Watch for second leads and the twists!

The second leads in the drama are so amazing, and the plot is really, really inventive. Just when you think you've figured it out there's another crazy twist, so don't trust anything you see! If you like intrigue, a bit of angst, and a mature, healthy, supportive relationship, this one's for you.

I will admit up front that this review is based entirely on the second leads and the adventure plot, because I got so sick of the 'main' couple after four or five episodes that I just fast forwarded through their scenes to get to the (in my opinion) good stuff. The lead characters are actually pretty annoying, and the actors are mediocre at best, but their relationship and backstory scenes can easily be skipped without missing anything important to the really interesting plot and heart-fluttering second couple's story.

The second leads - Xu Nian (ZLH) and Quin Ya (FSQ) - in the drama are *everything.* Their relationship is beautiful and heart-warming, they are at the center of the intrigue plot, and the two actors carry the show on their capable (and gorgeous) shoulders. I think the creative team realized this as the drama was being made, because by the halfway point this pair pretty much became the main leads. Once that switch happened, I was glued to the screen!

The rest of the characters are okay - many of them are more like caricatures than people, and some of the acting is iffy. I liked the secondary members of the boy band, who were charming but not deep. The villain was completely over the top, which occasionally became annoying, but he was balanced out by his aunt, who was great.

For a drama about a boy band, the music wasn't particularly memorable. The production quality was pretty good, though, especially considering that there was a lot of virtual reality involved.

As for rewatching, I've already watched the whole second leads story and escape plot twice. Even knowing the twists, it's good enough to enjoy multiple times.

Should definitely watch once!

The plot or the story of the drama is unlike other chinese dramas. Its not only about the romance between Jiang jie and Li nai. It gives you an insight to the chinese cuisine and how hard chefs work. Not spoiling too much, it makes one go through an emotional rollercoaster. The actor who played the role Jiang jie was excellent. He was the one who stood out among all for me. The only thing which i didnot like was the romance development between the main leads. It was clear that jiang jie liked li nai from the very beginning but through most of the episodes it felt as if li nai treated jiang jie just as a friend. So sudden confession was felt a bit off. Them being in a relationship was very sweet and pure. Kiss scenes were hot. Over all, truly worth it to watch once!

such a healing show <3

I really love every second of the show. happy to witness seventeen experienced something new and created new memories. A huge thank you to Egg is Coming, na PD, Shin PD, production teams, and all staff for making this happen for the boys. thanks to them for treating the boys so well. and without a doubt I can see how the staff started to adore and also became a carat after the trip. they really did a good job of highlighting the boys’ personalities. truly a roller-coaster ride of emotion! SEASON 2 with OT13 please ??

I really like the trope about contract marriages, because usually it leads to funny, flirty moments. But not here.. In the beginning the show was an easy 8 - 8.5 for me, but it dropped very fast, leading to reach rock bottom at episode 9. I was so close to dropping the show after episode 10, but with only 40 minutes left, i decided to finish the show. And got more and more frustrated.

Usually japan serves very likeable female leads, thats at least my experience, but maybe i was just lucky in the past to watch the right dramas. The fl here is just horrible. she lies all the time for the sake of others, because apparently everyone deservers happiness, but her.

Takumi, Masaki and Remi really carried the show. the support characters are absolutely adorable, likeable and funny. the actors are great and i indeed like the comically acting. The one-sided gay romance surprised me and at one point i just wanted takumi and masaki ending up together, lol. the fl was really frustrating, because theres no character development for her, while remi got a great change and became likeable very fast. she and masaki were my favorite characters! somehow every side character was more likeable then yae, which made it really hard and frustrating to watch the drama.

the dramas favorite trope is interruption. and i hate it. if it occurs only a few times, it can be funny, but overdone its just annoying and thats the case here.

the ending was just ridiculous. a fake marriage to make takumi realizes he wants yae? yeah, no. why communicate when you can pull off such a desaster? lmao.

ah, and what was this ost pls? i dont know if it was autotune, but there were way too much effects on the vocals on the ending song and it was just a pain in my ears.

i dont recommend the show, because there are way better dramas with the contract marriage trope, that serves the things i expect from a drama, very well. this drama failed totally to deliver everything i watch this trope for.

