Glad I read a detailed review

I don't usually place much stock in reviews, but I ran across a review for this drama a few days ago. I hadn't even heard of it, so obviously it wasn't on my radar, but since I haven't had much luck in the rom-com department recently, I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. This was one that cause all of life and chores to cease - I finished it in two days! I'm not going to reiterate the story but just give my general impressions:
-ML and FL relationship was believable. They were in a contractual relationship, and we got to go along for the ride as they got to know one another. The development of the relationship and their feelings was believable. We could feel when they started to care for one another.
-Their relationship was also healthy. They supported one another and were there for each other.
-Lovely chemistry.
-There wasn't a lot of over-the-top acting.
-Loved the boss/assistant relationship. Lots of amusing things there.
-There was a lot of comedy in this. I think they tag things as comedies too often. You watch, expecting a rom-com, but are disappointed. I laughed out loud a lot. There was something that happened toward the end that surprised me so much, snorting occurred and I hit my head on the headboard. My husband came in to see if I was alright.
-Likeable characters, for the most part.
-Business talk was kept to a minimum. This was, thankfully, more romance than business. They could have probably cut it by a couple of episodes, but it wasn't too laggy.
-Sweet, happy ending.

Things I didn't care for:
-The second couple. She was a stalker, immature, and whiny. If she had changed in earlier episodes and become more mature, I would have been all in on this relationship. But it was too little, too late.

A good rom-com makes me feel good while watching it. A really good one keeps me smiling. This one kept me smiling.

Captivating Romance and Top Tier Production

Pursuit of Jade is a visually elegant series with intriguing romantic chemistry across all three couples. The acting of the cast was natural and totally believable. While the narrative struggled with an overcomplicated plot; I fast forwarded parts, the gorgeous visuals and engaging relationship arcs make it a worthwhile watch.

The central romance and the two secondary couples provide excellent narrative support,

The political conspiracies and feuds are drawn out, and distract from the story.
Many parts were slow, non-essential subplots that failed to drive the main story forward. Could have been more tightly edited instead the series lacked the impact of its best moments.

Social classes and how they form one's character

So the conclusion is that if someone is stupid enough to save you once, don't make him the scapegoat everytime you need to overcome a dangerous situation because when you leave them to get tortured,  starved, and drugged in prison, they might be driven to madness and your abusive behaviour towards that person might backfire on you; just like how Mengzhen and Xiaoxei, made Choufei the scapegoat again and again and Choufei got drugged and lost his mind and got himself and a lot of other people killed. And of course don't try to break the scapegoat by giving them the news about their sworn brother dying out of revenge because once they break, they will break you back; just like what Lei Chun did to Choufei right after he had helped her gain the leadership of her family.
🙄
What an absurd and superfluous story line!
Push and push and push until the damn breaks and then condemn and blame the damn.

The only morally and intellectually valuable theme in the story, was the criticism of social classes and how it dictates prejudice and discrimination against lower classes and those with a modest background.
Bai Choufei came from a low class.l family. He had no connections, and no financial support so he had always been striving and struggling but could never succeed. And everyone including Su Mengzheng thought of him as "inferior" as he described Choufei to his advisor once because Choufei was not financially as capable as himself. When ever they needed to sacrifices someone, Choufei was the first choice because sacrificing him had no backlash for their house. When one of the keepers were imprisoned by the treason of another keeper, Mengzhend sent Choufei and Xiao Xei to kill the trairor and free the imprisoned keepet on the same night. But when Choufei was imprisoned in the dungeon of the ministry of justice, he was left alone for a long time during which he was tortured and drugged and got half mad. And nobody asked him what had happened to him or how he was or why he had changed, not even Xiao Xei. Everybody took his previous sacrifices as granted and never thanked him for them.
But unfortunately this important issue was not dwelt upon as it should have been.

Acting, music, costume, make up, cinematography,  swordplay scenes... were great but the script was a waste of everyone's time and talent.
If I hadn't liked the actors, I would have dropped it in the middle.

Terrifying Without a Drop of Gore

It didn’t have even a single splatter scene, yet the jump scares were absolutely insane. 😭 This is the perfect example of how a movie can be genuinely terrifying without blood being splattered everywhere — all you need is a good story and someone who knows how to tell it.

