This is not what I was expecting
This kdrama genuinely had one of the best start . I was sold when I heard it was story about two antagonists falling in love . Until the jeju island arc came and everything started going downhill .MY OPINION ON MAIN CHARACTERS
SHIN SEO RI : her strength lies in her sharp senses which became non existent . Villainess ? hardly , would a joseon antagonist be so slow on her wits ? And even from the flashback she was not even a antagonist so why was the drama even marketed like it . From all the historical dramas I have watched , one thing about smart female antagonists /fl is that they live in a ride or die situation . Let alone that, a normal joseon woman specially someone who has been part of palace hierarchy and harem would never even turn out like her . Even after being in the modern world for long enough she makes a complete fool out of herself in every situation she gets like girl who the hell goes to meet a villain alone when you are aware that he is manipulative jerk . The most obvious step someone does when they are thrown into an unfamiliar surrounding is ADAPT , but the fl doesn't have this word in her dictionary . I get, it's the writers liberty to give her a world of her own but maybe just a little bit of common sense would have made this character better . And why are the lead always fighting , she is slapping her partner like it's no big deal it's basically assault , like the car scene .
Now coming to CHA SE GYE , I expected more villain characteristics from him because he was actually shown threatening people . But alas my rotten luck . I don't hate downbadism of the male lead in fact I love men who are losers in love . But they forgot he was supposed to be a villain in first place . The nurse girl was such a important accomplie of the poisoning , so a perfect evidence . You're telling me he appointed no trustable person to protect her . A man who has tried destroying you , why are letting him off the hook so easily so many times .
CHOI MUN DO , He can't even survive if he had a face off with actual good leads . He was really sloppy with everything he did , it was like he was all mighty and powerful just for the plot's sake . LOL .
NOW TO THE STORY
This should have stayed a rom com but they decided to add succession politics and sh!t . Sometimes what viewers want is not a plot full of twist we just want a genuinely good drama , not to spike our blood pressure but to calm it down . I would like to give this task to psychological thrillers and actions not a rom com for sure .
ACTING
What happened to the actress ?? She was never this bad at acting . I have loved lim ji yeon from the glory and that was because of her strong acting as park yeon jin but the hell was this . Even her smile feels absolutely artificial here , she had done such good work in her previous dramas and now this , Is it some sort of filter migration ? . The actor wasn't so better either , specially when he got angry . I really liked him in your honour and sweethome so I'll look forward to both of these actors work in future since they aren't always bad at acting . I hope they improve.
Definitely one of my top xianxia dramas. ❤️
I started Ancient Love Poetry with high expectations, but I also had my doubts. At the beginning, I honestly struggled to connect with Shanggu. As the Chief God, I expected a powerful and confident female lead from the start, but instead, I saw someone who was still immature, impulsive, and learning what it truly meant to carry such a heavy responsibility. But that became one of the reasons why I appreciated her journey.
This drama is not about a perfect heroine who already has everything figured out. It is about growth, sacrifice, and becoming worthy of the title she carries. Watching Shanggu transform from a carefree young goddess into the true Chief God was one of the most rewarding parts of the story.
And then there was Bai Jue.
At first, he was the ultimate “ice cube” — cold, distant, and impossible to read. But as the story unfolded, I realized that his silence was never because he lacked emotions. It was because he carried responsibilities, secrets, and burdens that he chose to endure alone.
Xu Kai’s portrayal of Bai Jue was one of the highlights of this drama. He perfectly captured a character who loved deeply but expressed it through actions rather than words. His love for Shanggu was quiet, patient, protective, and filled with sacrifices that only became clearer as the story progressed.
What made their relationship special was that they were not simply two people who fell in love. They were two powerful beings carrying responsibilities greater than themselves. Their love was tested by destiny, duty, misunderstandings, separation, and the fate of the Three Realms.
Episode 41 completely broke me. The heartbreak was overwhelming, but it was also the moment that showed the depth of every character’s love and sacrifice. The pain was not only about romance — it was about family, duty, and the unbearable choices people make to protect the ones they love.