Eh

*The main leads do not end up together but it is not sad either.*
Ah yes I love the smell of unrequited love in the morning! I absolutely love JBLs and their use of blue hues. I was sucked in the beginning so fast because of the directors and screenwriters were apart of some of my favorite dramas being eternal yesterday and my personal weatherman, Jack o’frost but apparently I jumped the gun*insert crying emoji*.

Within the show we have multiple one sided crushes and unrequited loves *insert crying emoji.”
The cinematography is beautiful and OST is super catchy and pleasing to the ear HOWEVER, many times I fear I kept calling to BL because it felt like she wasn’t in the room with us*insert crying emoji*. Felt a little too hetero for my liking at some point and not even a feeling of bromance was to be found.
The storyline is so nonsensical until the last episode and by then I didn’t even want or feel the need to finish it tbh. I was disappointed with this drama unfortunately but we can’t win them all lol.

Honestly, it’s not that good

What more could we ask for other than a handsome vampire and a cute curious boy? That’s something I would say if the plot was good. Look I’m not angry just disappointed. Visually the show is appealing. Yes the scenery is pretty and so is the entire cast however, production wise, the shooting is done okay but there are some weird cuts and odd sound effects here and there. I did find myself giggling and cringing at the same time so I guess you can call that a healthy balance in a BL drama lol. Both MC are equally weird and I’m here for it but the show is slower in terms of pace and cringy which are never a good thing to have simultaneously.

Disappointed

I really like some of the main actors, so I was expecting better. It started off well for the first few episodes. Most of the characters (in the main three couples) were good, though fairly shallow and predictable. Then it just got weird. The relationships were all over the place, the plot line hopped around like a rabbit on cocaine. It was very hard to follow, with holes everywhere. By the last few episodes the bad guys were so overdone it was painful to watch. I don’t really expect a lot of realism from my dramas- I can suspend some logic for a good story. But this was ridiculous. Cliche, predictable and boring. Grandpa was a jerk to everyone, but all of a sudden they all loved him at the end. He got sick and people who hated him were crying. Why? There was never any relationship fixing. It was like a switch just flipped with no explanation. And don’t even get me started on the boxing scenes. And the boxing shorts! That whole part was awful… and they did it more than once.
I would have quit watching earlier if not for the 3 main guys- they did well with the scripts they were given. But it wasn’t even remotely interesting by the last few episodes. I’ll look for them in other shows.

PONDPHUWIN IS GOOD BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT PERTH?

I know I know that the main couple is PondPhuwin but I couldn't help but to think about Perth all the god damn time!! I never thought Perth as a good actor but UM HELLO????? I am clearly wrong! He is a good damn actor and the way he express his feelings, good god! Can I just compliment the outfit coordinator as well? Perth's outfit is just... LORD HAVE MERCY! Anyway, let's talk about the characters first.

I don't have any single complain about the characters. For Neung's character, I really like how immature he is at the beginning of the series however soon, he has character development episodes by episodes. He started to get less selfish and open up to the other characters. Phuwin shows great acting by showing how spoiled Neung's character is and how difficult for him to open up to anyone since most of the people that approach him must want something. AND LORD, CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT PHUWIN'S ENGLISH? MY GOD!!! I didn't think I could move on from Bible's english in KinnPorsche series but MISS GURL-... Phuwin's english is damn good and apparently he is fluent in English. Anyway, I kind of understand why Neung is being so stubborn since he is always all alone, so that's the logic why he is being like that.

POND. POND. POND. HM.... GORGEOUS and I like how he is portraying Palm. As a servant that is loyal to his master, always look down and being all protective of his master. THOUGH, I was about to complain about why is he being so weak during action scene, it's a logic explanation since he is just 18. His character I mean so he doesn't have that much energy to protect Neung. I wish the action scene where he was doing his laundry could be develop better cause they have so much potential like they could have use the bamboo ladder as a prop. What a waste. But, seriously, love them.

