui’s performance is one of the biggest reasons it feels so memorable. He has this remarkable ability to make his character feel completely real—every emotion, every expression, and even the smallest gestures feel natural and genuine.

What I especially love about his acting is that he doesn’t simply play the character; he makes you forget that you’re watching an actor. You feel the character’s emotions, struggles, warmth, and vulnerability as if they’re happening right in front of you. His expressions speak even when he says nothing, and that kind of subtle acting takes real skill.

Tian Jia Rui truly brings depth and life to the story. His performance is natural, nuanced, and emotionally captivating. He’s definitely an actor with incredible potential, and I’m excited to see him take on more challenging roles in the future. ❤️✨

A drama worth watching, especially if you want to appreciate an actor who knows how to make a fictional character feel real. 👏🎭

"it's my fault. without me he could've gone to heaven." and that's when i knew i was cooked😭
gorgeous movie, which in my opinion, had a really captivating setting of the time period it was placed in. the cinematography and overall color of the movie really added to the overall mood as you watched birdy & jia-han go through well.. what they were going through.
the story was actually less heart-wrenching than i expected it to be and felt weirdly realistic, both of them struggled with communication so much, which isn't entirely their fault considering the mindset and social stigma at the time. both of their actors were great however they looked extremely similar ...😭 like SO similar until jia-han grew his hair out.
i always appreciate a movie where a major conflict is religion for lgbt characters. something about defying religious expectations or 'breaking rules'... it really appeals to me and im not sure why.
overall i did really enjoy the movie and the story, and the acting was so, so good. but there wasn't anything about i think will stay with me for the rest of my life.

A 10/10 Ride I’d Happily Take Again

10/10 from start to finish. Pull Strings has officially earned a spot on my very short list of dramas I would actually rewatch—and that's saying something because my rewatch list is tiny.

Let's be honest, the basic premise isn't exactly new. We've seen the whole “person from the present gets transported to another world” storyline before. But here's the thing: it's the characters that make this one special.

The ML is strong, smart, and incredibly likable, while the FL is every bit his equal. Both characters have so much personality and so many different layers that I couldn't help but get attached to them. They're animated, entertaining, and just plain fun to watch.

And the humor? I loved it! The script is genuinely clever, and the production team deserves serious kudos for putting together a story that's both entertaining and unpredictable.

Just when you think you've finally figured out where the story is going, the script pulls the rug out from under you and sends you in a completely different direction. And instead of feeling frustrated, I found myself laughing, surprised, and thinking, “Okay, you got me again!”

It's basically a roller coaster disguised as a C-drama—and I was happy to stay on for the entire ride.

The story may not be the most original concept, but the execution, characters, humor, and writing make all the difference. Pull Strings kept me entertained from beginning to end, and honestly, I wouldn't mind pulling those strings all over again.

Divertido programa y desafiante tema

Personalmente tengo interés por el senderismo, y he tenido la oportunidad de realizarlo algunas veces, aun así no sé la respuesta exacta a la pregunta que plantea el programa, pero sin duda pienso que vale la pena experimentar el senderismo al menos una vez.

Mas que ser un plan divertido, es un plan desafiante, que puede llegar a gustar a ciertas personas.

No me hubiera imaginado antes que habría un programa de este tema y que disfrutaría verlo, pero me resulto muy divertido, la producción fue buena y las cuatro celebridades elegidas lograron tener una química fresca y entretenida, solo conocía a Car, the garden y Chaemin, pero este programa me hizo descubrir a Tarzzan y Dowon. Sin duda quien mas me hizo reír fue Dowon.

Ademas, quiero añadir que me encanto la banda sonora, al terminar el programa busque la playlist debido a que me gusta descubrir canciones o artistas nuevos, así que lo disfrute. También por supuesto escuche canciones de los artistas que protagonizaron el programa ya que no conocía sus canciones.

El programa no nos vende lo ideal de escalar, nos muestra la realidad, la dificultad, momentos divertidos y el compromiso de las personas que se plantean realizar este deporte. Disfrute verlo.

A killer premise that never delivered the blow.

I finished Mr. Kill and unfortunately the finale was a letdown. What should have been the culmination of a dark and suspenseful crime thriller never built the intensity I was waiting for. Instead, it was filled with more of the same missteps that bothered me throughout the series.

The premise was actually very good…an artist whose drawings eerily resemble the work of a serial killer, making him a suspect himself. There was so much potential for paranoia, psychological darkness and suspense. But somewhere along the way, I found myself questioning the writing more than questioning who the killer was. And yes…the murderer became rather obvious. Sometimes you just have to follow your gut.

But the finale really tested my suspension of disbelief. You kidnap a police officer and nobody thinks to search him for a gun? After everything these characters supposedly planned? And Praew kidnaps and somehow there seems to be remarkably no consequence for what she did? Earlier we had someone being shot in broad daylight by the river, the gun casually handed to a henchman despite fingerprints…and again I was expected to simply accept it. I can believe corruption. I can believe powerful people manipulating investigations. But the story still has to give me something believable to manipulate.

The performances unfortunately never compensated for the weaknesses in the writing. Dew, Tee and Off had characters that should have given us vulnerability, frustration, manipulation and darkness, but I rarely felt the intensity these roles demanded. Too often I felt I was watching actors playing characters rather than people actually living them. The supporting characters were equally fragmented…much like the storyline itself.

