Just finished.. and clocking in to review

This was a pleasant watch, all the cast did a great job and there is really nothing 'wrong' with the series. It's a typical office romance and everyone acts their part well. There are few side story lines and the series focus on the romance & office politics with the ML & FL.

I enjoyed the FL friend (super cute) and I wish they did more about her sister other an cameos and it felt like there was a bigger story there. I was glad to see her budding relationship with the 'younger' guy able to keep going. They were a cute couple.

The Ahole Boss was a little over the top, he did everything but sexual harrass his staff. No major company would allow someone at that level to behave in that manner. He clearly was never competent so outside of playing politics unsure how he even was promoted. There was hint at larger executive shakeup due to accepts bribes but it is never played out.

This show was good to just unwind with, it doesn't make you think to much. It's fun, lite weight and once its over you'll feel you watched something decent.

Supurb story, acting, and worth many rewatch

Liu Shishi's acting was spot on, and she's so pretty. She did very well in her fight choreography scenes. It was smooth and direct. She’s one of my favorite actresses, and I think she does best in costume drama. Liu Yuning's acting is very natural, and he does an outstanding job as a newbie. He worked very hard to master his character for this role. Alan Fang played Yu Shi San very well. He cracks you up. The supporting cast was also great. Their sidebar comments were humorous, and the timing was spot on. The chemistry among all of the main supporting actors was harmonious and well matched. The unexpected events and twists to the storyline kept the story moving. I would have preferred a different ending but I’m okay with it because they get to stay together. This drama will not disappoint you.

Achei um k-drama maduro, sem muito melodrama e com uma narrativa mais realista, o que me agradou bastante. A história não fica se arrastando nem cria conflitos desnecessários apenas para prolongar os episódios. A construção dos personagens foi bem feita, permitindo entender as escolhas e o amadurecimento de cada um ao longo da trama. O que mais me chamou a atenção foi ver o protagonista colocar a carreira em segundo plano para apoiar a parceira, pensando primeiro no bem-estar e nos sonhos dela antes dos próprios. Esse tipo de atitude foge um pouco do padrão que costumamos ver em muitos romances e tornou a relação deles mais natural e convincente. Para quem gosta de histórias maduras, com boas atuações e um romance desenvolvido de forma equilibrada, esse k-drama vale muito a pena.

I put off watching this drama for a long time. Even though so many people recommended it, I just couldn’t bring myself to start it. But I finally did, and now I completely understand why everyone praises it so highly. This drama is simply AMAZING. In every possible aspect—the story, the characters, the chemistry between them, and the cinematography. Every episode keeps you on the edge of your seat, eager to see what happens next. There isn’t a single moment where the story drags or becomes boring. And once you finish it, there’s almost nothing you can criticize as being poorly done. Maybe the ending leaves a slight sense of longing, and a few storylines could have been explored a bit more, but none of that affects my overall opinion of the drama. If anything, it only proves just how damn incredible it is.

The relationship between the main couple—Yun Se Ri & Ri Jeong Hyeok—was PERFECT. I fell in love with them both as individual characters, and I loved them even more together. Their relationship can be summed up in two words: TRUE LOVE. Watching them grow, open up to one another, and become better people because of each other was beautiful. They experienced genuine happiness for the first time when they were together. The support they gave each other and the way they constantly risked their lives for one another was incredibly moving. Their chemistry was also absolutely beautiful. I also loved the whole concept of fate bringing them together. I could write endlessly about them, but I’ll spare you. I’ll simply say this: their relationship was so beautiful that it made me cry from pure emotion—and I’m not someone who cries because I’m touched. The only thing I can criticize is the ending, which left me with a lingering sense of dissatisfaction that my mind simply can’t let go of. They only get to meet in Switzerland for two weeks every year? Is that really supposed to be the rest of their lives? I refuse to accept that. In my head, they moved there permanently. I genuinely wanted to see more of their happy life together in Switzerland.