One of the most emotional parts for me was seeing the love of a father. A father's love is sometimes quiet, hidden behind responsibility and difficult decisions, but it can be one of the strongest forms of love. This drama reminded me that sacrifice is not always a sign of losing someone; sometimes it is the greatest way of protecting them.
Ancient Love Poetry reminded me why I love xianxia dramas. The best stories are not only about immortals, magic, and powerful abilities. They are about choices, consequences, loyalty, and the sacrifices people make for love and for the world they protect.
The story gave me frustration, heartbreak, tears, and moments where I questioned the characters’ choices. But the emotional payoff made everything worth it. The pain before the happiness made the ending feel more meaningful.
I also appreciated the beautiful world-building, costumes, visuals, music, and the relationships beyond romance. This drama explored friendship, family, responsibility, and what it truly means to carry the fate of others.
After watching many C-dramas across different genres, Ancient Love Poetry became one of my favorite xianxia dramas. It was not an instant favorite from the beginning, but it became a story that stayed with me because of its characters, sacrifices, and emotional journey.
A story about two ancient gods who proved that sometimes love is not about choosing each other first — it is about becoming strong enough to protect each other, even when the entire world stands in their way.
Definitely one of my top xianxia dramas.
Such a satisfying show
I am more of a romance drama watcher, but can I say how impressed I am over this show? Every moment of the show had such satisfying factors. I never got more hooked so fast. It was so satisfying to watch every student, teacher, or parent get taught a lesson by the ML. The FL (sorta ish) is just as amazing and I love her “crack-head” personality. This show is so easy to rewatch and just feel a sense of satisfaction with every episode. It is so beautiful to see the education system get shown into light because every drama I watch involves some type of bullying in schools. I would 100% recommend this to first time K-drama watchers and would rewatch again!
What a great story!!
At first I thought this was going to be very boring, but I was so so so wrong. The drama held such an emotional impact on me with the storyline of moving, family, and friends. The plot followed similar stories, but some parts did leave me stunned because I couldn’t guess what was coming next. It was addictive and left me wanting to watch one more episode every time. At first I really didnt like the FL with her attitude in the beginning, but I soon grew to like her character. The ML was perfectly casted for this role. Dare I say this is better than Lighter and The Princess? This ML is better than LATP due to many reasons. I really love how there is less conflict between the two main leads and more about life and other factors. It made me believe that the two were solid instead of being irritated over over-exaggerated fights. Overall this is such an amazing story!
A must-watch Japanese BL
This is easily hands down the best Japanese BL I have seen. Great acting, amazing story, satisfying ending. Not much could have been done better. The only issue I had was when they suddenly skipped three years. It was too sudden and slightly confusing for a short while. Other than that, I would have loved to see their relationship not being a secret in the end.
A Slow but Worth It C-drama! (Rewatchable & Heartwarming)
OK SPOILERS AHEAD SO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!! One of the best Chinese dramas I've ever watched in a while, it had funny moments, sad moments, moments when you wanted to rip your hair out, moments when you felt the love through the screen. It was beautifully shot (I appreciated the cinematography esp in the beginning) and made. The actors did a great job, and honestly, JIAYOU YIFEN YAN HAOAN & QIAO, I love you 4... only reason it's not 10/10 is that I wish it had like 2 more episodes, maybe a wedding to end it off, but the proposal had me bawling so! I also wish after the Hong Kong arc, we just forgot about the rest of the world that was already built, for example, after Yan fought Xingde at overtime, we never saw the overtime workers or anything like that, which I did miss, and we didn't see ANY of Haoan or Siqiao for a bit either, or it was very scarce and i feel like esp for the girls they defintely would've hung out a bit or just something more than after they found her in hongkong. That's my only issue, but honestly, I love that they had a strong female lead in this she was never annoying or stupid, just real. I loved her and her strength, and the story that I feel like so many people could relate to. I love how it didn't bring a message about having to forgive your family or any BS like that. I appreciate her standing her ground and finally cutting off all of her family. It was perfection. Not everyone needs to be in your life or forgiven. I appreciated that. Wen Yifen, I genuinely loved you... And I hope in your world of Nanwu, you are always happy. this drama will definitely be held near and dear to my heart. (finished in 4 days # record-breaking for me).
