the sacred energy of Mount Jiri and a murder mystery -- a perfect summer binge

A good thriller with a great splash of the supernatural, worth the watch. The setting on the majestic Mount Jirisan, one of the great sacred mountains of Korea, makes this a perfect summer binge -- the perspectives across the misty ranges and ridges of this huge park alternate with dark shadowy intense scenes among the trees and cliffs where the action occurs.

The spiritual energy of the mountain makes it a popular tourist destination and the rangers who care for them and the park are devoted to the mountain itself. A serial killer is loose and a ghostly spirit emanating from a comatose ranger aids in the search for who the killer is and what his motives are.

The strange and sad limitations of this spirit's abilities are realistically delineated. This is not a comedy. There is some quiet romance but in essence this is a mystery story with a really interesting ghost. The moral core is the way evil deeds have a way of living on and affecting the future of a community unless they are exposed and punished.

This is a really beautiful show and emotionally very satisfying. You will really enjoy it, I guarantee it.

Such an underrated gem!

OhEmGee - the Leads’ chemistry is hot! 🔥 It leaps off the screen & pulls you right in from the first episode. And it doesn’t let you go even when the show is over…

The FL, a rising theater actress, ends up held hostage by a mafia-like crew. When a high-ranking member lays claim to her, she fears the worst. But there seems to be more to this ML as, instead of hurting her, he protects her from the others. More tragedy strikes when she’s rescued & he’s presumed dead. But when he’s suddenly in front of her 5yrs later, going by a different name & claiming not to know her, she’s left confused & becomes determined to uncover the truth of his identity & what really happened on that island years ago…

There are no dull moments or slow pacing with these two. Even when truths come to light & the FL walks away because of the lies, there’s still an intense pull between them as the ML refuses to lose her again. And as they navigate their way through working out all the big issues, they nurture a love to be envious of. A love that will never let go or fade away.

Filled with swoon worthy kisses & heart warming glances, this will have you melting for the Leads! 🫠 If you’re in the mood for romance mixed with action & some mystery, give this drama a try.

And be sure to check out “Love of Replica” to get more of our Leads on the screen together! 🫶🏻

Left me blue but for the wrong reasons

There was a lot of hype for this one especially since it almost got cancelled (and it's a Chinese BL in times where you won't expect a Chinese BL), so perhaps I had some unrealistic expectations going into it.

I almost gave up in episode 5. What was going on with the script and production... The dialogues were chunky and awkward, the story didn't have a good smooth flow (great job in episode 12 summarising the key bits in writing and time jumping to happy times), the music got cut off midway without proper transition to a new scene (this is extremely disruptive and prevents people from really being immersed in the story), the acting and cinematography was over dramatic at times (over-dramatic lighting, unnecessary switches in focus, yes all very indie-like but yet somewhat lacking).

This was a really difficult watch for me and I was left rather disappointed and blue, not because of the story, but because this was poorly made and it could've been much better. I believe the actors tried their best to deliver but it just wasn't enough. This was a high school project trying to be an Indie film.

A fun watch could have been better !!!

The cast is fantastic, but some character decisions felt overly silly. While certain scenes were drawn out and unnecessary, it was still an enjoyable watch overall. If there's a Season 2, I’d love to see the guys become more ruthless, as they seemed too soft for the violent theme. The side characters were great, though a few could have been spared instead of being killed off. Despite its flaws, it’s definitely a fun series with potential for even better development! Special highlight were the boxing style fights !!!

This made me sob!

Such a heart touching story told in just one hour. Every thing about was perfect, the actors did an excellent job I could feel every emotion portrayed by the sisters, Haneul seemed genuinely concerned and hurt by her sister's condition, and I could feel the love in the father's eyes just wonderful. I cried hard throughout last few scenes.

The music suited every scene and Kim Yang provided just the right amount of humor to an otherwise devastating story without making a mockery of such a serious matter.

I highly recommend, it's one of if not the best of these specials in my humble opinion.

An easy (slightly irritating) watch

Will a drunken night lead to a blossoming office romance…?

While I did overall enjoy this drama, the beginning was super frustrating. It starts with our FL struggling with the decision to end her current relationship due to her partner cheating on her or give it another shot. And I get that she’s been with him 10 years and invested so much time and effort into it but just…ugh. Dump him! He’s so freakin’ annoying and condescending to her - like, he doesn’t get her at all. So even without the huge deal of his infidelity, he’s already a toxic guy who doesn’t deserve her. 😡

Enter the ML and *swoon* - girl, be with him instead! 🫠 Seriously, our guy is so into her and really sees her in ways her current dude never has. He just gets her. And even though they start off with misunderstandings and false perceptions of one another, their attraction is immediate and their chemistry palpable.

