Neither one or the other.

Thailand media is definitely leaning towards quantity rather than quality so, as expected, many of their dramas are falling into a copy-paste situation. This one is a clear example of that. Is it good, or is it bad? It depends on the person watching.

~ Story:
Here is the thing: it is not a bad story... if you're someone who's new in the genre and hasn't seen a lot of dramas from it. In my case, however, I found it quite repetitious due to the fact that I've already watched so many dramas with the same tropes to the point I am left unimpressed by what's happening in the story. Like I said: copy-paste situation. Nothing new, nothing unique, nothing special. Just your basic go-to story. But don't get me wrong, please, because I did find it to be one of those series you can sit back and relax with a cup of tea (or glass of wine, in my case) since it's a very simple plot that doesn't require you to pay attention to small details or anything of the sort. It was a nice little drama to spend a lazy weekend at home watching.

~ Cast:
Surprisingly, I don't have a lot of complaints about these actors. Although it was predictable acting, most of them did a decent job. Sometimes I wonder, though: Do they train all these actors in the same school? Because it's crazy how ALL of them (not just in this drama) act in the exact same way. That's what I mean with predictable. It's not bad, but it feels like they are following a book instead of coming up with their own individual acting. Very few actors step out of that box and, unfortunately, none of the actors here did that. Let's talk about some of them.

~ Pi: Decent. To be honest with you, from what I have seen, a lot of Thai actors are not really that good at acting comedy, so Phu was a little rough around the edges during those scenes. However, everything else was quite good. I am Latin American and the "Ugly Betty" story is very dear to my heart, so I now have a fondness towards this actor for acting a role inspired by this iconic and beloved Colombian character. Good chemistry with his partner, too.

~ Mork: A little better. Was I found successful about Pond is that his character was so serious that his comedy scenes were delivered better since it's something unexpected to come from a character that keeps his composure.

~ Duean: I am going to be biased here: I do not like this actor. Not because he is bad at acting, no, he's okay if okay to you means very predictable. But my problem lies in his voice. I absolutely HATE IT. He's one of those people I wish could shut up because his constant yelling is drilling into my ears giving me a headache. I had to endure it for the sake of his partner, but I wanted to skip every single scene he was speaking in.

~ Meen: Probably the most cliched character and ultimately one of my favorites. To be honest, he and Duean were both annoying, but Meen was on the cuter side making him more likeable than his partner.

~ Editing and Pacing:
Excellent. Everything was coherent and well put together. There's nothing really tricky about the plot and that helped the editing feel a lot more smoother and easy to follow.

On a side note: this is the first drama I've seen that doesn't have a beach or planting trees episode! Thank goodness cuz that was getting so tired.

Sis, this show has everything: Makeovers, hidden agendas, cyber bullying, moaning, a bitch you wanna slap, and balloons. I recommend it, specially if you're new in the genre and are looking for something simple and easy to follow.

Not worth it because of one character...

To be fair, I've watched Hello Monster a long time ago and I don't have any memories of the series at all. I remember some scenes (especially the fantastic acting of Do Kyungsoo) but I don't quite remember the rest of the series so I couldn't really compare with this one (except the beginning of the plot). And maybe because it was a long time ago but I remember liking the Korean series.

This Thai version... not so much.

The actors are good. The plot is well written. But there is one big problem for me... the female lead.
She was insufferable from the start and, from episode 4 or 5, I couldn't see her on the screen anymore and I had to skip all of her scenes (especially the ones with the male lead). I re-read my comment on the Hello Monster series and I was already saying at that time that I didn't quite like the romance. But I don't remember hating it that much! That Thai version seemed to have worsened the female character. I mean... she is a cop but she's scared on a crime scene... She also is and admits to be a criminal herself because she's a stalker but the male lead doesn't seem to be put off by this news... She says to Pathomkarn that she hated Tanwa at first which is a total lie. She never hated him and, even though, she doubted his innocence in the first few episodes, she never disliked him, on the contrary. She also prefers that her attacker run free just for her to stay in Tanwa's home. Well... I can go on and on with her...

Also, she is the reason I hate the ending. Because, of course, we can't have an ending with the two brothers being happy together...

So, I may be unfair to the series because of one character but, sometimes, one character can spoil an entire series...

First, I have to admit that I did skip some of the Mighty Warriors bits because I'm not as interested in them as I am in S.W.O.R.D. What can I say *shrugs*

But now to the good things. S2 was such a fantastic set-up for the following movie, it went so deep on all fronts, telling us more about Mugen, about the characters' background, about the hows & whys. And it showed us so much character development, Murayama and Hyuga and even Cobra himself.