As for the soldiers from the Fifth Company—their friendship was absolutely wonderful. Watching them always put a smile on my face, but it also made me cry. In my opinion, it’s the most beautiful friendship I’ve ever seen in a drama. Their time in South Korea definitely deserves special mention—it was fantastic. Pyo Chi Su and his constant bickering with Se Ri made me laugh countless times, and I also loved Geum Eun Dong’s gaming storyline with Jeong Hyeok while they were in South Korea. On top of that, I have to give special praise to Kim Ju Muk, who became my favorite out of all of them. And this is another reason why I don’t feel like I got a complete happy ending. The thought that they can never all meet again still breaks my heart. :( The same goes for the women in North Korea. They were all wonderful, and their relationship with Yun Se Ri was equally heartwarming. I’m also sad (though a little less) that they’ll never see each other again. At least we got that cosmetics scene as a small consolation.

Naturally, I also have to mention Jung Man Bok. I liked him from the very beginning, even though he initially belonged to the antagonists. Every time I looked at him, I felt more sympathy for him than for anyone else. That’s why I was so happy when he switched sides and started helping the others. I was even happier when he got a new job after returning home and we finally saw him genuinely happy. He absolutely deserved it. And the b*stard completely fooled me into thinking he had betrayed everyone again and gone back to helping the villains. His only flaw was that he couldn’t shoot to save his life. I also really liked Hong Chang Sik and Park Su Chan. There was just something about their personalities that made them incredibly likable, and their scenes made me laugh over and over again.

Now let’s move on to the second main couple—Seo Dan & Koo Seung Jun. I have to admit that for quite a long time, I couldn’t understand why people loved them so much. They actually annoyed me, especially Seo Dan. But eventually he stopped irritating me, and I even started to grow fond of him. Being with him also made Seo Dan grow on me. She stopped being an irritating, desperate woman obsessed with someone who didn’t love her back and became someone I genuinely enjoyed watching. Overall, they made each other much better people, and they both wanted to become better versions of themselves for each other. By the end, I was absolutely sobbing when he d*ed before they could have their happy ending. And I loved watching her take revenge on the people responsible for his d*ath.

There are also many family storylines throughout the drama, so I’ll cover them all together:
-> Yun Se Ri’s biological mother — Who exactly was she? What actually happened to her? Was she really her father’s mistress? So many questions and absolutely no answers.
-> Yun Se Ri’s stepmother (Han Jeong Yun) — I found her storyline incredibly interesting. I wish the drama had explored her mental illness in more depth and explained what caused it. Maybe it stemmed from her husband's betrayal, which is why she reacted so negatively to Se Ri’s love? Despite everything that happened between them, I honestly believe she loved Se Ri more than anyone else in that dysfunctional family. I was actually hoping that after everything they went through, they would grow even closer, because I genuinely felt sorry for her.
-> Yun Se Ri’s father (Yun Jeung Pyeong) — From beginning to end, I never felt even the slightest bit of sympathy for him. To me, he wasn’t a good person or a good father, and he played a huge role in shaping the awful people his sons became. Unfortunately, he never faced any consequences—not for that, nor for the way he ruined Seung Jun’s life.
-> The older brother and his wife (Yun Se Jun & Do Hye Ji) — Were they good people? No. For most of the drama, they were two incredibly annoying as*holes. Did they drive me insane? Absolutely. Their only redeeming quality was that they weren’t completely evil and eventually experienced some sort of redemption. Did that make me like them? No. But at least their scenes stopped making my blood boil.
-> The younger brother and his wife (Yun Se Hyeong & Ko Sang A) — I’m writing this review a week after finishing the drama, and you know what? My blood still boils every time I think about them. Two complete pieces of sh*t without a single redeeming quality. In my opinion, no one in this drama was more evil than those two, and no one pissed me off more (yes, they even surpassed Cho Cheol Gang). I honestly can’t decide which one I hated more. The heartless b*tch with no conscience, or the p*thetic c*ward who blamed everything on his wife because he couldn’t admit he was a terrible human being. I don’t even want to write more about them because just thinking about them raises my blood pressure. Nothing makes me happier than knowing they’re ro*ting in prison together.
-> Ri Jeong Hyeok’s mother (Kim Yun Hui) — She didn’t get much screen time, but to me she was the best parent in the entire drama. She genuinely loved her children, and their happiness was always her highest priority. She deserves special recognition among all the dysfunctional parents in this series.
-> Ri Jeong Hyeok’s father (Ri Chung Ryeol) — I have mixed feelings about him. Technically, he didn’t really do anything wrong, but from beginning to end something about him felt off, and to this day I’m not convinced he’s actually a good person. Cho Cheol Gang’s words also keep bothering me. Yes, he was manipulative, but I still wonder why Chung Ryeol never truly investigated his older son’s d*ath for all those years. Maybe the problem really did begin with him?
-> Ri Jeong Hyeok’s brother (Ri Mu Hyeok) — Every flashback made me grieve even more over the d*ath of such a genuinely good person. I would’ve given anything for him to have secretly survived and reunited with his brother so we could have seen them together in the present.
-> Seo Dan’s mother (Ko Myeong Eun) — Her personality irritated me beyond belief. She wasn’t necessarily a bad person, but her attitude annoyed me so much that I couldn’t help seeing her negatively. Ironically, she also became one of the reasons I started sympathizing with Seo Dan. I genuinely felt sorry for her for having a mother who pressured her into marriage, which only fueled Seo Dan’s desperation. Later on, her mother earned a small plus from me when she started supporting her and said that her happiness mattered most. But then she immediately ruined it again by trying to push another marriage onto her in the end, even though Seo Dan wanted to focus on her career because Seung Jun had been the love of her life.
-> Seo Dan’s father — Who was he? Is he still alive? Did he die? Once again, so many questions and no answers.
-> Koo Seung Jun’s parents — He only mentions them briefly throughout the drama, but I think that storyline was interesting enough that I really wish it had been explored further. It would have added much more depth to Seung Jun’s character, especially since his childhood clearly had a huge impact on the man he eventually became.

