What a good k-drama.

I definitely loved this k-drama. It is the first historical k-drama I watched and it was very enjoyable. The story grabs you and makes you want to watch more and more. I love how the characters were built and the dynamic between everyone. The character of the queen is just great, I'm not a mother but I could feel what she felt and I was deeply touched by the way she always tried to protect her children. I would probably watch it again sometime. I fell in love with prince Seongnam, he was my favorite character. ?

Amazing Show

This show was amazing and I loved everything about it, especially the sorry line I have no complaints except for the fact that to me the main couple was kind of boring because they didn't really interest me. I liked Ha Yi Chan and Cung Ah more they were interesting and everything about their love story is just so cute. Another thing I didn't really like I that when Eun Gyeol came back to the future everything was different and now they were these rich people and I guess that's what happens when you change the past but I just feel as if it was sad that those sweet moments they had in his childhood technically didn't exist anymore. Also, the story doesn't make sense if Eun Gyeol went to the past and altered the future then when he came back to the future shouldn't he not remember his old childhood and now remember a new version with all the changes he made. Other than does small things the story is amazing and I would definitely recommend this.

I WILL NO LONGER FEEL PAIN! NOTHING WILL TURN RED ANYMORE.

I thank MBN for showing that a drama with a modest budget, but with a good script, well-developed and implemented clichés, well-executed plot and direction, can indeed be successful and win over the audience. This drama has demonstrated that it is possible to achieve this feat. The ending of the drama, in my opinion, presents all loose ends properly tied up, with a clear and conclusive conclusion. The explanation for the characters' second chance in life was simple: "God wanted it, and it's all right."

Of course, this drama has become one of my favorites on MDL, being an incredible experience to follow these twelve episodes. I hope MBN produces more dramas with the same atmosphere.

Now that the drama is over, I can say that, in the webtoon, there are three characters who go back to the past (the protagonists and Kim Jae Won). I believe that not including this plot for Kim did not harm the development of the story. If MBN wanted to, they could have extended the plot to 16 to 20 episodes, but it's all right. It's good to end things at their peak, which helps preserve good memories.

An Overall fun watch

A Chinese crime detective drama is a rare find, but this one proves to be a highly enjoyable watch. If you're a fan of Agatha Christie novels or thrillers with a single murder and multiple suspects, this series will likely captivate you.

The Good:
- Exceptional cinematography and perfect lighting: Among the Chinese dramas I've seen, this one stands out for its well-shot scenes and meticulous attention to set design, real-life locations, and costumes.
- Unique storytelling: It's uncommon in Chinese dramaland to encounter a series that addresses multiple intricate social issues, offering a refreshing perspective.
- Well-developed characters: Each character is thoughtfully written, displaying depth and undergoing significant development over time. They are all intriguing with multiple dimensions to their personalities.
- Engaging story and pacing: The drama maintains a suitable pace, ensuring that the plot unfolds seamlessly. The unique storytelling sets it apart, providing a fresh and distinctive experience.
- Strong acting: Angelababy delivers a surprisingly strong performance, embodying her character perfectly. The entire cast contributes to the wonderful performances throughout.

The Underwhelming:
- Plot holes towards the end: The drama suffers from some plot holes, potentially due to restrictions in Chinese dramas. The final showdown climax falls a bit short of expectations.

Despite these shortcomings, the overall experience is thrilling and enjoyable until the very last moment. As a thriller enthusiast, even I found it challenging to anticipate the plot twists and mysteries. It felt like I was on a journey with the detectives, unraveling the story alongside them.

