A melody of torture

I confess I watched this series out of sheer stubbornness because it had been a long time since I’d seen a show this bad and unbearable. How could a mystery drama starring Book and Force turn into something so bland, lazy, lifeless and devoid of creativity?

GMMTV urgently needs to stop investing in these adult-oriented mystery plots if they have no real interest in fully exploring those narratives.

Melody of Secrets is a patchwork of disjointed storylines leading to an anemic, incoherent resolution. Serial killer, multiple personalities, hypnosis, memory loss, identity fraud, corruption—this series has it all, yet it still manages to be incredibly tedious.

The direction is terrible and I don't think they knew what they are doing, the editing is shockingly amateurish and scenes start and end abruptly. Things happen out of nowhere and information is thrown at the viewer without any prior context.

The soundtrack, the cinematography and even the color grading are dismal, giving the whole thing a low-budget feel.

The relationship between the leads comes out of nowhere and not even Force and Book’s charisma and chemistry can save such aimless, uninteresting characters.

It’s a shame, too, because they clearly have immense potential to shine in a more serious series.

The serial killer—who only kills two people, so not a serial killer —and the entire reveal play out in such a banal way. It’s just a flood of information dumped on the audience without a shred of genuine interest.

The fragments of Botphleng’s true identity could have made for something fascinating; in the hands of a director like Anucha or a studio like Be On Cloud—even though 4 Minutes was a mess, its visuals and atmosphere were incredible—this series could have been truly magnificent.

The plot called for a creative, dark series featuring an unreliable narrator and mounting tension. All that serial killer nonsense adds nothing and just bloats the story with unnecessary plotlines.

And even with so much going on, the pacing is slow and doesn't work. I kept waiting for the big moment but it never came. Extremely disappointing.

it started out great, but then…

I was really enjoying this, but then everything went south. Like, what happened to the plot? the ending felt messy and it was was I hated the most. But I liked how the leads matched each other’s freak, and their chemistry, but that’s about it. I might enjoy watching edits of them on tt but I don’t think I would re watch this.
it says my review must be 500 characters to be able to post ??? this had never happened to me before so I’m writing this down here hoping it will be enough to meet the quota

Who am I without WU?!?!

You say you don't watch anything without romance? I can promise you this is deeper, more heartfelt and far gayer than anything you've ever watched.

The hill I'm willing to die on is that Sky and Nani have better chemistry than your fav bl actors. FIGHT ME.

If its gay af or the craziest friendship I PRAY, this kind of love finds me someday.

It's heartfelt, emotional, beautiful, has the perfect amount of realism that makes you feel seen/heard where it's not to heavy that it pulls you out of the story and makes sad or feel a negative way about anything in your own life. The lighthearted funny moments brings the show and story all together.

It's literally only 9 eps. You are only hurting yourself by not watching this masterpiece.

As a supernatural girl I was going to watch regardless but didn't have high expectations because other than Goddess Bless Your From Death (I have some beef with Khemjira) IMO there hasn't been any good supernaturals shows out lately. I love this spin of heaven, demons and evil. Nothing I've seen done well before.

WATCH IT OR CRY ABOUT IT, EITHER WAY SKYNANI GIRLIES WE WON!!!!!!!!

REAL MEANING OF "MO LI" (THE FIRST JASMINE)

The title means 'never part' and perfectly captures the profound devotion and unshakable bond between two highly traumatized, fiercely intelligent leads who start with separate revenge agendas but become each other's sole anchors. On the surface, Bai Lu plays the traditional role of a noble daughter seeking vengeance for the destruction of her clan's legendary Lishan Academy. But she portrays Ye Li with many hidden layers. Ye Li is plagued by nightmares and trauma from her eight-year exile on Mount Li. She talks to people who aren't there and masks her deep fear with modern, quirky resilience. Her dialogue is a brilliant study in subtext; she rarely says exactly what she means, and her language is always like chess, thinking ten moves ahead. On the other hand, Cheng Lei leaves behind the 'cold but secretly OP' male lead trope. Mo Xiuyao is a heavily traumatized, disabled commander confined to a wheelchair, riddled with survivor's guilt after the massacre of his brother and his army. Cheng Lei delivers a powerhouse performance. He beautifully portrays the raw frustration of physical limitation, bitter self-loathing, and the agonizing restraint required to bow to the Empress Dowager, the very woman responsible for his family's ruin, to maintain national stability.

