What's the point

I watched the whole thing without even knowing what's the point by the end of it.
Now it's not the first Japanese drama I watch that ends with a vague open end, I don't mind that and I'm fine with it but seriously this one isn't it.

The genre, romance and comedy are non existing, it's just a slice of life with barely any life lessons, just confused people thinking and talking about their failed relationship,
Do they figure out what went wrong? Nope
Do they learn anything from the experience? Nope not really.
Do we learn anything? Not even the slightest, it's really confusing.

I understand that the main theme here is adult relationships, they mentioned that many times but still it's about confused adult that somehow trying to understand what they want in life and in love and by the 8th ep and after one of the side stories character have a long monologue about marriage and kids they finds out that they will always be confused about life and there is no way you'll find your answer in life, you just have to life it come what may, well guess what!? EVERYONE KNOWS THAT!!! Thank you for teaching nothing.
For a "slice of life" drama it was not very eye-opening.
For a character like Mami, she is the most annoying character ever btw, she started off married, and she just keep complaining and acting like a Bi**h to her husband then get a divorce then end up together with her husband... Honey that's just married with extra steps, extra unnecessary and annoying steps, you are just a spoiled brat! Get over yourself!

For Mukai, my sweet confused boy, I totally and completely didn't sympathise with him lol like bro what do you want? They literally gave him many options, the one that want to have fun with no commitments, the one who want to be serious about marriage, a girl that wants the normal relationship with the typical steps, and another that want the full baggage, and you leave all that to fall for a girl that doesn't even want you and end up being the same as you were. And you say character development?? Bi**h where!!???

Long story short, My main problem with this is it felt like a loop, all the characters are at the same spot in their life - except maybe Kouki san- by the end of it.
Making me wonder why did I spend all that time watching it.

Love? Never

The drama’s main plot revolves around a woman whose one defining characteristic is being perpetually sad. Why is she sad? Who knows! The writers certainly didn’t seem to. Maybe because the men in her life are about as reliable as a dial-up internet connection, or maybe it’s because the script was clearly written by someone going through a mid-life crisis and decided, “You know what’s relatable? Pain. Just… constant, nonsensical pain.” Nothing really makes sense, it was unbelievably dull as everything kept going in empty circles through the same events. Every man and woman were interested in the leads for some reason. Breakup was an expected element in such a plot but it was seriously poorly executed. It's the type of breakup you might see in an anime at the first slight misunderstanding, justified by a cheap trope rather than proper character writing. Why would their love be so great? The leads romantic chemistry has all the fire and passion of a wet sponge, it just couldn't sell the viewers on the long distance relationship and love. The drama was just a bloated, meandering, self-indulgent slog that mistakes misery for profundity.

Generic Lustful Men

Imagine a love triangle that’s less about romance and more about how spectacularly uncomfortable and contrived things can get. A plot that goes absolutely nowhere for a full fat 11 episodes. A blind man could recognize and see the outcome of this empty mess at first glance. It was unbelievably obvious from the beginning that Tsubasa will refuse to choose between the two. Well, it was also obvious this wasn't meant to be serious drama comedic, light and playful play on the given situation, however, the execution was the farthest thing from displaying such needed attributes. The storyline teetered between laughably implausible and downright tedious. It's a joyful love story, yet it lacked love, logic, joy or likable characters. The male characters were too damn one-dimensional, they make cardboard cutouts look like complex psychological studies. I've seen more emotional depth in a traffic report. All things considered, the dram was still not as bad as Nakayama Miho's other project "Suteki na Kataomoi (1990)".

Dead End

This drama proved to be much worse than expected and ended up being my least favorite Nakayama Miho project thus far. It’s a 90s slog that moves at the pace of a drunken snail trying to cross a busy freeway. It got some charm buried under all the emptiness and shortcomings, but you’ll need an archaeological dig to find it. The plot was full of second-hand cringe distilled into indigestible form and the lack of chemistry was shocking and deadly with all of her male co-stars! The supporting cast fares slightly better but they were clearly there just to pad out the runtime. To be fair, it’s not all bad. The drama did occasionally capture the bittersweet pain of unrequited love but those moments were few and far between, and they were buried under so much fluff and filler that you’ll wonder if they were worth the effort.

I was so much excited but

everything was fine but that one character death was unnecessary
why did he have to die
everything was going so well
I'm so frustrated
this is a really good drama
I have watched many K dramas and movies and cried for the character deaths and this will be one of them
I understand that had to be done for the plot but I was really heartbroken for the characters death

I'll never forgive the Koreans for this
and I rated this a 1 for re-watch because I cannot watch that character die again
I really miss him ....

One of my top 2 series of 2024…maybe of all time

This series had a hold on me like nothing I’ve ever experienced with a BL. The acting, the complex themes, the mix of intense drama with silly comedy, the gritty but warm vibe, the chemistry…indescribable. I wasn’t a YinWar fan in particular before. That has changed and they’re now two of my favorite actors.

The romance is slow burn and not the main focus at all times—but whenever the two leads are on screen together, even when they’re fighting or misunderstanding each other, their chemistry sizzles.

The theme of the story—how the rich and powerful play games with people’s lives, and how the poor are forced to take part to survive, sacrificing their own morals, mistreating one another, and unwittingly handing over even more power—is so well rendered.

Apparently this show is not for everyone, but to me, it was everything.

