A rollercoaster that you want to write again and again

This is my first review of a drama I've seen. I have tbh, I'm usually too busy/lazy to take the time to do it. BUT... I'll make an exception for this one. Because the actors, producers and screenwriters should get some credits for this too.

Vibe:
I "briefly" dipped into the first episode and, after five hours of binge-watching, found myself completely emotionally overwhelmed on the couch with tissues and a glass of wine. And a big smile on my face.
This drama is a roller coaster of emotions. The episodes are quite short (around 15 minutes) and I cried, laughed, cringed, and felt second hand embarrassed in EVERY episode.
The chemistry between the actors was great (all four of them).

Actors:
It's a mystery to me how to "play" a cat and a dog, but if two can pull it off then definitely Seonghyuk (Milk) and Jaebin (Choco). Jaebin was such an adorable "doghuman", he played it very well and made me feel that he actually was a dog but in human form. Seonghyuk (despite being incredibly handsome *sigh*) managed to show a "typical" cat behavior without being weird.
Kudos to both.
Hojung (Jungwoo, the owner) was also very good. He embodied the character very pleasantly and managed to give the viewer the feeling that he treasured both of them equally. Seungbin (his boss) played his part of a cafe owner that is struggling but does not try to show it very well.

Plot:
I thought the idea was really good, so I started the drama. I found episodes 10 + 11 a bit rushed but that's unfortunately often the case in KDramas (BL) since you would have much more plot for a full drama but the production is usually shortened to a few.
But beware: Episode 10 you will only survive with at least three packs of tissues.

Entertainment value:
Fantastic. As I said I binged the drama straight away and loved every minute of it. I miss the four already (and it's not 24h ago that I finished it). Some reviews say that the audience cried endlessly in the drama.
YES, that is true. But somehow the balance was right. I did ball my eyes out every episode, but a minute later I smiled like an idiot. It never felt incredibly sad, it had sad moments that fit at that point but not ten episodes of despair ;-)

Rewatch?
YES. Even though you know the end of the drama now, it's just nice to see the story over and over again.

Notes:
For a Korean BL, the actors are VERY relaxed with each other during the kissing scenes. Not just one little kiss, but two uncharacteristically intimate kisses.

I hope this helped a little. I highly recommend everyone to see it. It was truly one of the best BL's I've seen in years!

If you liked Season 1, you will love Season 2

I thought Season 1 was good, but Season 2 really exceeded my expectations. The storyline was written better and the leading FL did an even better job on this one. There were so many funny moments, it was a blast to watch. The sweet moments were really nicely done as well. Evil nasty female rivals, but this FL is no push over. A very cute rival male is a nice addition. A very nicely done Romantic comedy that is not "over the top" as many of the other short dramas that is being cranked out lately. Highly recommend, you WILL be entertained.

Taiwan does it AGAIN!

I loved this series so much! I want a season two with AJ/Alex and Big A/Mr. Chi! I also want to see Bai Lang and Xun An’s wedding! I will miss the cast. I hope to see them again in the future. Bai Lang and Xun An had so much character development, but especially Bai Lang. I will be watching this again in the future very soon! If you are hesitant about watching this series, don’t hesitate! Watch it! It has the same director as We Best Love and a few familiar faces. Can never go wrong with Taiwanese BLs in the first place and yes, it is a happy ending.

Has the era of solid Taiwanese BLs passed?

At 12 episodes long, I can’t help but feel that the show could have been condensed in fewer episodes with less unnecessary drama as fillers for the story arc (i.e. repeated reappearance of the ex, family resistance) such that the storyline became completely diluted.

My Tooth Your Love has all the classic romance (BL?) tropes. Main character with a past trauma thinks he doesn’t deserve to be loved. Tsundere main character 2 who is the archetypal ‘Perfect Man’. An ex that returns mid-series.

The series started off promising with above-average chemistry between a frightened patient and an insistent (and very handsome) dentist). Bailang comes with baggage and Xunan is always around to help him through it.

The main couple was pretty cute together, but I can’t quite figure out if the show was going for a fluffy patient-meets-tsundere-dentist romance story… or a story about two people working through their past baggage together? It seems like the latter but so much time was spent on other details, which is a pity.