Furthermore, the romance of The First Jasmine is arguably one of the most rewarding slow-burns in recent C-drama history, as it relies on earned intimacy rather than forced tropes. Ye Li's love language is fundamentally food, a trauma response to her starving years at Lishan. In the early episodes, her way of chipping away at Mu Xiuyao's defensive walls is simply bringing him honey cakes, millet porridge, and lotus cakes. The visual transformation of the Ding Manor from a dark, isolated 'man-cave' to a place of warmth, laughter, and soaring kites is a beautiful representation of their mutual healing. They don't just fight side by side; they quietly piece each other back together. The production doesn't rely on cartoonish, one-dimensional villains. Characters like the Empress Dowager and even the scheming Prince Mo Jingli are driven by understandable, deeply human motivations of self-preservation and fear. The drama asks heavy moral questions: 'When your family has been framed and slaughtered, do you accept the status quo for the sake of the country's peace, or do you burn everything down for justice?" It beautifully anchors this dilemma in traditional philosophy, emphasizing that true justice and state governance must begin with cultivating one's internal character and harmonizing the family first.

However, this drama has a few flaws. Around the midpoint (specifically the Cangbei arc involving Princess Ling Yun and Su Zhi Die), the pacing hits a few speed bumps. The drama occasionally introduces new subplots before entirely wrapping up previous ones, which can cause minor narrative whiplash. Viewers looking for explosive, melodramatic confrontations might find some of the political resolutions a bit flat or quietly intellectual. It is a show that rewards patience and favors tight dialogue over chaotic action.

In conclusion, The First Jasmine is a beautifully directed, cinematic, and thought-provoking masterpiece. With an exceptional, film-like musical score, stunningly restrained acting, and a script that treats its audience with intellectual respect, it is a must-watch for anyone who loves high-stakes political intrigue and deeply mature romance.

Hotel Slice of Life

I got to episode 17 and dropped it and although the acting was great, I am just not interested in the workings of a high end hotel. Yes, it has a strong but soft FL, but it is predominantly about running a top of the line hotel and all the drama about finding a new sheet supplier to dealing with fussy workers and guests. This may have turned romantic in later episodes, but I just did not care wade through countless hotel drama before I could get to it.

Although the FL did have a hard divorce in the first two episodes, there zero romance in these first 17 episodes and I kept holding on hoping that there would be, but it never happened. While it was really good to watch a woman do well, this is more a slice of life in a hotel than a romance. If you are a romance lover like I am, then don't waste your time.

10/10 "Mask Girl": A Work of Uniqueness and Depth

10/10 "Mask Girl": A Work of Uniqueness and Depth
Yo, fellow binge-watchers!
Just want to share my thoughts on this Netflix gem - "Mask Girl." Trust me, this show isn't just your regular popcorn entertainment - it's like a rollercoaster ride for your feels!
Each episode is like a whole new plot, from office craziness to family stuff and a bit of dark humor. But here's the kicker: every character's the star of their own show. You see their side of things.
But what sets "Mask Girl" apart? It's the crazy uniqueness.
This ain't your run-of-the-mill show, It's like a mix of dark and gritty, with Twists. And the way they blend it all? Mind-blowing. Kudos to the writer for coming up with this twisted, mind-boggling concept.

## Críticas a Seung Min

*

10/10 Slow but engaging

10/10 Slow but engaging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is might be bias because I like go minsi, but despite the slow plot in some part of the drama, i find the frog still engaging (you can skip the boring part though). Its been a while until i binge watching drama again, this one is one of it for me.
One thing I think a bit strange is why did the suspicious woman not killing the old man, rather than give the sign that his daughter is the target? And why the old man let the woman stay at his villa again lol. This can be finished by 4-5 episodes only.
But overall frim my pov, i think the sound, the cinematography, the art, and the cast are awesome.

