I Can't Kick the Puppy
Regarding my rating: Rating it any lower seriously feels like bullying and my conscience simply won't allow it! *groans* Honestly, if I didn't feel guilty doing so, I would be rating it a 6 at the highest."Why R U?" No, seriously, like, why are you? Hearing the original Thai drama was going to get a Korean remake made me feel skeptical as to the quality, to say the least. Seeing it come to fruition, I could not even muster disappointment, because, really, what did I expect anyway? To be pleasantly surprised? LMAO. The original drama already had its problems but at least it had some semblance of a story and plot and sizzling chemistry to distract the viewers.
When I tell you this made less than no sense! Just . . . Why? Trying to think of something nice to say feels like work. The kisses were better than some K-BLs? I don't know, that's all I can seem to come up with!
Save yourself the time and find something else to watch, or go binge the Fighter and Tutor cut on YouTube. We both know you watched it last week anyway. I see you.

Why am i torturing myself?!
This series is one if the most painful I've seen since Dr. Cha on Netflix. I should have dropped this ages ago. The Viki subtitles- are they even Viki - are the worst.Production quality is dreadful. Script is non-existent. So much so, the struggling actor sut in awkward silence half the time.
I do like the actor who plays Ai and I would like to see more of him in the future. Nhai actor is still developing the craft and his character isn't doing him any favors. Support the cast - in another show.

Too long for an uneven pacing SLOW healing drama.
Subjective Gut Rating - 8.25“Meet Yourself” is a beloved drama here on MDL and I can see why so many people are in love with it. I was hoping to love it too, but unfortunately, I only like it. I hesitated to watch this due to its rave reviews and I need time to ensure I am in the right mood to watch this drama. Objectively, this is a great drama but for my subjective rating of my personal satisfaction and enjoyment, I can only give it an. 8.25. I have two main criticisms only but they are enough to prevent me from truly enjoying the drama.
What I Like:
1. Grandma Xie - Who doesn’t love grandma??? She’s witty and funny, and it’s a ray of beautiful sunshine. I love how she defends her loved ones both verbally, physically and emotionally. I love her intelligent way of pulling strings behind the scenes to get what she wants. We need more grandmas like her!
2. Sceneries - Can’t really argue with the picturesque landscapes and relaxing sceneries in this drama. I want to visit this little village and take a long vacation as well. I really like the boarding house with the courtyard, even if it doesn’t have good soundproofing and I might fall on my face when walking down those cobblestones.
3. Acting - Great acting all around… from the youngest to the oldest. Those four child actors are amazing and I believe they use their own voices and speak the lines themselves. The main cast did not disappoint, nor the supporting cast.
4. No annoying characters -Oftentimes, dramas set in the rural areas or countryside will have annoying side characters or villagers. I actually like all the aunties and grannies in this drama. They are loud, but they are not annoying and each of them has their own personalities.
5. Chemistry - Though I think the romance is a little too slow burn, I do think once Xu Hong Dou and Xie Zhi Yao get together, they have really good chemistry. Their display of affection and skin feel natural and mature.
What I have Mixed Feelings or Don’t Like:
1. Slow Pacing - My biggest criticism is the pacing of the drama. I understand this is a healing, relaxing slice-of-life drama. I’ve seen my share of them as well. But the first 20 episodes really are slow with nothing much happening. 40 episodes for a healing drama is too much. I feel that the drama could have spent some time on the stories of the supporting cast in the first half, instead of jamming them all in the second half. There are so many interesting stories that could have been explored more instead of doing so half-heartedly.. The romance can be slow-burn, but when everything is slow, the slow burn romance feels even slower. I am a binge-watcher and I keep on falling asleep (I am also tired from work). Even though I stopped binge-watching and watched only a couple episodes a day, the drama still doesn’t hold my attention throughout. I find myself not tempted to hit the “play” button for the next episode. If I wasn’t persistent in continuing, I could have easily dropped it within the first 20 episodes.
2. Music - I actually quite like the songs in the soundtrack. BUT, they play the songs waaaay too often and too loud, and often the same songs repeatedly for many episodes.. For a healing drama in the countryside, I would have liked to have fewer songs with lyrics blasting when the actors are speaking their lines. Maybe some relaxing instrumental background music to complement the tranquility of the drama (but will I fall asleep more? Mmm….). I was quite annoyed with all the singing.
I would definitely recommend this drama if you are in the mood for a slow, healing, slice-of-life drama. It has beautiful scenery, excellent acting and a very fun supporting cast. The drama is just too slow for me. Additionally, this drama should not be compared to the Korean drama “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”. HCCC is a rom-com with annoying characters. “Meet Yourself” is totally different. Two very different genres and feel to them.
Other Random Observations:
1. FL has so many pairs of sunglasses.
2. There’s a lot of cooking and eating.
3. There are some pretty funny moments, and lovely conversations.
4. Those 4 kids warm and break my heart.
5. Ep 19 is one of my favorite episodes - the mushroom episode brought out so many different emotions.
6. Reminds me of the Taiwanese drama “A Thousand Goodnights”. Both dramas are like promotions from the local Tourism Board.