KISS SCENES ARE DA BOMB. When I said DA BOMB i mean DA BOMB. Not some high school peck on the lips kind of shit. Their kiss scenes are *chef kiss*. I love it when they kiss, they show that they are really passionate with each other, like they longing for each other's presence.

overall, I just love them so fucking much and I hope they have more series upcoming <3

Here's the WARNING sign you were looking for [LOL]

I never write reviews, but this was hands down one of the worst dramas I ended up finishing. I'm sure the actors did the best with what they were given, because I've seen (at least) Wallace Chung and Jiang Shu Ying in other series where they were amazing, so I don't blame them for a bad script.

The main couple were adorable when they finally got back together, but there were just so many plot holes where the flow of the story just wasn't working at all. I know this is a drama/fictional, so some parts are most likely going to be more unrealistic but chemistry aside, to have the male lead continue to want the female lead to play the lead actress in his movie in the plot after all the continued chaos was ridiculous LMAO.

And the relationship between the female lead's sister & the guy who liked her was so toxic, and continued to be until they got [redacted]?! It was suuuuper MESSY.

(omg it sounds like I'm ranting, but maybe I AM after having to sit through 30 eps)

All the characters had terrible 'development' (if we can even call it that) throughout the series - my GOODNESS. And if I'm being honest, the main couple + Uncle Kaiyu aside, my favorite character was Liu Hao Ran!

SPOILER:
ALSO, what do you mean the writers k-word'ed the Uncle in the last two episodes?! And then the male lead loses one of his legs in the last episode?!?! Like WHAT?!?!?! I guess I can see how the d3@th of the uncle added to the plot, but WHY DID THE MALE LEAD RANDOMLY LOSE HIS LEG... HOW DOES THAT ADD TO THE PLOT AT ALL (AND IN THE LAST LIKE 5 MINUTES LMFAOOOO)

Anyways, I wish I read the reviews before I watched, so if you come upon my review, fair warning not waste your time by watching this ┐( ˘ 、 ˘ )┌

This Is So Good If You're Tired of Plotless BL

I'm so glad I didn't listen to the reviews omfg. I'm on episode 6 and this is a masterpiece. I love all the characters, including the one I hate for fun and Phupha, the one I hate because it is the correct thing to feel for him. Right from the jump, the plot establishes Nanfah as The Goodest Boy™️ and at this point, I am prepared to impale anyone who hurts him. This is particularly impressive to me because he is (perhaps only outwardly??) a stupid character. Not as soul-numbingly dumb as some typical BL stupid characters, but he's in the category all the same. He makes up for it by having a heart of actual gold (rhodium? The boy is precious is what I'm saying.)

I have never had a show so efficiently make me like a character, flaws and all. I watched a lot of things and I almost always have to be coaxed into liking characters a little (with a few (literally, three) very deserving exceptions) but Nanfah? He's so Good, like literally just a good person but not to the extent that it's grating. Okay, I could crow about him all day but let's move on.

I can see all the space left for BL, but it's never at the expense of the show, the plot, the character development, or the entertainment of it all. In fact, it's almost never actually utilized, I'm pretty sure this is gonna be one of the one's where the BL is crammed into the last couple episodes. The side characters are likeable or unlikable on purpose. The jokes land!! I've had countless laughs while watching this and while it wasn't gutbusting guffaws (like MSP, for example) I haven't stopped smiling for the most part.

I say for the most part because Phupha exists. I like Phupha. Phupha is, objectively, a likeable guy. The decisions he makes, even before we time skip to the present, make me hate him. I disliked him because I wasn't willing to forgive him, especially when his actions affected The Goodest Boy™️. I say that because I hate him and want everyone to know it, but also because this show is an exemplary example of how to properly get watchers invested in characters. I've been invested since episode one. I am never invested until episode two or three AT LEAST because they're normally the absolute worst episodes (bar episode ten). This story draws you in. I started watching to have something in the background while I worked and ended up trying to get caught up because it was so compelling I couldn't split my attention.