A treat for the eyes!!
This feels like someone took Everything Everywhere All At Once, Inception, & Gravity, and made a movie out of it.Victoria Song & Dylan Wang are great together, and it was great watching them gradually trust each other.
The world hopping is AMAZING and the extended dream crushing sequence at the end made my jaw drop.
The one downside was that the main villain (LM) didn't feel compelling. It felt like a rehash of the "evil computer" trope. It was a bit of a letdown after the amazing start.
Pure office romance perfection—absolutely mega cute and heartwarming! ??✨
Overall:Jun & Jun is hands down one of the most adorable and refreshing Korean BL dramas of 2023. I absolutely love everything about this show! It is pure comfort, filled with mega cute moments, great humor, and a very satisfying romance. It easily gets a high rating from me because it kept a massive smile on my face from the very first episode to the last. It’s a true feel-good masterpiece.Story:The childhood-friends-to-lovers and office romance tropes were blended together beautifully. The pacing is excellent for an 8-episode series, moving smoothly without any unnecessary or toxic drama. Seeing how they reconnect in a professional setting while navigating their past feelings is incredibly endearing and sweet.Acting / Cast:The main leads had fantastic, sparkling chemistry. They portrayed the professional tension and the cute, shy romance effortlessly. The way the boss looks at his intern is just everything! The supporting cast also brought so much life to the office environment, especially the second couple and the co-workers who added great comedic value.Music / OST:The soundtrack is bright, upbeat, and incredibly catchy. It fits the modern, busy office setting perfectly and amplifies all the fluttering, romantic moments between the characters.Rewatch Value:100% rewatchable. This is the ultimate comfort show to revisit whenever you need a quick boost of happiness and a heavy dose of pure fluff.
Watched it entirely for Minu & Maru and the teacher couple—they carried the show! ?✨
Overall:Love Class Season 2 is a decent university BL, but to be completely honest, I watched it solely for Minu and Maru, and the adorable teacher couple. While the main storyline didn't fully capture my attention, these two side couples completely stole the spotlight and made the entire series worth watching. They had so much charm and chemistry that they effortlessly carried the show for me.Story:The drama follows multiple love stories happening on a college campus at the same time. The pacing is quite fast, but because it tries to balance three different couples in just a few episodes, some storylines felt a bit rushed. However, every time Minu and Maru or the teachers were on screen, the story became incredibly engaging, sweet, and fun to follow.Acting / Cast:The chemistry between Ahn Jin Hyun and J-Min (Minu and Maru) was absolutely phenomenal. They served the perfect blend of angst, tension, and pure cuteness. The teacher couple was also incredibly endearing and brought a refreshing mature dynamic to the show. The acting from these specific couples felt very natural and kept me fully invested.Music / OST:The soundtrack is light, youthful, and fits the university setting well. It does a good job of enhancing the cute, romantic moments between the couples.Rewatch Value:Medium. I probably wouldn't rewatch the entire drama from start to finish, but I will definitely revisit and skip directly to the scenes featuring Minu, Maru, and the teachers!
