Love (featuring Marriage and Divorce) 3 (2022) – it was a whirlwind drama, I don't know what to say about this drama but I felt satisfied with how the original wives got their revenge somehow. Kinda absurd that they put the fantasy genre in the story and it made the drama nonsense. I just laugh at myself to seeing how the drama turned out to be. I would still watch the season 4 somehow since this drama didn't really have the final closure that I would have wanted.

Some of the original actors have also been replaced so somehow got confused at first and it really did affect the drama overall since the vibe is somehow different from the previous seasons.

Unveiling the Beauty of Imperfection in You Are My Spring

Sometimes when I am looking for a drama to watch I occasionally meet some hidden gems like "A Poem a Day", "A Piece of Your Mind", etc. These do not have a really complex plot like you usually see in nowadays hyped drama, and also do not include heart-aching love stories which are just made too complex in the hope of getting more audience. Rather these dramas are like a slow song that you listen to when you want to relax, when you want to look at the world yet not get lost in it when you want to think yet want to feel positive about it, and so is "You Are My Spring". This drama centers around various psychological issues that people face in their lives, it shows the negatives as well as positives of life in a way that in itself gives you a really nice perspective on how to look at the world, how to look at people and how to look at situations.
Mostly all the characters in this drama have one or the other problems that they are struggling with or they have psychological issues due to the different pent-up emotions that they have. It is one of those rare dramas where you will love not just ML and FL but nearly all the characters, despite what they are facing or what they have faced they all are really nice people, especially the friends of ML and FL. These friends care for each other, fight for each other, stay for each other, and even leave for each other. Of course, ML and FL are still the best characters in the drama who to me seemed like 2 nearly perfect beings who have their set of flaws yet are one of the best pairs you will find. Both have the habit of shouldering everyone's difficulties onto themselves, they go out of their way to help other people and are both selfless. Here I was most intrigued by the ML in this drama due to how well his character was written off, you can clearly see that it wasn't a plot armor or magic, he was just really good at being a psychiatrist who had so much knowledge that he was as perfect as if he can see someone's past, present and future when he saw someone which was always backed by evidence and drawn from his experience.
If you like dramas like how I have mentioned above then please watch this one you will not be disappointed, you can take my word for that. It will not only make you interested in watching one episode after the other, it might become one of the stories which stay with you for life.

Good beginning, laggy middle, decentish happy ending.

TLDR: Good beginning, laggy middle, decentish happy ending.
Favorite couple: Snake (Shi Zi Xun) x Cat (Wang Lu Qing).
Pet Peeve: ML's (Chen Zhe Yuan) werewolf makeup is amazing except for his slapped-on elf ears. Why didn't they put makeup on those? He is gorgeous but those ears don't match his skin tone at all.

The beginning episodes are trope gold. They hit every trope and respond to them in a comedically predictable way. It's almost as if they are making fun of the tropes they are embodying. This goes on for a while, and it's great. You get secret passages, yakety sax chases, cross-dressing, and more.

But then, things start to get very redundant around episode 16. The tropes were funny, but the plot isn't progressing. The entire show is centered on the ML & FL romance. There is a rebellion brewing, but it gets very minimal attention. (All of the "investigations" end quickly or are completed off-screen.) Liu Jun repeatedly suggests telling the FL/queen the truth, and Kui Mulang gives lame excuses each time. Meanwhile, the FL is stuck on the same goal without any character growth. Everything feels stagnant. The side couples' adorable romances were not enough to save the laggy plot. I fast-forwarded through most of episodes 16-22.

Episodes 22-30 contain most of the important plot pieces that should have been scattered throughout the show. The more you think about it, the more you're left scratching your head. So many missed opportunities to build up characters, especially the villains. On top of that, there are so many plot holes and unnecessary time jumps. While the ending is happy, it's weird. (Like, how did the costume team manage to put Chen Zhe Yuan in an ugly suit? Why didn't they brush his hair?)

The best part of the ending was Liu Jun & Hong Xiu getting together. They had amazing chemistry, and their kiss was the best in the show. I want to see more of Shi Zi Xun and Wang Lu Qing.

Just all over the place

The premise of what is basically the main conflict is a head scratcher that veers off in all these different directions. The reveal at the end or rather the subterfuge that was revealed in the end was a weird choice.

The ML and SL were very hard for me to distinguish for a long time and both have a bit too much smugness to be likeable.

Park Ji Hu was a bit wasted in this series. Wallowing in self pity is not a good look. She's too talented for that.