It’s been a long time since a movie scared me this much. The tension and atmosphere worked incredibly well, and the actors’ performances were perfect. 👏

My only complaint is the lighting: some scenes were just *too* dark, and at times it was difficult to see what was happening.

Still, such an effective horror movie. No gore needed — just pure fear. 👻

- A história já começa nos apresentando a química impecável dos protagonistas e a forma com que eles passam a questionar a própria sexualidade;
- Aqui nós acompanhamos duas histórias ao mesmo tempo, a que esta acontecendo na vida real e a que esta sendo filmada. Ambas possuem começo, meio e fim;
- A forma com que essas histórias coexistentes vão se conectando e mesclando as linhas entre ficção e realidade é fascinante;
- Toda a produção, direção e trilha sonora trabalham para criar essa atmosfera sensual, melancólica e pesada com muito bom gosto;
- Os diálogos são profundos e bem construídos;
- As cenas sexuais e eróticas foram muito bem feitas pois tinham uma boa coreografia, uma iluminação intimista e atuações convincentes;
- A quantidade de vezes que eles improvisam são essenciais para a história pois conecta muito bem os 4 personagens;

What a waste!

When I saw the FL and ML, i was actually very excited. but alas, i was disappointed that , how do i say it.. not sure if it is the how the story is being told (scripting), the production or how the director make this drama is just average or even poor. I feel it's very contrived, disjointed and not realistic. I feel from the acting to the scene and all , it just felt awkward. It's just not seamless and the transition is very poor, IMO.

Don't get me wrong, the story itself is pretty good... it's just how the drama is being made. i guess, at least. not to my expectation to say it is a 9 or 10 level. What a waste when you have a great casts like the ML and FL. Perhaps it is the screenplay or something. It is just poorly done. The acting, at times, especially Fuzhi (exaggerated) or even Meng Ting Hui (WJY, I expect more) or his assistance, Ying Qing (damn annoying), are also poor. Fortunately, the ML is a saving grace. I watch a couple more episodes. I would pin this poorly done drama on the director or screenplay. Just poorly done. I am already at Episode 20 and oh, my.. cannot stand it.. irritates me so much I just decided to stop and watch others. I will take my time to finish this or i will never finish this drama .

To each his own, you can try and see if you can take it.. You may feel the same way like I do or by all means finish it... i think still worth trying to watch a couple of episodes first. At least you can convince your self. hehe

The love story of a doormat and a rich kid

I have suffered watching this... even at 2x speed...

I don't understand how people can like a character like Lu Xiao Fan. I know the story takes place in the 90s, so the ways and mantalities were different, but Lu Xiao Fan is just pathetic. As someone already pointed out in the reviews, he acts like a married woman from the 1920s, cooking, cleaning, without even opening his month to complain, and watching a doormat for 12 episodes straight is not something that I enjoyed. Even the "twist" at the end didn't make me change my opinion about him, I just discovered that he has a brain and knows how to use it.

And don't get me started on the Lu family. Those people are worse than leeches and none of them is salvageable. They are all trying to live off the Bei family's money by using their doormat son. The dad and the son are crooks. The sister is a thief and doesn't take accountability. The mother could've been saved if she didn't try to set up her daughter with Lu Qing. And I know full well that they married their son off precisely to take advantage of this family's money but it was way too much. Lu Xin and, at the end, Lu Qing did really well when they put this family in its place.

Actually, Lu Xin was my favourite character from this sh*tshow. She's not a perfect character (far from it) and it was a bit weird to know that she had a crush on her own brother (even as half-siblings, they still share a mother...), but she didn't let herself be used by either families and that's good for her.

So, honestly, don't waste your time watching this series. There are a lot of better series out there for you to watch.

Fake Family, Real Thrills: Ji Sung Steals the show

Mixing suburban neighborhood politics with high-stakes heist dynamics, with its lively cast, catchy soundtrack, and fast-paced storytelling, this Korean drama keeps viewers involved from beginning to end.