Idol romance at its finest—flawed but completely lovable! ?✨
Overall:Bump Up Business is a short and incredibly fun watch, especially if you are a K-pop fan. To be completely honest, the acting performance is quite average at times and could have been more polished, but I still absolutely loved this drama! It has a unique charm that keeps you fully entertained, earning a solid 8/10 from me. It’s the perfect show when you want something quick, comforting, and cute.Story:The plot offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the idol industry, focusing on a fake-dating trope to boost popularity. The pacing is very fast since the episodes are short. While some subplots could have used more development, the core romance is sweet and keeps you hooked. It delivers exactly what it promises without unnecessary fluff.Acting / Cast:Since the main cast consists of K-pop idols, the acting can feel a bit stiff or amateurish in certain scenes. However, their real-life bond definitely helped their on-screen dynamic. They have a very natural comfort with each other, and their chemistry grows on you as the story progresses. It’s hard not to root for them!Music / OST:Brilliant! Since it’s an idol drama, the music and performances are a huge highlight. The soundtrack is incredibly catchy, polished, and definitely worth adding to your daily playlist.Rewatch Value:High. Because it’s short and easy to digest, it’s a great option to rewatch on a lazy afternoon when you want a fun, casual binge.
Sexuality, Embrace it atau malah Senjata Makan Tuan❔
Elu gay?, normal! that's how we experience romance and sexual desire. Saotome Ren (sebelum berganti nama jadi Isihara Ren), bocah SMP, kelas 9 (kayaknya), gue yakin dia love at the first sight begitu awal ketemu Takizawa Kazuma, si anak pindahan dari YU ES EII (USA/Amerika).
" (Kanojo ya gess, maksudnya nanyain pacar cewe) bla bla bla dijawab kazuma, terus ditanya lagi "kalau begitu, mau coba melakukan semua itu denganku? " JIAHH dari situ udah jelas bangg kl lu suka ama Kazuma. Tapi rasa takut akan label "gay" dan bagaimana society memandang gay membuat Ren harus mundur alon-alon 😫. Si Takizawa gatauu tuh kalau bestie nya geih. Sampai ketika..
Sampai ketika.. Takizawa Kazuma lagi nungguin Ren di salah satu gang kecil, hujan-hujan lagi. Katanya sih, mereka janjian mau kerkom, kerja kelompok or sesi study with me kalik ya gatau dah mau ngapain intinya Ren yang ngajak Kazuma ke tempat itu dan di pukul berapa semuanya diatur Ren. Eh pas udah nungguin lama, ternyata Ren lagi jalan sama om-om😨. Kazuma nguping pembicaraan mereka, shok dia pas tau mereka mau ke Love Hotel (semacam OYO kalau di indo). dih sumpah jijay gua pas si om-om bilang ke Ren "lu imut banget dek, yakin lu udah umur 17? " (which is obviously Ren belum umur legal, kan masih esempeh). Langsung Kazuma usir tu om om terus basically dia bilang ke Ren "Ayo! lakuin bareng aku aja. apa-apain aku mas" *ihir*.
Langsung deh Ren ditampar sama mama nya Kazuma. *PTAKK*, "JANGAN SAMPE GUA MERGOKIN LU KETEMU SAMA ANAK GUA LAGI!! AWAS LU" kata mamak nya kazuma.
Long story short, setelah insiden itu Ren sekolah ke Perancis, itupun dipaksa bapak dia. maaf spoiler yah tapi intinya bapaknya men-disown/ga nganggep Ren sebagai anaknya lagi (makanya pas gede nama Ren ganti, Saotome itu semacam Marga gitu lah). Nah sedangkan Kazuma balik lagi ke Amerika, sekolah.
10 tahun ga ketemu, fate made them ketemu lagi di Tokyo, the same place as 10 years ago tapi sebagai junior-atasan ditempat kerja.
Ren nyembunyiin masa lalu kelam yang Kazuma belum tahu, makanya Ren cuma mau jadi FWB (friends with benefit). Kazuma kagak tahu menahu tuh kalau Ren masih nanggung rasa sakit yang dia pikirannya. Disini mulai teka teki tentang Ren sedikit demi sedikit dipecahkan sama Kazuma, sekalian nyari ini kemana ni bocah kok ngilang.
in the end, cinta itu tentang bagaimana kita sharing trauma, sharing uneg uneg, sharing pikiran, sharing apapun lah! Love Language nya Kazuma, comforting his love.