Worth a watch for Ja and First!
The lead actors are fantastic, but the story is not very well written. I watched the whole thing because Ja and First did a wonderful job with what they were given. Especially considering this was their first time as the main couple in a show. There are only a few acting "growing pains" here and there. Mostly they are very natural, heart-felt, and believable in the wide range of emotions they expressed. And the way they interact with each other is both comfortable and magnetic. Awesome chemistry.Their group of friends and Ja's mother were also enjoyable in their roles.
The script and direction were frequently awkward. Dialogues didn't have a natural flow, or give-and-take between characters. The director seemed to want to show all the latent pauses in-between words or actions that the weakness of the script created. The story/plot required a lot of suspension of disbelief, especially from Ep 7 onward.
Emotionally, there was a whole lot of unnecessary angst, but it was "enjoyable" because of Ja and First's dynamic. In other words, it hurt just right ;)
So if you like experiencing both emotional highs (there's a lot of sweetness too) and lows that are mostly resolved, really hot chemistry and intimate scenes, and can suspend disbelief and logic to go with the flow and not get frustrated, then this is great to watch at least once.
Slight spoiler of the end: it ends well for Ja and First's characters. For me, that's what makes it worth going through the angst!

Great Chemistry from the lead couple!
The most important thing for me when watching drama is the first episode. If I can't stop to continue it, it means that the drama is interesting. That happened to me when I watch this drama. After finished the first episode, I directly continue it. I mean I can't stop to watch it unless it bed time already. (I'm not a type of no sleep because watching drama). The actor, Ding Yu Xi, the acting was good. He is so good in every costume he used. As god, Lu Changkong, Sect Head, Chukong, I like it all. He was so authoritative.
The actress, Yang Chao Yue, I found her very beautiful in here, her acting was good also, she could build a great chemistry with Ding Yu Xi, that is the most important thing.
This drama was so beautiful, the costume, the CGI, I do not like wuxia drama at all, but I found this drama was interesting. I really like it. The costume was so beautiful and good! The story also good. there is nothing to say except I recomend to watch this drama if you want to find another drama with different genre.

This was a wild ride!
Story 1:9/10
My favorite and the most memorable. The chemistry was off the charts and I felt all the feels!
Story 2:
8/10
This was my least favorite for several reasons. So much was happening and it was hard to follow. I don't understand how the one person everyone lied to and manipulated ended up the bad guy. His partner deserved and apology, but the managers did not. Not my favorite ending either.
Story 3:
8/10
I skipped a lot of this because so much wasn't necessary to the plot (the singing and dancing for the show). The story itself was so interesting and the couple had great chemistry. I love their happy ending.
Story 4:
8/10
I hated Aichi (I think I spelled that right?) from the previous story and I have never been so happy to see someone not get a happy ending. I cackled when everything blew up in his face because he is literally the worst lmao. They both deserved so much better than him. However the chemistry was super good. I didn't really feel the connection with Fern though. She was a great actress, but I don't feel like Aichi was giving any chemistry with her.
Overall good. Worth the watch!

An awesome combination of fun, humor, love & romance, cuteness and just wonderful
This series is seriously very sweet and lovely, with a nice mixture of romance, quirkiness and humour. I find the male lead and female lead chemistry of working together is very awesome, even on the romance part. The other casts also did a very good job, including the little boy with his childish cheekiness. The series is not very long - episode wise - and there aren't any overly stressy drama within. It is definitely worth a watch, although rewatching again would depend on individual. The music paired with the entire series is also very very beautifully paired. Great job on this series to all involved! Was this review helpful to you?
I ugly cried so hard
This series is real. It explores all the ways humans simply are - and what makes them the way they are. The directing is almost self-aware: not quite fantasy, but taking on real elements of it and weaving the fairy tales in. I absolutely loved the directing and screenplay of this. The acting also did its job - not over the top, not lacking in any way; simply just conveying what needed to be conveyed.I do tend to cry when I watch things, but this one got me in the feels on another level. Obviously it was picked to maximally convey such feelings (autistic brother, lack of parental presence, mental illness yada yada) but hey I can deal with a bit of unrealistic setting if you make it like a fairy tale :)
