Bento Boxes, Secret Hearts, and a Love You Didn’t Plan For

Lunch Break Lovers (2026) is a quirky, heart-fluttering rom-com that follows Karashima Naho, a hardworking game company employee, and Amami Haru, an eccentric and mysterious man whose only “best friend” is an AI. After Naho accidentally ruins Haru’s vintage outfit, she agrees to repay him with 30 homemade bento lunches, leading to daily 50-minute lunch meetings that slowly turn into something deeper, even as a major secret looms.

This drama is such a fun little gem. It blends that classic J-drama quirkiness with a surprisingly warm emotional core, and the whole “bento contract” setup gives it a fresh, playful hook that keeps things interesting from the start.
What really makes it shine is how the romance builds through routine. Those short lunch breaks become everything...tiny pockets of time where walls come down, feelings sneak in, and suddenly you’re fully invested in something that started as a simple deal.

Story — 7.5/10
The premise feels unique and charming, especially with the mix of AI themes, workplace rivalry, and a contract-based relationship. It balances light rom-com energy with just enough tension to keep you curious about how everything will unfold.

Acting — 8.5/10
Inoo Kei brings a lovable, slightly offbeat charm to Haru that makes his character feel both unpredictable and endearing. The female lead grounds the story nicely, creating a dynamic that feels natural despite how unusual their situation is.

Romance — 7.5/10
The romance is soft, slow, and built on shared time rather than instant sparks. Watching their connection grow through everyday lunches makes it feel intimate in a quiet, realistic way, even when the stakes start to rise. (I wish they would have hugged, held, hands, or touched a bit more)

OST — 7.5/10
The soundtrack fits the light, whimsical tone of the drama without overpowering it. It adds to the cozy atmosphere, especially during those lunch scenes that carry most of the emotional weight.

Overall Vibe — 8.5/10
There’s a cozy, slightly quirky charm running through the entire drama that makes it incredibly easy to watch. It feels like a mix of comfort, sweetness, and just a hint of tension from the secret relationship element.

Lunch Break Lovers (2026) is the kind of drama that wins you over slowly. If you love contract relationships, workplace secrets, quirky male leads, and soft, routine-based romance, this one feels like opening a homemade lunch you didn’t know you needed, but end up loving every single time.

Too Much "Dancing"

Bad acting, bad story, bad visuals, could not pay attention for the life of me. The actor who plays Krit has soulless eyes, you could stare at them for hours and nothing would be reflected back at you. I fear the rating is padded by people just wanting to see strippers. In the two episodes I barely managed to crawl through, at least half the runtime was the characters dancing "sexy?" purely to draw engagement. I also didn't appreciate the near rape scene within the first 10 minutes.
I know the drama summary mentions a kid - you will never see this child. They are as irrelevant to the story as Wayus top three buttons on his shirt.

I love slow burn BLs but I found this very boring

I’m usually a big fan of slow burn and slice of life but this was very boring for some reason. I don’t know if it’s because my expectations were very high because of the ratings or if it’s because I watched it immediately after binge watching “Sammy’s children’s day”. I suggest you only watch this if you’re bored and out of shows to watch. You never know you might end up enjoying it more than I did lol

One of the best series I've watched.

Beyond Evil is easily one of the best series I've watched till date and one of the few series on this platform or others, i gave 10/10 rating.

The story, acting, music and the production overall was top tier.

The tension between the two leads, the twists, it was a unique experience. If you're thinking whether to watch it or not, just do it, don't think too much, you won't regret it.

I don't know if it's worth a rewatch because some twists are one watch worthy but I think I'll give it a rewatch soon.

A confusing start with too many threads at times, but worth sticking with once it finds its rhythm.

Review: Veil of Shadows

I initially found Veil of Shadows difficult to get into. The opening episodes are confusing due to minimal character introduction and very similar styling, making it hard to distinguish between characters.

Once the story settles, it becomes much clearer and more engaging.

The acting is consistently strong across the cast and helps carry the drama, particularly in the early episodes.

However, the number of storylines can feel overwhelming. There are moments where the narrative becomes confusing again due to too many concurrent plot threads. Despite being marketed around four main leads, it often feels like Zeng Shunxi and Chen Duling are sidelined.

The romance is a slow burn, relying on subtle moments rather than constant interaction. This will appeal to some viewers, but may feel too slow for others. Visually, the drama remains polished throughout.

Overall, it rewards patience. A confusing start, but an engaging story once it finds its rhythm.

Touching.

May 2026.
I so looked forward to these episodes dropping each week.

Very much a 'feel good' drama, with a soft and gentle natured lawyer, who can see and communicate with ghosts, after moving into offices formerly occupied by a Shaman.

More concerning is a sometimes side effect, of which he'll have no memory.

I loved the different clients he gets, none of whom can remember who they are. To enable their memories to reconnect, they must first remember their name and d.o.b. ~ something I-rang helps investigate and then whatever issue is keeping them from crossing over.

So many things start to be revealed as having links to I-rang, and a personal injustice his family have been carrying.

