Overall Great Production, directing, and acting
In an escape from a political marriage a chaebol escapes to Macao where she is trying to find her father's illegitimate son who wants to take over her spot as heir. She meets an enforcer of the casinos and becomes entangled in each other's mess. The chemistry is off the charts and the writing and directing was done VERY well. I love how forward and sharp the FL is. She came for a purpose and she got it.Was this review helpful to you?

I loved this!!! I haven't watched anything with the ML before but I absolutely will now!! He's brilliant! He and the FL were perfect chemistry - and though there were only a few kissing scenes - wow, he is a great kisser! :) IU was as always, flawless. She is a masterclass in owning a character. The storyline was believable and had just enough intrigue to keep it interesting. The OST was fantastic, though I am a huge fan of WOODZ.Was this review helpful to you?
I waited over 4 years, for this?
Over four years of waiting, not to mention all the legal issues and behind-the-scenes drama, and this is what we get?This was one of the most confusing series I’ve watched in a long time. Every episode deviated so heavily from the last that you were constantly playing catch-up, only for any new information or major development to happen in the final three minutes of a 20-minute episode.
I can’t even fully fault the bad acting because it genuinely felt like the script and direction gave the cast nothing solid to work with. The characters were written in such an inconsistent and frustrating way that almost everyone came across as unintelligent — especially Wooju and Hyeok. Not to forget how it was hard to understand any of what was happening.
The one redeeming thing about this series was that we FINALLY got a JeffBarcode kiss.
Honestly, Wooju Bakery had potential. The premise could’ve worked really well if the series had been given more time to breathe. Eight episodes at around 20 minutes each just weren’t enough. This should’ve been a standard-length BL with hour-long episodes so the relationships, plot points, and emotional moments could actually develop naturally instead of feeling rushed and half-explained.
The tone was also all over the place. The show constantly flipped between sweet, goofy comedy and intense melodrama so abruptly that it gave me whiplash.
And on top of all that, GagaOOLala’s subtitles were genuinely distracting and frustrating at times. Overall, this was a really disappointing watch considering how long fans waited for it.

Not Interested in this Drama
I honestly tried to get into this drama, but the plot just isn’t interesting enough to keep me invested. The story feels very slow, and a lot of scenes seem unnecessarily dragged out without adding much to the overall development. Instead of making me excited for the next episode, it feels like the drama keeps repeating the same emotions and situations over and over again. The pacing is probably the biggest issue for me because it takes too long for anything important to happen.This is a same novel author of Speed and Love, and the difference is really noticeable. Speed and Love Drama knows how to balance romance, emotional moments, and story progression without making the episodes feel boring or overly long. The chemistry between the leads there feels much more natural and engaging, and every episode gives viewers something memorable to look forward to. Even the emotional scenes in Speed and Love Drama feel stronger because the characters and relationships are written in a way that makes people genuinely care about them.
In this drama, however, the characters feel less compelling, and the romance doesn’t have the same emotional impact. The interactions between the leads lack excitement, and the story progression feels weak compared to the smoother storytelling in Speed and Love Drama. That drama manages to keep the audience emotionally attached while still moving the plot forward at a good pace, which is something this drama struggles to do.
Overall, I personally think Speed and Love Drama is much better in terms of pacing, chemistry, emotional delivery, and overall entertainment value. This drama had potential, but the slow execution and uninteresting plot made it hard for me to stay fully invested.

