Sweet and light

What I liked: sweet and romantic love, acting by entire cast was good, the songs played brought out the emotions suitable for the scenes

What I disliked: maybe it was just me, but I thought the main leads and second leads fell in love too quickly and probably because of this, I felt bored and kind of in disbelief in the first perhaps 10 episodes, but subsequently I began to feel their love for each other probably because after watching more than 10 episodes, so I wasn't that bored anymore and more vested in their love for each other.

I believe because it was by the same director as 'Love by Hypnotic', so there was some resemblance in the filming style pertaining to the main leads' love interactions, such as peach blossom trees, swings, them lying side by side on the wooden platform, lots of sweet kisses, etc.

All in all, I would recommend if you want something sweet and light, though other reviewers have also pointed out that the last few episodes were a little tensed, but I would still consider it 'light' compared to other historical dramas.

Heavily scripted drama that will give you a whiplash

I can see why there was so much hype around this k-drama when it was first released. It was quite different to your typical parcel of k-dramas being released and the main leads definitely got the netizens talking. However, watching the show a few months after it finished its run, the rose tinted glasses cannot hide all its rough edges.

On the positive side, the ML is handsome and overflowing with charisma. Whether you believe he is a Mafia consigliere is your decision. The FL was flamboyant and matched well with the ML so the OTP's chemistry was signed and sealed. There were quite a few stylistic moments and quotable quotes just right for memes. Action sequences were generally well executed and impactful. Production value was high. OST more than serviceable with classical music taking a prominent role.

When observing the show from a distance, like war and art, you start to notice a coda that ends with the death of a key character (and those were obviously marked for death). The odd thing is that in most cases, the in-between space was filled with comedy, sometimes slapstick and quite farcical. This swing in mood did give me a bit of whiplash. I don't know if part of the problem stems from the drama being 20 episodes long and each almost 1.5 hours in duration. If it was trimmed down to 16 episodes, it might be tighter.

Most of these comedic sequences were supplied by the occupants of the Plaza. They were a motley crew with hearts of gold. In that sense, I was disappointed that they were largely used as comic relief and had little growth. They reminded me of characters in the movies "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" and "Kung Fu Hustle". A bit derivative, to be honest.

Oh mama mia, the overacting. There were so much overacting. The main villains were racing to see who is more evil and the said support cast amped up their traits to the max, most of them became caricatures. Subtlety was the main casualty and there were more than just gallons of blood on the floor. Ditto the violence. It is over the top and the impact waned over time.

Now we come to the biggest problem for me. There are quite a few plot holes and some illogical story telling. The show started well and we have the lone wolf arriving to help the beleaguered "village". I can accept that Vincenzo is an anti-hero and very grey when it come to the definition of good and evil, it does add spice to the proceedings. However, the longer the show went on, the more problematic the story telling became. There were lots of shouted intentions but mostly just milling around until we hit one of the key event I mentioned before. Scenes like the ML fighting 3 mafia hitmen and was saved by Inzaghi, reward for good deeds? The scene when the ML confronted the Interpol officers, one sequence was shown at the end of one episode and when the next episode starts, a completely different scenario was played which contradicted the earlier scene. The role of the Guillotine file which was supposed to be the ultimate deus ex machina but it sort of works but eventually watered down. The gold plot went rogue, why a bed and does it really ends there? Sometimes the plot twist were clever but a lot of the time you can sense the writer-nim's hand on the steering wheel to make sure the show stay on a given course. Several times during the show, it could have ended "logically" but it just kept going.

Vincenzo is handsome and oozes charisma, the show is enjoyable in parts and it will pull your heartstrings from time to time, the found family trope can be cute and heart warming. There is no question about the chemistry between the OTP (I do wish they devoted more time to them). A grand opera of revenge can be sweet music. However, the inconsistencies will pull you out of immersion. Personally, I find Itaewon Class a superior David vs Goliath drama but nobody ever goes to watch a James Bond movie for empathy and sensitivity.