There are some really touching scenes and I thought the final story/2 episodes were excellent.

I also loved the cast and characters.

Occasionally choices made were somewhat implausible, and the writing 'hicupped"; still one to watch ☺️

Worthy watch, A mix of everything and a 10/10 for me.

I think my headline sums it all up.

Without adding spoilers, the series were worth watching.
It is a mix of drama, comedy, mystery, supernatural and heartwarming.
I was looking forward to each episode.

I would have liked to know what happened to the shaman in the end and what the circumstance was
to his story although that didn't destroy the entire plot.

So happy to how it ended as well.

Disappointing to say the least

I'm writing this exact review after a 2nd rewatch of Vincenzo and I couldn't really finish it again and the reason for that is the same problems i had with the series and this might be unpopular (based on high ratings) but it is not for everyone.
I understand that people love to overreact and overhype certain series and movies and thinking back about my first watch, i came up with high expectations, people were calling it "the best kdrama of the year" or whatever but when i did, i could see the holes in that logic.

Vincenzo is a series that started good, it had a solid plot but started to go downhill over time and by the end, you'll not feel like you're watching the same series because of how much the quality dropped in my opinion of course.

The first thing this series failed to capture is the mafia vibe. I was quite interested when the show started, it gave the feeling that we're about to watch a Korean Mafia series, not popular but this wasn't the case. I don't even know what genre this series was? Comedy? Thriller? I don't know where to put it to be honest.

Now you're watching the series and the first thing you notice is the comedy.
And oh god, how awful, cringy and corny the comedy is in this series. Some people loved it but for ME? It ruined the whole experience . And the problem is sometimes they start acting funny and silly in the middle of a fight or a serious situation which is hard to watch which connects directly to how unrealistic that was.

I mean although Vincenzo was unrealistically perfect (something that you could expect), we can certainly pass that because you know, he's James Bond or Batman, he's always 3 steps ahead and no one can touch him but when it gets to the entire plot, it ruins it and that's what happened. You've got a pigeon saving the ML, a bee in a court, the police and the entire operation are dumb ..etc. That was dumb and so unrealistic to the extreme. You can't really blend seriousness with unrealism, that's not going to work. You can't expect me to believe that a pigeon came in to save the ML and say "yeah, that's funny haha".

Another thing, The FL is so annoying and eccentric, i know, it's supposed to be this way but she's so one dimensional and rely 100% on the ML, she has no brain even though she's a lawyer too and this is annoying. The antagonists except for the 2 brothers, the rest are all weak and badly written.

The ending was just as worse. You know "the perfect Vincenzo" let that brother (forgot his name) die for nothing, he could've saved him but no, he went to help the FL instead who was completely fine. And what happened to the invincible Mafia figure? How was he outsmarted? Why now? This way? Doesn't make any sense.

The biggest problem with this series nonetheless is its length. In no way this is a 21 episode plot.
The whole story could've been wrapped up in less than 10 episodes and we wouldn't have seen all the negatives and the cringe worthy comedy.

For the positives though, the music, the cinematography, and also acting. Most actors did their job and it was good to watch. The ML was the best and that cringy Chef was the worst.

Overall, this series is overrated. 7/10 is me being nice and also because i was boring when i watched it and i had a good time.

the darker of the two parts

Overall: I tried to take into account that this was made in China in 2016. Note, this second part and my review has things that might be triggering.

Content Warnings: death, attempted murder, attempted suicide, rape (multiple times), kidnapping/held against will, choking, torture, non con recording, punches, injury, homophobia (internal and external)

What I Liked
- a character did obsessed well
- a character was public about things (though he should have consulted the other guy first before doing that)

Room For Improvement
- was likely meant to be the fictional bodice ripper type premise where "the mouth says no but the body says yes" however, the torture and repeated rape were not fun to watch. I did not want them together romantically.
- this thing went full soap opera including the nonsense of what happened in a swimming pool he could stand up in
- the wife and kid are barely mentioned and brushed aside
- cliffhanger ending without a resolution

the sweeter of the two parts

Overall: I took into consideration that this came from China in 2016. This part 1 is about 1 hour long.

Content Warnings: slap, homophobia (internal and external), sexual assault started & stopped (non con touching/kissing)

What I Liked
- they had some sweet moments
- I understood his actions based on the homophobia (also internal and resulting guilt)
- that he said he didn't want to force him

Room For Improvement
- rushed/choppy at times
- cliche wannabe girlfriend/wife

Good series but WHY would you rush the ending?

I watched Trigger last year, and i really liked it at least till the episode 6 and there's a lot to talk about here.

Trigger started great, the first 6 episodes were intriguing, it's a story about what if the weak, the bullied, the one with life struggles decided to pull the trigger, and there's someone who's ready to give them that option, to get revenge basically. The concept itself isn't new but it was well executed here because it's realistic and you find yourself relating to the victims and their struggles.