Speaking of Cobra, his journey fascinated me because we get to see him as a kid, then as an eager puppy in Mugen, all smiles and energy - and then the way he became, closed off, standing apart, always on the outside looking in, carrying the responsibility for Sannoh, and his desire for it all to be finally over, for the fighting and hurting to stop - and then, in the end, his realization that the only way to achieve that is to fight back, his renewed determination. What a journey within only 10 episodes!

I loved it. Somehow, in some way, they managed to make this drama so rich and deep, with characters coming and going, with the big bad looming and S.W.O.R.D. a world of its own within that universe...

Can't wait to see the movie now!

Where to start..

This may change in the future for sure, but as of today as I'm writing this, this is probably going to be one of my longest reviews I've done yet. I have sooo much to say about this drama, good and bad. Instead of individually reviewing both season 1 & 2, I'm just going to include it all in this one review. Starting off, I think Love Sick is definitely the longest drama I've invested myself in so far and even if at points I wanted to drop it, I'm very glad I powered through. It doesn't feel like wasted time.
So, season 1 was amazing. I think I may have enjoyed it a little more than season 2. But I appreciate them for different reasons. I like how season 1 focus's more on the main couple, Noh and Phun, and not so much on other characters. But I like season 2 for that very opposite reason. I did enjoy watching relationships apart from the main couple develop as well. I will say though I was a little confused why season 1 had a actual physical kiss scene and yet season 2 either cut all the kiss scenes out, or they were staged kisses. It doesn't bug me too much or take away much from the story but I would've liked to see actual kisses between some of the characters.
I think one of the main complaints I had was that I didn't enjoy most of the female characters in this series. I think the only one's I liked or could even stand watching was Yuri, Nongnan(mainly cause I love Samantha), Lhew, and sometimes Mo(when she wasn't arguing with her stupid boyfriend). I had a really hard time watching the parts with Jeed and Grace specifically because honestly, they don't have much character depth anymore, they're just bullies the whole time.
Most of the male characters were great to watch, I think one of my absolute favorites was Phun. I think White is a really good actor and I actually watched him in Theory of Love before watching this so it was interesting to see how his acting was before he hit 20. I really loved watching the relationship between all the boys in this series. All such good friends who have each others backs and try to give advice when they can. For being such young teenagers, I was sometimes surprised by how good the advice actually was. and even if they had no advice, it was still sweet to watch them comfort each other in silence.
I will say I know that this drama was released back in 2014-2015, so it's definitely older than most the BL's out there today. That's why when some of the drama started to seemed extremely childish and unnecessary, I gave it the benefit of the doubt because I know that not only are all the actors actually pretty young but they're supposed to be high schoolers so it makes sense for them to act like angsty teens.
I found myself questioning if a lot of the series was necessary to make and why it had to be as long as it was. I think there were some characters that were not needed and some relationships I didn't care to watch but I think overall I really did like this show. It surprised me to be honest. I had tried to start it a while back and just gave up because I couldn't find it in good quality and I felt a bit weird watching actors so young but I'm glad I gave it a second chance. Although I liked it a lot, I still want to say that had I watched it the year it came out, I probably wouldn't of complained as much as I did. It's actually quite perfect for what it is and when it was released. I know it's one of the first popular boys' love series to come out in Thailand and for that alone, it deserves praise.
I'm not sure if I'll ever rewatch it but you never know. I might wanna come back to these boys one day.
It's been a long journey for this one and I'm grateful for the ride.

Wow, bring on the heat!

What I loved:
1) After watching show after show of open-eyed, deer-in-the-headlights, arms-hanging-limply-at their sides kisses, this was a welcome change! The kisses were wonderful, realistic and full of steaminess. The only reason I rated this as high as I did was because of the chemistry factor.
Not so much:
1) Story - there wasn't one. They went from strangers to living together with no getting to know one another. If the storyline was just about sex, that would be okay, but we were supposed to believe that they were in love with each other why? The secondary characters were there to put some tension in the storyline I think, but that didn't work either.
2) Characters - male lead: he was the typical male character, nothing special about him. Female lead: I felt that she was not very bright. Her behavior was strange and she was overly friendly to everyone. She had no family or friends? I was, however, glad they portrayer her liking physical intimacy as well, and it didn't all just fall on the man. The co-workers: the men were creepy and the females were silly.
3) Ending - as Asian dramas almost always do, the ending was very rushed.
So, if you just need to see some good physical expressions of affection, this show is short enough that you don't have to make a very large time investment.