To me the best part is the captain, I cared about her the most.

they made it so complicated that it ended up not making any sense

the cast and their acting was amazing but i'm gonna be very honest and say, the story just got worse and worse as the episode went by. they made it so complicated by making the main couple and even the psycho killer be able to time travel. the romantic scenes lost its spark for me because 99% of the time i didnt know who's who. it icks me to think that junhee (or was it minju? lol) might be kissing somebody else that isnt her lover which to be frank at episode 10 i dont even know anymore if it was yeonjun or siheon that she fell inlove with in the first place. i get it that maybe they were going for the "even if we're two worlds apart we will find each other and love each other" trope thats why both junhee (minju) and siheon (yeonjun) can time travel but when it was revealed that the psycho killer can time travel too and on top of that chan hui wasnt actually the killer but actually it was chanyeong his little brother who happens to look exactly the same as chan hui even if they arent twins???? jesus christ its all just nonsense at that point. anyway, the ost gather my tears by seo jiwon was good tho, i loved it. also, i didnt watch the taiwanese version so this opinion is solely based and about the korean one.

A triumph of love over hate

In this case, my utter HATRED of the "kindergarten kismet" trope. When I saw that this Drama was built on exactly that trope, I assumed I would hate the Drama. But, it triumphed, and I loved it.

What I loved was that it played with the trope, mocking it, analysing it, and teasing the viewer until the final episode as to whether the trope would come true. The side couple were well done, the bar owner's arc especially lending some real emotional warmth and depth to the light frothy sweetness of the main storyline.

Another big plus was the short length. Four hours total runtime was just right, no angst or pathos padding out a longer series.

Recent ?

Hey K-drama lovers, This drama confused me a lot more initially. The story went on here and there like that, and I was literally planning to stop watching it. However, the spark hit me with a beautiful twist and turn in the incidents that happened. I started to understand the story in the 6th episode, and I know that's bad. But still, what should we do? After that, the story is like, Awww... I don't know how the author got all this imagination to write the story. Should appreciate him. The protagonists and the uncle's character were all good. I would recommend this to everyone who loves to watch sci-fi-type drama.

So Basic ( Romance KDrama 101)

If you love rom-coms with cute couples with cute chemistry and need a filler drama to watch I recommend "King the Land". This drama is every KDrama cliché ever in cute repackaging. Do you like reluctant Cinderellas and brooding Chaebols? Check. Do you like families fighting for succession, meddling parents, childhood trauma, ridiculous misunderstandings, damsels in distress, and plenty of product placement? Check! Do you swoon over a "trip and dip", or the umbrella savior swooping in, do you cheer for mild stalking, makeovers, being forced to stay overnight in a remote town/island, men cooking enthusiastically, and other assorted food porn, bonding while drunk, or lots of lingering stares? Big checks for all of the above. Don't worry about these being spoilers either, the story is so standard it can't really be spoiled.

Whatever you think is going to happen is going to happen.

I admit I was on board for all of the above and then some. I would definitely classify this as a fan service drama for that reason. I was entertained consistently until things started turning more and more into a Tourism Ad and the obvious product placement became too overwhelming. It all leads to a decent ending, with some satisfying character conclusions, but if you told me this entire script was written by ChatGPT compiling successful romantic KDramas of the past I would believe you!

"King the Land" is not original. It's as basic as basic gets, but not bland. That may be the appeal for a lot of viewers. It felt kind of relaxing guessing exactly what was going to happen next. I thought the main couple was cute without being too cheesy. Im Yoon Ah is great as the confidently quirky and optimistic Cheon Sa Rang. She balances out the moody charm of Lee Jun Ho as Gu Won. I've definitely liked Jun Ho in other dramas and he owns the leading man role swag in this. The rest of the supporting cast of BBFs , Co-Workers, and Ahn Se Ha as No Sang Sik are great too. My only character complaint is that the sister role was so one-note it made her character less interesting in spite of her performance.

Would I watch this again? Maybe, once it slips my mind, and it will slip my mind. I do feel like this drama loses its momentum about halfway through, which makes committing to rewatching this harder, but the cuteness and well-executed tropes may be enough to convince me to rewatch. Sometimes junk food dramas are exactly what I crave. It's escapism that you can rely on. This drama is very self-aware of its cuteness and tropes and attractive leads and milks it.

This is a Cozy drama for sure! It's also a love letter to the service industry. What it's not is plot twists and clever dialogue. It's also lighter on the drama that I'm used to for a hotel-centered drama, so It doesn't even stand out in that genre, but once I watched episode 1 I knew what to expect and knew I was committed because it was exactly what I was in the mood for. This is the kind of drama you can leave playing in the background and just catch all the smile-worthy moments whether that is couples flirting or friendship and comradery. I loved watching the characters rely on each other and have each other's back even if the actual situations weren't always funny or interesting, and If you skipped from ep 10 to ep 16 you probably wouldn't miss much.

