There is nothing scary at all in this series

The plot of this series is quite interesting. The visuals are beautiful and grand, and the CGI is excellent. Unfortunately, they added so many extra elements that the plot became disappointing, boring, and lacking in interest, and the overall story turned into a complete mess.

Many of the actors did a good job. Nam Joohyuk looks really cool in this role whenever he’s in the underworld. Roh Yoonseo is very beautiful and cute here, but her acting in this drama confuses me a little. In some scenes she performs very well, while in others she comes across as stiff, emotionless, and as if she’s just reciting lines. The underworld itself is vague and complicated — they don’t really explain much about it. What I really dislike is that almost none of the villains face any consequences for their past actions. It’s like Gu Cheon and Saeng Gang are stopping the evil spirits just to protect characters who are even worse. The only scenes I actually liked were the fight against the shaman’s guardian spirit, the ancient spirit scene, and the protagonist’s little spirit pet — that one was cute.

Overall, this series has an interesting plot, beautiful visuals, and excellent CGI. If you’re a fan of Nam Joohyuk, you can definitely watch it because he looks really cool in the underworld scenes. Roh Yoonseo is also very beautiful and cute. However, the story is messy, boring, and disappointing, with a lack of consequences for the villains. And most importantly, there is nothing scary at all in this series.

A shop for killers Season 2

Well season 1 for much better (or it is nostalgia) but I still like it a lot and it is still 10/10 of drama (once again either nostalgia or this amazing acting). My main problem was that as far as I was so f...cking hyped for it, I started watching after Love sync which I loved and have not fully moved on - so bad timing. But as I stated before acting for so freaking good - Lee Dong Wook and Kim Hye Jun were amazing,.
LDW actions scenes were top tier. Well all in all we knew he would give amazing performance
KHJ - why she lost so many people close to her?!! poor girl, but she carried. I can totally see her playing Park Bo Young's younger sister.
Jung Yun Ha - she was amazing as a villain, she annoyed me and I was waiting for her ending.
Everybody acted perfectly - and that alone deserves a high rating.
LDW and KHJ relationship reminded me of Joel&Ellie from The last of us (in general it reminded me a little about it, minus zombies) which for sure make me like it more.
All in all, I like season 1 more but this one was also really amazing.

Di Saat Kita Mulai Mencintai Diri Sendiri, Kita Baru Bisa Mencintai Orang Lain Dengan Sepenuh Hati

🌻Alur ceritanya memuaskan. Tbh, untuk yang gak expect tinggi, drama ini sangat oke karena wow eksekusinya sangat mantap. Ga ada scene bertele-tele, tapi di beberapa momen bikin aku bosen, bikin aku berpikir, apa sebaiknya scene itu better dipotong aja. Seperti scene orang tuanya Ziqi terlalu banyak, scene Ziqi yang terlalu protektif dengan jiejienya terlalu banyak. Lalu di episode 2 terakhir, kenapa endingnya harus begitu(?) re-loopnya kenapa banyak sekali dan kenapa open endingnya cuma sampai di situ? Kalau dibuat versi modern di season 2, sebagai opening menurutku bagus. Tapi sayangnya sudah ada drama Moonlight, dengan cerita serupa namun tak sama.

🌻Scene favorit:
• Saat Ziqi & Miao Miao terperangkap di dunia terbalik kala melawan iblis air. Pertama kalinya ikatan rambut Ziqi terlepas. Momen yang membuatku langsung jatuh cinta dengan drama ini, ditambah dengan senandung ost yang mendukung adegan sedih ini 😭
• Kata-kata penyemangat yang disampaikan Miao Miao saat sedang bermain bambu terbang, berhasil membuat Ziqi yang terbelenggu pada masa lalunya akhirnya mulai berani dan percaya diri melangkah ❤️
• Ternyata Ziqi adalah karakter dari penulisnya itu sendiri. Ia membuat cerita ini semua karena cintanya pada Miao Miao. Kata-kata yang Ziqi sampaikan ❤️
• Aku sangat menyukai kalimat terakhir pada 100% level cinta Ziqi terhadap Miao Maio. Mengingatkan kita bahwa sebelum mencintai orang lain dengan sepenuh hati, mencintai dan menerima dirimu sendiri terlebih dahulu adalah suatu hal yang sering luput dari pikiran kita. Kamu baru bisa mencintai orang lain 100%, jika kamu juga mencintai dirimu sendiri ❤️

🌻OST
Soundtracknya easy listening dan liriknya, aku sangat suka. (Ester Yu - Surge), liriknya sangat menggambarkan bagaimana Miao Miao memberikan semangat dan harapan kepada Ziqi. (Ding Yuxi - Stare Intently), aku selalu mau nangis tiap lagu ini diputar 😭 sangat menggambarkan perjuangan hidup Ziqi yang penuh kepedihan namun juga sangat dicintai.