So yeah, because of the tension between them due to her pushing him away to give her current dude another shot even though the one she truly wants is clearly the ML, the first half of this frustrated me. BUT, when she finally sets herself free and our Leads get together, happy sigh & happy dance because they. are. it! 🔥

Once they’re a them, it’s done. They don’t let anyone come between them. They refuse to bow to outside forces, they fight back against any attack. They’ve committed to one another and no delulu love rival, jealous ex, or cruel scheme will break them. So while the beginning brought frustration, the happy ending totally made up for it 😍

Side note: I didn’t feel much interest for any of the support cast (characters, not actors!) They were just kinda…there. I’d have preferred less of them and more of the Leads, but it wasn’t a huge annoyance or anything.

Watch To Reduce Your Survivability Skills

This is a sequel to the Zombieverse, with returning characters from the storyline. However it is getting sloppy and terrible with the scripting, that the writer needs to relearn how to write creative writing for scripted series. And do not compare this with The Great Escape, they are totally from a different set of crew and broadcaster. At least compare with The Zone: Survival Mission, since every episode is made into a survival game match, and that iconic cheap highlighting UI across every element. Nonsensical drone shot out of no way at times, that doesn't highlight anything. Zombieverse series wasn't exceptionally great in the first one, but it is still better than this second season. Characters in this season, tend to become much more dumber and lack cognitive thinking during situation. It was pure screaming, shocked, awe, and stupid zooming in.

The plot could have been planned better, if there was already decision for this to be spread across two seasons. No point to have them escaping from Seoul, then going over to Jeju Island only to get back to Seoul again. It is already mentioned that the state of Seoul is under lockdown and everyone have to escape to the island. It is great that you want to have another set of team entering, as though there are multiple similar survivals that escaped from Seoul. However don't create a situation where both teams have a disparity in their decision making, it just make the whole story sloppy.

When you have terrible cast such as Defconn and Siyoung in the team, who basically doesn't do much than to create senseless decisions. It is conflicting if the whole team have had grudges with Hong Chul already in the first season, then the whole team goes the whole turn of getting remorseful over their death? Didn't one of the NPC also have emphasised on your decision whether to kill them if you had the chance, this should have been a good judgemental point on where the team wants to lead. Other minor roles, such as Sae Ho, Eun Bi, Seon Tae, can be kept as guest NPC in single episodic role, but not as a full character. Good partners that can be kept, are DinDin and Tsuki, DEX and Code Kunst, Patricia and Jonathan. These are the ones that keeps the show entertaining.

And what is with that last episode of revival, I rather it be that characters come and go as their adventure continues. If you had the antidote, would you rather save or duplicate for mass manufacturing to cure the country? And now that they have Hong Chul's blood in them, do the revived have an immune towards zombies? You had to go through that swaying bridge battle, when you could have just disconnected the bridge? This is the same as boarding the train scene.

The story starts strong with a classic underdog narrative where the main character works hard to rise in a highly competitive environment, which keeps things exciting in the beginning. Dashing Youth incorporates a nice balance between humor and serious moments. However, as with many historical dramas, there are moments when the plot can feel a bit slow or repetitive, especially when the conflict revolves around political or family-related issues. For some viewers, these sections might be a bit too predictable, especially if they are familiar with the genre.

The chemistry between the leads is another highlight, with their relationship slowly developing into a romantic subplot. The female lead’s character is intelligent, confident, and a good foil to the male lead’s more naive but determined nature. Their dynamic evolves from a competitive relationship into mutual respect, which is satisfying for viewers looking for a bit of growth before romance.

So, we're going to talk about the drama Legally Romance. Honestly, it was amazing! I didn’t expect them to create a drama like this. In the first episode, Lu Xun (played by Z-Tao) and Qian Wei (played by Song Zuer) are shown as having a boss-employee relationship, where he appears to really hate her. But the story takes a twist when they introduce the time-travel trope. I believed that she might time travel back to her college days, where she is now in 2013 and already knows her future. So, she starts to fight back and seek revenge on Lu Xun. She mistakenly believes that he is in love with the second lead actress (I don't remember her name), so she tries to help him win her over.

However, what she doesn’t realize is that Lu Xun actually loves her, not the second lead. Eventually, around episode 16, they begin to get closer, and by episode 26, Qian Wei wakes up in a hospital and realizes that everything she experienced was not time traveling—it was all just a coma dream. The time travel was just a part of her dream while she was in a coma. Lu Xun visits her, but she is talking to her ex about breaking up with him. Lu Xun misunderstands and leaves before speaking to her, thinking that she still loves her ex and will patch things up with him.

What Qian Wei experienced in her coma dream made her realize that, even though it was just a dream, she had fallen for Lu Xun. She starts to piece together the truth when a doctor tells her that it's common for patients to recover better if their friends and family share their past with them. The doctor hints that some parts of her dream might have been real. She then sees an entry book from her coma period and notices that Lu Xun's name is on the list. This confirms to her that her feelings and experiences were not just a dream—Lu Xun truly loves her.

After waking up, Lu Xun still acts like a tough boss because he believes that Qian Wei still loves her ex. He thinks he has no chance with her, even though he has loved her for years. The episodes from when she wakes up to episode 30 were a bit boring to watch. However, things improve later on, and they eventually end up together.