Best romantic drama between a teacher and student really respectful and classy loved it

I will tell you what I loved about this drama
It's peacefulness ,,, even if it had war scenes ,,, it wasn't focused on war or fighting ,,, it's focused on the beautiful yet subtle love story and the bond between the characters was the best
this drama isn't loud ,, it doesn't have annoying characters even the evil ones have their reasons ,, sometimes at first I felt sympathy for the evil guy who destroyed everything later on
I loved the bond between the characters,, their family bond without even being an actual family ,, the classiness between a teacher and his student who he loved later on ,, there were no over the top romance scenes not even one kiss or over the top noisy female lead who keep annoying the male lead to love her ,, the male lead wasn't cold and arogenate , he was soft and gentle yet wise and smart strong man with a very amazing charisma and you just fall in love with him
their relationship seemed so smooth so subtle so beautiful ,, it was really emotional for me
I felt all sorts of emotions ,, I'm not a romance drama fan and I think this one was one of the best I've ever seen
Never one boring moment or draggy dialogues or even draggy scenes ,,, every episode has it's own fast pace
I felt so sad at the final three episodes that I stopped watching to take a breather not to fall into deep depression state
I went to watch a funny variety show of the male lead just to watch him happy laughing and playing and really it broke my anxiety from the last three episodes ,, they were heavily sad
I know of course it's a drama but it was very well made that you feel what they feel exactly like them
I recommend it so much to anyone who likes to watch Mature Romance with subtle love story ,, it's like a beautiful poem
I wished the ending was better but don't let it discourage you ,, they made a second season in modern era for them to complete their story in much more happier louder way

Disappointed

As a huge fan of UWMA and Love Mechanics, I almost fell in love with all of Studio Wabi Sabi's works but this one disappointed me a lot. 7 Project has been teased for almost a year before being released and it is also one of the reasons why Between Us got postponed. It was hyped a lot by Wabi Sabi and the teaser showed a lot of angst so I expected more from this. But it ended up being very boring to be honest
Episode 1: This episode is kinda annoying but Santa and Earth's chemistry along with Santa's good acting saved it. In this, Ozone keeps questioning his dad for putting him into boarding school but then the reason is so obvious that Ozone didn't behave himself and always used to skip classes and fail exams. All of this only makes him look spoiled. As for the bullying, it almost made..no sense? Like it seemed like they were trying to tease Ozone but went harsh on it. Shipping in schools for no reason is pretty normal and many of them do it for fun as a teasing, but never escalate it to a level higher than that. It seemed very awkward to me, in fact. Then comes the fact that Sun and Ozone didn't even try to fight the bullies but just ignored them. Although Sun's "are you loveless children?" line had a very big impact on me. The ending was open and it was kinda boring. But I rewatched it purely for Santa. Also give Earth a role he deserves.
Episode 2: Idk about mental disorders much but the fact that Rhythm had ASPD has such a little impact on the series, it's almost not even worth mentioning. They could have just made him a shy, reserved character and not one with ASPD cuz that definitely wasn't portrayed well. Their story was very nice, in fact, beautiful and light-hearted, but it was put to waste with the acting. I liked only the side characters.
Episode 3: Great potential. Great ruining. The only character I liked is Proud's mom. That's it. That's all I'm gonna say. SammyPineare could have been given so much better of a story than this piece of shit. I don't even know who came up with this story cuz it's a very big piece of shit. But Sammy and Pineare had good acting as well. Although I'd like Pineare in a more Del like character who was kind but also savage when she wanted to be.
Episode 4: Boun's acting has become worse. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of BounPrem and I think his acting in UWMA was so excellent, but his acting really fell flat in this one. Prem's acting in the other hand got better. I think it's just that Boun doesn't suit characters which have too much of an emotional depth to them or characters which are supposed to be silent and reserved. I prefer him as Hia Win. The storyline was pretty normal, pretty bland, idk it was meh-meh. A lot of people got angry with Jinny and Mek kissing but I think it was not weird cuz it was added to show that Mek was so drunk and he was trying his best to get over Balloon by kissing Jinny but he couldn't. The ending was okay.
Episode 5: Very bad acting. Very rushed storyline. Pretty much boring. Either have Plan as Can/Wish, if not, don't give him a role at all. Nink's acting was okay-okay. But since, she's a newbie I think I can see potential in her. Plan sucked af.
Episode 6: This episode single-handedly saved the whole thing. I've never seen MIR so idk Boom much and the only series of Peak I've seen is You Never Eat Alone. But the storyline of this episode along with the acting is such a good combination. I want you to go watch it yourselves so I'm only going to say that this storyline should be developed into one whole series cuz 1 episode is too less for a masterpiece. The fact that they covered a whole storyline in one episode, without making it seem rushed and coupled with good acting by all casts is just *chefs kiss*
Episode 7: I guess it was pretty much okay-okay. It was your normal rom-com. Although I have no idea how they know the whole bio-data of each other by being in like 2 different grades and stuff. It's light-hearted so you can watch it once, I guess. Typical 2 reserved people romcom ft. the mediator friend, the playboy friend for spice, and typical thai boy-obsessed girls.