🌻Rewatch?
9/10. Aku pasti akan rewatch lagi suatu hari nanti. Mungkin tidak dalam waktu dekat. Karena episode di drama ini juga cukup banyak.

Grande immensa delusione

Questo era uno dei drama che aspettavo di più. Cast stellare e budget ottimo e per quanto mi riguarda ambientazione storica stupenda, insomma aveva tutte le carte in regola per poter essere uno dei cdrama dell'anno. Peccato che non ha rispettato le aspettative ma è addirittura una grandissima ciofeca cosa che non mi sarei mai aspettata. Io per la mia sanità mentale ho deciso di dropparlo perchè non voglio perdere tempo con qualcosa che non mi soddisfi, anche se ammetto che ero parecchio indecisa perchè per certi aspetti volevo vedere dove andassero a parare e perchè ritengo che adesso del potenziale che però è stato sprecato. Purtroppo secondo me non lavorano bene sia sceneggiatura che regia, soprattutto la regia a volte fa delle scelte molto discutibili e direi pessime. Un peccato perchè in alcune scene la regia mi è anche piaciuta ma in altre era davvero orrenda. Zhang Linghe e Wang Churan (tra l'altro adoro lei) secondo me stanno davvero bene insieme e hanno fatto un buon lavoro ma hanno risentito anche loro della scarsità della trama e regia.
Le cose che non ho amato della sceneggiatura sono i drammi esagerati e le dinamiche poco verosimili e sensate.
Che peccato davvero...

Slice of Life with a Side of Mystery

The story is very slow. As one reviewer noted, the plot is largely flat, focusing instead on the slow-burn relationship between the main characters. While Ye Li’s revenge and the Lishan Mountain storyline exist, they remain in the background of the romance, their everyday lives, and court politics.

Points to Note
1. The arc with the Cangbei princess, her cross-dressing romance, and the maid felt like drawn-out filler. A long-winded way to bring Mo Jingli back into the picture

2. Ye Li's sister, Ye Ying, I didn't care much for her largely because I am averse to spoiled characters who feel like they are owed something. But if her story teaches us anything, it's never to love anyone more than you love or value yourself and your safety. I am glad she didn't lose her life at the hands of or because of that man and his enemies.

3. The story loses its momentum once the divorce happens. It is already a slow drama to begin with, but once this arc hits, everything feels like it's moving at a snail's pace. I will say, I watched episodes 37–40 at 1.5x speed to finish it.
PS. I did enjoy the Lishan arc that happened in the midst of all this. While she is basically miraculously cured after being forced to confront the trauma, I enjoyed seeing Ye Li's mental health issues brought to the forefront.

Final Thoughts:
I was able to finish this because I wanted something slower. Something to help me fall asleep at night (slice of life dramas/movies/anime do that to me). Had I had different expectations, I'd have dropped it

Romance? No, Thriller.

Ho atteso questo drama per mesi, così come tutti i precedenti lavori del mio attore coreano preferito, Namgoong Min. Lo dico perché si capisca quanto fossero alte le mie aspettative. Mi aspettavo un apporto ben dosato di romance e thriller ma, a conti fatti, posso dire di aver ottenuto solo il secondo: un buon thriller psicologico con l’aggiunta di una profonda riflessione sulle difficili dinamiche coniugali, ma che è cosa ben diversa dall’idea di romance.

