It’s not bad but its not good just realistic
I’ve seen the many bad reviews for the show saying that it got boring or it just wasn’t giving what it was supposed to get or that it was insulting but honestly it was realistic. There are many situations where its the man fault but the 2 women hate each other and fight each other, thats the reality. No one likes seeing 2 women put each other down over a man but then again things like this actually happen and i feel like thats what people are upset aboutThe part where Dr.Cha rejects Roy is unfortunately also the reality. In every kdrama everyone gets a happy ending and the ending that was for the best but Dr.Cha ending was pretty happy, it showed that she was back on track to enjoying her life. Originally after the first surgery she was trying to enjoy her life but she found out about her husband cheating and that took a turn, however, after the second surgery you can see she is really dedicated to living her own life. Like yes it wouldve been nice for Roy and her to be together but then again its also best for dr cha to put herself first.
last thing im going to mention is the fact that the husband was upset at her for working because he was having an affair and he thinks that she should be a stay at home mom is also unfortunately realistic as there are indeed some men who act like this in real life. There are some men who are just selfish and only care for themselves but that is something only they can change, you cant force yourself to try to change a person if they arent willing to admit their mistakes and change themselves

The mask
Truly inconspicuous! The drama made me mentally and physically drained and exhausted with each single episode from the ridiculous godly amount of insane lousy shouting. I went to an ENT doctor and he told me I needed a new brain transplant since the old one was incapable to perceive any type of sensory stimuli. Huh. This drama was the equivalent of a nagging little spoiled brat roaming around you non-stop for no purpose other than seeing you losing your sanity or equivalent to a fleet of mosquitos determined to penetrate you as the last human left with suckable blood. What I'm trying to say, if the director was really entranced by vibrating vocal cords then he should've brought a real man to do the job. On a small side note, I find this period and setting of Japan/Korea to be the worst to watch through any media. They "almost" don't know how to go on about it. I can count a few rare exceptions on one hand. Was this review helpful to you?

A queen
The narration and its subsequent transitions were overdone and jarring. Regardless of the historical accuracy, everything was portrayed and delivered as poorly as possible to maximize the trashiness and spitefulness, guaranteeing to make you hate the palace power-struggle themed dramas just a little bit more. This was a very painful and redundant 60 episodes. There was a big massive disconnect of the characters' writing after the timeskip. The awful OST the drama didn't help enduring its journey. With the ridiculous overdramatization of the last 5-6 episodes, the drama reached its ultimate clown status. I pity those who had to endure this drama serializing weekly. Was this review helpful to you?

Dog of war
They shouldn't have had made Wol Ah / An Shim be played by the same actress regardless of their intent to have have them share resemblance to one another. Wol Ah had her own role and was a turning point in the story. Since An Shim came to the picture, up until the end she was nothing but Wol Ah's replacement and had no real character. The drama, unsurprisingly, shared a common problem with others of the same genre. The drama started with the backstory and the hero journey but later on it striped the personal attachments and turned it into a battlefield between nations instead of mixing both elements together. It got turned around the other way back and forth 4 more times, making each transition more jarring than the last. This is why there was a massive disconnect after the timeskip in the early second 1/3. In addition, the last 15 episodes were too long to endure. Was this review helpful to you?

The great bore
The first paragraph of the synopsis felt like and turned out to be a big copium moment to whoever wrote it. The first couple of episodes started with a big bang, big sets, big budgets, a few sex scenes here and there, a casual killing for the sake of it, and a god awful laughable open mouth kissing scene. It was obvious they were trying to pull all the strings to attract viewers because none of that lasted shortly after. The cast performance was attractive at first before they turned into generic soulless zombies right after the first half. In fact, the second half in general was a significant downgrade in all regards. It was almost incomparable to the first half. It became as dull as you can imagine without any "character" left in these characters. They stripped every ounce of character from Ji Sung. The trend continued towards the end since it ended abruptly, I refuse to believe this was planned. When zooming out and looking into the drama as a whole, nothing seems to be properly planned from the beginning. Was this review helpful to you?

Shocks a plenty
Dec 2023Well! I knew S2 would be very different to S1. For a start they'd left Green Home Apartments and there were fewer characters than when S1 started out.
I found ep1 of S2 to be quite shocking at times (especially the monster and then its baby scene ~ I found it really upsetting). I wondered whether they might be going for the shock factor over the plot/story.
However, it did not get any worst and the story was portrayed as well as in S1.
There is a time jump after several episodes, which was needed to move the story forward without exceeding the number of eps they appear to have decided on.
Why have they split it again, with a S3 scheduled for summer 2024?... ??♀️ Seeing as it was filmed at the same time, I just find it irritating, tbh. Spoils the flow too.
S2 introduces us to lots of new characters (we did lose a lot in S1), familiar faces and not a few surprises.
Song Kang's character, Hyun-soo, is not the focal character and missing from a number of episodes, but I think that fits (not to everyone's liking, I've read).
The human beings in this run, are worst overall, than in S1, to me. Some truly horrible characters and I more often than not, find myself on the side of the 'monsters' that have also retained some of their humanity.
As usual all are tarred with the same brush, which really is just like real life.
Many of the soldiers overreact and the levels of violence in their treatment of both people and monsters, is sickening.
There is no compassion or feelings that these were people once. Many seem almost gleeful in the act of stamping down on defenseless and weaker targets.
However, I thought it a captivating watch, even though it was emotionally hard going at times and could also be frustrating.
Left on a really surprising cliff hanger ~ again.
Is it as good as S1?.... it isn't far off, but I thought S1 was more atmospheric; it felt more claustrophobic and threatening, especially with the possibility of people turning at any moment. There was less of that this time around.
I liked most of the OST, but it didn't impact the same as in S1.
To really judge the story though, all the series needs watching, so...
Looking forward to S3!