WHAT THE HECK IS THE PLOT

I started this drama because of jang dong yoon and no other reason. I really love him as an actor and he really did a great job in every drama he acted on. Unfortunately, this drama is not gonna make it up. The plot is miserable af. I don't even know what the writer was doing with the reincarnation plot. It was okay when baek-ryeon is linked to the reincarnation of court lady but what with the highschool girl? Is she the reincarnation of baek-ryeon or the highschool girl actually was baek-ryeon? It didn't even add up because we see that they found the body of the highschool girl in the mountain. So, I don't understand why baek-ryeon have the memory of the highschool girl.
And don't get me started with the cupid curse. Like I don't understand why they only blame the curse on sang-hyuk which was at the first place is due to god of courage (the kid). He was the one who did all the things so that sang-hyuk fall in love with the court lady and only blame it on him? smh. I will leave the past as it is but why when the other cupid fall in love with baek-ryeon's friend, they suddenly okay with it? Like there is no curse happening towards him. Ridiculous but i will still watch this drama since only 3 episodes left.
The murder plot is okay but not important. Maybe important at earlier episode in building up the connection with female lead and male lead. But that's all. Nothing interesting at the moment. I just wished they conclude this drama on 12 episodes cos they taking a lot of time in building the storyline that it feels like some kind of the plot is unecessary for the story.
The acting of the casts all good. I have watched the main leads' show so I know they will do well. Nothing extraordinary in particular. I love every single of them and the cupids are handsome, pleasing to eyes except one cupid. No offense though hehe.
The OST is quite good. They know how to place it well. But overall I will never watch this drama again.

manage your expectations

okay disclaimer, yes I'm a kpop fan, no I'm not a lyon (nothing against the group, I just haven't even listened to their music yet beyond the music shown in this show, so I have no particular feelings one way or another)

this show has a TW for attempted SA (nothing graphic but it is done to main characters)

I enjoyed watching this show. was it perfect? no. it had a budget of $15 and a dream but considering what they had, I thought the show was fun! other reviewers felt like they were reading off the script -- I never particularly felt that way while watching, maybe a bit looking back but idk I just didn't notice anything like that. clearly these guys aren't skilled actors but I thought it was fun seeing them gain a bit more confidence as the show went on, especially the main two guys. there were some moments they had that I thought were pretty good, honestly -- you can see that they have chemistry together. they did kiss only one time, with multiple fake outs/kissblocking moments happening, which... was a bit frustrating! but like my headline says: I was managing my expectations. I've seen much more produced BL shows have zero kisses so I'm taking that one we got as a win. (it helps that it was cute)

there were definitely parts where the writing felt off (such as the end where a character says he's going to stay for a while, then immediately turns out not to be with no explanation?). I also noticed the bgm would come on and off really abruptly at times and it was a little distracting

while I didn't mind the 15 minute episodes (*cries in 5-min episode Chinese GL shows*) I wish there were more episodes total, maybe 10. the relationship is a bit of a fast burn and it would've been nice to see more of the emotional build up, or emotional fall out of some of the things that happened in this show. relatedly, I really didn't expect what I thought would be a cutesy BL project have serious topics like toxic relationships, scandals, SA, etc in them. it was a nice surprise for me bc while I don't mind cutesy BL, the more drama the better

my fave trope they included was definitely the protective sunbae/hyung/group leader + sunshine/naive dongsaeng!!

would I rewatch? maybe. honestly I would be more interested in seeing another project done by this group, this show felt like their first steps into the acting world and I saw potential in them to get better and do bigger and better things in the future

Many plot holes. Big spoiler alert

Watch this cause I like the chemistry between Khaotung Thanawat Ratanakitpaisan & First Kanaphan Puitrakul in Only Friends & this part of Our Skyy series. Must say this series have many plot holes that I don't like...

As usual the save or (+) point first:
+ The good teacher. How supportive teacher Sani is for the student development. Especially when she has the talk with Wasuwat / "Wat". She's one good teacher.
+ Everything gets better in the end.
+ The chemistry between Khaotung Thanawat Ratanakitpaisan & First Kanaphan Puitrakul. Even with questionable plot, I really like to see them together. Feel like friend that decided to have something more...

Overall watch this for ur fav actor or to complete our skyy series.... Hope nothing more.... Below this point is the plot holes with a lot of spoiler. Read with ur own risk!