TRAMA – Dodici episodi che affrontano la singolare situazione del protagonista, Kang Tae Ju, quotato neurochirurgo che lavora nell’ospedale del suocero e che si trova all’improvviso a vivere l’incubo peggiore: sua moglie, Ko Se Yun, con la quale il matrimonio è ormai in frantumi, viene rapita da un misterioso aggressore la stessa notta in cui le chiede il divorzio, trasformandolo quindi nel sospettato numero uno. Complice l’approccio superficiale e cieco della polizia, agli occhi della quale lui è evidentemente già catalogato come colpevole, Tae Ju si trasforma in un fuggiasco determinato a salvare la moglie e a riabilitare il suo nome. Una corsa contro il tempo tra inseguimenti serrati e fughe rocambolesche, alle quali si alternano flashback che rivelano le crepe del matrimonio tra i due protagonisti, in primis la morte della figlioletta Ha Yun. La lista dei sospettati cambierà di continuo ad ogni nuovo tassello aggiunto da Tae Ju al quadro generale, scoprendo parallelamente azioni illecite condotte dall’ospedale.

Il finale è stato tra gli aspetti che più ho apprezzato, e che mi ha anche commossa. Assicurati i colpevoli alla giustizia, rimaneva da concludere il complicato rapporto tra i due coniugi: una riappacificazione sarebbe suonata forzata, un addio definitivo avrebbe reso inutile tutto l’iter vissuto dai due nel corso della vicenda. Ho trovato corretta la scelta consapevole e condivisa di non insistere a ricucire un rapporto ormai troppo compromesso, dove anche alla luce delle nuove consapevolezze sarebbe stato comunque permeato dal rimpianto e dai sensi di colpa. Una scelta coraggiosa che si allontana dai lieto fine facili e tradizionali. Il divorzio è stato un atto dovuto per alleggerire il peso che schiacciava entrambi ormai da molto tempo, un voltare definitivamente la pagina che rende più credibile, nel loro ritrovarsi in occasione della commemorazione della figlia, l’approccio più sereno e consapevole. Qualcuno ci leggerà forse la possibilità di un nuovo inizio – opzione lasciata volutamente all’interpretazione dello spettatore – ma io ci ho visto un sentimento ben diverso: due persone che hanno imparato a capirsi quando era ormai troppo tardi, ma che possono finalmente mettere fine insieme – e il come è, paradossalmente, andando ognuno per la propria strada – a un passato che era diventato emotivamente insostenibile per entrambi. La conclusione più realistica e onesta che poteva esserci, insomma.

TEMI PRINCIPALI:
Quello che speravo fosse un vero romance si è rivelato essere piuttosto una riflessione profonda sul significato del matrimonio e sulla delicata fragilità dei legami affettivi. In questo drama il matrimonio viene proposto – né più né meno - come una vera e propria prigione emotiva. In questo senso il titolo della serie suona addirittura ironico: non esiste un “completamento” del matrimonio, ma solo una costante ricerca di equilibrio – o forse sarebbe meglio dire di negoziazione – tra odio e amore, fiducia e tradimento. E’ l’esempio lampante di come un dolore devastante – in questo caso la scomparsa della figlia – possa trasformare due persone che si amano in perfetti (o quasi) sconosciuti. La morte della figlia è l’evento scatenante il dolore, ma la vera crisi è data dal lutto successivo, segnato dal fallimento comunicativo tra i coniugi che ha alla lunga determinato il deterioramento irreversibile del loro matrimonio.
Altra tematica affrontata è quella dell’avidità e della corruzione in ambito sanitario. L’intricata rete di segreti medici e sperimentazioni cliniche che violano i principi etici – dove la vita delle persone ha una sorta di “priorità” in base al loro valore economico – è a tutti gli effetti una chiara critica sociale. Interessante come l’ingiustizia alla base – aver negato a Kim Kyung Ae (moglie e complice del rapitore) le cure di cui necessitava solo perché non era una “sponsor” finanziaria della struttura ospedaliera, abbia poi generato gli eventi a cascata che sono seguiti, portandola a una disperazione tale da sollecitare il suo lato peggiore, quello criminale, che non va giustificato ma la cui dinamica è promossa a monte da una linea di condotta corrotta. In sintesi, potremmo dire che il messaggio che il drama passa è che “l’ingiustizia promuove altra ingiustizia”.

Ultima riflessione, quella sul concetto di mostro. Il drama conta più “cattivi”, tra colpevoli e complici di crimini di varia entità. Alla fine del drama si risale alla mente malvagia che ha innescato l’intera vicenda, mosso dall’invidia e dalla gelosia per i riconoscimenti ottenuti dal collega e che sfrutta quale braccio operativo un uomo disturbato e che accetta – per garantire alla moglie l’operazione in grado di salvarle la vita - di compiere l’omicidio. Uno è il mandante, l’altro l’assassino: quale dei due è il vero “mostro” della storia?