BGM: One thing that triggered me a lot is that, they used many BGMs from UWMA which I felt was really not right. They had a whole year to do this series and even if there was COVID-19, but for all the hype they created, the least they could have done was create new BGM than use old ones cuz that seems really irresponsible on their part.

Overall, it is not worth for all the hype they created nor worth for all the series they postponed to release this. I conclude that this series was made to test the actors so I'm just gonna say the ones I liked most.
1. Boom & Peak - They are phenomenal.
2. Prem - Really big improvement in acting.
3. Sammy - When you give someone a main character, you realise their true potential.
4. Art- He was the dude in VS Love who cheated on his test. Pretty good acting, for very short screentime
5. Santa - New actor but great acting and great potential.
6. Aomsin- Wawa in Rhythm's heart. Her good acting saved the episode.

I think Studio Wabi Sabi is really good at the series they make and New is one of the best directors. But I feel they messed this up real big. They have potential and I hope they will learn from their mistakes. Also, please don't cast Plan and Perth for hype. If you want a good series, cast people like Title who have way more potential and have been given bad characters in the past. And a request for SWB to stop making straight stories cuz they really suck at it. I think they'd do better in something like a fantasy or a more school-issues related one like VS Love. Also, GIVE US VS LOVE FULL SERIES.

Nothing very suprising but that one twist

Honestly ,I have a lot of questions about this series. The entire foundation is on the concept of "debt" but once everyone dies and the winner walks out of the game, what about the debt of the dead people? Has no one ever made ANY kind of correlation between SO many people missing ,like 500 of them each game since this game is conducted more than once a year and has been happening for a decade or so. We can deduce this from when the police officer enters the file room and the files are numbered based on the year and there are multiple files for the same year.

If you have seen hunger games, maze runner, divergent,Alice in borderland and the likes, you won't find this very shocking. You know who will win, you will also predict certain twists except for the ONE! So I personally found it dramatic since I have grown numb to the emotional scenes in such series and so had to skip through certain parts. There were parts that I felt were dragged beyond limit .

Coming back to the missing people aspect, how did so many people vanish and the Central intelligence in the country never had an investigation on this? Or not even a conspiracy theory existing on this? Now the reason I focused on the conspiracy theory is that the first time about 100 players left the game, the mc goes to the police narrates his experience and they find it ridiculous. Since he got out anyway, he should've made an attempt to find out about any similar occasions but no, maybe because it isn't the scope of the movie? But he got out AND there is a police trying to find this brother so atleast he(police) should've noticed some pattern around the time his brother vanished and similar other missing cases across country? Why wasn't that pov explored?

My thoughts on Squid Game

This drama started out really strong. I was definitely gripped by the first episode but then it kind of got boring.

•My favourite game was obviously Red Light, Green Light, although that giant doll was the most creepiest thing for me to witness. I also enjoyed watching the one where they had to step on the correct piece of glass.
•The honeycomb challenge was disgusting - all that sweat and licking was ew!
•The marble game was boring and the tug of war game made me too tense. I didn't like to see them dangling on the rope waiting to fall to their death. It was better in the glass game because it was more instant rather than dragging it out.