7/10 Too much gratuitous sex, but nice twist ending

7/10 Too much gratuitous sex, but nice twist ending
Started off with a mystery and the premise makes the viewer root for certain characters. The unravelling of the mystery was entertaining to watch because of all the plot twists.
The social injustice narrative became a bit too heavy with the sadistic abuse of the servants, and there never seemed to be any way out. The social injustice narrative became a bit too heavy with the sadistic abuse of the servants, and the tiresome part of it is the fact that there never seemed to be any way out. They all had to endure it because of the poverty back at home, and the seemingly high wages that
"compensated" for the "back-breaking labour." In spite of that explanation, it's hard to believe that money is enough to motivate someone stay at this job when some of the abuse could maim them for life, making it difficult for them to continue earning any income at all.
The acting was quite convincing for the most part, for both sides of villains and protagonists. Thanavate Siriwattanagul, who plays Mawin, stood out for me. The characterization of the servants was quite one-dimensional for all of them, so one cannot say that they had much acting to sell to begin with.
Ending was satisfying, although a bit too fantastical.

10/10 Dalah: Death and the flowers

_Dalah: Death and the Flowers_ is a hauntingly poetic Thai mystery series that blends murder, femininity, and floral symbolism into a slow-burning psychological thriller. Set against the backdrop of high society, the story follows Dalah, a reserved florist with a shadowy past, who becomes entangled in a murder investigation after a bride is found dead on her wedding day. What sets this series apart is its unique approach-Dalah doesn't solve crimes with forensic tools or detective instincts, but through her deep knowledge of flowers, each bloom revealing secrets, motives, and emotional undercurrents.
The show's atmosphere is rich and deliberate, with every frame meticulously composed like a bouquet-beautiful, but with thorns. The pacing is slow, almost meditative, which may test the patience of viewers used to fast-paced thrillers, but for those who appreciate visual storytelling and layered symbolism, it's a rewarding experience. The all-female creative team brings a distinct voice to the narrative, exploring themes of revenge, justice, and societal expectations through a distinctly feminine lens. Urassaya Sperbund's performance as Dalah is quietly magnetic, her stoicism masking a complex emotional landscape that gradually unfolds.
While some plot points feel over-explained and a few scenes lean into melodrama, the series compensates with its originality and emotional depth. It's not just a whodunit-it's a meditation on grief, power, and the secrets people bury beneath beauty. _Dalah: Death and the Flowers_ may not be for everyone, but for those drawn to atmospheric storytelling and unconventional heroines, it's a floral noir worth watching.

10/10 When Intelligence Becomes a Dangerous Game

Bad Genius: The Series brilliantly expands the concept of the hit movie into a deeper, more intense, and emotionally layered story. What begins as clever exam cheating quickly transforms into a high-risk operation where intelligence, pressure, and greed collide.
The series does an excellent job of developing its characters, showing how academic stress, family expectations, and social inequality push students to cross moral boundaries. Each exam sequence is crafted like a thrilling heist, filled with sharp planning, suspense, and consequences that keep you hooked throughout.
Beyond the thrills, the series raises powerful questions about fairness in education and the price of success. The performances are strong, the pacing is engaging, and the tension never fades.
A smart, gripping, and thought-provoking series that proves knowledge can be both a gift and a curse.

Kangen Lin Bingchen :(

Pantesan MDL nyebut ni series itu sebagai "SPIN-OFF", bukan lanjutan/musim/season 2. (kalian tonton dulu series "Black & White is Real biar bisa paham sama plot series ini)

Ada banyak plot-hole divertical series ini. Jujur gw lebih suka ini jadi continuous story-nya Bai Xing & Hei Yan aja alias B&W tetep jadi pemeran utama, nah side plot tentang Xiaoan dan langkah move on nya dia dari almarhum/mendiang Lin Bingchen itu mending jadi cerita sampingan beserta side role se-ding yuting yang GJ bgt itu.