PERSONAGGI
Kang Tae Ju è un uomo di successo dotato di grande acume e correttezza, ma anche estremamente introverso. Lo incontriamo ormai in procinto di chiedere il divorzio, contenuto e misurato nei modi, ma i flashback nel passato inizialmente felice non lo mostrano particolarmente più espansivo, al contrario sembrano definire caratterialmente una figura non dimostra con gesti espansivi tutto l’affetto e le emozioni che vive nel profondo. Particolarmente significativo è il momento in cui, uscito dalla sala operatoria, scopre che la figlia è morta poco dopo essere arrivata in pronto soccorso: il suo è un dolore devastante che resta tuttavia trattenuto, costringendolo a un baratro emotivo interiore incapace di trovare sfogo liberatorio in pianti disperati o grida strazianti. Tae Ju ama intensamente, ma in modo silenzioso. E, nello stesso modo silenzioso, cercare di aiutare le persone a lui care a stare meglio: un approccio che in realtà gli fa più male che bene e lo costringe sopportare pesi che, alla lunga, sembrano finire per schiacciarlo.
Ko Se Yun è una donna che non si è mai ripresa dalla perdita della figlia e che vive una vita con una chiave di lettura parziale, fidandosi di convinzioni che tali non si riveleranno. Ha i suoi punti di riferimento – soprattutto i genitori, dei quali si fida ciecamente – e ha sviluppato nei confronti del marito un sentimento di forte frustrazione e risentimento. Non riesce ad accettare il modo in cui è morta la figlia: a caldo la sua reazione comprensibilmente disperata l’aveva portata a condannare su due piedi il marito per l’assenza e il mancato intervento tempestivo. A questa accusa rimane aggrappata anche dopo, quale strumento di sopravvivenza (incolpare qualcuno, in questo caso Tae Ju, promuove in lei un astio che, quasi come una reazione inconscia, le impedisce di lasciarsi definitivamente andare e crollare di fronte al dolore insopportabile). Una sorta di compromesso inconsapevole per riuscire, con fatica, a sopravvivere. Tolta la questione della scomparsa della figlia, permane una evidente difficoltà comunicativa con Tae Ju: anche dopo che viene fatta luce sul passato, lui continuerà ad essere ermetico e lei al contrario ad aver bisogno di apertura e confronto: un’incompatibilità caratteriale che va oltre i sentimenti e l’amare o non amare – a modo proprio - l’altra persona.
Tra tutti i colpevoli, l’unica figura che davvero si distingue è quella di No Man Hui, in apparenza un insegnante di informatica dal volto bonario ma in realtà capace di uccidere a colpi di martello mentre parla con voce pacata. Una malvagità disturbante, caratterizzata da una calma durante le atrocità che compie che non può non rimanere impressa. Ancora più inquietante è il mostrare momenti in cui sembra ragionare come una persona ordinaria, tipo il mettere il benessere della moglie al primo posto, per la quale è disposto a fare di tutto, un parallelismo non da poco con l’operato di Tae Ju. E’ facile etichettare un mostro come una figura perennemente malvagia, la cui logica è distorta e distante anni luce da quella delle persone “buone”. Eppure qui viene mostrato come anche un mostro ragioni, in altre situazioni, secondo la logica della normalità: così simile a quella della gente comune da risultare decisamente spaventosa.

CAST – Partiamo da lui, il mio mitico Namgoong Min. Come sempre offre una prova di livello, calandosi con meticolosità in quello che è il suo personaggio e sfuggendo alle caratterizzazioni banali: il suo Tae Ju è sì un uomo che si da alla fuga, ma non è un eroe dell’azione, e il realismo viene sostenuto dalle corse che lo lasciano senza fiato, dalle modalità a improvvisate e goffe con cui lotta. E’ un uomo di grande intelletto e astuzia che si trova costretto a un dinamismo a lui poco affine, e si vede… Perché è proprio così che deve essere. Dal punto di vista espressivo, il suo personaggio rappresenta una grande sfida, così come tutti i ruoli che hanno a che fare con figure introverse: riuscire a trasmettere tutto il non detto non è un’abilità da poco, ma in questo Namgoong Min ha dimostrato negli anni di essere davvero superbo. E, anche stavolta, ne ha dato prova per l’ennesima volta.
Lee Seol, già al suo fianco in “Our movie” (seppur lì non nel ruolo di protagonista femminile), non mi ha convinta. Seconda volta che la vedo in un drama – questo e il sopracitato Our Movie – e seconda volta che mi lascia perplessa: la trovo poco convincente, la sua recitazione è da manuale ma mio avviso è come se fosse poco sentita. Mi piacerebbe vederla in ruoli un po’ più amabili, dove potrebbe forse funzionare meglio, perché nel ricoprire figure controverse non riesce a suscitare l’empatia nello spettatore (esperienza ovviamente personale).
Una menzione speciale va a Kim Dae Myung, che veste i panni di Noh Man Hee, il rapitore. L'attore è noto per ruoli gentili e rassicuranti - vedi “Hospital playlist” - si trasforma qui in un villain agghiacciante che in più di una scena riesce a trasmettere un’incredibile inquietudine, dando prova di grande versatilità.

