Good on paper and strange on the screen

Really good and cheerful, a funny drama to bingle watch. I actually loved when i first watched but eventually the development got confused and we got a hella annoying main couple since the real chemistry was between the ghost and the chef. I had the impression that they didnt developed correctly and it looked rushed even tho they had room to do it better. So when they finally got together in the end it just looked like he chose to seetle down with the only option he had.

P.S. Hye-Sun looking amazing here

messy ...

This show would have been so much better with a slightly different storyline. Instead of the virgin ghost trying to get laid, she should have investigated her death from the beginning. Then, Bong Seon could have maybe still been possessed for two weeks but after that they could have worked together, and we would not have had that weird ass love story. I mean honestly, why was she more obsessed with sex than her death that she doesn't remember?? That should have been more of a priority, to find out what happened and act accordingly with BS.

The romance between Chef and BS was so sweet when she wasn't possessed (and unfortunately, we only got that sweetness in the last couple episodes when the ghost finally decided to NOT possess BS any longer), it was truly annoying how the ghost knew that she wasn't acting according to BS true character. It was equally annoying how the ghost didn't care about consent and just acted on her own selfish feelings (until BS allowed for the possession to happen), abusing BS body for her own benefit for .... what exactly? To get laid once? Only to find out in the end that her vexation stemmed from her sudden and unfair death and not because she died a virgin.

The chefs were a mix of hella funny and annoying tbh but in the last couple episodes they were kinda wholesome. I really wish we could have seen more of BS and Chef and less of the ghost in BS's body, she was always harassing everyone, pushing boundaries, and I cannot believe that the majority of the reviews don't really talk about these problems. Like it's not funny that ghost-BS was looking at her coworkers taking a shower, or that she was throwing herself at Chef to get him to sleep with her. Her unreasonable reactions to his rejections just solidified my dislike for her. The ghost's story might have been sad and she kinda became better in the last episodes, but I disliked her character overall.

Unfortunately, this drama was not that good. The music is forgettable, the main plot complete garbage and the romance between the actual leads falls short because of the stupid writing/script for the plot. The chemistry between all actors and especially the leads was great though, and PBY was really good in this drama. I have never seen her in anything so far, but I am excited to see her in some other dramas - same goes for Cho Jung Seok, he was so charming and funny!!

This show has it's positive and negative outcomes.

Positive
- Has a Cutie Lovestory with cute and funny moments
- Funny cast especially Bong Sun's workmates
- Charismatic characters
- Good ending overall.

Negative
- Didn't feel the vibe for the first few episodes
- Conflict of the series/story was shown at the last four episodes at least. The production should have stated it at the first few episodes of the series.
- The flow of the story has its high and low. They were not consistent on it.

overall would rate it as 8/10 based on my positive comments.

Good Romance with a hint of murder

An enjoyable show. I found the celebrities playing these roles to be more than capable in this drama, no shortage of good acting. I have to say that the two leads are so cute (in a toothache but not sickening kind of way) and cheeky. Good possession TV series, with a budding romance and hint of who dunit murder.

The second female lead trying to get laid was tiring for me just cause it caused me second hand embarrassment. Her character grew a little too slowly for me, but she grew. The recurring cast were a funny bunch they definitely help me enjoy the show. The (kitchen) office politics are funny with the Sous Chef who irritates his staff because he's too excessive in everything including complaints and neediness.

Mystery > Romance

I rarely find myself preferring the thriller to the romance in a thriller romance, but that was definitely the case here. So it was kind of a shame that this drama only really doubled down on the main mystery plot in the last few episodes, which turned out to be my favorite.

I really didn’t connect to the romance for multiple reasons, the first one being that the main female lead was possessed by someone else for much of it. I found myself constantly questioning who the ML was really falling for and when it was all reasoned at the end into “it was her all along,” it didn’t really feel earned. Other than that, the chemistry between the leads wasn’t really there and it felt like there was a large age gap (or at least maturity gap) between the leads.

