Rape can't be excused
Sorry not sorry, but I'm sick and tired of bls that allow rapists to have a happy ending. Having that in the big 2026 is embarrassing. No matter how good the acting or cinematography is, they allowed his actions to be excused because he is sick in the head. And I can already hear people say that's it's just fiction. But life imitates art. Seeing the way people excused the rape by saying the victim deserved it since he didn't fight hard enough for their love is evidence enough that films have consequences on the perception of reality that people have.¿Te ha parecido útil esta reseña?
too much fake depth
tale as old as time - the writers wrote themselves into a hole, then gave us a quick succession of poignant nonsense and grand nothings to cover it up and bring the story to a closewhat worked:
the leads. they were amazing, they really put the rom.com. in romcom. 10/10 no notes
the shaman was hilarious!!! why was she so scared of being possessed? aunty isn't that your literal [fake] job?! lmaooo
i liked the scenes when fl was on set
what didn't work:
the whole time travel/past lives storyline: a giant disaster that took way more than it gave to the story. it also created an unnecessary melodrama that drowned out the true core of the drama. the fl cried so much, and she was so sad and so miserable for so long, for absolutely no reason. add the dying grandma storyline to this disaster pile, such a drag.
the villain: what even was his deal. also i'm not a fan of dramas where the good guys wait until the literal last 30 mins of the show to get their lick back.
most of the supporting characters: they were caricatures who served no purpose (looking at you ml's family)
the fl's wardrobe - some of her outfits towards the end looked cute, but overall it just gave cake topper, they kept dressing her like she was the literal figurine on an English teacher's birthday cake - what an odd choice
the ml was incompetent - but he got away with it bc he was flashy and witty
all the other storylines they started but just couldn't be bothered to wrap up
the editing: could have been better
watch it for the cp, but the rest? the writing really harmed the story in the end (nearly destroyed the cp too), they kept trying to plumb for depths that didn't exist. stop complicating romcoms!

Latte and Kim's side story was so compelling that I would have loved to see more of them.
This story had me laughing and crying in many points of the story.
the soundtrack was absolutely stunning.
It's hard for me to give 10/10 rating but I genuinely think this deserves it.
Can't wait to see more of these two couples because they delivered an amazing performance.

Emotional Roller Coaster
Ok. OK. let me start by saying I am NOT one to watch Romances. Once I see romance in the tagline, I stay away, far far away!But....one lazy afternoon after watching Legend of the Kitchen Soldier, saw Hometown Cha-cha-cha thumbnail and (what the H__ll) clicked on it. Yes, I did enjoy watching it, though I zipped thru the mushy love scenes. I though the story was interesting in that it keeps one guessing on what Chief Hong's deal was. What caught me was the scenery and portrayal of small town life and its quirky characters-- the best acting being that of Cha Chung Hwa, the village gossip.
Speaking of acting, it was good overall, though a 35 year-old dentist who grew up in Seoul and loves high end fashion, being all giddy when with her BF?? No! Just No.
Emotion-wise, it was a roller coaster, which I guess adds to the series' value and keeps the viewers hooked. Would recommend you watch it, but only once, and make sure you can fast forward!

Don’t Judge It Too Fast — Every Element Serves A Meaning
First, let’s look at the cast and their performance. The actors have great presence and fit their roles perfectly, but more importantly, they bring real skill and depth to every scene. They deliver emotions naturally — from hesitation and uncertainty early on, to warmth and sincerity as the story progresses. Their chemistry feels genuine, making every moment between them believable and drawing you into their journey. Even the supporting cast adds value and feels like a meaningful part of the story, not just extra faces. That level of performance shows good direction and strong acting talent.Next is how the story begins and unfolds. The whole plot is set in motion by the magic stones — they serve as the reason their paths cross in the first place. Itt uses them as part of his work, which leads directly to meeting Ritt and starting their connection. Without this element, there would be no clear reason for them to meet, and the story would lack a solid foundation. Everything flows logically from that starting point, leading naturally into the main issue: the lie. This setup is intentional, not random.
Then comes the conflict and the twist. Starting the relationship with a lie is never presented as something right or good — it is carefully placed as the central conflict and key twist. It creates tension, doubt, and misunderstandings, and makes us wonder if their bond can survive. Even when one partner suspects the truth but stays quiet, it adds realism: it shows how fear of losing someone new can make people hold back. This conflict drives the story forward, giving the characters a real challenge to face and giving us a journey worth following.
Finally, the resolution and how it all comes together. The story builds steadily toward the later episodes, where the truth is revealed and both characters take responsibility for their mistakes. The resolution doesn’t rush to fix everything instantly; instead, it shows them talking openly, apologizing, and working to rebuild trust step by step. It makes the clear point that fate — represented by the stones — can bring two people together, but only honesty, understanding, and effort can keep them together. Every detail connects perfectly: the stones bring them to meet, the lie creates the challenge, and their choice to solve it leads to a meaningful, satisfying ending. Nothing feels out of place or left unexplained.