One of the side couples had an interesting story that deserved a series on its own BUT I just couldn’t ship them. Perhaps it’s because he’s still in high school, or was it because his character was just so childish? Whatever it is, I just wasn’t feeling this couple. Sorry.

Full of angst, yet also full of confusion?

I was drawn at the beginning when there was just an ooze of mystery covering around Moo-yeong as to what could be his role regarding the suicide/murder at the first episode, what his secret is, and most importantly, what was his role on Jin-kang's life. This kdrama is a great example of arousing questions to the viewer's mind in the beginning to be carefully peeled off as the plot progresses.

For the succeeding episodes, I felt that my interest towards the aforementioned plot points waned a little bit, and just wanted to know how they really are interconnected. Yes, it was a great plot point to showcase who Moo-yeong really is, why there is always angst with his interactions with every character including Jin-kang, but most especially to Jin-gook, and I really like how his sociopathic tendencies were played out, creating this sense of mystery around him. The air of suspicion as to who really killed the girl on the first episode was actually what was only my reason for my overall interest for this kdrama not to totally disappear. It's just that I was just disinterested on the love triangle subplot in the first half, and my disinterest just grew more when it was hastily ended on episode 8, albeit in a shocking way. I get the accident was horrific and that it would be a transition point for the part where Moo-yeong would be able to feel "love" towards Jin-kang. With Moo-yeong's sociopathic tendencies in mind, I actually remembered Lee Joon-gi's role in Flower of Evil from him and I liked both portrayals of being sociopath, both male leads having "grey" characters, and how they were integral for the plot.

Also, I'm 50-50 for the "I can fix you" trope portrayed by Jin-kang to Moo-yeong after episode 8. I guess it was better for Seung-ah to die for them to end up together (?) but the sudden shift of this relationship and Jin-kang only having a short time to mourn her best friend's death to suddenly having feelings to her boyfriend didn't check the mark for me. But at the same time, I also felt it was necessary (?) for that plot point to really embark the more important point of this story, which is the romance between the leads, and finding the answer on what really happened on their characters years ago leading to that moment.

Actually, I already guessed what the "mystery" portion for this kdrama would be despite knowing late that this was actually a remake of a Japanese drama. The introduction of new plotlines and just the hastily ending (it's really more on covering up) of the previous plotlines just to go to the end was the opposite on what I expected when I mentioned earlier about uncovering the necessary details to answer the mystery that is its plot. At that point, I was just confused as to what direction it is going towards. Spoiler alert, I was actually gagged when it was revealed that Jin-kang and Moo-yeong were "siblings", but having also my jaw dropped when it turned out that he was just being toyed by Se-ran just for fun (her having also sociopathic tendencies like Moo-yeong could've been explored more actually). Though it could've just been explained right away by Jin-gook to Moo-yeong that he was wrong to think that on their first "altercation", but again, I was just confused basically on Jin-gook's thoughts at that point (I actually even thought that he had feelings for Jin-kang but thank God it turned out nothing, it was just based on his irrational actions.)

Despite the confusion and the growing disinterest that I felt on the build-up to the last episode, I actually think that the ending was properly executed, and was just appropriate. There were already hints given that I thought might lead to its ending, and I was correct, with the major one being the "I wish I could be reborn" quote by Moo-yeong. Without exploring deeper what the plot points and loopholes that made me confused and disinterested with the last part, I actually felt at ease watching that ending, since I think that they could now be together without any problems, LOL, but I also just could not think what would happen to Jin-gook afterwards. It wrapped the story well with that ending.

The first thought that came to my mind after the last scene was actually that this kdrama is like a math problem in high school, I don't know how I was able to derive the answer with its solution, but nevertheless, the correct answer.

A MUST WATCH!

A MUST WATCH!

This BL series has unlocked a new level of fujoshi in me. When I started this series, I was a bit skeptical but after watching the first episode, I was completely hooked.

I would start with the title significance. I admire the fact that the title is relevant and expressive to the story. This was obviously cherry on top for this brilliant series for me.

This is not just a piece of fiction, not to me at least. 'Not Me' has displayed a variety of issues like illegal workings of the judicial system, how crime and capitalism go hand in hand. This series took a deep dive into youngsters' mindset - how they see the world and in what way they want to change it.