Overall, "King the Land" gives me an old-school KDrama rom-com feel without feeling dated. I wish it were shorter because their cuteness couldn't always carry the boring and repetitive plot. Maybe enjoying this drama is an exercise in appreciating the simple things once in a while. A drama doesn't have to be a 5-star masterpiece to be enjoyable. Sometimes a few Squid Game references are enough to amuse you. The one real mystery in the plot is resolved in the most anticlimactic way, however, even this simple plot generated a genuine smile from me many times, a major theme in this drama (that I liked a lot). So "Hermès" to that!

A simple slice of lives done perfectly

"Escape To Homestay" is every bit the perfect escape the name implies and so much more. Grammy Tub's Homestay is a place for people to come and make good memories, recharge, and reflect on the different situations in their lives. She delivers her own version of "Screw It" life lessons dished up with a healthy dose of laughter without being preachy and giving the people that come and stay, a chance to take a breath and really discover themselves.

The series focuses on a small regular cast as well as some guest roles as it explores the different situations, etc. that the people coming to the homestay and from the surrounding village are facing. The cast delivers a really solid performance throughout the series and the scenery and music really help to sell the Homestay as an escape. There's one storyline that happens throughout the series that I wish had been completed a little differently just because it felt somewhat unfinished. That being said, if this series ever has a second season it's also a storyline that they really could continue and develop more.

Overall: It's an excellent little series that blends a little thought, some good laughs, and a couple of tears.

A good idea to explore in theory

The idea of a season 2 with Thanu and Wayu as the main couple could have been a good idea if the writing was better.
Lets be honest here.... the story was boring. Mark and Kit spent of the season separated because of the possibility of kit getting a scholarship... like why spend time apart? (Completely illogical) Enjoy every moment. It kinda goes against what they were saying with Wayu and Thanu....
See the thing is i really like several ideas that this pairing had... the idea of a second love.
Most romantic shows have this thing about the first love being your only love. Pha broke up with Wayu and it was heartbreaking to see him so sad but their relationship from what we can tell was pretty positive. It ended with a simple we should break up... no one cheated, no drama, no blackmail, just Pha leaving and Wayu while not understanding what went wrong eventually moving on. (A realistic breakup)
Thanu had someone he believed would have been his soulmate but he chose Wayu. Even when Pha came back Wayu made it clear to him that he had moved on. He felt guilty and wanted to take care of him but he didnt love him anymore. He had truly chosen Thanu..... but the excution of all of it failed miserably
There were so many missed opportunities here.
The only thing i liked was the message... life goes on... love goes on...
Those are powerful messages and while the set up for a moving story was there they failed to bring it to life

It's pointless

I'm dropping this at episode 5, because I can't bring myself to watch this any further. For me it's pointless, and a waste of time.
When this aired, I had zero expectations. I thought it would lack a good story like so many other BLs out there, especially the more sexy ones, but I was pleasantly surprised, because there was some potential for an intriguing plot. The acting is incredible from First, Khaotung, Neo and Mark. Force and Book are almost unbearable to watch, because they aren't able to breathe some life into their characters. Better actors could have done a better job for sure. Well, not the whole cast can be stellar, so that's not the biggest issue here. I was hooked after episode 2, enjoyed episode 3, was bored by episode 4 and started skipping scenes, and now at episode 5 I will end my misery. This series reminds me of some German soap operas, where the couple gets together in a few episodes, they love each other, and you don't even know why, and then they get separated, and you have to watch endless episodes of family, friends, and the jealous ex-girlfriend plotting schemes to keep them separated until they get together in the 99th episode and marry in the 100th. Apparently this concept is very popular in Germany, and most likely all over the world, despite me to this day not knowing how something like this can even be considered an entertaining watch.
What is my point? I don't enjoy people plotting schemes and making their life miserable for no good reason. I don't enjoy the idea of love where you don't even understand why they are attracted to each other. They are all obsessed with someone, while having good potential partners around them. It's just shallow, damn shallow. You can't feel the character depths, which makes it hard to root for anyone here. I don't feel sorry for them, I don't want to see them happy, I'm just annoyed by their dirty little games and their stubbornness that makes them miserable human beings. It honestly feels strange to look at those characters who are played by great actors, some of them I really like, and just thinking: I don't care about your issues. I don't.
Still, I'm not surprised that this series is popular at all. Most people enjoy this kind of drama. I even think it's pretty realistic. We have more bad people than good people in this world, and when it comes to relationships, so many behave like lunatics.
But I personally feel too old to watch some guys f*cking around and being dramaqueens for no good reasons. I feel this is something for people in their mid 20s, especially for those who enjoy the NSFW content, which I normally do, but it cannot save this series.
To sum it up: I don't think it's a bad series. There sure is an audience for it. The acting (most of it), the music (!!) and how some of the dialogues are written isn't bad, some scenes are beautifully filmed too. But the characters are too shallow, their intrigues too dirty and pointless. So it's a no for me.