My main issue with the romance and general plot, though, happens during those moments of possession. The second female lead (the ghost) thinks the reason she can’t pass on is because she died a virgin, and so she spends all of her screen time trying to sleep with the ML by touching him, climbing into his bed, etc. It’s really uncomfortable to watch, especially since all of it is just played off for laughs. I don’t think this aspect added anything to the story either — she could’ve very well thought she had another grudge and still made her personality loud and bubbly so that the ML would notice her acting different.

If they had spent less time with the romance, we could’ve really gotten more time expanding on the mystery, which was the most interesting part. The unearthing of the backstory is satisfying, but I wish we got more reactions from other characters, or some explanation about character motivations and plot developments.

Still, this is pretty light-hearted and fun watch. It feels like another 2010s drama classic, for sure.

One of the things that I liked the most was the chemistry between Park Bo Young and Kim Seul Gi's character, it makes me wonder how they would have interacted if Shin Soo Ae was actually alive. Another thing that I liked was the group of chefs that worked in the restaurant. Let's say you're annoyed about something that happened in the story, you can always count on them to provide comic relief. The thing that I didn't like was that in the beginning episodes, I found it hard to like Kim Seul Gi's character. This might be because of the fact she didn't really care about anyone else but how she would live instead. By the end of this drama, I was happy with the overall story and cast. It is definitely a light drama which didn't play with my feelings too much. Happy dama watching!!

{Beware}
Contains some soft spoilers of ending

So I ended up searching k-dramas on Netflix and ended up picking Oh My Ghostess when I saw that Park Bo Young was the staring actress (also there wasn't there much option).

Before starting to watch it I read the plot and liked the plot and was super excited to give it a shot.

*STORY
Overall the initial plot fascinated me and since I was an avid anime fan I had a idea of the ghost, Soon Ae being in a coma since she lacked of her memories, makes sense right? But I guess the need for tragedy was superior to a good comumn sense.
Another thing that lowed my score is pretty much what most people miss and irritates me profoundly!

The "romance" between Sun Woo and "Bong Sun" is meaningless... Why? Because non possessed Bong Sun irritated Sun Woo. Now when possessed he fell in love with Soon ae and her energy so I don't get why the non possessed Bong Sun and Sun Woo ended up together. It's ridiculous!

*Acting/Cast
The best part and what made me start watching this show is Boo Young. The rest of the cast is also amazing and I feel eager to know more about the other two main casts. They are very well portraited, dressed and styled and boy,  were the  kiss scenes cute.

*Music
I rarely vote non music shows that high and I can only evaluate the in show sounds and I think they were ok... Also, I'm a bit disappointed with the opening but it doesn't affect the score anyway.

*Rewatch Value
NOPE, NEVER, I even skipped some episodes.

The story line is really interesting and filled with humor . This was my second time watching ghost type story and it was a great fun . ????❤️
Everyone has done justice to their roles. But specially Park Bo young, she is amazing & So cute... The way she acts...impressive!!???? Lead couple looked cute together.
This drama not only entertains you but also gives you life lessons, life is so uncertain so we should try to live our best...and live diligently. It has mystery, comedy, romance and a few scary moments.
The background score is good.
Perfect and cute romcom drama.????????
Worth Watching!!????

I don't even know where to start with this one. SO GOOD.  Ugh the romance is amazing, the cast is amazing, the writing is amazing and the music is perfect. Oh and it's hilarious.