Anggeplah gw pembenci DIng Yuting, tapi emang faktanya dia ni GJ banget cok. iya boleh kok lu ngejer cinta lu tapi NGGAK dengan cara MEMAKSA ya!!! Xiaoan kan imut imut cutesy masa di-forced-kiss sama Ding Yuting berkali-kali! gw itung uda ada 3 kali cok. emang kalian nyaman kalo tiba-tiba ada bocil lebih muda 10 tahun dari lu trus nyomot bibir lu ga pake izin/consent dari lu? Pemerkosaan cok ini namanya. Sinting Yuting ni kurasa. dah kena psikisnya.

Dari awal gw uda skeptis ini gimana caranya mereka build-up story dari nol lagi, soalnya ternyata Xiaoan ditinggal meninggal sama Lin Bingchen dan harus memulai new love story dengan yuting yg GJ itu. nggg mksd gw tuh andai kata Lin Bingchen masi idup kan enak, mending sama Bingchen, Bingchen ama Xiaoan uda kayak kucing X anjing (wataknya), dalam artian, mereka tuh cocokk, serasi banget. Tapi they did him dirty disini. udahlah scene yang ada bingchen nya cuman 1 (itupun scene replay dari Black & White is Real, kirain gw scene baru tentang "sisi lain" Bingchen sebelum dia meninggal), yang pas xiaoan mikir "kok yuting ada mirip2 nya sama bingchen ya?" terus berkali kali xiaoan kesannya kayak ngutuk bingchen soalnya udah ninggalin dia ke afterlife duluan.... maksud guehh emg di kulltur mereka ngga ada budaya mendoakan orang meninggal? ada kan?, yang foto mendiang dipajang diatas/dibelakang sesajen terus kita duduk doain pake lilin batang merah yang dihidupin api nya itu. bisa loh mereka bikin xiaoan ikhlas terus doain bingchen tapi nyatanya nggak.

Dari situ gw masih, okelah masih bisa ditolerir tapi pas scene Bai xing & Hei Yan menikah, dan semua pemeran pendukung dari Black & White is Real tiba tiba balik lagi, gw makin sedih cok ngga ada LIN BINGCHEN!!!! huhu :( padahal tanpa Lin Bingchen mungkin Hei Yan ga akan bisa tuh dapet project bareng Bai Xing yg akhirnya bisa pacaran sama Bai Xing. Lin Bingchen tuh udah paket komplit satu kesatuan dari universe B&W! Tanpa Lin BIngchen, mungkin Hei Yan ga bisa ketemu sutradara yang ngizinin Hei Yan buat sesuka hati dia switch partner dari yang awalnya harusnya bareng si Sasha tiba tiba dia ganti ke Bai Xing. Yang terus tiba-tiba Bingchen ngamuk ke Hei Yan via telepon tuh. tu semua iconic bgt cok literally Bingchen itu udah mendarah daging jadi pelengkap kisah B&W!! eh malah pas Bai Xing & hei Yan nikah malah ngga ada tuh sama sekali nyebutin tentang almarhum/mendiang Bingchen! gw tau Bingchen udah di kick dari dunia ini tapi at least harusnya mereka berterima kasih dong, tanpa Bingchen juga belom tentu Hei Yan bisa ketemu Bai Xing lagi setelah bertahun-tahun dia sekolah ke luar negeri. Ini yang bikin script nya mabok apa pas nulis hah?? gw ga pernah se-niat ini bikin kritik cuman buat drama VERTICALLLL. biasanya drama vertical lain tuh ceritanya ga masuk akal semua makanya gw maklumin, tapi diantara Black & White is Real sama Love is Real tuh level nya uda kayak drama horizontal, ceritanya bisa melekat diotak gw sampe gw ungkapin uneg uneg gw kek gini.

au ah intinya story nya drama ini jelek, cuma terbantu scene nya Bai Xing & Hei Yan aja. OST nya aja masih sama alias numpang ketenaran black & white is real. Yuting ni jujur hot bgt dia tp kelakuan dia buruk bgt, dah lost interest gw ama dia. dia ni ada potensial jadi pelaku KS cok. nggateli banget njing