==================================================
BIG SPOILER ALERT!!!!
==================================================

The plot holes:
- The way Akk and Ayan / eye get closer really question mark... I mean yeah I know they will eventually be closer & having relationships, that's the set up.... But how one pair bickering individual just having feelings & helping each other is not something I get caught on. It just feel the director decided this is the time to make u guys couple, and they become couple...
- We lack explanation about Khanlong / "Khan" & Thuaphu / "Thua" relationships. Why at first Khan try to avoid Thua like he is the plague for him. Yeah I know we get a little hint here & there they talk about them being an 'item' & Khan just bother at first. And that's also the weird relationship between Khan & Thua until the last scene. Never really understand the dilemma in Khan heart nor i think they fit for each other.
- The curse itself. OMG..... They never really bothered to explain to us about the CURSE. What is that? How it appeared? Why it happened? Who it targeted for? Yeah yeah I know they, once again, give a little hint here and there about the curse, but never really directly tell us. Why don't they use the chance when Eye enter as new student to explained to him & us about the curse...
- Teacher Dika. OMG... This also one important character that they never really bothered to tell us the back story of him. Once again, only a little here & there & finally the big reveal in the end. I need more..... More story of him.... Like how he give impact to Akk & other student, how he became good teacher & everyone remember... Something like that...
- The pressure that the school put into the student. And the bad guy here is teacher Chadok. Never really understand the pride in the name of Suppalo school and all its rule...
- The 3 'bad' kids that always protest. I mean what's their deal... Why they protest about the school rule. What I can get from their protest only 1, they don't want to wear school uniform & nothing else. I mean yeah I understand if the school rule is just too strict or the lesson just too heavy or something meaningful for student to be protest about. But I don't see or get how the school rule too strict for student in Suppalo. I mean they still allowed the students to protest & make demo in school, how that's a strict school... & why these trio must always protest for school rule.... I don't get it. Even when the narrative already been swifted in the end, the trio want school to investigate the incident that happen to them. In my opinion these trio still have no base for protest...
- The night patrol... Why they do it...? Even worse, make student do it. Although only prefect do it still make no sense. They still student & underage kids in the first place, no teacher or adult accompanied them, what if something DID happen to them, who'll responsible for them... Why the need to do the night patrol in the first place is really question mark.... It's school for God sake!!! Who's ever see their school have/do night patrol...? See doesn’t make sense...

Ok that's the plot holes i can think of.

slow start, solid drama you wont regret watching.

Parallel World (2023 -9/10 -cdrama

ok this drama is different beast. Its not perfect, but still its story and characters makes up for it enough for me to again sacrifice mine sleep to binge it.

Drama got quite slow start. Like you know right from drama name and openings that this story will be about parallel world and magic beasts., but still it takes about whole 10 eps for leads to finally get there. These fist 10 eps are mainly about introducing main leads and their characters, which I think could be done in just 3 eps quite easily. At least these first eps got some basic romance development which made whole romance storyline stand at quite strong base.

Once we get past slow start. We discover whole interesting magic world full of magic beasts. In way I found this drama quite alike to Alchemy of Soul though its more into modern time.

Even though I am not big fan of mystery theme I loved this drama + found alot of mine favourites actors in supporting roles. Time to add few actors I didnt knew of into mine actors I want watch list.

plot - FL wakes up hanging by rope on tree with big memory loss and just few leads about herself in her bag. In search for her identity she gets to ML who was once very well known desert guide,. Sadly for ML 2 years ago he lost 18 peoples in desert together with his fiance, bodies was never found. FL comes to him with photo of his fiance and wants him to guide her into desert in search for her memories and for him its search for bodies.

genre - mystery, romance, thriller, fantasy

Sounded interesting?