For big fans of these actors, I can understand enjoying Mr. Kill. They certainly have the looks and there are moments of chemistry. But from my own experience watching darker crime and psychological dramas, good looks can only take me so far. I needed to feel danger. I needed that uncomfortable darkness that makes you suspicious of everyone and keeps you glued to the screen. Most importantly, by the finale I needed suspense…and I never got it.

A thriller can mislead me, surprise me and even make me believe the unbelievable…but first it has to create a world believable enough for me to get lost in it.

GMMTV…please do better. You had a killer premise. Unfortunately, Mr. Kill never quite delivered the killing blow.

Usually, BL series kick off with light, sweet, and fluffy tropes before diving into the heavy drama, but this series hits you with heart-wrenching emotional damage right from episode two! I honestly went in thinking it might carry a vibe similar to Love in the Moonlight, but the tragedy and sheer emotional weight here cut so much deeper.

This was my first time seeing Ongsa and Inn sharing the screen together, and their dynamic definitely caught my attention. In fact, during the early episodes, I was genuinely convinced Ongsa was actually Poom! I had to pause the show multiple times, squinting at the screen to figure out where they differed, but I could barely spot anything. Aside from minor differences in age and weight, they look and feel almost identical. From their facial features and visual presence to their acting rhythm and overall delivery. Every single time Prince Tinn called out Phob's name, I was hit with an overwhelming wave of deja vu, immediately reminding me of Joe calling for Ming. I couldn't unsee it! lol

At first, I really thought OneD was finally going to be bold enough to commit to a gut-wrenching, tragic sad ending for a major BL project, but alas, they pulled back at the finish line. (Sorry for the slight spoiler!) They set up all the emotional stakes for a devastatingly poetic climax, only to play it safe when it counted most.

Unexpectedly good

Someone recommended this to me, and honestly, the title wasn’t something that made me curious or excited to watch it. 😂 But one day, I had nothing else to watch, so I gave it a try.

Who would’ve thought that this 13-minute-per-episode series would be something I’d actually love?!

At first, I really thought this was just going to be soft porn, kinky, and full of unnecessary NC scenes. Yeah... I was wrong. 😂 Despite the episodes being so short, the depth this series wanted to give is actually there.

Basically, it’s about a relationship between two people with a huge age gap. And before anyone throws the “grooming” argument, no. It’s not. They’re both mature adults, and no one is being groomed here. Okay, back to the review. 😂

The age gap is actually one of the things I liked about this series because it shows both the benefits of having this kind of connection and, at the same time, the realities and challenges they have to face together.

So yeah, it’s really not just a cute little series. It touches on so many relationship dynamics, and I honestly didn’t expect it to have this much depth given how short each episode is.

And should I even question their chemistry?! Because HELLO??? 😂 The comedy, romance, and everything in between are balanced so well that I never found it cringe.

I really thought I was just going to watch this because I had nothing else to watch, but now look at me actually loving it. 😭

A Brilliant Crime Thriller With Outstanding Performances ❤️

Secret Forest is one of those K-dramas that completely pulls you into its world and refuses to let go. I absolutely loved the storyline, the mystery, the suspense, and the way the drama slowly reveals its secrets while keeping you guessing. The writing is intelligent and mature, and every investigation, conversation, and twist feels like it actually matters. It never feels like a thriller that is rushing to give you answers, and that made the entire experience even more satisfying.

Bae Doona was absolutely fantastic as Han Yeo-jin! I loved her character so much, and honestly, I have loved Bae Doona in every K-drama I have seen her in. She has this incredible ability to make her characters feel natural, strong, intelligent, and emotionally believable at the same time. Her chemistry with Cho Seung-woo was also one of my favorite parts of the drama. She brought so much personality and warmth to the otherwise serious atmosphere, and I could honestly watch her in almost anything.

This was actually my first K-drama with Cho Seung-woo in a leading role, and what a first impression! His portrayal of Hwang Si-mok was absolutely brilliant. The character is so different from the usual drama protagonists, and Cho Seung-woo plays him with such control and subtlety that I became completely invested in him. His expressions, his quiet intensity, and the way he approaches every situation made Hwang Si-mok incredibly fascinating to watch. After this drama, I completely understood why Cho Seung-woo is so highly regarded as an actor.

What I loved most about Secret Forest was how much more it offered than just a murder investigation. Beneath the thriller and suspense are so many emotions, relationships, moral questions, corruption, trust, and complicated human choices. The atmosphere is serious and gripping, the performances are phenomenal, and the story kept my attention from beginning to end. Bae Doona and Cho Seung-woo were both incredible, and together they made this drama something truly special. Definitely one of those K-dramas that stays in your mind even after you finish it. Absolutely loved it! ❤️

The Sexy Buttocks was not that sexy...at least for me.

This was well acted. The actors made their roles come to life and believable. Other than their actual meeting and getting together, the only other part that was fairly interesting was their immediate family's responses. There was no real reason to be invested in this. It puttered along with all the quirks and eccentricies of each partner and that was it. There was no spark that said, yes they were the it couple. Meant to be. Or maybe it just wasn't for me. Personally, the age difference was believably depicted. I will give it that but I've seen other age gap series that were more enjoyable and cuter. Another thing, the poster did this series no favors. Probably, it was Ainosuke's mouse like features that irked me. Anyway, it is what it is.

I will not dissuade anyone from at least one watch.