The acting is awesome as well as the action, hand to hand and shooting is well done, i enjoyed it. I would've give it 8 or even 9 if the serie kept the same momentum but it didn't because.. Everything stared to feel off after episode 6, it started to feel rushed, no tension, and the absent of police (counter power) just made it worse.

Hear me out, you've got a very dangerous arm dealer walking around Korea, killing people and giving them a reason to avenge by sending them free guns, instead of using all the govs power to stop it (like calling for literally the army to help), they just relied on the regular cops and special forces that done absolutely nothing. This took away any sense of tension and emergency.
Moon baik ending was just badly executed too, i probably understand why they did that but i hated it.

Now apparently there will be a Season 2 but I don't personally feel like i need to watch it and I probably won't.

So: 1-6 Ep = 8.5/10 1-10 Ep = 7/10.

Tempest .. Good start, weak ending.

The series "Tempest" is your usual political Kdrama about a former ambassador and her bodyguard fighting the wind of corrupted South Koreans and attempting to stop a nuclear war between North Korea, US and Idisha or aka Iraq.

Now, even though the portrayal of the countries within the series especially the US and Iraq was just plain wrong, my grip was with the the last 4 or 5 episodes.

The show started strong, with that bodyguard joining the FL but as soon as they shipped them together and they fell in love the quality of the show and I'm telling you started to drop significantly. Then the show turned into your typical romance and save the world cliché, i personally didn't like that at all. (not that the romance wasn't needed but the execution was weak in my view)
The acting was good, the cinematography was peak, the music and the story had the potential but it felt short and this is something you expect from lot of Kdramas "eg; bloodhounds 1st season".

Now, lemme just get something out of my chest, the US are not saints by any stretch of imagination, they're not the saviours of the free world, they don't own everything and certainly don't owe anybody anything, their empire is built upon terror, colonization and destruction so this kind of Hollywoodish makeup ain't working in 2025, not anymore. Any attempts to do it, is just ain't gonna work. Now, on the other hand, they portray peaceful countries in ME like Iraq or aka Idisha into these kind of savages and that's completely unrealistic and shows how much wrong influence the Korean dramas took from Hollywood.

Not all laughs.

April 2026
I so enjoyed this fantasy/Xanxia C-drama. It has humour, sarcasm, action and subtle romance.

There is also tragedy, and I cried on more than one occasion.

Demons come in all forms, and this story proves that, as is so often the case, it's the human looking ones that need worrying about the most!

Expect signature beautiful sets, costumes and actors (m&f).

A great band of characters (who don't all want to be together at all, and don't all get on), with varying abilities and very different personalities, are tasked with catching demons that have escaped the Demon Realm. They also have to fix the 'leak'!

A few eps dragged a bit, but for me, not unbearably.

One particular scene also gets revisited a bit too often, and whilst it's an important one, it did irk me a bit.

A couple of irritating support characters (again, not massively so, as covered by others), and I found Wen Xiao a bit 'wet' at times.

Still, overall it's another that's recommended and one I really enjoyed.

Note: Not that strong on romance, incase it's your thing.

Hooked on you

Mad respect for director Chen Jia Jie, who can create insanely entertaining shows with shoestrings. His Embrace in the Dark Night was already high on my "low-budget gem" list but Affinity is on a whole new level, pushing limits of what you can do with the short format on all fronts. Saying the plot is bonkers doesn't even start to describe the madness going on : it feels like the brainchild of someone who spent too much time consuming various popular genres like trashy supernatural smut, SF and horror video games and movies, and threw them in a blender without much care for logic. I won't lie, I basked in the nonsensical joy of it all, feeling like a kid at christmas gifted with the biggest, most colorful toy available.
The spice level is insane, clearly the censors were asleep or bribed when this went through approvals. I don't know how I will tolerate basic skinship in shows after this, at the end they were fully tongue kissing, something I've only seen in naughty vertical dramas (before the crackdown, not sure it will happen again). The choreography was also insanely hot and creative, I think I've watched the train scene a dozen times and know I will come back a dozen more. On the writing front the plot might be crazy and twisty but it doesn't keep the emotional beats from working, far from it. I had to take a break around a certain time, I was so invested in the characters, their misfortunes made me too upset to continue. I came back to it a few months later and gobbled up the remaining episodes. Yes, it's brainless but it's not heartless, I teared up a few times and was invested in all characters, even the side ones. The year is not over but it might be my favorite thing 2026 has produced.

One of the best Kdramas of 2025

I'm writing this review after i watched Murky stream last year, so this is my impression and review.. you should trust my taste on this one.
I actually came in with low expectations, the story looked recycled but the poster hooked me, so, i decided to give it a chance and it was worth it.

I really liked how the story was executed and the pacing for this type of story (usually long) was just perfect. The acting was good too and the stakes kept raising which at the end gave us a satisfying ending. They didn't necessarily rely on the hero to save the day, he was like part of the plan and not THE PLAN and this is something i prefer in stories.

Now, i can see the low reviews. I'm not really into Korean history in general and how some areas were presented so i didn't really put lot of focus on that. Some people may found it unrealistic or something like that and i respect that view.