Really fun drama

Initially, I really struggled to get into this TV series. They initially made all of the main characters really annoying, and I could not like any of them. It didn't help that it was written in a typical rom com fashion, so everything was over the top and unrealistic. I think it was only after episode 6, everything started to fall into place. The story isn't the best story in the world, it's cliche and predictable to an extent. But the story was written well enough that there were very sad and tear-jerker moments, but also really funny instances. The ML and FL chemistry is the best I've seen lately, they are so adorable together later on in the series. It is definitely worth the watch as a light hearted romance comedy.

Story - 8
If we were talking about just the story, then I would give it a 6. However, the comedic moments showed that this is a rom com and I would give it a 8. It's funny and lighthearted, but balanced well enough with touching moments. There were times I felt really bad for all of the character's situation. Other times it was just so funny I couldn't control my laughter.

Acting - 9.5
Acting was phenomenal all around. Everyone nailed there characters. They were consistent, their emotions were correct, and they had so much charisma playing their characters. I initially watched it for Yeon Woo Jin and he got me through the first few unbearable episodes. But honestly, everyone in this cast are phenomenal actors. I find myself missing everyone in the show, and I hope they could live happily every after together in the drama. Only reason for 0.5 off is because the acting isn't very difficult in this drama, but still done well.

Music - 7.5
Must was good, nothing super memorable but still great.

Rewatch Value - 7
I would rewatch the later parts of the show for fun.

Overall, great show!

Started out very well....

Well! I eagerly waited and watched all 40 episodes aired live on their youtube channel. After watching the first 10 episodes, it was a painful wait and the series felt it was going very well.

But unfortunately after completing it, did not have the same feeling. I just did not feel connected with the series somehow, did not feel the chemistry between the actors. Felt love triangle was unnecessary and also it did not get shown properly with very less screen time. Felt the 3rd ML a bit pitiful, no closure for him even after working so hard. Acting is mediocre. The past of suicide somehow did not feel connected and not a great story (although sad). Or tbh, it was not portrayed well in my point.

Felt actors could have done a more good job at acting. Not really sure of re-watch. Maybe once or twice after a long time.

Surprisingly Enjoyable

I was almost put off watching this by all the negative reviews but it had been on my watchlist for a while and I had been excited to watch it when I first heard about it so I decided to give it a go. I’m really glad I did!

There were lots of things I really liked about this show:

The acting was very good, casting was good and acting was believable. Only downside was the throwback scenes of Ri-an and Jae-I felt a little awkward to me (hence 9 not a 10)

They had a really cool use of shadows in certain scenes, especially in the first few episodes, which helped portray certain messages. For example, there is a scene where Ri-ans mum is talking to him and only he is in the shot with the shadow of her head, but the shadow of her is a lot larger than him proportionately so you can see how she holds herself above him.

The main 4 in the cool clique used each others full names a lot and their parents used their full names a lot of the time, but Kang Ha spoke more informally with their names which showed the status difference and the cold relationships they have.

There was a lot of misdirection so it wasn’t clear who was going to have killed the exchange student until nearer the end when it started becoming more obvious. The first few episodes also had a lot of misdirection around which secrets were getting out and who the blackmailer was which made it more fun.

All in all, I enjoyed the show and am glad I gave it a try!

Truely bland

The main problem is the production and direction, no idea about the acting as they way they were directed boiled down to roughly two facial expressions per character.

The plot is basically a version of What is Wrong With Secretary Kim, but without any humor, or proper direction.
Its starts with how it is colour graded, bland costumes, looks like most of the scenes were shot in a disused modern railway station, there is a lot of walking.

The screenplay and script, There was a story but unfortunately the dialogue was sparse and the silences filled with one of the two facial expressions. A couple of the usual tropes. Perhaps if this was edited to about 8 eps, cut all the repetitive shots, and the making faces like they were sucking lemons, it could have some pace.

My score is for in horse dressage score terms is 5, sufficient, you just went through the motions.

Comfort zone story with insane amount of kiss scenes .

I am mesmerized by this series. My first thought after watching: The amount of kiss scenes in this series is INSANE!! I am not complaining.

The most I love about this series is that:
- it has perfect story without too much overhelming drama
- reactions are reasonable
- characters are reasonable
- parents are supportive and reasonable
- development of the characters

Characters:
- Khem is so trying to be great boyfriend. He goes through a lot to understand and support Wela. He is so real to overcome his jealosy, which is reasonable, to support Wela in his job. I like how there is no need to add extra drama, break up because of something. Just pure development of the relationship.
- Seiji-Ken-Japan: They have very unexpected ending for me and I really love it! Now I want to watch more about three people in relationship, thanks a lot :D. Please give them side story, I am really curious.
- Freya is such a great parent, I adore her!

This series will be my comfort zone when I am too much overhelmed with the negative drama. Then I will come here and let me relax.

Please give S-K-J their own story series, thank you!!

wish it was a full drama...such a nice watch!

first of all, it needs to be said how good the leads acting are. they deserve bigger and better roles, they're really good! the romance was sweet and both their plotlines were pretty fleshed out considering they only had one hour.

the breakup with his ex was not toxic which i enjoyed, and side note, she looks a lottt like bae suzy lol. the fl looking for her father as well and the hair backstory was super touching.

overall, a really cute watch! would've been nice to see this as a 6 episode mini-drama, but i'll take what i can get.