Sun embracing the moon
What even was that?! I would have rather gotten lost in a liminal space than watching this. The entire portion of the plot involving the kids was absurd and uncomfortable. They had no idea how to structure the narrative with the kids which led to a handful of subsequent problems that couldn't be fixed. About 80% of the drama was wasted on a single weak point of tension. The longer runtime made the tension even weaker. The following events didn't matter for how little investment the viewers have had in the first place. While the cast was mostly okay, Han Ga In didn't feel right in this drama. Was this review helpful to you?

Arararang
Well, this was a painful watch to get through. The comedy was genuinely bad and the jokes were godawful. What made it even much worse was the terrible background music of these "comedic" scenes. It killed me slowly bit by bit with every attempted joke. The long runtime drove me insane. Just like any other drama with a similar formula, the story doesn't move until the last few episodes. The story itself was weak and padding it with comedic relief characters and side stories wasn't feasible to begin with. The cast performance was fine but they didn't have much to work with in the first place. Was this review helpful to you?

Jang Hyuk can't bring miracles
Unfortunately, Jang Hyuk playing the same character he played in The Slave Hunters (2010) and that alone was problematic in that one. Unlike The Slave Hunters (2010), this one had a lot of interesting ideas and plot threads but they never reached their full potentials because it came at the cost of shoving flashy fantasy elements instead of keeping it grounded to reality, a case in point super-swordsmen flying and dashing. On the other hand, the "deep roots" plot was a massive clusterfuck of bullshit and was its weakest part. Not only that, the final battle/fight that we were anticipating for so long turned out to be quick, short and utterly disappointing. The ending isn't even surprising, it was obvious from the first episode that the ending will certainly flop. Add to the fact this type of ending was the dominant trend in 2000s/2010s, especially with project that managed to have a good viewership. Was this review helpful to you?

Good cop, bad cop
Not enough "duo" action when taking into consideration the 32 episodes runtime. I don't feel the drama managed to accomplish anything with its story. The entire drama was structured around the duo but we barely got a few "duo" moments. Their paths don't intertwine as often as you might think. On the other hand, I found the romance quite problematic. It overshadowed big parts of the story and ruined some plots more often than not. Love interests and romance rivalry were two poor elements the drama tried desperately and continuously to shove in our faces. Of course, the ending was terrible as expected. Was this review helpful to you?

Jang Hee Bin - The cursed
Any intimate scenes were hilarious to watch from any point of view, even from 1995. As if watching 2 animatronics getting physically close to each other. The first half of the drama was okay but the second one was a mess, it was all over the place. Once other sides started to intervene and the scope went beyond Jang Hee Bin, the drama became a generic palace power struggle royalty bullshit. The king portrayal probably the worst performance out of all the characters. The actor 'Im Ho' looks like a cartoon character when he gets angry. Amateur actors will bring more to the table than him. No wonder why he barely gets low tier main roles and the rest is between support and guest roles. I wonder why this drama managed to get 3 remakes. It would be interesting to see the 2002 version since the cast looks more appealing. The Jang Ok Jung (2013) remake was equally as problematic as this one. Maybe Jang Hee Bin as a historical character is cursed to be portrayed in any media. Was this review helpful to you?

The best Korean drama I've ever watched
Actually, the first time I watched this drama was when I was 12 years old (now I'm 19 years old), then I forgot the entire contents of the story. But then I watched it again at the age of 16 and after that I always watched this drama over and over again.I don't know which part I like the most, because all the scenes have been my favorite for a long time. I like how the actors give their best to their dramas so it makes me like this drama even more, everything they want to convey can be accepted by my heart. I like the beautiful places they show, it makes me realize that South Korea has many places like heaven.
I don't know what else to say, but, I really really like this drama. I hope that when I get old I will still be able to re-watch this drama. I really like this.

waste of my time and braincells and for what
started great with good potential, ended up being more and more dissapointing each ep that passed until the final ep was in no other words, trash.overall left me with a sense of having wasted my time for 12 weeks. the writing was shit, mewtop was boring as fuck, and the acting in dramatic and emotional (crying) scenes of some actors was cringe im sorry, things i cant say in twitter because they will doxx me and kill my entire family bc you can't possibly have an opinion there.
in addition, ray's addiction problem was dismissed completely??? they could've used it as a major plot device and give proper representation of mental health issues but no, lets just forget about it like its some personality trait and not something that could kill you .
in my opinion, this should've been a series that centered on sandray and sandray alone with bostonnick and cheumapril as 2 side couples. no shade to forcebook im sure theyre amazing people but they should take acting classes i dont mean any wrong with this.
in conclusion, if you're planning on watching this dont waste your time and watch last twilight or i feel you linger in the air as a substitute for a thai bl series, you'll thank me later.

A light and fluffy female lead surrounded by flowers in the hair, flower in the air and flower embroideries, Flowers, smiles and fluff everywhere meets the red and black darkness of the other female lead... opposites attract with a twist of sheets and twist of fait all in less than 4 minutes. Impressive! Was this review helpful to you?