I was a bit upset when Sae-byeok died, but we know she had to go as the main guy was obviously going to win. That's the thing I don't like about these shows, is when you know that the main lead has to get through the challenges, needless to say I was never worried about him.

The old man was weird and the ending confused me.

It would be good to know why the 'triangles', 'squares', and 'circles' were all in on it. Which reminds me - I loved the scene where Mi-nyeo really needed the bathroom (aka her cigarette) and she said to the triangle that she wanted to see their superior i.e. the square, and then out popped its head. The only funny part of the show in my opinion.

I can only give the acting a 9.0 because the Americans were so terrible. Their acting really brought down the overall production quality of the show.

The music was creepy which was fitting so I thought that was good.

In the end it just fizzled out into nothing really. A guy won a ton of money because he got through challenges whilst everyone else died. What happened with his daughter? Like we need answers but weren't given any.

If there was a second season I really doubt I'd bother to watch it.

-E

Another one of the season's worst

In this silly escape from reality as it relates to love, marriage, relationships, work, family, etc., the adults on hand all encourage the high-school kid to pursue the woman 10 years older; no one cares to remind him of the need to get serious about his education and goal in life first before plunging himself into such an affair. We are all supposed to appreciate the kid's playing ridiculous games to get compensation for the ruined painting that doesn't belong to him in the first place. After a recent failed marriage, the woman seems happy to get into a new relationship so soon and limit her choice to either one of the two brothers. A supposedly prosperous household has only one helper, who is chauffeur, house-keeping maid, cook, games companion, etc., rolled into one. A former schoolmate stirs up trouble for everyone ten years later because of her twisted mind and with a face that plastic surgery did not really make attractive. The title makes poor to no sense by forcing a connection with the Cinderella story.

Sweet Revenge from Lovely Physician

It was very outstanding & touching drama for me. JJL is intelligent and caring physician that carefully plan her revenge against the evil emperor to avenge the death of her father. I like how she resolved her family issue without too much violence and help civilians fought for justice. Surprisingly, she seems to forgive LYQ after all the wrongdoings he done. However, all her pursuers did assist her until the end which you don't see that a lot in cdrama. Still I cried for NYZ for supporting her yet he doesn't get her love. The ML isn't that handsome with that pull back, tight braided hairstyle but his acting makes up for it. Chemistry is good. Nice scenery and decent supporting characters! Will recommend this cdrama to anyone that like romance and strong FL. Yes, it is underrated. <3 <3

Worth a watch

Great series. Entertaining throughout as the location, scenery and plot changed often so the show did not become stagnant. I thought all of the actors did a great job, except for the lead - couldn't get into his wooden acting and look. We won't talk about those bangs, lol. The ending has both positive elements and tragic elements. I'm not sure why C-dramas have to write in so much tragedy into their story line endings as it takes away from the investment you put into a long series. Worth watching overall though.

How to get a man? Tip from Wu Yan: "You have to be shameless and nuisance." ??

Ok, so I've watched this drama without having expectations and high hopes because let's admit it that mostly modern cdramas have same plots and scenes but this drama it’s totally different— male lead has disability. He was blind. But he did not take it as a problem since he manage his life very well and become a popular songwriter.

Honestly, this drama is absolutely beautifully written and executed! ?❤️ The first thing that I felt in love with was the music, I just love all the songs. It was amazing! Evan Lin is sooo good!! How can he be so perfect?

and OMG the main couple, Sang Wu Yan (Wan Peng) and Su Nian Qin (Lin Yanjun) chemistry just brightens up everything, the quiet companionship they have at home, taking each other, the calm romance when they're just sitting on the couch reading and cuddling, the warm hugs and every time Nian Qin back from his work, he will rang the doorbell and wait for Wu Yan to open the door then he would say ‘I’m back’ while giving a kiss at her forehead. This is SOOO romantic than any cheesy love cliché in most dramas ??