Finally, I saved the cherry on top: Cho Cheol Gang. Yet another absolute b*stard in this drama who constantly made my blood boil. Did he ever do a single good thing in his life? Well, I’ll give him this—he was an exceptionally well-written villain. I’m also curious about his past. Something must have happened to turn him into someone so utterly ruthless, with absolutely nothing left to lose. I also have mixed feelings about his d*ath. Right after finishing the drama, I was happy that he d*ed. But now, a week later, I honestly wish he had spent the rest of his life suffering both mentally and physically in North Korea instead.

A Promising Royal story that Shines From the Start

After watching the first four episodes, Royal Betrothal has made a strong first impression. The story moves at a steady pace, introducing the main characters and their relationships without feeling rushed. The mix of royal politics, romance, and lighthearted moments keeps every episode engaging and leaves you wanting more.

The biggest highlight so far is the performance of the two main leads. They bring their characters to life with natural and expressive acting, making every interaction feel believable. Their chemistry is effortless, and even in the early episodes, they create emotional moments that are easy to connect with. Their screen presence adds so much charm to the drama and makes it enjoyable to watch.

The production quality is another standout. The costumes, cinematography, and overall visuals fit the historical setting beautifully, while the soundtrack complements the emotional and romantic scenes well.

Although it's still too early to judge the overall story with only four episodes released, Royal Betrothal has had a very promising start. If the drama continues at this level, it has the potential to become one of the most enjoyable historical romances of the season. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story and the relationship between the leads develop in the coming episodes.

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN DRAMA (Best of 2026 line up)

This drama captured my attention from the very first opening scene and with each scene afterwards, it left me wanting more. The way this drama dealt with everything was so amazing! Each character was written to be so complex, raw and morally grey. Not one of these characters were perfect each one had flaws and struggles and that's what makes good characters. So often, writers make their characters not go through such deep growth and struggles because they are afraid to make characters have flaws and struggles, but they didn't have this problem in this drama.
I loved everything about this drama! The music, the acting, the storyline, the fight scenes, the characters, the sets and costumes. Just everything!
The plot twists were so good, I genuinely didn't see them coming and each fight scene was so good! I love a drama that can make good fight scenes! And don't get me started on the angst, because it was so good! It had me bawling so much.
I loved the main couple, they were so cute and soft! I loved the gradual build to their romantic relationship because it felt so real and authentic. They built a connection and a solid foundation and they just added to that, and I love that so much in romance dramas. I see in so many dramas, that they rush through the romantic relationship without ever building onto it for a real connection and they didn't have that problem in here.
I would rewatch right now. A 10/10 watch! I would recommend this to everyone!

I was so excited from the trailer but the show is...