Phupha is finally getting his comeuppance and it hurts because I like him. It also feels great because I hate him. It feels the greatest because I love Nanpha. I'm so aggressively torn by and invested in these characters, it is glorious. It's one of those where all of the options being hinted at are acceptable to me-- I'm more attached to the story and the characters than the (scarce) BL. Well, that's half a lie, actually. I hope they don't end up together, which is also rare for me, and a first for me when I like all the characters. The amount of times I have thought or said *out loud* that Phupha hasnt, doesn't, and never will deserve Nanfah must be in the hundreds by now.

I removed half a point because people really don't talk in their sleep as much as Thai shows make it seem and I've got a decent amount of contempt for that sort of thing now. Never in my life have I rooted this hard for the second male lead (third? I mean Party, not PoopPha.) I just want to roll this series up and put it in my pocket ugh. I'm in the Nanfah fanclub, the Party Fanclub, the Pooppha Hateclub, the Ken appreciation club.... I love these characters so much. I hate lying plotlines (and lying in general) the most so thats hashing my high but I'm in episode 8 now and I'm still waiting for the wasted potential other review were talking about.

Okay, I'm almost done with episode ten and I can say that it's looking like the ending won't be as satisfying as I hoped. Why? Because no one is out of character. The final obstacle was what I expected it to be and Phupha reacted how he's already demonstrated he would. I hate him so much it's bleeding over to the actor so I'm gonna have to fix that, but on the plus side, it means he's done a fantastic job. Nanfah has the patience of a saint, the smile of pure sunlight, and my whole shriveled heart. Frankly, even with as much as I love Nanfah, I found myself wishing evil on him if only so that Phupha would learn a very difficult lesson. So, I suppose, I hate Phupha more than I love Nanfah? Holy shit, for a second I thought they did it and I was actually really pleased. Ah, alas. Tbh, if they had, I would've added back that half star, because the Phupha Hate Club demands that Phupha suffer.

Okay, I'm done now so in conclusion: MDLs rating is wrong as always, this is great, Phupha will piss you off and give you heartburn, watch this. (Also Phupha has never, does not, and will never deserve Namfah.)

(Also, also, this is the first time I've been nonplussed to dissatified about a happy ending lol.)

Okiokiokioki see yoooouuuuuu

THIS IS A THERAPY

I swear to god this is now going to be on my top 1 fav list of seventeen's variety show. This show literally relax you makes you laugh makes you emotional. every kind of emotion, you can see in this show. The bond between the members is just so amusing. Seventeen are like family. waiting every Friday for the new episode was always worth it. Seeing Seventeen comfortable throughout the whole show made me happy. i am really happy that they got a relaxing vacation, even though it was for some days they got to make beautiful memories with each other. This is goanna be the one of the beautiful memories of seventeen. Kidnapping them was literally hilarious it was so fun to watch. The way seventeen keep on loosing their belongings at last episode and finding out afterwards was literally so funny. The way dino just lose his money pouch and his members were like it's ok like nothing happened i was really impressed that time. also when Vernon just slept at the middle of the ocean like damn that was hilarious. OfCourse how can i forget the talent show. they were so creative with their ideas. i literally enjoyed watching it. i missed mafia game so much I'm glad that they played. verkwan were literally so funny. I'm also glad to see Wonwoo's adorable and kind side. he is literally so humble person. THIS IS THE BEST MEMORY FOR SEVENTEEN AND CARAT. SALUTEEEEEEEE.

Another poorly written story

Just another poorly written story... Snobbish CEO with a naive girl. Then the story just got boring with the 2 main characters going in circle and circle. Hate the phone ringing in critical time. It happens all the time to a point that it is just ridiculously stupid. The misunderstanding was so bloody childish and amateurish... What is wrong with C-drama writers? Seems that their only aim is to find opportunities to extend the drama to as many episodes as possible.

Good-looking always win

Before i watching this , lots of people say there is too many kiss scene but i think its not that many .

Personally think that even if the male lead not seduce the female lead , they still will fall for each other .
The story was light and good but im skipping the game part because i'm not really into it , but Linyi was handsome in that scene lol. Anyway there is no plot twist that going to make you shock .

I'm more interested in second couple than the main. Sadly the second couple get together at the of the story , rooting for more love scene of them.