I am fan of Wan Peng and I do wish she can kiss better because Evan Lin seems like he would be a good kisser. I can see all that love in Evan's eyes & I had watched all of Wan Peng's drama before this but this "Crush" drama hits sooo different! ✨

I seriously can't believe that this drama is actually Su Nian Qin (Lin Yanjun) first acting debut work. He is soo good and rocks as Su Nian Qin so perfectly. His gestures and movements as blind person are all perfect!

PS. The only thing that really bothers me most is Wu Yan's bff Cheng Yi huhu I felt like ending was too rushed while a lot of characters were not given a chance to explain themselves :<

But overall this drama is definitely worth watching and for the first time in a chinese drama, this has been the most refreshing story that I've ever encountered!!! ?

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ?

S O L J I W A N

This was the most disappointing drama of 2021 in my opinion. The first couple of episodes were great and had a lot of potential for the upcoming episodes after but oh my did it flop after. The main disappointment of the entire drama was the main couple and Bitna's relationship with Gyu Hyun. The only reason I gave it the rating I did was for ❤️Soljiwan❤️. They were EVERYTHING to me!! Their storyline was so well-written and ugh it was just so good. The CONFESSION SCENE OMG. Nah because I replayed that scene a ridiculous amount of times. Before I submit the review, I should acknowledge potato boy who was unfortunately hit with the terrible disease of 'second male lead syndrome. rip potato boy :(

Watched million times and never got tired of it

Perfection! I just love the chemistry of the main leads. I may skip the other characters but can't get enough of the male leads. It does not disappoint. I highly recommend this drama. I love the settings, impeccable sceneries and the actors and actresses. It was well done in my books but I have to admit to some flaws I chose to overlook. I replay the scenes I love over and over and the main leads do not bore or tire me. I am surprised this did not break records yet. I hope the main leads will have modern drama together.

a wattpad story come to life

Literally, the only thing I liked about this drama was the main couple other than that I didn't like or care about anything related to the plot at all. It came to the point (I would say around ep 17 ish) where I just had to skip all the scenes that didn't have the main couple. Another thing I couldn't stop thinking about was Lu Jin's "casual" outfit. I don't know if anyone else noticed but he wears the SAME casual outfit multiple times like he ain't got the money to buy new clothes. I was just so confused and I HATE his jeans, like who let him wear that??? with all that money you would think he would hire a stylist but nope instead I was forced to stare at studded jeans. Also, I didn't realise it was an age-gap drama until I started watching it and it kept on bugging me the entire time mostly because Shengnan seemed to act almost like a child at certain points and Lu Jin would try to seem much younger. I can't like when the second love interest came in, I started rooting for him even though I knew it was never going to happen. The drama just felt like a Wattpad book come to life, not necessarily a bad thing but the drama felt weird at certain parts (the show suddenly introducing that Lu Jin has a brother??? and focusing so much on companies?? around the last couple of episodes? Then also trying to start a weird love triangle with the Lu brothers and Shengnan??). I really liked the first 2/4th of the show, but it felt like the plot fell apart and changed halfway through. Like there was no real cohesive plotline from beginning to end which is the main reason I said it felt like I was watching a Wattpad story written by some high school kid in their spare time. Another thing that annoyed me was how Shengnan became the main chef after barely working there and even after that, she stopped going to work?? I was so confused. All that trouble with the chefs and her workplace drama was so pointless because she stopped going to work anyways and ended up opening her own restaurant. Overall, it wasn't bad but I won't find myself recommending it to anyone.

Typical historical idol drama

The story and editing is all over the place. Too much brain dead trope/ plot.

Acting:
- Wang youshuo(wubaiqi) is the one that did a good job.
- Ju jingyi: Feel the same as before. kidnapping scene r not her fault tho. With how long she's been in industry and many dramas she's in, people expect a lot, but her improvement not so prominent.
-Zzh: So so. And just bcs he did good job at acting competition, doesn't mean he's good actor or always deliver his role. The way his fans putting down jjy acting is funny to me
-Kiki: her temprament is good, has potential to improve. Sometimes her eyes is like unsure with her acting. Overall still ok for newbie. Need to see other works to know for sure

Music: All the ost are good

If the cast is not your favorite, it's better to not watch