ASPETTI TECNICI – La regia ha saputo fare buon uso degli spazi (spesso stretti e claustrofobici) e delle atmosfere notturne (dominate da ombre e luci deboli) per massimizzare la tensione e accrescere il senso di oppressione. La fotografia supporta questa scelta evidenziando la luminosità degli ambienti ospedalieri in contrasto con il luogo di prigionia estremamente buio e crudo. L’ambientazione sembra riuscire a ribadire in modo efficace l’infelice transizione che sconvolge la vita di Tae Ju: il suo mondo è quello delle sale operatorie e dei laboratori ospedalieri, puliti, luminosi, sicuri, efficienti; di colpo però diventa un fuggiasco braccato dalla polizia, che si muove nel freddo delle notti invernali tra strade deserte, cantieri edili e fabbriche abbandonate. I colori predominanti qui sono le tonalità fredde del blu e del grigio, mentre ai flashback vengono riservate tinte più calde, quasi a ricordare un lontano “effetto seppia”, generalmente associato all’idea di momenti lontani e ormai perduti. Il montaggio garantisce un buon ritmo e assicura al termine di ogni episodio una chiusura di grande impatto, lasciando lo spettatore impaziente di vedere l’episodio successivo.
La colonna sonora è a dir poco variegata e coinvolge generi molto distanti tra loro: le OST spaziano dal rock di Gaho in "The Calling" alla ballata quasi malinconica di Lacuna in "Forever Broken Dreams", senza dimenticare la canzone iniziale, “Runaway”, di Ha Hyun Woo. Nell’insieme riescono a enfatizzare ogni momento andando a toccare, a seconda che si tratti di una scena d’azione o una particolarmente emotiva, il tasto giusto.

IN CONCLUSIONE – E’ un drama sul quale sono stata molto combattuta. Complici le mie aspettative davvero molto alte, un’immagine di copertina e un titolo che continuo a ritenere parecchio fuorvianti e il tag “romantico” che non trovo per nulla adeguato, dopo un paio di episodi lo scontro con la realtà dei fatti è stato un impatto notevole (e spiacevole): non era il drama che mi aspettavo e che avevo aspettato, il romance in senso classico era già dietro alle spalle e il fulcro della vicenda che diventava via via predominante era il tema delle cellule staminali embrionali. Quindi, dopo essere partita super carica, alla fine del terzo o quarto episodio ero così delusa da valutare addirittura di interrompere la visione. Alla fine ho deciso di continuare, rivedendo le mie aspettative, accantonando il sogno del romance e accettando che stavo guardando un buon thriller e che il “completamento” del matrimonio riportato nel titolo non fosse la felicità, bensì l’accettazione della sua fine. Su questa scia sono arrivata fino in fondo, rivalutandolo. Utile è stato il confronto con utenti che non avevano letto a priori la trama ma si erano avventurati nella visione alla cieca e che – di conseguenza – non ne erano rimasti affatto delusi.
Consigliato ma con l’avviso “non è un romance” scritto a lettere cubitali. Fatta questa premessa, è oggettivamente un drama interessante, ben fatto e qualitativamente meritevole.

Messy but good messiness

So, at first, I didn’t really want to watch this series, but I eventually decided to give it a try, and honestly, it wasn’t bad at all. A revenge storyline in a GL is definitely something different, and you can tell that a lot of work went into the story, the production, and the acting. And Arisa and Lalin’s relationship… absolutely insane, but also really interesting to watch.