1A rollercoaster ride of powerful emotions and heartbreaking moments
Subjective Gut Rating: 8.75 (rounding up to 9.0)It’s hard to describe if I love or LOVE “We Are All Trying Here”. This title aptly matches what every single character is going through. There are so many emotional and special moments that it was hard to pinpoint which I love the best. But the first that came to mind is the end of ep 3, ML’s realization of who he truly is after the accident. What a powerful, powerful moment!!
Having said that, in the end, it didn’t quite hit me in the rating scale as “My Liberation Notes” (between 9.0-9.5). That is not to say “We Are All Trying Here” is not as good, it just brings out different emotions, and for someone like me who loves romance, the romance in MLN hits differently and leaves a deeper impact. I mean, there's Mr. Gu in MLN. But I also LOVE the romance here. It just hits differently.
Even though the drama follows the career of Hwang Dong Man (ML), I think the focus is on the different relationships in this drama. I am not talking about just the romance between Hwang Dong Man and Byeong Eun A (FL). In addition to this romance, we have the complicated friendship/competition within The Eight, different family dynamics, co-workers support/competition/camaraderie, traumatic history, and more. Each character brings out a different emotion in me. Some I want to strangle, some I want to hug, some I want to be friends with and some I want to punch. Even for Hwang Dong Man, he did not have a very likable introduction, but I’ve grown to love him.
I want to highlight a few of those special relationships:
Huang Dong Man + Byeong Eun A = Love this pair. They are soulmates with extremely different personalities. Their “Unknowns” break my heart. Their romance is so subtle yet so powerful. They show a different side of themselves when alone. They share their darkest secrets, deepest fears, full emotions, honest feelings and open communication. I am so happy that they found each other.
Hwang Dong Man + Park Gyeong Se = I have to say, I was a little annoyed by their back-and-forth childish behavior in the first half of the drama, and I might have found it a little repetitive. But I was deeply moved when I learned about their deep friendship, and Hwang Dong Man’s confessions and regrets. That confession is one of the highlights of the show for me.
Ko Hye Jin + Park Gyong Se = I love Ko Hye Jin. She’s such a kickass bosslady. I enjoy witnessing the dynamics and relationship between them. Their heartbreaking realization towards the end was further magnified by these two veteran actors' excellent performances.
Hwang Dong Man + Hwang Jin Man = These brothers have an unconventional way of caring and protecting each other. I wanted a little more of their past, but maybe the writer wants me to fill in the blanks given what I’ve been told.
I really didn’t have any expectations coming into this, even with all the rave reviews I’ve seen. I wasn’t sure if it’s really my cup of tea but I was craving something melo. In the end, I am so glad I chose to watch this, and will recommend “We Are All Trying Here” wholeheartedly if you are looking for powerful stories about deeply flawed characters. The acting is terrific all around and their stories bring me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. This drama might not have hot oppas (trust me, there isn’t any) but the real plot is enough to keep you engaged and entertained.

Good Acting and Chemistry
After her fiance, family, and childhood friend says he wants an open marriage the FL is broken hearted and starts a relationship with the ML who is the fiances best friend. There was a lot of hate on the female leads acting but I found her demure and meek characteristics fit the character here. She has no family and no backing. She's a doctor and earns a salary so she can keep a roof over her head but being able to financially support yourself is not the same as having no living relatives in the world. This leads me to the next bit. Yes, I get why she is reluctant to officially break off the engagement. It has nothing to do with the fiance but to do with his grandfather who took her in when she had no one and nothing. His grandfather is the only family she has. She's emotionally and physically done with the fiance (or ex-fiance at this point). Moving onto the main lead. Liang Si Wei really shone in this character and you feel the chemistry coming off the screen. Many of the scenes felt like he was coaxing a kitten (head and chin scratches) TBH I was surprised there was no cat involved. Overall, a nice fluffy drama without too much green tea and no ridiculous kidnappings.Was this review helpful to you?