An Absolute Fantastic Rollercoaster Though without An End

I haven't had a show suck me in like this in a very long time. I'm still in somewhat of a stupor. I've never seen any of these actors before save for some in the older generation and SFL so absolutely blown away by their talent and believability. Every episode had me and pretty much everyone else trying to come up with theories of who was really good or bad. It's like my mind was taken away and placed elsewhere. This drama was a fantastic rollercoaster though sadly with no real ending.

Pros: I will try to not write a novel because this had everything one wants in a mystery wuxia; great martial arts, theories, not everything is as it seems, stunning costumes, scenery, cinematography, OSTs, heartbreak and love. Every single character for the most part was multifaceted and layered. The 2 main gray characters and then learning their stories and understanding where they came from. I'm not even sure I have a favorite character here. The actors absolutely just annihilated it! So amazing; the truth, the lies, the scheming, the understanding, love, hate, insanity. Good vs evil plus good that was evil from episode one. The gradual building of feelings. So ML (ZY) and FL (YWS) together and separately were great, SML (SJ) and have to give props to the newbie who played his little brother; how someone so young can play a convincing obnoxious creep with a smile that sends chills down your spine, is beyond me. TJR or YZ is the standout in this cast of amazing performers for sure. I personally called him Junior poison or little shit depending on how he acted. YQ, Raven papa HYS (who was on the dark side but ultimately had a good heart), JF and our seal diving elder sis plus all the young masters from the back mountain were refreshing and sometimes you were left in stitches from elder sis because she added the sunlight to this predominantly dark drama. All the dynamics were great as were relationships between people. Though I only saw real romantic connections between the leads and later on the odd couple, the second leads were in a game of cat and mouse and though he did ultimately fall for her, I didn't feel what many others felt. Theirs was like two vipers circling each other.

Trying to get everyone and everything is impossible because some assassins are real and others actually have hearts and want their freedom. The fact that in the final episode it is revealed that only 3 months passed since the start of this journey, your mind is blown because you feel it's been years. Each episode is an hour long and leaves a cliffhanger with lots of theories for you to discuss with fellow watchers. WuFeng or assassins creed as I called them are an organization led by fear and though most were absolutely ruthless, they had/have many weaknesses. They were the main antagonists but they weren't alone. Actually many of us figured out who the other ones already in the mansion were and it was just a matter of time before that was confirmed.

It was also mind blowing when the reveals started happening, just how much was actually done. And so funny to some of the commenters in this section that kept saying ZY didn't deserve to be SW, but SJ did because ZY was somehow either cheating or being helped, come to find out that SJ was secretly helping him too. Felt good for those of us defending ZY lol.

Cons: Ok, this section will be smaller but there are a few reasons why this drama didn't get a perfect score. As many before me, the ending or lack thereof was just ridiculous. You had such a captivating story and then to make the literal 4 minutes a cliffhanger that looked like it belonged in a different drama looked lazy. Yes it could be hinting at the potential of a season 2 but it could have done it way better. I've written my share of cliffhangers and regular endings and though I'm no maestro writer/director, I would have just ended it without a cliffhanger because one can still leave an air of mystery and end something satisfactory. It made both leads do things completely out of character with what we've seen. So that was a huge point buster.

SGQ got away way too easy. It didn't seem to me that she suffered much if at all with her constant crocodile tears and lies. She was a pathological liar that was also a narcissistic sociopath. Her raven was right that she only loves herself. But though the dynamic with SML in scheming against each other worked, I felt unlike everyone else that was consistently there--good or bad--evolved in some way except her. Would have been good for her to also have growth.

Last detail is the smallest but it was a personal peeve and reminded me of another drama I watched this year where they had each special skill a character made pop up on screen in massive white letters even though it was verbalized; very unnecessary. Looked 90s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Plus it was subbed twice so all that lettering on the screen was very busy and hard to understand.

Would I recommend it? 100% would! Despite those last 4 minutes of the last episode, this was fantastic. So much so, that I think it has its own force field that doesn't let you leave even once you finished it. Really, really good especially if you like the wuxia genre.

Wow, this is unlike most Japanese BL

This BL was actually wholesome and didn't have as much bad/toxic/hyperimmature behavior like the others have had. I really enjoyed the MLs dynamic together, and how they actually explored them as human beings, not just following a plot. We got to see more of what they liked and what they didn't like, and the two contrasted well. I wish more Japanese BLs could be like this. I do wish there was at least one more kiss at the end, but their sweetness toward each other will suffice. My one question...did they ever pick up that umbrella? LOL they lost a perfectly good umbrella in that alley.