I read the title and synopsis to this drama. Kept my hopes up because the tea smelled good. Going down, though, it tasted like nothing. The first episode was bland. I would like to 'try' to watch the rest of it someday. It's just not on my high priority list. Sooo--I'm dropping it, might watch the rest later, who knows? The acting isn't bad, and the music is fine. The idea of husband and wife cheating on each other throughout the series because they're unhappy. That's something we've seen before and is used often in American and British shows. But we eat up the trope because there's a lot of fighting. In this, you don't really see it. They're leading up to the cheating in such a slow pace that you could skip 80% of the series and have zero problems.

Damsel in distress number 856374552391297467325523615646

I came here after watching "Imperial coroner", my personal favorite c-drama so far. It was suggest in these reviews and comments all around MDL and you tube how this drama has strong, smart and capable female lead. And that 4 people are working as a team, just as in "Imperial coroner". So, my conclusion was that FL is the center of this drama and she is the one pulling strings.

But NO!
FL is far from strong and far from capable. ML (who is kind and best bf/husband material in the world) is the one who always solve cases and he is the strong one. FL is only capable for 2 things: 1) to get angry on ML for no reason and 2) to constantly get saved, over and over, by ML. She just can't do anything right an she can't save herself when she is in trouble. She is a paradigm for what we call "damsel in distress". There is minimum one saving per episode! Annoying and boring because we have seen it so many times. Hated this with all my heart.

To top it all, actress can't really act. She has like 2 expression for the whole drama: 1) blank and 2) I stepped on something smelly. And her cross dressing is soooo unbelievable.
ZLH did decent job considering this was his first acting job. Hope he will take acting lessons and improve, because (I have to admit), I like him a lot.

Cases they solve are "OK", but not up to Holmes name.

Good drama

It was a solid drama with some flaws. It took place over several lifetimes and told a love story between Ye Hua and Bai Qian. The first arc between Sin Yi and Mo Yuan was a little boring. Nothing exciting happened. She became his disciple and trained with him. It was evident that they were close but there was no romance between them. The romance was actually between her and Li Jing who cheated on her and broke her heart.

The saddest arc was between Susu and Ye Hua. Susu was a mortal who was dragged into the heaven realm while pregnant where she was abused, blinded, and then jumped to her death. That scene was very well done and conveyed the hopelessness and heartbreak that the characters felt. It was probably the highlight of the entire show.

The arc between Bai Qian and Ye Hua was sometimes frustrating. Bai Qian was the nine-tailed fox goddess. Nine-tailed goddesses take the form of beautiful and seductive women. Bai Qian was a beautiful woman but she was anything but a seductress. She was actually quite obtuse when it came to matters of the heart, which went completely against whom she was supposed to be. Her interactions with Ye Hua were often awkward. He was very handsy and pushy with her. She looked uncomfortable. Those scenes could have been filmed better with less awkwardness and a little more tact from Ye Hua. I did like their sexual chemistry. It was refreshing to see kisses between adults not looking like toddlers pecking each other on the lips.

The show could have developed Bai Qian's character a bit more where she came into her own as a goddess. She didn't really do much besides sleeping on tree branches and drinking wine. She was a high goddess and answered to no-one. Even the heaven emperor respected her. The only time when she showed any backbone was when she confronted Su Jin. It was a very satisfying scene watching Su Jin getting her comeuppance.

I didn't care about most secondary characters. Li Jing pining after Bai Qian for tens of thousands of years, while ignoring his wife, was very boring. I didn't care about his sister either or anything that was going on in the ghost realm. Even though it was a long drama with almost 60 episodes, there were way too many characters who brought little value to the plot.

Overall, it's a good drama and I watched it twice.

If You're Exhausted From Messy Plots, This One's For You

I like this show and that is weird for me. It is refreshingly cute??? The character with an annoying personality is likeable¿¿¿¿ I'm baffled because there's so much I would normally dislike that I just enjoy in this series. There's the whiny character I mentioned earlier, usually it can make me drop a series if it goes too far but I like the kid, his sense of humor, and whatever bs he's doing at any given time. The characters have some depth but it's not gonna be anywhere near an ocean. There are interesting forays into topics I don't see discussed much in BL (like gender and parental neglect).

