Freen and Becky are chemistry icons.

Up to this date the air is the best tv rated gl show ever with it's 2+ rating every single week until the last episode. It proves that freen and becky are not just for hype or for online videos but they can also leveled with other shows on live tv. The show was a bit rush and not as polish but to be fair the production had a lot of problem with the scheduling and idol factory stepping back from the project but still it continued. The acting of the leads and even the side characters and villains. The characters Henry and Grace did a very convincible villain. All and all the chemistry of freenbecky bag it for me. All and all i'm waiting for freenbecky's next series.

Strong Performances, Forgettable Story

The male and female leads both did a great job with their performances.
This is my third drama with Bai Lu. I've previously watched her in Till the End of the Moon and Only for Love, and I was never particularly impressed with her acting. At times, I found it a bit immature. However, she completely changed my opinion in this drama. Her performance was consistently strong from the very beginning, especially through her dialogue delivery. The scene in Episode 34 where she cries at the tomb was absolutely outstanding and, in my opinion, one of the best emotional moments in the series.
As for the drama itself, I thought the plot was easy to follow and well-structured. However, I found the overall pacing quite boring. It took me forever to finish because there were several episodes where I couldn't stay engaged. Sometimes I just let the show play in the background so I could eventually finish it and cross it off my watchlist.
Overall, while the acting especially Bai Lu's was a pleasant surprise, the story never really captivated me. I was honestly surprised to see so many people calling it the best period C-drama of 2026 so far. It simply didn't leave that kind of impression on me.

2ML - The Most Intriguing Character

The Legend of Rosy Clouds is a pretty weird watch. Parts of it are honestly super boring, but the humor is quite good that it kept me hooked. I think the drama has a low rating because it starts with a trope that a lot of romance fans aren't crazy about: an immediate divorce and a messy love triangle. The main couple gets married right in the first episode, but they split up almost immediately, even though they still care about each other.

The reason? The female lead, Fan Yun (played by Li Yi Tong), doesn’t want to be a traditional housewife. Her dream is to become a government official. Her husband, Governor Qi Zheng (played by Joseph Zeng), sees her potential, grants her the divorce, and actually helps her chase her dreams. He is totally devoted to her, but unfortunately, she just doesn't feel the same way. Then we have a second guy who also adores Fan Yun. He will do absolutely anything to protect her, in his weird way, even though Qi Zheng usually beats him to it.

At its heart, this is a story about a woman fighting for equal rights so that everyday people and women can work in the government. It feels really modern, and it definitely reminded me of the real world, where older men still hold all the power.

The show takes way too long to get going. The first 20 episodes are a slow burn just setting up Fan Yun’s character, her goals, and her relationships with the two guys. Because it takes so long to build up, the first half of the drama feels like a drag. If it weren't for the funny moments, I might have dropped it.

Things finally pick up after Episode 20, but the writing is still all over the place. For example, a massive rebellion randomly happens out of nowhere. There is no buildup and no introduction to the rebels; they just suddenly appear. It felt like lazy writing just to force a plot twist. The villains are confusing too. One of the powerful "Elders" starts off looking like the big bad guy, but by the end, the show tries to make him a hero. It’s fine to keep the audience guessing, but it doesn't work when the character is just unlikable. To top it off, a whole new family (the Zheng family) pops up in the final episodes. Most of them are totally flat characters, yet they suddenly become a huge part of how the story ends, making the finale feel messy.

The best part of the show is how weird and quirky the characters are, though the writers didn't really do much with them.

There is a guy who constantly gets lost, but somehow he is a top official. There is a guy who plays a flute that everyone hates; he wins second place in the court exam and then just vanishes from the show for no reason. Then there's a boy medical genius who wins first place in the court exam and turns into a master martial artist whenever he drinks alcohol. He was cool, but his character development just stops, and he becomes background decoration. There is even a masked official who wears super bright, colorful outfits but never takes off his mask or contributes much after his introduction. They are all fascinating concepts, but they end up being pretty one-dimensional.

On the bright side, Joseph Zeng does a great job as Qi Zheng. The character isn't written very well, but Joseph’s acting and his big, expressive eyes completely save the character. I also really liked Deng Wei’s character, Zheng Shi (who goes by Lou Qi Yan when pretending to be a foreign trader). He leads a double life, defying his grandfather's wishes to become a top official so he can live a free life as a merchant instead. He’s a morally grey character, and Deng Wei totally aced the role.

For me, the sweetest part of the whole show was the relationship between Zheng Shi and his grandfather. It was so heartwarming. Honestly, I gave the drama a higher rating just because of them. It really hits home because anyone who has lost a parent or grandparent knows that feeling of regret for not listening to them while they were here.

Because I loved that relationship so much, I am disappointed about how the writers ruined Zheng Shi's ending. He was such a cool, complex character who started as a villain (kind of) but became a trusted friend to Fan Yun. But in the end, the writers turned his love into a toxic obsession. It totally ruined his image and ruined what could have been a really tragic, beautiful love triangle.