More a cautionary tale
I actually enjoyed watching this series, predictable as the outcome may have been. I find it more a tool for educating parents, HS students, teachers, etc rather than entertainment. Cheesy, but I could not help cheering the ERPB group on. Broken educational system, and those who take advantage or use students, or stand by and do nothing, should be punished, in my humble opinion.¿Te ha parecido útil esta reseña?

Who Doesn't Love a Organized Crime Romance?
I saw a clip of this on YouTube Shorts so I thought I would give it a go. I'm still fairly new to C-Dramas, but I think they're starting to win me over.Synopsis (No spoilers if you read the official plot)
Yingli's aunt dies to suicide, but she's pretty sure that her aunt was murdered. After spending some time in jail which is not super clearly explained, she gets out and decides she wants to investigate her aunt's death all on her own. Her research brings her to the Kuntai Group, who has a few storefronts but seems to only deal in white-powder narcotics. She is thrown into the fray due to her overconfidence and poor planning but repeatedly rescued by one of the leaders, Sen. They continue to cross paths and to protect her from the other immoral gang members, he takes her as his woman. I can't believe that the summary of the show includes the twist that he is actually an undercover agent working to shut down organized crime, because if did not know ahead of time that would have been a HUGE twist. Yingli contributes little to the investigation and often becomes a liability, but Sen is smart and resourceful enough to manage the fallout.
Actors: I don't know Chinese actors enough yet to give a good review on their performance compared to other C-Dramas.
===GOOD===
* Decent and well-choreographed fighting scenes with guns and one explosion.
* Great romantic pacing.
* No NC scenes, but decent kissing and seamless cutaways for sexy times.
* Sen is a stand out. Very well acted, justified emotions, and strong character work.
* A few beautifully shot scenery moments.
===MEH===
* Why are the police always kind of idiots?
* Really I wanted Yingli to be more badass through the whole thing or at least surprise us at some point. I felt like her character was really underwritten.
* Some of the fight scenes had kind of silly sound effects that take you out. Like what kick to the stomach makes a squishy noise?
* The ex-boyfriend's subplot did not make any sense and also, how did he know she was in the hospital and where she was when she got sick, because it reads stalking.
* The time Kun "tested" the drugs by stabbing a knife haphazardly in the middle of a white-powder bag and sticking a finger of it in his mouth, then swishing it around like flour-flavored mouthwash.... I'm no drug overlord but I don't think that's how you do that.
* I didn't care for the "3 HOURS LATER"-style time jump. It felt unnecessary.
===BAD===
* Only men can do good fight scenes and women are there to look pretty
* The idea that successful women have to put out to get ahead in the world
* Underdeveloped prison back story and for a woman who spent 5 years in prison, she seems pretty naive and timid, but we needed a damsel in distress so I guess she served her purpose
* What was that red dress situation when she got kidnapped for the 10000th time?
* He told her to stay and lay low in the apartment until he contacts her and then every time we see her after that she's out shopping or walking around the city. Did she even go into the apartment?
==Other Stuff==
* Engaging from the very beginning.
* Watched in one go over 2 days without a boredom break.
* Did not pass the Bechdel-Wallace test.
* Did not make me cry although there is one or two fairly intense emotional scenes.
* Not very humerous
* ENDING: Happy Ending, after a Time Jump. Questions answered although not super satisfying.
* TW for suicide, blood (face, shoulder and abdomen), physical violence, home invasion, gun violence, stabbing, demeaning remarks towards women and superficial molestation
All in all, we got what we came for: a little sweet romance, damsel in distress, a handsome knight in shining armor cosplaying as a badboy, big explosions and organized crime action. Pretty predictable story since they spoiled the only really good twist in the film summary, but otherwise the pacing was great, the chemistry was great (even if Sen carried most of it). Yingli is adorable, but her personality is a bit bland and other than being very very cute and emotionally supportive, she wasn't particularly helpful to the investigation.
WATCH IF YOU LIKE: action-romance, light on the melodrama
SKIP IF YOU: want strong female agency or tightly written police/procedural/investigation work.