MenyesAL aku baru nonton 3 tahun setelah rilisss🤧.
Peak Korean BL comedy with a legendary ship that I miss so much! ?❤️
Overall:Roommates of Poongduck 304 is hands down one of the best and most entertaining Korean BL dramas ever made. It has the perfect balance of comedy, romance, and tension. What truly makes this series elite is the main cast. I miss this ship so incredibly much, and I genuinely hope they will get the chance to star in another drama together in the future. It’s a solid 9.5/10 (or 10/10) comfort show for me!Story:The roommates and office-romance tropes were executed flawlessly. The pacing is fast, energetic, and never leaves room for boredom. The bickering dynamic between the landlord and the tenant, who also happen to be boss and employee, is pure gold. It’s lighthearted, funny, and incredibly satisfying to watch.Acting / Cast:Ji Woong and Seo Bin have an absolutely magical, natural chemistry. They play off each other's energy so well, making both the comedic timing and the romantic tension feel effortless. They truly understood their characters. Even after finishing the show, their dynamic stays with you, which is why so many fans are dying to see them share the screen again.Music / OST:The soundtrack is bright, jazzy, and perfectly matches the urban, upbeat office-romance atmosphere. It adds a lovely layer of fun to the series.Rewatch Value:100%. This is the ultimate comfort binge-watch. It's short, hilarious, and high-quality, making it incredibly easy to rewatch whenever you miss their dynamic.
Intense passion, emotional depth, and absolutely unmatched chemistry! ❤️?
Overall:Don't Say No is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to romance and emotional intensity. What truly makes this drama unforgettable is the explosive chemistry between the main leads. They share a bond that feels incredibly real, passionate, and mature. It easily gets a high rating from me because of how deeply invested I was in their relationship from the very first episode.Story:The story beautifully transitions from friends-to-lovers into a deeper, established relationship. It explores the insecurities, communication struggles, and past traumas of the characters in a very engaging way. The pacing is great, blending sweet comfort with high emotional angst and just the right amount of spice. It keeps you hooked without ever feeling dull.Acting / Cast:Ja and First delivered a spectacular performance. Their on-screen chemistry is pure magic and completely unmatched—they look at each other with so much love and intensity that it makes your heart race. They handled both the highly emotional, vulnerable scenes and the passionate moments effortlessly. The supporting cast, especially the friends and siblings, brought a lovely balance of warmth and humor to the show.Music / OST:The soundtrack is romantic, dramatic, and perfectly timed to elevate the tension during the most passionate or emotional scenes. It adds a great layer to the overall atmosphere.Rewatch Value:Extremely high! Whenever you want to watch a BL with top-tier chemistry, a devoted couple, and a passionate storyline, this is the ultimate drama to revisit.
may not be for those who dont like slapstick comedy!
There are many reasons to watch this kdrama:1. Almost no side plots, it's just the main characters.
2. funny as hell if you love the slapstick comedy
3. FKING AMAZING CHEMISTRY AND ACTING
4. YEARNING AND ANGST
5. YEARNING 2X
5. desperate loserism
6. the villain isn't as strong to the plot imo.
7. You won't lose interest after the kiss 😝
This kdrama perfectly fits the rom-com genre, but it's also quite serious.
Like the female lead is written so well, she isn't a damsel in distress; she is independent, she is brave, yet she has her weak points as well, which makes her a strong character, which is quite rare for female leads in dramas.
And chai se ge is such a different character, even tho he is a ceo, he is rude, arrogant (actually), but he is so damn charismatic!
And he doesn't change after falling in love, speaking of. I LOVEEEEE that they bicker even after falling in love, which I have rarely seen in kdramas. I am a type of person who gives up on a drama after the couple kiss. This drama made me want to watch it till the end, which is a difficult task in rom-com dramas.
Overall, you should definitely watch it.
This kdrama is gonna be one of my favourite rom-coms 😝😝