The plot is....confusing? Like I'm about to be I'm episode three and I'm still not sure what the plot....is? But that's actually pretty normal for me for slice of life shows/movies, so this must be that. Even though it kinda just feels like watching these people's daily lives, I'm entertained. The characters mesh so well its surprising. It's also surprising that this review is so positive, I thought I was just feeling neutral but it really is fun so far. (I do watch nearly everything on 2x speed, so be aware of that. I've been on 1.5x for this show.) Every time the episode ended on freeze frame I would crack up because nothings happening and there's no cliffhanger, it's just friends hanging out and growing up and such, but it's suddenly like *shing* freeze frame *shing*.

Idk this show feels good. I really like it. I'm almost on ep. 6 now and they're really just living. It's really refreshing to get to see how characters mesh together instead of having to assume a lot because there's a lot of romance the writers are trying to get to. I like everyone so far. That has not happened to me in a show I've watched....ever. Like right out the gate, all the characters are fun and good and likeable??? Wild. You get to see the characters relationship from their interactions and the dialogue instead of from exposition or flashbacks. The dialogue is well-written. I've laughed at some of their antics and jokes which is also rare.

Yall I'm almost done and I'm so pleased, gosh. This is so refreshing. It covers some difficult topics but everyone is so normal. They respond like people, not actors, and they talk instead of...idk staging some huge unnecessary plan for something some words could solve. There was even a love triangle that was handled so well?????? I feel scolded just watching it because I kept predicting something messy would happen but everyone continued acting like adults. I've been watching on 1.25x for the last two episodes and I'm not bored??? It's absolutely mad.

I can easily see how some wouldn't like this one, but I'm not fond of messiness (even if it can be entertaining) so it's really nice to see something that just feels good to watch. I keep saying, "ah I really like this one!" out of no where and smiling because the characters are so sweet. Watch this, yeah? It's a good time.

(at this point, ive begun to assume that if mdl rates something as bad, it'll be good/great and vice versa (except PitBabe))

Not as good as the source material.

The acting is alright. It isn't the shining star to this series. I tried watching it because I liked the manga. But they tried making the live action too 'cute'. Anyway, it isn't my cup of tea, I'm not invested in it. I'm dropping the series after episode 2.

The manga is better than the live action. I would even take an anime adaptation over this. It's a cute idea, but the whole point of this series was the wholesome mixed with smut. There's a lot of wholesome, but no smut, really. I'd say the actress has to put more of herself out there in some scenes, wearing only her underwear. It makes me think she was only viewed as eye candy, personally, I felt hella uncomfortable. Maybe it was because of her personality? She's very clumsy and wants to run away from everyone because of her insecurities. She doesn't know how to keep her cool. Compared to other J-dramas that highlight those qualities of the female/male lead, I feel as if her movements in this live action are too animated. They shouldn't have make this series, that's just my opinion. It would have been better seen as an animation, not live action.

beautiful mess

english is not my first language, so sorry in advance if i make some mistakes while writing this review, plus this review might contain spoilers... also, this is my first time writing any kind of review, but i think hira & kiyoi deserved it, so i'm writing it...

with that being said, let me just begin.

if you decide to watch this series, you'll meet two characters - hira & kiyoi - who for the life of them couldn't be any more different than they already are and there is no possible way you would ever pair them in any lifetime, but as you get more & more involved with their story, you end up realising that those two characters could only be with each other and are in fact a perfect match.

at first sight, hira is a nobody, a loner, a creep, a stalker, annoying and whatnot, mockery to all, being bullied by his classmates. at some point you even start thinking that there's something seriously wrong with him for putting up with such violence & that's that, there is no help. also with kiyoi, at first sight, he's god-like beautiful, but with harsh personality, cruel tounge and overall hard person to go by with.