The plot twist was pretty predictable, but I didn’t really mind it. However, I definitely think the series should have ended at episode 6.

My main issue is the way Arisa’s past was handled. I feel like we were mostly told about what she went through instead of actually being shown it. We got a few flashbacks, but I really wish we had seen more of her suffering and everything that eventually pushed her toward revenge. It would have helped me understand her perspective and maybe even root for her, because personally, I was more on Lalin’s mother’s side.

I also wish we had gotten way more confrontation scenes from Lalin. I found her way too passive considering how serious and messed up the whole situation was. There was so much potential for more intense confrontations between the characters.

Same thing with the assistant and the journalist I really wish their relationship had been developed more.

And as for the relationship between Lalin’s mother and Arisa’s mother: psychiatric hospital. That’s all I’m going to say .

But overall, I still had a good time watching the series.

You Need a Lots of Tissue When Watching!

Road to Success is an inspiring C-drama about ambition, perseverance, relationships, and the journey toward success. It follows the characters as they navigate career challenges, personal setbacks, difficult choices, and the realities of chasing their dreams.

What makes it compelling is that success isn’t portrayed as an overnight achievement. The story focuses on growth, resilience, friendship, love, and learning from failure—showing how every setback can become part of the road forward.

Definitely one of those underrated dramas that slowly hooks you until you realize, “Okay… I need to watch the next episode.”

After watching the last episode, this deserved a standing ovation. BTW, this is the first time I am rating a C-drama.

Quirky & Wise

A timid girl with poor self esteem joins an unorthodox sketching club when she’s captivated by one of its members. Then an extremely confident boy, who’s equally captivated by her, also joins the group. Under the guidance of the eccentric members, will this duo find a new sense of worth as they learn to see themselves more clearly?

I found this to be a really cute coming-of-age romcom. It had lots of scenes that made me laugh from the chaos this club created. And I found other moments to be inspiring with the lessons the older members taught the duo - about being & loving yourself in the present as you journey to meet the future you. They were such supportive mentors to their new, young friends. [[ I especially loved how they verbally slayed that delulu female love rival with some hard truths in defense of their beloved friends ]]🫶🏻

While this is mainly focused on the Leads’ individual & shared journey, it also gives time to each club member to have their story told to give us insight into the why behind each of their personalities. It also tells portions of the Lead’s respective friends’ stories too. I admit, I loved the male trio more than the females simply because the boys never had any petty fights or drama amongst them (unlike the girls) - their friendship was solid from start to finish.

There are other support characters that add certain aspects to the drama, some of whom I enjoyed while others I wanted to slap. But even that is realistic as we don’t only meet people we like in life - we have to learn to accept & respect those we don’t care for as well (but that doesn’t mean we have to allow them to manipulate or abuse us in any way!)

If you’re wanting a not-new story told in a fun, unique way then I recommend watching this. Due to all the differing personalities of the members, I think everyone will find at least one character they can relate to…

PS: the secondary love line adds its own life lessons in both beautiful & frustrating ways.

Came for the plot, stayed for directing - indie heart in a mainstream body.

Writing wise it’s a cliches overload. Successful male lead with initially egocentric attitude, haunted by his mandatory past trauma. Poor female lead struggling in her daily life, with mandatory past trauma. The plot was painfully predictable, but smooth sailing. I predicted the majority of plot points around episode 3 - ending included. I did not really mind, I watched it for vibes, not for the thrills.

The leads were fine. As a local pinning enthusiast I was both well fed, but also robbed. The first few episodes delivered such a good low-key angst with Su Bin pinning over Ju I Jae as she pushed him away, I just wanted more and more of it. But then they moved on from it so fast. That one time you wished the misunderstanding was not actually resolved in a mature manner…

There was depth on paper, but not in the delivery. I think they dealt with issues too fast. Less conflicts, but better explored please. Out of both leads, I for sure liked Ju I Jae arc more - from surviving to living and chasing her lost dream. Ready to face her fears to improve.

On the other hand, while I liked what they tried to present with Su Bin, it never truly hit the mark for me. Personally I loved how flawed he was. How desperate and misguided he acted at times. This makes for a compelling character. Yet again, similarly to external conflicts, his internal struggles were also not explored enough. He thought he was brave enough to stop running away, but the truth is, he just decided to hide behind Ju I Jae instead of learning how to be emotionally independent and healthy. This would be such an interesting internal journey if they cared to dive deeper into it.