In the final episodes, Qian Wei begins seeing glimpses of the future during her check-ups. She sees that Lu Xun is on a date with the second lead actress, but it turns out that she wasn’t romantically interested in him. Instead, she was hiring him for a business-related case, as Lu Xun is a lawyer. Qian Wei decides to confess her love to him and tells him, “I love you.” Lu Xun then reveals that he wanted to hear her confession and that he’s been in love with her since he was 18—he has loved her for 10 years and still does. Everything goes well after that.

In the last episode, just before their wedding, Qian Wei runs away because she wants to see her future with him. Everyone thinks the bride has run away, and Lu Xun also runs after her. In the end, they both end up in the same car, and the drama concludes like that.

Masterpiece Drama in 2024

I really loved the story! It might not be super realistic, but the way each character has their own flaws makes it feel so relatable and human. Even though I’ve watched it once, every time I rewatch it, I always catch new details that make me want to keep coming back.

That said, I feel like Soyeon’s character is a bit of a weak spot. I just couldn’t find a good enough reason to excuse her behavior as an ex-wife or as a person. But then again, if they’d gone too deep into Soyeon’s perspective, it might’ve overshadowed the main storyline, which would’ve distracted viewers from the leads. So yeah, the gap in Soyeon’s backstory is kinda a double-edged sword.

All in all, I think this drama is super artistic with amazing acting. Sure, there are a lot of details that get left behind, but considering it’s only eight episodes, it makes sense.

Parallel Love had potential but became less interesting as it went on

I dropped this drama after the 20th episode because it was getting boring, and the chemistry between the female lead (FL) and male lead (ML) was becoming too clichéd. It was nice at first, but I mainly watched it for Li Hongyi, who was the only character I truly adored. The FL was also beautiful, but I didn't like her character much. As for the second girl (whose name I can't remember), the one Li Hongyi was supposed to marry, I think she deserved him more. But in the end, he fell for the FL. Overall, the drama was enjoyable up until about episode 18, but after that, it started to drag, and I ended up fast-forwarding through episodes 20 to 23 just to get to the plot and ending. The ending wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. So, "Parallel Love" was just average for me.

A Profound Exploration of Emotions and Exceptional Performances

This drama masterfully delves into the depths of human emotion, portraying the delicate and fragile nature of the characters' feelings. Eun Ho's journey to balance the search for her sister, the complexities of her past relationship, and her new romantic entanglement with Ju Yeon is handled with a sensitivity that resonates deeply with viewers.

Kang Hoon's portrayal of Kang Ju Yeon is particularly noteworthy. His exceptional acting brings a nuanced vulnerability to the character, making Ju Yeon's emotions and struggles feel authentic and deeply moving. His chemistry with Shin Hye Sun adds layers of complexity to their relationship, keeping the audience emotionally invested.

Overall, this drama is a beautifully crafted exploration of love, loss, and identity, driven by powerful performances and a well-written narrative. It's a must-watch for anyone who appreciates character-driven stories with profound emotional depth.

Just watch it!

The uncut version really was uncut omg I loved this show no I love this show so much it has such a special place in my heart omg!!!! We saw raw, evert day, realistic love from Jack & Joke. I love that is was really and it showed normal people trying to make a better world for themselves that’s why it’s a 1000/1000 for me.

War and Yin such as great job playing these characters cause they are both incredible actors themselves wow and they are so talented and just humble people. The fact that they produced this show especially for their fans is beyond amazing they really love their fans.

Joke when he come out of jail his goal was to find Jack and apologize to him but when he found Jack he was not the kid he knew anymore. They had both grown over the years and we can see Joke trying to make amends with Jack but Jack is like nope it’s not going to be that easy for you and so he makes him work for him but you can see that Jack already forgave Joke along time ago. I loved how the relationship progressed and grew to something so beautiful. Now when this uncut scenes began wow we just the raw love real raw that was such a great moment. They really went all out for this show it was such a great way to end the year with a great show.

The love between Jack and Joke was so cute the build from hating each other to absolutely doing anything to protect each other is the best. It was just a good show wow. The side characters were also good we loved them Tattoo, Hoy, Arran, Rose, Save, Hope, Toi Ting and Grandma(the real Cupid of Jack and Joke). They did such a great job and each of them we lived them so much!!

Overall this is the best show of 2024, the fact they Yin and War produced this as a present to us their fans says a lot about them cause they wanted to thank us and it was evident in their acting and everything they gave us in the show it really was outstanding. Now I was hoping that we get a season 2 but it was announced that Jack and Joke coming back in February 2025!! Yay! So 1000/1000 for me for this show it’s a masterpiece everything the actors, the music, the characters, the OST, the story line, the production team. This is the kind of show you enjoy from first episode to last cause they gave us what we want and also unexpected this as well which made it even more spectacular.

Go watch Jack & Joke : U Steal My Heart! You won’t regret it!!