Watched only for YIBO

●This commercial Film elevates the desire of the audience to see more of these two fine actors. Am one of them now and would love to see this as a full-length feature film. Its bar ambiance and subtle undertone created the perfect atmosphere.
●YiBo as Bartender, not just served drinks he showed his capability in few minutes that he can act along with a senior actress like an ace. He got visuals, with his curly hair and black waistcoat with white shirt absolutely marvelous.
●Zhou Xun as a singer, I had never seen her works before but she is a senior actress which shows in her part as a singer. She sang like a nightingale.
●The featured song is really soulful, synced with amazing lyrics.
●VogueFilmStudio did a good job by picking such amazing actors.
●I was thinking that what Vogue is trying to sell with this CF, but in 9 mins I don't find anything to buy, but enjoyed a beautiful friendship of the leads.

Come on Shista!

The first 3 episodes are genius and draw you in like an addict to it's charms. It's campy, hilarious & fun. It's Ji Sung's tour de force and shows off his acting abilities to their fullest. Each personality is lovable and it's incredible that the viewer can tell them apart by just his gestures, no need for props. Hwang Jung-eum is a good choice as his leading lady, as she is not a weak female and she gives as good as she gets. They play off well against one another. We have an early Park Seo-joon here where you can see his male lead aura shining through, but at times they are using him as a tap..be hilarious here (in his interactions with Ahn Yo-Na) and serious there when he's painfully in love with his adopted sister. When it's hilarious at the beginning you can overlook the inconsistencies for pure entertainment value, but when it gets to episode 15 and descends into darkness the questions that you didn't ask before get asked. Another Kdrama that would have been a masterpiece at 16 episodes. The last 5 episodes aren't really necessary. There are some fun moments when the personalities reappear but it looses it's momentum in a sea of flashbacks and happy endings. It's honestly the first time I have ever felt sorry for a ML when his mother & grandmother are bickering over him to take over the reins, honestly...these women need to get a life!
The music is excellent, especially that rap. I have to applaud this drama for it's handling of such a difficult subject matter and turning into something that is a real pleasure to watch. Bravo!

Missing Wei Ying calling Lan Zhan endlessly

I was contemplating on watching this drama, thinking it was just over hyped just because the main leads are sinfully handsome. I already started watching the first episode, but maybe I wasn't in the mood at that time that's why it didn't caught my attention enough, so I dropped it. It's a good thing I started again, and my gosh!!!! It's worth the hyped! I love the story! The cast, the fight scenes, the cinematography, and the OST. I just love love love the Wei Ying and Lan Zhan, how I enjoy and love Yibo and Xiao Zhan's chemistry and interaction. How I get frustrated with all the villains who bullies my babies.

I don't mind watching mellow romance but this one no much

Story wise, theres no much of a story. I call this mindless watching. The show described the characters as a forensic student and the other a writer who loves mystery and detective stories. If you're looking for excitement, this show has none.

One moment the ML gets easily annoyed w/ the FL. Then suddenly he was in love. Then ML decided to leave FL broken hearted. Then he decided to pursue her again.

I get that this is a fiction, but to me it feels like a fantasy. Very unrealistic reactions from all the characters. Even the subplots were a bit boring.

Almost gave up watching the show but still decided to finish it. Yes, skipped a lot though. For me, definitely no rewatch value

I just finish this cdrama recently and can't believe I forgot to watch this bcos it was suggested on youtube back 5 months ago :<

But I am soo glad I went into this drama I just wanted to watch Miles Wei as a male lead. I've watched his supporting role in Count Your Lucky Star and he really caught my eye!!! ❤️

Ok so this drama is soo good to be true! Mr. Zhang really is sucha good kisser ? For a contract marriage, I did not expect Si Nian Zhang (Miles Wei) to actually be this sweet to Yun Shu (Xu Ruo Han) ? I mean how can he be so damn perfect? He sets my ideal husband so high!! ?

Unlike other cdramas, FL is clumsy but it's not exaggerated. I just love how they talk about how they feel and what is happening so there are no ridiculous misunderstanding and no silly scenes. I honestly forgot that they were in that student-teacher relationship haha maybe because their each others first loves? Haha GOALSSS!!!! ?‍❤️‍?

I just think that the ending was too hasty. I mean some supporting characters are cut off suddenly at some point. What happened to Meng Ran? The matter between Lin Nuo and Zhi Yi should have been explained more. I think they could have made the ending bit better.

P.S But overall this drama is worth watching!! It's soo good!!! Y'all should try to watch this ?

the whole plot is in the title

If anyone contemplating to watch this then only try it if you're really interested in the ghost story theme cause there are several little ghost tales in this drama. that's basically most of the drama. And 2 osts that i came across idk if there is more or not. At some parts it tried to be funny but only a few succeeded. the chemistry between the two leads is interesting. it's not over the top , it just works right for them.