I love Joongdunk and normally tbh my love for them as people probably clouds my judgement a little on their shows. I'm sure realistically the Heart Killers wasn't a 10/10 but to me it was. So when a drama trailer dropped with Joongdunk that fit right up my alley I was so excited waiting for it to come out and was even more excited and proud for them when I noticed it was on Netflix but once I started watching, it took me months to finish because I was just having such a hard time getting past the plot holes and writing and just strange whip lash of emotions. I held on hope that maybe the final would be better but after now having watched fully it just made me more mad. Joongdunk played their characters very well in my opinion and the cinematography in some shots was gorgeous but the script and seemingly thrown together plot just did not highlight them how it should've and I wish a better series of theirs ended up on Netflix (opening them to a more widespread audience) instead of a show that makes the company seem incompetent at writing.

Spoilers ahead for anyone still planning to watch because this is no longer a review and rather a long winded rant about the final episode.

When making a mystery thriller like this it is quite important to actually properly plan the plot twists and how everything is going to play out because its supposed to make sense or else the impact from any emotional scene is completely drained away. In this show it seems like they wrote the script in one take and didn't review it a single time. In the last episode when Jay was knocked out by the doctor after Kamin woke him up his immediate reaction was to tell him they're upstairs. How did Jay know that they would be upstairs when its implied he was passed out before they moved the hostages up stairs? Idk psychic I guess but whatever. Later Jade comes out from hiding from the doctor and somehow Jay is now inside and tied up despite the doctor never having enough time to have gone outside. brought Jay inside, tie him up, cover him with a sheet and then gone back to what he was doing because Jade was actively surveying him. Then the doctor proceeds to threaten Jade with a "oh choose him or Kamin" while Kamin was nowhere near him, armed and frankly perfectly safe at the current moment. You cannot have a "choose" moment when you are not actively threatening both parties or Jade could have just chose Jay, moved him away from the threat and followed the doctor up to Kamin to help Kamin so there was no weight to this scene it just seemed stupid. Now lets move back upstairs to Kamin and the hostages and evil girl (I forgot her name mb). I know Champ was a bad person the whole time but is it not irrational that he continued to kill Chareen even when Kamin was there to save them both and had a gun to the evil girls head? He was no longer fighting to survive, he just killed her cuz why not I guess even though killing her in front of a cop made it certain he'd just go to jail after this?? They then walked through the completely engulfed in flames house with no issues or burns despite fire being visibly everywhere while carrying Champ but go off I guess.

NOW this is the worst part about it all to me, somehow even though Kamin just witnessed multiple young adults kill/try to kill each other, already failed to save several others and been in great danger himself, he has no sense of guilt, shame, grief, not an ounce of any mental pain. SAME WITH JADE, his brother was almost killed right in front of him, he failed to save several young adults lives, and he almost died, yet light work no reaction. THEN EVEN WORSE JAY, Jay essentially had the blame of all of his friends deaths placed on him because he was a bystander in their crimes which was said to him by the girl that they harmed the most who he also seemed to be the closest with (and he also almost died and had been mentally tormented for awhile) AND WHEN HE WAKES UP FROM THE HOSPITAL HIS ONLY REACTION IS A SMILE TOWARDS KAMIN AND JADE BEING FLIRTY! You can't have a thriller where nobody feels ANY weight from ANY of the horrible horrible things that happened. It was already bad whiplash when they'd go on a romcom esc date while these kids including his younger brother are being actively hunted by a murderer (with no sort of police protection btw) but the absolute slap on the face that was a 20 minute vacation scene after the most climactic and traumatizing events of the show happened was absolutely CRAZY. The scene in The Heart Killers of Fadel breaking down and crying to Style because he could no longer withhold his pain from the person he loved was so impactful it almost made ME cry but then I watch this and nothing means anything and nobody cares about anything and it was just sooo disappointing knowing what JoongDunk can and has done. The potential was there but the impact was non existent, its hard to even care about their relationship when it often felt just so out of place. Anyways ill leave it at that because frankly I doubt anyone is reading this far in to my rambling.

Overdo: All Style, Very Little Substance

Overdo had the potential to be an engaging drama, but it ended up being a frustrating experience. The story relies on repetitive conflicts and forced drama instead of meaningful character development. Many plot twists feel unrealistic and exist only to create temporary shock rather than move the story forward.