I think the chemistry between Hwang In Youp and Lee Hye Ri was good, but not outstanding. A lot of heavy lifting was done by the editing. That silhouette kissing scene? Cinema!

Luckily, in terms of romance, everyone can find something for themselves since we get 3 separate couples with different flavors. Leads deliver the youthful romance, second couple sprints from bickering to friends to lovers tropes and the third just jumps straight into bed with initially no strings attached.

Of course no kdrama can happen without abuse plotlines, so be prepared for that - it goes both emotional and physical. Some of the abusers did not face enough karma if you ask me - forgive and forget should not be that easy to achieve.

For the acting, I was content, but not impressed. You know what's funny. Usually actors do decent in every day mundane scenes, but struggle with more emotionally heavy. But I actually liked Hwang In Youp's acting in these more heavy scenes more than the daily stuff. Not that he did a bad job per se, but it was just fine. Sidenote - Lee Sang Yeob was as hot as always.

Truth to be told, what I loved the most about this title was the directing. The indie vibe with mainstream quality just worked so well. There were many little filming techniques and editing choices I loved. Slow close ups from medium-full/full shots that hold the camera on the reaction of the character longer than usually. I also liked how “slow paced” the editing was - rather than creating dynamic shots by cutting to different angles, they used one shots with zooms in/out and camera movement.

It's not like the whole drama is some masterpiece of unique editing and directing, but it always had moments that I especially enjoyed. Fun transitions between scenes, POV you would not expect to see, mixing romance with comedy by showing different people’s reactions in the same wider shot. Changing the person in focus in one shot, instead of cutting the scenes between the two characters. So many little things that just worked for me.

Overall, it was a fine watch. Around half way through I caught myself being more excited to see what kind of fun filming/directing/editing choices they make, and not the plot progression itself. It feels like there was a lot of heart and thought put into all aspects of the production, but the writing itself.

i like ms cha was in the background, doing odd jobs, tryna indirectly help them yet not officially joining the team (perhaps her ego was too inflated or she had other responsibilities to take care of, lowkey forgot)

also like the fact all of the co-workers, one by one joined in again.

the ml's mom moving in and taking care of everyone was sooo cutesy.

THE SISTERS OUTFITS WERE SOOO CUTE OMFG SHES SUCH A STAR

ALSO I WANTED HIS BAD BOY AESTHETICS AND HIS LOVE FOR FLOWERS TO NOT JUST END IN 2 EPS.

NEGATIVES-

girl this shit was becoming my favorite until...
From episode 9 it kind of went downhill

His acting is so good, his eyes are so expressive but his character is a bit weird.
He doesn't say anything when she's insulted and even after mentioning several times his love for her, when someone flirts with him he just lets it happen.

He tried to kiss her several times and it's clear she isn't fully aware of her feelings yet he keeps pushing.

They needed to add more romance, cus it kind of honestly lacked it

There are moments where he is just made to be the main character since he comes to save the day and only he can, and when he does face misfortune it just seems like an opportunity to showcase how he copes(which isn't showcased badly)

also go ma-jin like his stereotypes and misogyny ( in Thailand or even before that) was REALLY PISSING ME OFF ( but i loved his redemption arc in the last 2 eps)

I felt that they needed to further develop the villains character, lore/ backstory cus half the time i didn't understand it esp the father son crying scene. AND I don't understand the part where the villain just knocks out his father and kidnaps him.

ALSO I DONT UNDERTSAND THE TIME JUMPS OR THE SETTING LIKE THE SHOW STARTED AT 1996 THEN IT WAS 2006????

EP 15-16 (i dropped it and picked it up again cus i though he was gonna get kidnapped or smh and got scared)

interesting music choices for sure in the last 2 eps (don't even get me started on the use of ai songs, disappointed in humanity)
also everyone sorta over-acted in the last 2 eps like being too dramatic and stuff.

also the moment where his co-workers father attempts to commit suicide and where the ml is like tryna sad-talk feels kinda forced, esp when the co-worker couldn't climb the ladder.

the promissory note of him no longer being the ceo, should have like added a date on it.

bro did not need to look like Patrick star on tip of his car in the middle of the road to block it (first time it happened it was really cute and heartfelt but this was just cringy)

also why did they just add a Montague of all the happy moments when he was kicked out? like everyone started sobbing and shit.