Ji Sung Delivers it again, given his Charm and Energy to the role which makes him the titan of the Korean Industry. The supporting cast also shines, adding personality and humor that make every episodes enjoyable. The chemistry among the characters gives the series warmth and makes even the lighter moments memorable.

Although the plot occasionally relies on familiar genre tropes, but the strong performances, entertaining script, and engaging atmosphere make The Apartment Job a highly enjoyable watch. The Apartment Job is a fun and satisfying Korean drama that combines smart storytelling, lovable characters, and memorable music into an entertaining package that fans of lighthearted crime dramas will appreciate. It easily earns a solid 8.0/10.

A Family Entertainer With A Touch of Comedy!!

Ji Sung never fails to deliver a hit, and we have another entertainer on our hands!!

Found family concept runs deep throughout this show, and I’m not just talking about the main unit, but the bonds they form with their neighbors. While the story starts as a random scam conducted by ex-gangsters, it quickly dives into important issues like seeking justice for mismanagement & correcting the wrongs committed by them. The main family first acts as a decoy. They are fake, but as time passes by, they grow closer and their relationship turns transactional to real. The family is chaotic, messy and yet, they stay strong throughout all ordeals. This was my first time watching Ha Yoon Kyoung & she is as good as Ji Sung, the comic delivery is on point and she matches his strength. The show drags a bit in the penultimate episodes, but the finale is satisfactory.

The Ultimate Historical K-Drama That Took Me on an Unforgettable Emotional Rollercoaster ❤️

As a 24-year-old guy who has been watching K-dramas for a long time, I can honestly say that My Dearest is my MOST FAVORITE HISTORICAL K-DRAMA and historical rom-com I have ever seen. This drama completely pulled me into its world and took me on an unforgettable emotional journey. I absolutely loved the storyline, the historical setting, the suspenseful thriller elements, and especially the way the romance develops. It is one of those dramas that makes you laugh, smile, worry, hurt, and emotionally collapse in the best possible way. The extreme rollercoaster of emotions throughout the story is something I will not forget anytime soon.

Namkoong Min once again proves why he is one of my most favorite Korean actors. He was absolutely incredible in this drama, and honestly, he is also ridiculously handsome here. His performance had so much charisma, depth, and emotional weight that I was completely invested in his character. Ahn Eun-jin was equally phenomenal and absolutely beautiful, delivering such a powerful and memorable performance. Their acting felt incredibly natural, and together they created a chemistry that made every interaction between them special. Their relationship is easily one of the biggest reasons I loved this drama so much.

And the chemistry does not stop there. I genuinely loved the dynamics between the couples and the entire cast did an amazing job bringing this story to life. The romance, drama, suspense, and thriller elements are blended together so well that I constantly found myself wondering what would happen next. Without giving anything away, this is a drama that knows exactly how to play with your emotions. Just when you think you have recovered from one emotional moment, it finds another way to completely wreck you. 😂 The storytelling kept me hooked from beginning to end.

My Dearest completely changed my opinion of historical K-dramas. If someone had told me that a historical drama would become one of my top favorite when I had only watched Kingdom in the historical genre before it, I probably wouldn't have believed them. But here we are. As someone who has watched K-dramas for years, I can confidently say this is MY MOST FAVORITE HISTORICAL K-DRAMA & HISTORICAL ROM-COM I HAVE EVER SEEN. Namkoong Min, Ahn Eun-jin, the entire cast, the storyline, the thriller elements, the romance, and that insane emotional journey all came together perfectly. This is one K-drama I will remember for a very long time.

Realistic Human Life Made by Human

Finally I watched it after considering too much. Firstly just because I craving for power couple with sick male lead. And I got more.

Story,
Even though the story are common second chance life, but this story deliver the 'common dish' but in fine dining type of 'common dish' with extraordinary taste. Producer didn't just deliver, they served the whole realm and each character's story with human touch. I got not only beautiful story, but also everything that happend actually got their own cause-effect like human in real life. I found everything got connected beautifully. I believe that behind beautiful story, there are a lot of hard work poured by the production crew and the actors. Thank you for all of you for bring this masterpiece to us!