Sure, romance is a recurring theme but it's not at the centre which gives this work of fiction a fresh and inspiring look.

The acting was commendable along with the visuals, ost and storyline. Sure, there were some loose ends (according to me) like the development of Yok and Dan's relationship. Their ending was cute but a little fuzzy.

The chemistry of characters especially with the twin trope was commendable as well. There were stark differences between Black and White that surprisingly fit well with their ideologies and personas.

All in all, you haven't watched BL if Not Me isn't on your list. I would definitely re-watch it and recommend to my fellow BL enthusiasts.

I recommend watching it.

The plot and story were very well thought out. I was shocked at the plot twists in almost every episode.

I read someone saying that they didn’t like the FML’s acting, but I loved Jeon Yeobin’s acting, FMLs don’t usually act that way, so it was nice to see something different.

There were not a lot of romantic scenes, there were more revenge/anger and comedy scenes.

Oh, the comedy in this kdrama was amazing. There’s usually only one actor that would be the funny guy, but on this one there were like 5 guys who would be in charge of the comedy.

Ok Taecyeon… Wow!!! *clap, clap, clap*

Short but sweet

I really liked this show. Like a lot

The whole premise of the show is this time loop situation but it doesn't really get repetitive. Probably one of my favorite cdramas. Characters were pretty developed. Ending was really good. The romance was pretty decent and satisfying too, it was like the perfect balance between a mystery, sci fi, and romance. Personally, I would've loved to see a little more romance, but that's just bc im a sucker for love <3 It gives enough though to leave the show feeling satisfied.

I dont usually rewatch shows, but I might rewatch this one!

Satisfying Your DeDi needs

It's pretty nice.
One thing I enjoyed is the structure - the characters usually travel to a new location and solve one or two cases there.
This keeps everything fresh and fun.
The characters take a while to grow on you, but when they do they are also enjoyable to watch.
Not quite as bonkers and colourful as Tsui Hark's Detective Dee movies, but overall in a similar vein.
I wasn't a fan of the Tang simping, but thankfully the nationalist meltdowns are not that frequent.
Ying Tao best girl.

Gripping and satisfying

This show wowed me.

At first, I was confused why everyone had those ratchet old phones, till I realized the show took place in 2009. It was quite nice seeing some of that old iconic technology.

This show at times got confusing, there were a lot of characters, and it has a couple plot holes. But everything takes care of itself.

It really was suspenseful TBH.. like my heart was POUNDING for several episodes straight and it had me holding my breath for minutes on end.

Ending could be better, but it wasnt bad by any means.

Totally give it a shot! :D

AN UNDERRATED MASTERPIECE

THIS SERIES JUST RIPPED MY HEART OUT AT ENDING.... IT BROKE MY HEART FOR WEEKS AFTER WATCHING THE SERIES BUT THEN I REALIZED ITS TITLE JUST MAKES SENSE, "ETERNAL YESTERDAY". THEY ARE LIVING IN THE PRESENT BUT THEN THE OTHER GUY'S LIFE IS ALREADY SOMEWHAT IN THE PAST CUZ HE'S A LIVING CORPSE AND HIS TIME ON EARTH IS ALREADY FINISHED BUT WITH MICHAN'S LIFE AND LOVE ENERGY MADE KOICHI SO ALIVE. BUT IN THE END KOICHI CHOSE TO END THAT NICE AND MEMORABLE TIME WITH MICHAN BECAUSE IF HE STAYED ANY LONGER WOULD MEAN HE WOULD BE FEEDING ON MICHAN'S LIFE ENERGY AND THOSE AROUND HIM. HE IS SO BRAVE AND SELFLESS WHICH BREAKS MY HEART!!!!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS JAPANESE BL MAKING MY HEART FLUTTER WITH SERIES SUCH AS "CHERRY MAGIC" THEN BREAKS MY SOUL WITH THE MOVIE "LIFE" THEN AGAIN STAB MY HEART WITH "ETERNAL YESTERDAY"❤❤‍🩹💔😭😭 THERE ARE ONLY FEW JAPANESE BL's THAT ARE SO UNDERRATED BUT SO DAMN GOOD. SOME DOESN'T NEED A KISSING SCENE AND YET THEY CAN TAKE YOU WITH THEIR FEELINGS WITH THEIR ACTING. THIS IS WHY I LOVE JAPANESE BL SERIES..

