The best BL onAir

This drama is worth to watch and to wait every week for new episodes.
The strory is different from other BL's because it's not just a romantic plot of the main characters but it has also has another story thaf makes this drama more interesting to watch.
The story, the colour scheme , the chemistry, etc..
I think the director and the actors are doing really amazing jobs for this drama.
Can't wait for the next episodes.

I've rewatched this series 17 times!

I absolutely loved this series! I’m usually not a fan of shows with multiple couples because, in my opinion, it often means that none of the relationships are explored deeply enough. But *Perfect 10 Liners* really surprised me in the best way.
Not only did it manage to keep me emotionally invested, but it also became a great way for me to discover new BL couples. I especially enjoyed getting to know PerthSanta and JuniorMark, they really caught my attention.
I had already followed some of ForceBook’s previous projects, so it was nice to see them again, but this series made me appreciate a wider range of pairings and performances. Overall, it turned out to be a much more engaging and satisfying experience than I expected.

i loved this drama so so so much but one thing i regret so much that they didn't include any romantic scene between kim do ki and Ahn go young. i really hoped till the last episode for their dating news but nooo they just remained coworkers although they's clearly more than that!! 😭😭 but but the last story specifically the ending was mediocre... it wasn't mind blowing as the rest of the drama at all. but anyway it was a good watch altogether.

Something of a fable, or a morality tale, with its sparse story and characters who represent values - all the virtues belong to one king, all the vices to another. War, ego, governance, expenditure and how women are treated all have their moments in this.

Jaunty, jovial western music as the soundtrack seems an odd choice for going off to war from today's point of view. The pieces do bring energy to their scenes, a different way of accomplishing with a few cameras what takes many (and a lot of editing) today. I kept thinking the extras must have had fun filming this, with all the running around and shouting.

Moments of surprising humour some of which were clearly intentional, like that song quote.

How much history is in this? There were several rulers given the epithet "King of the White Elephant". It's located to a specific year (1540 CE), king (Chatra) and cities (Ayodhya and Kanburi), but the flattening of the two kings into vice and virtue complicates that. Is it fair to read an undercurrent of chauvinistic nationalism into that binary? Residual (maybe even nurtured) trauma from Burmese invasions still lingering, more recent anxieties and difficulties finding their way out through this, or simply fodder for this and other movies? The King of Ayutthaya in 1540 was not all virtue en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chairachathirat

Or was 1540 easy, because it was a tidy 400 years earlier? Long enough ago to become part of malleable mythic memory.

I have so many questions =D

THE PLOT

I haven't read the novel, so I have no idea how this story will end and honestly, that's what I love the most about it. There's something so exciting about not being able to predict anything. Usually, by the third episode, you already have a sense of where the story is going or how it might end, but this series keeps me guessing in the best way possible.
I really enjoy the flashbacks to their college days, they add so much depth and emotion, helping me understand who the characters were and how they've changed over time. It makes everything feel more real and meaningful.
So far, Pobmek's character has been explored more deeply, and I've grown really interested in him. But I'm especially curious about Solar/Sun, I can't wait to learn more about his story and see what he's been through.

Fun watch but not as well-rounded as I would've liked

This review is a bit more critical of the c-drama's character-choices and plot mostly, so beware.

I thoroughly enjoyed some parts of the series and liked a few characters (i.e., Lingbo, Lingbo's mother, Yuzhi- although his character was slightly bland-, and Cai Zhao's initial character)

Generation to Generation started off as a very promising c-drama: a light-hearted, ambitious girl comes across a mysterious angsty boy who has just lost his father and they team up to defeat the antagonists. I loved their dynamic and characterisation until about the 12th episode mark, where it was revealed Chang Ning was Mu Qingyan. After this transition, the male lead lost much of what made him unique, and he turned into another one of those typical, powerful, possessive Wuxia male leads. His loss and revenge arc was unfortunately thrown out in favour of the romance story, which also seemed promising as first, but then just deteriorated later on. I loved their initial interactions, the way that Mu Qingyan was closed off at first, and Cai Zhao kept penetrating his social barrier, kept forcing him to confront the world. I especially loved the scene in the garden, where she tells himthat she will protect him- it really felt like there was true, human emotion there.

But then... of course, after Chang Ning --> Mu Qingyan, both the main characters were constantly restricted by each other. We never got to see Cai Zhao become the amazing leader she could've been because of Mu Qingyan's forcing her to stay with him and we never got to see Mu Qingyan conquer his own demons because he was constantly obsessed with Cai Zhao. We only saw this kind of toxic back and forth, cat and mouse game.