The Invisible Protagonist
"I just finished the last episode with a knot in my chest. The ex-boyfriend didn't want her back – he wanted her respect. And when he finally got it, he had to leave again. The husband is good, present, he loves her. But the chemistry, the history, the tension… all of that belonged to the past. And the worst part: the series forced the main couple after the revelation, like it was trying to convince us she made the right choice. But deep down, we know: the real story was his. “Battle of Survival”
I think most people will misjudge this drama and its focus on what it’s trying to portraythe drama is actually more on the survival and thriller side and less on Methodical Logical investigation
and what this survival side does to the human conception of the word “trust” because human nature leans toward trusting than untrusting at first
and can one person achieve his happiness by joining dangerous path ?
so if you understood this part then the drama will be highly entertaining to you and will make you feel all the emotions from the beginning until the end
the drama has many good points , starting with our main characters “heeju” that want to lead a happy life since her life wasn’t good since the beginning.., heeju the girl that never got involved with the gangs world suddenly becomes part of it
this alone makes you want to “see” what will happen to her and how she will handle it
then you have woogy who will follow her to satisfy his needs from the golds
the villains and her boyfriend as the third party in this war of survival
all these coming together to make a good story
not to mention the directing 💯
top tier with the cinematography and the theme and colors
the actions scenes too
I am really satisfied with the drama and I don’t have many problems with it tbh except the ends
didn’t like it that much and I hoped the police took part in the story as a whole but you know I understand the writer intentions here
Disney usually struggles with dramas but they nailed it for me in this one

This is revenge for all the awful princes in CDramas
Tian Xi Wei is the sun and I’m just happy we get to gaze upon her glory. I fell in love with her portrayal of Fan Changyu and I fear I’m going to fan girl every role I see her in. Her character is a bit of a Mary Sue but it suits the feel of this show.This is an ensemble show and like Bridgerton our “lead” couple seems to not get enough screen time for a large part of the show. I found myself fast forwarding through parts but this is an easy feel good watch with lots of feminist narratives without the blatant Proselytizing found in other female forward CDramas.
As much as I loved Yin Zheng and Li Wei’s story this show is for the girls. I loved the constant show of female friendships and connections, the joy of pouring into each other and being the beauty of found family. I definitely crowns in Ep 40 where the girls saw themselves in the newest selection group.
I do think the main villain left too early. As much as I hated him he kept things spicy. This will definitely become a show that I’ll rewatch just for the nostalgic feeling.

É uma história muito interessante, tudo que eu pensei no começo tava errado. O roteiro vai dando uma enganada na sua mente, te faz pensar que a trama é óbvia, mas depois explode a cabeça. Recomendo, fora que pela quantidade de EP você consegue assistir em um dia. Eu dei nota baixa na OST, porque sinceramente eu não prestei atenção nenhuma nessa parte kkkkkkkkkk mas a sonoplastia é muito boa, a tenção que passa e a atuação da Kim Go-eun está impecável como sempre. A phenomenon…
This score might seem a little unfair but this season is predictable and doesn’t have a good ending. What I can praise is the visuals and the characters. They are perfectly executed that it’s no wonder it became such a phenomenon. You’ll fall in love with a character but their future isn’t promised. Misogynistic and dated even for 2015
A drama where the female lead doesn’t have control over her own life. Forcing her to do what he wants, she has no say in her life and is unhappy living in the city. Why can’t she make he own choices, want things… When she wants something he wants her to give up more of her life and friends. A contract and constantly degrading her. He’s toxic but he could’ve been so much more… whatever. She gets sidelined for the male lead, he’s the main character. Amazing but not queer enough
Amazing story of a man going into the body of a queen. It sounds silly but I would say this is really a political show. The longer runtimes allow so many subplots and side characters that I love. I mean a love triangle that overlaps with 2 other love triangles is so genius and complicated I had to make a chart. The twists and schemes are crazy, it’s tense and even messier than any show I’ve watched. My only issue is that it’s not queer enough, it tiptoes around queer themes by never going any further than bromances and flirting. I mean he’s a woman and he likes woman so he should be lesbian but no let’s have him with a guy but not make it gay. It would’ve been less effort to just make it gay.Was this review helpful to you?
Less compelling and more questions
After the amazing cliffhanger of season 1 I was hoping this season would give me answers. But instead it left me with more questions. This season also feels wayyyy less tense and the vibes are completely different. Focuses too much on the live streamers which I didn’t like in season 1, so of course I hate that they have an expanded role here.Not terrible just a little disappointing.