Not bad, simple storyline, good intimacy.
The series was simple. Easy to follow storyline.Handsome actors with good chemistry but mediocre acting skills.
The show will not win any awards, but it was an entertaining way to kill some time.
Good intimacy between lovers, which is an important part of any relationship.
And my brain works just fine. I am allowed to like what I like, for whatever reasons I choose.
Every show is not for everybody. People should not be shamed for liking what they like.

THE SERIES WITH DIFFERENT KIND OF LOVE
compared to typical bl series of today, it offered a completely different and brand-new perspective. it was quite enjoyable to watch. it made me smile in some parts and cry in others.save using guy as material for his novel was extremely terrible, and guy really put save through hell. good job, guy. even though he eventually forgave him, i think he gave save the lesson he deserved.
the main theme of the series was a seventy-five-year-old grandpa challenging the system of his time and finally revealing his buried feelings to the world. the last episode devastated me, and i found myself sobbing. one of the worst things in the world is unfinished or unspoken love. the grandpa's was one of those.
the series had lessons to be learned and messages to be taken from everything, from the family and the children to their friendships. everyone is fixated on the actors' ages; yes, they're old for this series, but focusing solely on that is extremely wrong. while the actors' performances were a bit stiff at first, they gradually improved. especially the part in the last episode where they acted out a scene from the book was where their acting reached its peak. there, i completely understood both the characters in the novel and how the grandpa felt.
and yes, there wasn't much kissing or nc scenes. if you look at it, there wasn't any kissing in the grandpa's novel either, but that didn't stop it from selling. so what i'm saying is, you don't necessarily need physical interaction to evoke feelings. this series is the best example of that.

enjoyable drama with problematic aspects
Really enjoyable and satisfying to watch with out group running around as vigilante avengers. Trying to correct the wrongs and save victims, and while I understand the intentions were noble, there was, at many points, I felt like the drama was trying to condone physical violence, human rights abuse and other such things unintentionally.Things I disliked:
A teacher beating a child is never okay, even as a last resort, I found it very problematic that the show showed the age old conservative way of beating kids in good light, just coz it was a bad character.
Same episode had another really problematic thing- showing that female students deliberately wrongly frame their teachers, what a fucked up thing to show in a society already as misogynist and patriarchal as South Korea, where women are raped murdered and assaulted till date.
And adults using excessive force against kids, even if they were bullies was again something that seemed wrong to me. Though at the same time I understand sometimes you have no choice but to make the abusers go through the same abuse they inflicted on their victims to make them realise the extent and affect of it.
Another thing- it had a really unnecessary forced romance that made me cringe and wish that the makers really hadn't done that.
Also the characters weren't very well fleshed out, even the male leads seemed to be too chill related to the murder of their fiance and daughter respectively, I don't think it's humanly possible to be so chill with the murder of someone who was basically your life and then interact with the murderer and even go as far as forgiving them, why? just because they are younger than you?? and "you are supposed to be an adult"? So illogical
Which is why I disliked the climax with them redeeming the murderer. So what if he was a young person??? He literally murdered the only person who cared about him. Seems like a psychopath to me.
Things I liked:
The way they were empathetic with the victim and their situation
Making kids who took the wrong way understand their mistakes (the ones that weren't too far gone)
Leads trying other ingenious ways to make abusers realise their mistake, like in the case of non violent abuse, making the abuser go through the same abuse
I think the drama could have been improved more, and it was indeed good as is, but some of the problematic aspects are too problematic so I have to deduct -1.5 stars for it. Otherwise this is a solid 8.5 star drama