Acting,
Actually I came in here because I curious about how He Yu potrayed sickly crown prince with sharp witted mind. He got me for a whole story! He made me laugh, tense, want to throw a pillow to him, or even I cry a river for him. I'm afraid his 'sickly male' don't impact me because his image in my mind are strong badboy man, and this male lead are my cup of tea so I got a lot of favorite actor who played this type of lead well. But he proved me wrong to doubt his skill!
Meng jie always served I don't need many words for her.
But the fact that I'm captivated by Jeremy Xu. He definitely got really good skill even when he act, I forgot his usual appearance in real life.
And all of the actors are really good! Thank you acting team for your hard work.

Music,
All of the BGM are so good, the placement and the meaning of each song are great too!

Overall and Rewatch Value,
I will saved it to my playlist when I want to feel pain as human. Of course this worth to watch, especially this is one of the best female centric story that I ever watched!

Dory: P... Sherman... Me lo ricordo! ?

Incoerenza! Cedimento ormonale!".
Fermi tutti e posate i forconi.

Promosso!

Great Balanced Story

This was a series that kept me coming back for more from the very beginning. Obviously a massive budget film, the entire production from the brilliant writers onward was developed with the highest of standards.
Visually stunning with the rich sets, cinematography that captured the beautiful scenery, and the costumes that showed gorgeous, high-end materials with colors that fit the tone of each scene that appeared.
The main leads, magnetic, multi-talented actors, brought their broad range of acting to this series, and with the very talented supporting actors nailed their roles beautifully.
For me, the series had a good character development with the right pacing keeping me interested in how the villains got their dues in the end, and how this combative romance at the beginning would realistically end up.
Perfect Crown had everything in it that I could ever want.
Thank you everyone involved in the series for your incredible work.

With the release of this season, videos from the previous one are coming out, and one shows a flashback of the villain "Blade" killing civilians while wearing a keffiyeh… Why that choice? He's the only one. No one else wears one. What message are they trying to convey…? It makes you wonder.

Otherwise, this season makes up for the mistakes of the previous one. They've stopped replaying the same scene ten times for no reason. And the world of this evil Japanese agency continues to expand. They still struggle to do anything with their heroine. She shows impressive action skills, but… she'll end up in a romance with the only guy around, and despite her training, she barely fights at all. Maybe in Season 3 ? Haha

The action scenes are impressive for their excellent quality and their penchant for gore ! That's definitely Disney+ material... wait ?
If there's one reason to watch this series, it's for this meticulously crafted violence. However, a baseball bat to the head means death, not just a little nap. We need to stop with this nonsense. And getting shot multiple times apparently has no more effect on these people than cutting yourself while peeling onions.

An abrupt ending, just like Season 1.
Still not entirely convinced but entertained, I hope for a Season 3 that further improves the formula. Please give your heroine something to do ! (apart from crying alone and waiting for her uncle)

Bad friends can turn you into Bad Genius

What this film did to get so many adaptations, I don't understand
Watching this pissed me off at soo many levels
Bank was the only sane guy in it, and they corrupted him so badly. Why do people even question his villain arc when he was the biggest victim in it. It was interconnected; a bank would never have agreed to help them out in the stvic exam if the rich (Pat) hadn't made him lose the scholarship. They put hurdles in his way, leaving him with no choice but to work for them.
and that Madam Lynn trynna be the hero in the end because now it was her being blackmailed? fack off , you pushed him in this whole misery when he was just trying to help you out during that school scholarship test
Friends like Grace and Pat are nothing worse than hell !
Especially, I blame Grace more because WHY can't you just shut up and NOT tell your jerk boyfriend that your friend helped you out? This all could be prevented. Lynn helped you out of pure friendship during that first school exam. It was a one-time favor because you were so desperate to pass your drama class. She turned her friend's genius into social currency to impress her boyfriend, completely disregarding the massive risk Lynn took for her, again and again. Freaking manipulator, she didn't want to lose the lavish life Pat's parents were offering her.

The whole plot was just about rich people exploiting poor people for their own ends. They didn't even help them when they got into a bad situation, which resulted in the poor people becoming addicted to that exploitation as an escape to achieve their dreams. The rich can buy their way out of trouble, whereas the poor are forced to risk their entire futures just to get a fraction of that wealth, ultimately corrupting their morals.