Wow, this is the first drama I watched that has A LOT of plotholes. The drama is great, I love the storylines, I love the casts but the missing plot gave me a headache.
1) where is the first kiss? they did mention their unintentional kiss but there is nowhere to be seen. someone said the kiss is in a deleted scene from episode 6.
2) Suddenly they are both in a relationship? where is the confession? just a flashback?
3) how come the ml suddenly knows that his boss is his GF's brother? I wanna know his reaction.

Overall it's a good drama. just the plotholes were unbearable.

P/s: Sorry my English sucks.

So sweet it'll hurt your teeth

I absolutely love this bl. It's so cute, from beginning to end. The main couple is super adorable though Bai Lang can be a bit oblivious. My favourite couple was RJ and Alex so I'm feeling a bit sad because I was waiting for a kiss or maybe some hand holding, just anything romantic. Was surprised to really enjoy the sister and Xun' ans uni love but I did. Love the dynamic between her and the kid. A and the hockey player were cute as well, from what little we saw of them. Honestly I hope they do a special ep just for the side couples because I need more of them. Over all, please watch this. It's a good refresher if you've been watching any majorly dramatic shows or are just looking for something new. Only complaint is that the dad got literally no consequences for his horrible behaviour and I didn't really like how all that was just forgiven once he accepted Xun' ans sexuality and his relationship with Bai Lang. Other than that though, this show was a ball of fluff with little drama and lots of sweet moments.

TLDR; great cinematography but deeply problematic

if there's one thing this show does brilliantly, it's messing with your mind. there are so many subtle things that put you on edge, for example the odd pacing between scenes; some scenes literally seem like they've been sped up (i still don't know if they actually are or not) and in others the pauses in dialogue are painfully long. of course there's stuff that's obviously unnerving like the dead cat and well everything the ML does but the characters act like it's totally normal and it rlly messes with your mind. so, in that aspect, they perfectly nailed the concept of a psychological thriller.

HOWEVER, as the episodes went on, it got more and more problematic until i eventually gave up after episode 5. and i don't mean the characters, because well obviously a serial killer is problematic -- i'm talking about the stereotypes it perpetuates, especially about autism, that go WAY beyond typical autism stigma. giving the only autistic character violent tendencies and making it out as though it's because she doesn't have emotions? and then, when she finds out ML was the one who led her into an abandoned building to get r*ped and FILMED IT she's not at all upset, instead she gets more interested in him and says "i've finally found someone who's just like me" ??? on top of detrimentally worsening autism stigma, this is grossly offensive to survivors of sexual assault and all women, and teaches men that stuff like this is okay because some women are into it.

while i would like to hope the remaining episodes that i didn't watch would clear this up, from the other reviews i've read it seems like it just gets worse. what a waste of such chilling cinematography.

Would this drama make drink more coffee?

Up to episode 6, it was such a relaxing beautiful watch! I loved the first 4-5 episodes where we followed 2 stories revolving around different types of coffee. When we got around the main lead's background, yes the drama took a turn, but it remained interesting. I think it's in part due to Nakamura Tomoya's acting, it was interesting to see his vulnerable and human side. However, the last 2 episodes became kinda wishy-washy with that 3rd generation boss due to his That self-pity cry-me-a-river coddled spoiled brat persona who's upset he's not the centre of everyone's attention. Like Ewwwww. And the way it was resolved made less sense. I have to admit some punches given were great timing and much-needed.

Up to episode 6, it was a 9.5-score drama for me. Episode 7 brought it down to 5, and the last episode brought it back up, but not enough. Basically what disrupted my joy of watching this drama was the character of the 3rd generation boss.

It is the type of drama you'd want to keep watching and not want it to finish. Therefore if there is a 2nd season, I'd definitely watch it! it'd definitely be better than the first season since we'd get more of what he had in the first couple of episodes, which was perfect and beautiful