Jang Na Ra though.. wow i am really impressed with her this time. im so glad she tried something new besides the overly emotional damsel in distress roles. she rocked the scary, intimidating, fashionable but still somehow cute persona. i think she'll managed to look cute even if she plays some evil gangster.

Jung Yong Hwa aka oh in beom , what do i say about him.. this was my 1st drama of him i didn't know him before so it took a little bit of time to familiarise myself with him. the goofy character suited him well and all that pouting just added more numbers. i will definitely look forward to his next work.

The side characters are all really predictable. the funny one , the protective mom one, the bad guy who turns into good etc even the villain was same old old guy with lots of money to buy people .

Till episode 7 or 8 it was interesting enough but after that it got kind of repetitive..? i guess i started to skip every 10s or so just to get to the main point. and let me tell you i'm not the skipping type so there is that. and maybe i have watched enough dramas that's why at some scenes i would just look at them and go "WHY ARE THEY OVERREACTING?"

Lastly it was not that great to my misfortune as i was trying get over a drama slump **big sigh** ,still it was entertaining enough that i was able to finish it. so if you're looking for something casual and not trying to get swept off your feet then GO FOR IT!!

Best Youth Series I ever watched!!!!

Kudos to the director and screenwriter of this series. This is a unique, fresh and out of cliche series out there. It gives the viewers a strong influence in friendship, teamwork, accountability, leadership and loyalty. I'm glad I found this in the recommendation list, this deserves a higher rating than how it does today.

Character review:

1. Yuan Caixi - wow! This female lead was really my favorite! She's strong, cool, very smart and a very good leader as the class monitor. Everyone respects and listen to her. She is not the typical cliche FL that's weak, easily bullied and head over heels for the male lead. Her character has strong sense of accountability and leadership whenever something goes wrong within the class, she always took the blame of not leading well (that's really a WOW!). She is fair and always unite the class. Kudos to the screenwriter for changing the usual-cliche Female leads and come up with this perfect female lead that will definitely influence the youth to be strong, smart and goal oriented. Everyone will easily like her for her character and you know that she deserves all the love and care from the male leads.

2. Ning Zeyu - This Male lead is the top 1 of the class, he is the nerdy and gentleman type and like the FL. He plays fair with his rivals and helped them as well. He is not a toxic rival where he will mess up the life of the male leads. You'll see his genuine care for the female lead. I like his character here.

3. Li He - He is the main male lead. He is a jock and excel well in sports, he really has good physique. I like this character too for always standing up for his friends, his logic was really good and is very inspiring. Of course he really like the female lead who helped him a lot in the story.

This is my first time to write a review, I've watched a LOT of Kdramas and Cdramas but this one really deserve the best review and hope the Youth will hype this series as well to inspire and influence them with all the virtues and values this series has.

I'm hoping the writer of this series will be able to read my review to thank him of writing such a good story that will make you miss your high school days a lot.

ANOTHER LOVELY TREASURE FROM TAIWAN

Love the GAMEBOYS feel to it, especially the last scene when they finally met up close and the camera was moving around them. This is short and sweet. Very special. It will leave you smiling in the end. Cute, light, funny, touching.

You’ll feel really, really good after watching this one. So sastisfying.

Will I watch it again? Why not!

The only thing that is quite confusing are the subtitles (NOTE: Different sites have different subtitles, but those I've seen are equally confusing): He and she, him and her, boyfriend and girlfriend are most of the time interchanged.

Acting is flawless from the entire cast. Effortless and you won't feel they're acting at all.

I like series that are as short as this one that you can finish in one sitting.

Star Crossed Lovers

I started watching this show because of Shin hye sun. I loved her acting in Mr. Queen and wanted to watch her other works. This is my first show that i watched of Lee jong suk so I didn't really have any expectations for him.
STORY:
I know that they both will die at the end before I even started watching but I was genuinely surprised to see that the first scene itself they showed their ending. This melodrama has everything in it for it to be perfect. I loved the way the story started spinning around the main characters.
CHARACTERS:
Thing that I loved the most is that the actions of the characters are believable and you can understand them for what they did. There is no one in particular who is a "villain" in this show. Every actor gave their best.
OST:
The parts where the heroine sang was beautiful so is the background score.

From the set to the pace of the story, this show is really spectacular for its barely three hours run. The only thing I wished is to see the aftermath of their death and how the other characters reacted to it.