In regards to the plot, the first twenty or so episodes solely dealt with the Jianghu side of things- the Ziwei method, the man in black, the jade sunflower, etc. I had no problem with this plot, it was pretty well done, but then it just halted after Cai Zhao and Mu Qingyan's romance took the spotlight. This felt very weird and I feel that the writers should have just continued the way they were going instead of trying to exaggerate their love story. They should've kept the love-story in the background. By the way, it wasn't even better than what the original plot was doing: it was literally just Cai Zhao trying to run away from Mu Qingyan and the latter always pulling her back. This would've been an okay, albeit toxic and dark, shift, but there was no self-awareness of the fact that Mu Qingyan was literally evil for not leaving Cai Zhao when she was forced to choose between him and her sect, family, and friends. To me, it just proved that he didn't love her enough to genuinely think about her feelings and her life, and more-so wanted to possess her like an object. The male lead was idealised for this behaviour and we were being conditioned into accepting that he truly loves her, which is the BIGGEST issue with this. I'm all for dramas that deal with toxic relationships, broken people, imperfect leads, etc, only not when said toxic relationships and behaviour is idealised and looked upon as perfection. Characters are supposed to be messy, yes, they're supposed to be flawed, but the way Mu Qingyan was flawed was not at all helping his character or raising awareness.

The rest of the characters were mostly fine, I just would've liked to see more development- Lingbo goes through a pretty solid development arc, she became exactly what I envisioned her character to be in the end. Yuzhi was also a good character (more tolerable than the male lead), but I wish the writers could've made his character face more internal conflict and tension than just admitting his feelings for Cai Zhao. Like perhaps there could've been some grey area for him to deal with in regards to his brother and the heir of his sect.

I also wanted to discuss the camera-work and editing real quick. The way scenes were shot, cut, edited, the way that the characters and their emotions were displayed through camerawork could've been better, and the reason why I'm mentioning this is because I feel that it had an important role in allowing the audience to connect with the characters. There were some scenes where I wished the camera-angle, or the opening shot, or the focus on certain aspects of the set, would've been a little different, just so I could see the actors' emotions, and consequently, feel what they were feeling. But it was just slightly lack-lustre and did affect the overall watching-experience.

In terms of re-watch value, I would stick to a one-time watch only. Perhaps, one day, I may go back and rewatch only the first ten or so episodes and pretend that Cai Zhao and Mu Qingyan's story ended differently to how it did, but not anytime soon.

The rating is 7.4, the reviews are 9s… Looks good to me!

You will know in the first fifteen minutes if this drama is for you and you will either sink into it or find it unutterably boring. I’m of the first category. I love Japanese art-house style. Restrained, delicate, beautiful and all happening under the surface. The slow unfolding of the conversation, with long pauses into which you fall.

Written by a man it explores the territory of intimacy using the relationships of one woman, Ayana, with multiple others, mostly men. But this is about distance between people as much as it is about closeness. What makes us feel comfortable in a relationship. Why seemingly good people are not a compatible match. The reasons why relationships may include or avoid sex. It’s a 360 on relationships.

Each episode examines a separate relationship dynamic that Ayana has had over the past ten or so years. As she tries to work out what it is that she wants, and how the preceding relationships affect the future ones. She is exploring herself through the contact she has with others.

All the men seem to inhabit a similar sphere. None of them are hard core go getters or tsundere they are very unremarkable people, as is she. That is not a criticism or a dismissive comment, rather, a description of the type of people that are explored in the drama.

Having muted characters gave a sameness to the interactions. The conversations were all at the same pace and in many ways delivered in the same way. But there were different undercurrents that caught you up in them. The script stays very close to life, with long pauses and at times has the feel of a structured improvisation. The slowly unfolding conversations allow space to reflect on yourself as well as understand the characters. The difficulties/tensions hang in the air and are not rushed. There is very little visible emotion, no wailing, just internalised feelings.

Don’t expect a lot of plot and the order of the episodes is non-chronological. Although it adds a little mystery, as in wanting to understand why she is as she is, I did find it a little confusing. Mainly because you are following an emotional development and the backstory often meant that you were unsure where on her journey Amala was at that particular moment. I can understand perhaps why they did it this way, as we do not reflect on our life sequentially, fragments mean different things at different times.

Amala is a novelist. As a writer I found it interesting that all of her stories were very directly based on herself and her relationships Almost retelling reality. This is not the case for most writers, who deliberately and proudly create their own characters, even if they may have some traits of a real person. But here, in the drama, it seemed as though it was being used deliberately to blur the lines between reality and fiction, truth and imagination, desire and fact.

In true art-house style, the drama uses mood as the narrative device. Emotions are hinted at rather than revealed. There is a scene at an onsen where Amala both smiles and cries in a long direct stare into the camera, allowing the audience to participate in the incompatible blend of emotions that she is experiencing.