The characters are inconsistent, with decisions that often make little sense. Instead of growing naturally, they seem to change based on what the plot needs at the moment. This makes it difficult to connect with them or become emotionally invested.

The pacing is another major issue. Some episodes drag with unnecessary scenes, while important moments are rushed and left without satisfying explanations. Even though the production quality and visuals are decent, they aren't enough to make up for the weak writing.

Overall, Overdo is disappointing. If you're looking for a well-written drama with believable characters and a satisfying storyline, this one is easy to skip.

Good Everything but the Story

TutorYim are surely one of a kind pair in this industry. They have an amazing chemistry and a flawless acting perfomance. They're beautiful, talented and such good professionals. Even the side characters had great performances. The production, overall, was also quite stunning! Such creative ways to portray many scenarios! But, when it comes to the backbone of any narrative, the storyline, what in the world is happening? Personally, I enjoy carefree, creative narratives, but this is just chaotic. At some point, I started to think that the real Battle of The Writers was happening in the script team of the show. Bad idea followed by a bad idea and even worse idea. Of course, some things were enjoyable! Truly must give TutorYim the credits for making the few enjoyable moments enjoyable though. The ending, for instance, was quite touching. Also were their moments as children. But, overall... Wow. I think there were just too many things happening at the same time. I truly hope TutorYim get to star a show that can fully match to their potential. They're an amazing couple! The visual effects were surprisingly good, the footage montage, the editing. Visually flawless. In the other hand, I guess I'll never forget P'Jao Samut's dubbed-audio. The budget for everything was there, except for a writer. Which is funny considering the amount of writers portrayed in the show. Well: no hate at all! I got to end the twelve episodes without much issue. It's just that I believe that, if the storyline and the narrative were more solid and well-organized, this would've been such an amazing show. Shout out to everyone!

Dropped at episode 10

The reason I'm reviewing this despite dropping it early, is because I spoiled it for myself and looked into the whole drama plot, which ultimately made me decide not to continue.

I really wanted to enjoy Love Has Fireworks because it had that nostalgic 2020–2022 C-drama vibe, and the comedy was genuinely enjoyable. The leads' bickering and chemistry were probably the best part of the drama. However, I feel like comedy was carrying the entire show.

My biggest issue is the pacing, the drama has 36 episodes but the main couple only get together in episode 34, which imo is too dragged. By episode 10, Li Yifei had already admitted to his best friend that he had fallen for the landlady, so knowing that their relationship development takes that long completely put me off. In addition, Li Yifei and Qian Fei were cute, but sometimes their interactions felt overly childish and unrealistic. I also heard the story relies heavily on exes and misunderstandings later on, which is something I personally dislike.

The side couples also didn't help. Dangyu and Jun Cheng's dynamic felt extremely weird to me, especially Jun Cheng's behaviour, and I couldn't understand why they received so much screen time. Jingjing and Lu Ze also didn't interest me, especially the ring misunderstanding, which made their whole entire relationship seem extremely unhealthy. Additionally, jingjing seemed too controlling at some point which was quite annoying.

Overall, it had potential, but the pacing and unnecessary drama made me lose interest. Also, I still can't believe the production team looked at one of the exes' AI-looking crap and thought it was acceptable to release it because I genuinely couldn't take those scenes seriously. 😭

Underrated drama of 2026, A found family

Road to success is a drama that I've come to love. I didn't have big expectations or anticipation in the beginning when I first heard of this drama last year. I watched it when it was released and didn't expect to love it as much as I did.

Road to Success is a drama that depicts healing, trauma and coming-of-age stories. It has many storylines that could at least pique your curiosity, but the problem is that with many, the storylines are bound to get wrapped up quickly and badly. Such as the mysterious person who dragged the team back together in the beginning. It gets its focus for a few episodes but then completely goes forgotten; then it was only addressed by the time the 2nd half came around. We never actually get to learn whether Wen Chengye's dad accepts him as a part of the soccer team and how he's treating him after that. The thing is that we never do get to learn if LWX's parents have accepted her decision; they only get chased away by Wang Fa's dad.

Also, we never did get much focus on LWX's perpetrator who caused her to drop out. The main lead rather found the person easily then took him down. They forget about it to focus on the students' storyline, then they finally decide to wrap it up by the end and it doesn't leave much emotional impact because it happens too fast and easily. It shows that 32 episodes may not have been enough, it also kinda shows during the ending as well.