My Final Verdict
The Legend of Rosy Clouds has major pacing issues and sloppy writing. It spends way too much time spinning its wheels on character introductions and side characters that don't matter. But even with all the plot holes and frustrating choices, the comedy and the occasional emotional moments make it a decent watch. Watch it when nothing else to watch.

Good plot bad execution

This series has a good plot but bad execution
One among the things that affect it is pace it is so slow you get tired of it after episode 2.
They had a nice storyline that could have made this amazing and keep us on our toes instead they gave us a taste of something sweet and then left us like that just reminding us that we tasted something sweet than continuing giving it to us.

Let me give you an example the first episode human vapor shows his power and tell everyone he will do it again live on national tv and then story goes to somewhere else and then stay there until the end they come back to good stuff.

You can watch but you wont be satsified with it.

Misery...

On paper this is perfect, and between Lighter & Princess and The First Frost I've enjoyed my fair share of second chance romance cdramas. The main leads here have really great chemistry and I love that the FL is realistic and practical; it's refreshing to see an FL that's not your typical bubbly and naive one. And I'm so happy that they let her use her own voice and dressed her accordingly — this drama let her be a baddie because her post-timeskip outfits were SO pretty :^)

With that being said, in practice, I found the story kind of...miserable to get through. The villains were downright evil and I felt like they such a huge impact on the actions of the leads and thus the overall plot that I couldn't fully enjoy it. Even when it was a scene that was supposed to be happy or fun, I felt like I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and there was a dark cloud hanging over everything — I didn't really start enjoying everything in full until after the time jump and reunion, which didn't come until too late in the show in my opinion.

I'm disappointed because I think I would've really loved the leads otherwise.

Beautiful.

This series is honestly just so so beautiful it brought me to tears. Love these actors, so much emotion and their chemistry is just amazing. The right music at the right times. The plot twists, the emotion from all the characters honestly amazing acting overall. I loved the story, loved everything about it. I just wish the ending could’ve been longer or like a special episode maybe.

The chemistry between Zhang Jingyi and Song Weilong gets even better in their adult years

I'm on episode 11 and the adult timeline makes the story so much more interesting. Even though they are not on good terms right now, the chemistry between Zhang Jingyi and Song Weilong gets even better in their adult years. You can feel the tension, history, and unresolved feelings in every scene. Their acting is really natural and makes me want to keep watching to see if they can fix things. Love For You is sweet but also emotional. Highly recommend💯

The Later episodes along with good PR saved this show and made it what is

Let me start by saying I don’t think it’s a bad drama. The later episodes were okay, but the first part…..like the first 12 episodes? EEEEYUCK!!!!

Everything about those first few episodes rubbed me the wrong way. I know a lot of people are going to say, “But he didn’t like her then.” “It was just a one-sided puppy crush,” blah, blah, blah. While that is technically true, the story is being told from HER point of view. I’m not in his head the way I’m in hers. I’m not insinuating anything, but it’s still something to think about.

Outside of that, I hated and frankly felt completely uncomfortable with how the writing purposely created situations that allowed the two of them to constantly end up ALONE together in small, enclosed spaces. Yeah, nothing inappropriate was actually done, but some things just don’t sit right with me.

The slow-motion shots whenever she stared at him, the romantic background music, the way it was portrayed as though she’s the only one who “gets him”… If it’s supposed to be a one-sided puppy love, what was the purpose of turning these regular interactions into romantic scenes with slow-mo editing and a sentimental soundtrack?

And it went on for like 12 episodes……..basically half the whole show. One or two episodes would’ve been enough. Then they could’ve done the time skip to college, which would’ve felt much more appropriate.

There’s nothing wrong with age-gap relationships, but in this case, those first few episodes just weirded me out a bit. Even though I know the male lead wasn’t in love with her or romantically interested in her at the time, the way certain scenes were edited where she’s in her school uniform and he’s in regular clothes, clearly emphasizing their age difference, paired with her baby voice and his much more mature one just left me stunned.

Those scenes weren’t doing what they were supposed to. They were clearly meant to come across as innocent and from a place of admiration, but the editing intentionally made them feel inappropriate. I honestly would’ve preferred if they had kept a little more distance between them and not made them seem so close or familiar during that stage of the story.

Anyway, I think the directors made some very questionable choices there.

Then HE was the one who confessed, and I was just like… Okay, when did you suddenly start seeing her as a woman instead of that little girl you used to tutor?

I just wish I had never started this drama. I don’t have a problem with it as a whole, but those first few episodes left such a bad impression on me that I couldn’t stop thinking about them. Even when the story moved on and became more tolerable, I kept getting pulled back to those early scenes and feeling uncomfortable all over again.

So no, I didn’t hate the entire drama. The later episodes were okay. But because of how strongly I disliked the first part, I spent the rest of the show overthinking things and getting disgusted whenever my mind drifted back to those early episodes.

VERY WEIRD.

worth watching. a slow burn but story filled with so much love

this has to be one of my very loved dramas. the way sang yan yearned and wen yi fan who doesn't want to burden others and find ways to protect herself. can feel a bit slow and repetitive with the sleep walks but the built up of their love story was so well connected, that the ending was just perfect. so much emotions and love for the drama. I loved all the characters but tbh didn't give much thought to the support character's love line much.