These long-held camera shots are the signature of the drama. Filmed by a largely static camera which often concentrates on faces and expressions. The lack of camera movement adds to the almost profound stillness of the narrative. Music is used sparsely if at all, and long silences hang in the air. The only thing that I found annoying, was the abrupt cut to black between scenes. Somehow the black emphasised the change and left me feeling even more hung out to dry. Especially if it was an intense scene in which I had become immersed. Like most of them…

I liked the performances and felt that the director and the cast managed to create a cohesive feel for the drama as a whole. This was not necessarily easy in a drama where most scenes have just two people in them and the cast does very little ensemble acting.

Overall I really liked this drama, and found it immersive and thought provoking.

It's hard to give this a low score when I went to a great deal of trouble to find a copy of it to watch ! The acting was fine. Alot of the comedy : like the multiple shirt ripping/exposing man's chest instances, didn't work for me. For an older movie though, it really brought the creep factor. They do the ghost suddenly in your face really well. I'm not a fan of horror or thrillers & going into this, I had thought that it would be milder on the thriller/creepy side . So the level of creepy influenced my lower rating. I was glad that it had a happy ending, but it wasn't 100% of a warm fuzzy hit because it was contrived, not (completely) chosen. I was dismayed that the male lead only agrees to call his current girlfriend when she threatens to not sleep with him. So, I shouldn't have been (but I was) shocked when 3/4 of the way through the movie the female lead says what she wants to do as a new couple is to have the big 0 (which it's implied they pursue off screen & without further comment). For some reason I was expecting this (as an older movie) to be more innocent & less scary/creepy. So lower score for unrealistic expectations !
Also, a small thing, but some of the music was odd & the song that played at the end (before the credits) was really really weird !!

My first 2026 series, actually.........

I’m honestly confused about why this series received a higher rating than Hi By My Luck. Maybe people are just really starved for this kind of theme, even though there are already so many similar stories out there.

Don’t get me wrong. I genuinely loved their chemistry. I’ve never seen them paired together before, but their presence alone was enough to keep me from dropping the series (which I’ve done with plenty of others this year). There’s just something about them that made it hard to look away.

At the same time, though, I felt like something was missing. I kept wanting more, like more depth, more emotional payoff, but the series never quite delivered that for me.

I guess I’ll have to watch their upcoming project just to satisfy that lingering hunger.

Not everyone will like the ending.

I like the concept of time travel the leads acting were amazing, and supporting actors were also amazing in this drama there was everything like life , romance, freedom from past , family bonding, friendship everything was equally balanced but there was a thing that if the morden day xiaolan goes to different time space not her past so where is 1983 xiaolan is the drama they didn't showed that she died or anything if it was just a dream of xiaolan from 2026 than the ending should not like that .
It's not that I don't like the drama ,
zhou ye is one of favourite actress I have watched her every drama this drama's story was good but it got me confused if it's based on time travel it should have given some clarity
In this drama only the ending disappointed me they should have given more episodes for modern world cause it was her real world .
[ I am not a hater of zhou ye just giving my opinion with what I have watched in all episodes 🥰.]
Thank you for reading my review I only write honestly not FAVOURITISM ❤️ 🪷 ⏰

Wow. Intense

I wasn't sure what to think about this one after 1st episode. I knew it would be dark, and the filming is like a black/white noir style. A lot going on, that at first doesn't seem connected, but slowly starts building and before you know it you are hooked. The acting is top notch. If you like psychological thrillers... definitely put on watch list.

Natural ,fun , heartwarming! Perfect spring romcom

So i finished this drama few days back and let me tell you its been a while since i was in a slump and this drama turned out to be the perfect fluff romcom that I needed . The concept was quite fun , the performances even better. The whole virtual reality gaming stuff is so relatable since we all look forward to an escape from the world and those who have played such rpg / simulation/ otome visual novel/ choices games they'll thoroughly enjoy it ! The cameos indeed were the major attraction and being a kdrama fan , it was exciting to our beloved stars making an entry . The chemistry btw the leads felt natural and that enemies to lovers dynamic with a hintof twist ws endearing . I liked Jisoo's acting in this i don't know why some people were saying she overacted ,like i have been watching k dramas since a decade now and she was perfect as a romcom main lead .Seo in guk made me fall in love with his ever so amazing work . I love the camaraderie between the office staff. You are bound to laugh in almost every episode . One of the side characters i really enjoyed was lee ji yeon played by Ha Young , she was savage in last few episodes . Some people were complaining about the slow paced relationship within the leads , I myself didn't have any complaints since it was only obvious that they'll progress slowly and acc to me the misunderstanding part was essential and was resolved within a good time frame , i wont be going into too much detailing about that part since it'll be a spoiler .Since it was only 10 episodes, they managed to pull the story line properly without unnecessary drags or rushing things . All in all this has easily become on of my favourite light hearted dramas!