Besides that, I really did love the message this drama was incorporating about mental health, women's rights, and coming-of-age struggles as a teenager. We don't talk enough about just how much we struggle with our mental health, especially when it's women's mental health. How easy and damaging it is for one single rumour to ruin a woman's life. In the drama, the court scene really stood out to me when the female lead finally dares to face her perpetrator. She referenced a case of a female student in university who graduated and dyed her hair pink for graduation. She received a lot of hate from Chinese netizens simply because they deemed her hair to be unruly and improper.

I find it funny just how they timed it perfectly with the World Cup lol and ended at the same time the World Cup did.

I really came to love how LWX was there for her students, so I kinda wish I had an adult like her in my life haha. I really loved LWX's character, because she wasn't afraid to still live, to not give up. She stood up for her students and became the adult they needed in that moment. The found family trope really touches my heart, honestly.

I loved how Wang Fa became the safety net that will catch LWX no matter how many times she tries to fall. The chemistry between them was really cute and natural; sadly, we didn't get to see much of it due to how the romance was sidelined for the majority of the drama, being like the 3rd most important plot.

I found it interesting how Esther once revealed that her acting coach told her to choose characters more like herself, and I can definitely see the resemblance between her and LWX; it breaks my heart knowing that she faced such hate that made her probably feel a lot of negative emotion like LWX did. Im glad, honestly, because she really is venturing out more from the script her ex-company made her choose, and I hope it showcases more of her acting range through these projects and helps her grow.

When it comes to the acting, it wasn't bad. Esther delivered a nice performance, and so did Chen Jingke, but I gotta say CJK's lips really distracted me, like not romantically; it felt like he was meowing sometimes lol. One of the problems I had with this drama in the beginning was how I felt like I was seeing Esther Yu and not exactly LWX sometimes. I guess it's due to the styling that made me feel like I was watching Esther Yu.

Really such a beautiful found family story about healing and coming of age. I found it cute as well how Esther reunited with her former bandmate Chloe Xie in this drama and they are childhood friends in the story, not to mention how Esther's name, Yu Shuxin and Lin Wanxing both have the word star in them, which I found was a cute coincidence as well.

I gotta say that Victor Ma really nails these comedic characters so well! He was so funny lol. Whenever they were snacking in the beginning, I got so jealous and hungry lol; it looked so delicious as well. I gotta say, with the amount of times Esther promoted the Wakuku dolls, I think in this drama it made me tempted to also get one lol.

I would recommend checking this out if you want a more emotion-driven plot, but it's understandable why people would find it boring and not to their taste.

perhaps not dazzling enough but it certainly “sparkle”, “glimmers” and “glows” … ?

I decided to watch this drama because a reviewer said that it was a “natural” drama that was very “slice of life” and not something over the top and overly dramatic and crazy. Well, I enjoyed this drama enough! ☺️ I think 8.5/10 is fair because I think it’s better than average.

What I Liked:
- FL was very natural in her acting. ML was very good too. They had chemistry.
- The supporting cast acted well too. The mothers and sons were cute. Their camaraderie seemed very believable and thus, very enviable.
- I liked that FL wasn’t a pushover. She had her own mind and she was practical. Once she understood her circumstances and her limitations, she adapted, she pivoted and she continued to try her utmost. I liked what she said about trying not to have regrets in life. However, if there are regrets, accept them and move forward as well as possible. She also talked about making her best possible decisions / moves within what was possible.
- I liked how they continued to lift each other up and to continue to live their best lives possible despite the many obstacles - both big and small setbacks. In life, we certainly face many trials and tribulations. And, we need to continue to push forward or perhaps, creep forward because time and tide wait for no one and the sun also rises. We need to keep on going albeit slowly and despite our pain.
- Ending was happy which I always like. I look forward to happy endings because they give me hope for real life happy endings.

What I Didn’t Like:
- I hated Cao Ping and his sister. Luckily, they “reformed”.
- The perverted man with no morals.
- Rather senseless fight scenes. (Luckily, the FL would usually appear to get them to stop fighting.)

Overall, I think it’s a modern drama which deserves a watch. It is very watchable. Some parts are motivational / inspirational. 💪🏼🫰🏼🙏🏼🤭