First Episode

It was funny. The male leads are handsome and their interactions are a little bit romantic. Sure there's an age gap, but it doesn't feel like there is a huge gap. The train scene isn't fun with the groper, but it's part of the story and it's short. I don't think it was victim shaming by warning him to be careful about not letting other travelers see what apps he is using.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes!

Absolute perfection. A dark, shatterning masterpiece that redefines GL

I cannot even fully explain how I feel after finishing this series. I didn’t just watch it; I devoured it. This show completely destroyed me in the best way possible. I have watched many series before—including top-tier BLs like Not Me or KinnPorsche—and while I enjoyed them, I have never cried so purely from the bottom of my heart until now. Broken (Of) Love is a masterpiece on an entirely different level.
Until episode 5, the show was already incredibly high quality, but episodes 6 and especially 7 completely shattered me. Episode 7 is easily my absolute favorite. The emotional depth and the acting are mind-blowing.
Lalin is a walking angel. The scene where she learns the truth about why Arisa did what she did, and she responds with so much unconditional devotion, made me sob. When she says she doesn't feel a single ounce of hatred because she actually understands Arisa's trauma... that is the ultimate form of pure love. She chooses understanding over anger in a world full of wreckage.
What makes this show a 10/10 (honestly, a 1000/10) is that it doesn't just focus on a shallow romance. It is a heavy, dark, psychological thriller that respects the depth and pain of women. The plot twists genuinely shock you. The commentary on the abuse of women is played so powerfully. The moment Wei Ling stays to help destroy the body of an abusive husband just to protect the woman she loves hits incredibly hard. It shows the terrifying reality of women having to become cold-blooded to survive monsters together. Even the generational love story between the mothers is so rare, beautiful, and monumental.
My deep apologies to Lalin's mother for ever doubting her—she is the ultimate green flag!
If you want a shallow, easy romance, this isn't it. But if you want raw emotional intimacy, breathtaking acting, a gripping dark plot, and a story where women fiercely protect each other against all odds, watch this immediately. This is PEAK television.

Too Short & Too Vague for the Intended Impact

Looking at the high praise for this drama, I find myself wondering if I might have missed something. If you were to ask me to rate this on the cinematography, location, ambience, acting by our 2 main leads, and the music, it'd be an easy 10/10. But if we're going to talk about the plot, dialogue, the coherence of the story being told, that's where you lose me.

These leave me largely confused and disappointed for the following reasons

1. Lack of dialogue - It is no secret that I am not the biggest fan of stories told in silence. I enjoy dialogue in a story. You do not need to explain every sequence of events or every emotion to me. That's not what I need. Characters do not need to talk much, but when they do, it needs to be meaningful.

The use of dialogue in the story needs to tell me who they are, what they are feeling, their motivations, etc. This story lacks that. When our mains spoke, they often made me feel like I was in a philosophy class or something. It's cryptic and almost poetic, which is hella weird when you remember that

a. They are very young - In my head, Xiao Zhi was 16 at most, while Chen Li was 18, maybe 19. Imagine my shock at seeing XZ in uni
b. These cryptic, poetic, philosophical conversations were meant to be everyday, regular conversations. It felt like they wanted to make Xiao Zhi deep and maybe a little angsty, but in the end, it made him and his conversations a bit convoluted.

2. There's a lot of nothing going on in the first 4 and a half episodes - It's all nothing, but it is largely nothing. They spend their time running around in the orchard and the rain, eating fruit, talking about birds philosophically, watching each other swim and paint, and subtly touching. This is great. It shows us how those feelings developed. But it felt like a very drawn-out montage.

Because they do not talk about anything important, I ended up not feeling the impact of these moments.

While some commenters and reviewers say that the latter half was disappointing, I actually liked it more than the 1st half. Because this is where conversations happen. The dialogue that was lacking in the beginning is here, and it helps you feel more. It adds weight to what the show is trying to say. Helps you get into the minds of the characters and understand them

3. The resolution - They get their happy ending, but it doesn't feel earned. Especially from Chen Li's side. He ghosts Xiao Zhi for a year, comes back talking about 'I'm also your brother', ghosts again for 2 years, comes back with lychees just when Xiao Zhi is starting to move on, they have one micro conversation in Chen Li's house, and suddenly they live happily ever after...? Eh? This whole sequence left me with so many questions

a. How did XZ know the area that CL lived in?
b. What was that weird running sequence they showed us? Seriously, does anyone know why XZ was mimicking bike riding while running alongside that one bike rider on the street?

c. Why didn't they go deeper into Cl's struggles with accepting XZ's feelings outside the summer camp? Was it society as a whole that made him scared, or did it have something to do with XZ's weird-ass meddling brother?
d. Why was XZ's brother the way he was?
There are so many unanswered questions and unexplored things for me to be satisfied with the plot and overall progression in this story

All in all, I find myself thinking that 'Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island' is beautiful but empty. Visually, it's stunning, but emotionally, it's hollow. Like a sneeze that never quite materializes