Deserve an 11/10 rating
After what happened to Ohm and Leng I vowed not to watch this series, but Head2Head made me reconsider my stance, because Surf and Java were so good in it.When I started the series I went in with high expectations — thanks to Ohmleng pilot — and I wasn't disappointed. Seeing certain comments here asking why this mini series is so highly recommend and rated is funny. First and foremost this series sticks to its plot, it set out to show us how Tum and Oh travelled to 9 temples to fulfill their promise. Secondly the enemies to lovers troupe was so perfectly executed, there was no doubt that they hated each other and yet slowly but steadily they fall in love. Third their love story is convincing, not rushed but creeping up on them, and us the viewers so stealthily yet openly that we are not surprised to see them make out, flashbacks like Messi literally in front of Oh and Tum — and yet not seen by the two love birds confirm how they had become so captivated with each other. Oh's love for his grandmother in the little screentime they get is also heartwarming.
Fourth the growth of the Main character of the story; Tum. At the beginning of the series we see a Tum anxious to belong, weak willed and indecisive, yet his interactions with Oh begins to influence his mindset, he starts to question who he really is and what he wants. The climax of the story was when he took away Oh's trousers and watched Oh break down. He learns from his mistakes, grows and fights to protect those he loves. At the last episode Tum who always ran from a fight, Tum who was always scared 'cause of his gang and followed the crowd, stood up and openly declared his love for Christopher Booying (Oh) he also fights and to everyone surprise — thanks to his preserverance — wins his very first fight without help. Character growth is further emphasized by his willingness to give up his position as gang leader — now that he truly understands what friendship means. Choosing to give Oh the very Nuea-in badge that brought about all the fighting reveals how mature and confident he has become. That he leaves his leadership position willing just to date Christopher Booying shows that he now really knows what he wants!
Fifth is friendship, Messi played by Louis is the exemplar of a true friend, he stands by Tum in all his decisions, encourages him to love Oh and helps thwart the Nuea-in gang from finding out about Oh and Tum's visit to the nine temples. Gmmtv really rocked with this one.

Well done by new actors.
Considering this is the first acting job for all these actors, they did a very good job. Ofcourse there is still room for improvement, they all had something they can improve.The mains had good chemistry, kisses and NC scenes. Ritt wasn't very good in the angry and crying scenes, but for the rest he did very good. Itt was a bit too timid, he needs to work more on showing emotions.
Pure an Phitcha had great chemistry, kisses and NC scenes. For me they were the favorite couple, they did everything better than the main couple. I hope to see them together in another drama. You could see there were some moments they didn't know how to act, but with a little more training they will be amazing actors.
Grandpa did some amazing acting in episode 9.
The story was good, so were the visuals and music, Boy Sompop never dissapoints.

One of the best romance kdramas ever
This is one of my absolute favorite Romance kdramas aside from it's okay to not be okay but they both have similar feels. They both have childhood trauma, healing together, etc. Though these two k-dramas have completely different vibes, energy, and feels but regardless, this is an amazing series that I've watched 10+ times.I went through childhood trauma myself where I was severely abused from the age of 4 until I was 14 in a government facility, so this really resonates with me. Dramas like this are very special to me and not to mention, I am in HSP, so I cry every episode.
I never ever ever listen to OSTs but this series is an exception! I have it on my Spotify and listen to it frequently and it's the only OST that I listen to!
It's a very beautiful series that you should give a chance if you enjoy watching people grow and heal and do it together they find themselves and each other and the ending couldn't be more perfect.

Heartbreaking
My soul aches after watching this.To be completely honest, the way they contrast the present and the past gives you time to process everything and stop crying for a minute.
This kdrama perfectly portrays the questioning "why didn't I ask for help?", "if I had done this, I could have prevented that from happening," but we all know that sometimes life gets in the way and our own nature interferes, which ends up overriding our rational side. We say things we don't mean and we also do things we didn't want to do. We try to hurt each other so that people feel what we are feeling, unfortunately that is human nature. On the other hand, it is also human nature to feel things so intensely that we make choices we didn't want to make, but which, at that moment, were the only option.
This kdrama is beautiful and, although it is really painful, I watched it crying, but I finished with a feeling of contentment.
I loved it. Bon-Mi and Jin-Young make a beautiful couple.