but once you turn the tables...

you end up seeing hira in a different light - hira is in fact very strong, caring, devoted, shows more determination to express his feelings and has no fear, only the one... to live in a world without kiyoi; even the thought alone can shred him to pieces. and he's beautiful in that way, his strong sense of what he wants & who he is, that's what makes him so beautiful, plus he's def not ugly, like that man is actually attractive.

and kiyoi... he's always god-like beautiful, that never changes; in any scenario, kiyoi is always the mesmerizing one. but because of his past, he's also very insecure, needs constant attention & craves affection that focuses only on him & him alone, all the time, with persons whole being, eyes only fixed on him.

kiyoi had that feeling with only one person in the entire world and it was hira. thousand eyes could look at him, but nobody has ever looked at him the way hira did & nobody ever will.

so kiyoi, who can have any person in the world cause people are literally throwing themselves at him, remains single cause he can't be with anybody he doesn't feel has the same devoted look in their eyes as hira had for him.

as for hira, he always remained loyal to his worship of kiyoi, but has always thought of himself as unworthy of him.

first thing that has to be understood about their story is that it's taking course of several years, not only a few weeks or months. literal years of their relationship were put into 10 episodes (season 1 + 2) that lasted 20+ mins each + almost 2 hours long movie. so we see their relationship progress since highschool till adulthood.

what i loved the most, besides superb acting & story, was the fact that directors did such an amazing job with portraying years long relationship history into such a short episode time & it all made sense, nothing was left unsaid. even if you didn't read the novel first, you could understand everything just from watching. the series script did some changes from the original novel story, but those were not some troubling changes, cause the core of the novel was left intact. (i did read the novel after watching the series, yes, i couldn't help myself & couldn't even sleep until i finished reading volume 1 xd)

and the acting itself, i absolutely loved it. in my eyes, everything that riku & yusei did in that series was just filled with emotions. i loved the way they acted together, and while reading the first volume of their story, i could even imagine their faces, glances, mimics, voices... they are the perfect actors for hira & kiyoi roles. period.

then the story itself... i'll never understand people who are saying that to them hira is not a top, but a bottom & who were genuinley shocked upon learning that hira is the top, while kiyoi is the bottom. to me it was perfectly clear that hira is the top ever since that scene in the series when he clutched kiyois hand & without any shame or fear or anything really confessed his feelings for kiyoi in a heartbeat (was it in episode 2 or 3?), calling him the person he loves most in this world. only a strong person could do that. that was not a behaviour of a weak person. that was a behaviour of a person who knew exactly what he wanted & who he wanted. and it has always been kiyoi. anyway, that scene right there made it all clear to me. and then kiyoi pushed hira away, cause he was afraid of his own feelings.

filmography was also beautiful. it felt like universe only for hira & kiyoi. i loved how the scenery reflected their personalities as well. for example, hiras house gave me this warm feeling that hiras character gave me & for example, shooting scenes with kiyoi gave me that kiyoi celebrity feeling. anyway, i felt like every scene was just perfect reflection of their story. and the music matched their facial expressions so well that at moments it made me cry.

overall, for me this was not just another bl story. it was like a new dimension of bl universe. i have never seen anything like this before, this story is so unique & creative. i applaud the author itself, the script crew, the production team, design team, directors, casting crew... everyone did amazing job with bringing hira & kiyoi story to life.

to say i only loved this series is an understatement. cause this story will forever remain a part of me.

Watch for JHs acting

Personally, I'm really enjoying it! Get past the first couple of eps the plot really picks up along with a good pace. U can develop a lot of affection for the MLs personalities cuz JH portrays them so well, i always get blown away by his acting. The FL is fine too, she's not the most expressive but I know she's an upcoming actress so give her some space.
The plots alright, there r some finer details missing but it's still enjoyable. At the end of the day it's fantasy so take it less seriously.