I'll begin with the cast because they have so much to do with this drama's success. Park Bo Young clearly does a hell of a job in this one. Not only does she portray one character so well, but two. The way she switches between characters is exceptional. She easily made it onto my favorite actors list. I love the energy that she played Soon Ae with and she's so cute that even when her character was being super over the top she was super lovable. Yet, she could become the painfully shy Bong Sun the very next moment and just make you wanna shake life into her. Kim Seul Gi I had seen in Flower Boy Next Door before this but she had such a small role in that I really had no idea what she was capable of but man she's impressive. Her character Shin Soon Ae, had me crying on so many occasions and her character's bubbly persona, even when she was being mischievous, was fun and eye catching. I felt for her character so deeply and a large part of that is because of her powerful acting. Now to Jo Jung Suk. Okay, well I'm a huge fan of his so of course I love him, but I'm a fan because he's an amazing actor. His character, Kang Sun Woo, is insecure while also being full of himself but also has a lot of integrity and passion. Jo Jung Suk portrays his boyishly immature and admirable charismatic character perfectly and even when other cute distractions arise aka Cordon ;), he still shines and I always looked forward to his presence. But that's the great thing about this drama, I couldn't wait to see all the characters. The kitchen crew omg don't even get me started. So funny. And funny in a natural way. I didn't feel like they were trying to make me to laugh, but rather that they were just being goofs all on their own and I just happened to witness it. Min Soo (Sous Chef) was an amazing supporting character and Kang Ki Young played him masterfully. Cordon, played by Kwak Si Yang, is another character that really intrigued me. I liked that he never actually became a "second male lead" but that he was just an extra sweetie and solid voice of reason and stability when other characters got too crazy. XD Instead of taking away from the funniness and antics of some of the other supporting characters, he just added to their funniness by being so level headed and darn sexy. Im Joo Won also did his character Seung Jae justice and he had me legitimately scared sometimes. All the cast was amazing but I won't mention them all as that would take all day.

The story: I loved the story. The characters are developed very well. Even if you don't like some of the characters at the beginning, the writers do a wonderful job of not suddenly, but consistently integrating the backstories and character growth in a timely fashion in where you don't feel overwhelmed. The writing and directing are well done. The pacing throughout the whole drama is kept very well and everything is presented at the perfect time. Therefore, you don't get too confused with too much information and you don't get bored from a lack of information. There's always something going on and any side stories and backstories are snuck in so naturally that I wasn't ever like, oh great, or, here we go again. I enjoyed every scene while watching it and even if I always looked forward to the main characters scenes, I never wished for other scenes to be cut short. What I think is done exceptionally well is the combination of genres. The romance and comedy go great together but even when this drama goes down very dark roads, it fits so well. Most importantly though, this drama never got boring and never dragged. I was also thoroughly invested in this drama until the last moment in which I cried cause it was so beautiful. Also, the supernatural spin in this was the perfect twist. I like when dramas have that one little twist that makes them unique and the ghost possession creates much excitement and intriguing conflict. If you're scared away because for some reason you didn't like other dramas with the supernatural tag or with ghosts, then don't be. This drama is unique in it's take. This show also makes  cooking seem like a lot of fun and I've never even liked cooking cause I'm lazy as heck.

Music: I always find orchestrated music very emotion evoking and the instrumentals in this drama are so lovely and intense. The music is what really pulled the emotions out of me alongside the impeccable acting etc. I still listen to the music tracks in this drama and I've watched it three times. Oh and Jo Jung Suk's song in this is ahhhhh! <3

To me, the very few amount of flaws this drama has aren't worth mentioning and even at my most objective I don't think I would give it lower than a 9. A good drama is a good drama and that's just what this is.

Overall, you should watch this! This drama impacted me on an emotional level in many areas (laughter, crying, fear, excitement) and if you like romance and comedy, regardless of ghosts and the supernatural, you'll probably love this. At least I did.

Confused

I wanted so much from this drama but it did not turn out as I wanted it to be
whole plot was based on a ghost possessing the body of the female lead to quench her sexual desire because she died virgin

But anyhow the love story is supposed to be in between the male lead and the female lead but it was as not as such

the plot or the story line revolving around the death of the ghost was just perfect
I loved it everything was very beautiful and emotional but the romance didn't click because as I said before the romance has had to be in between female lead and male lead

but whatever the best moment this series had best kisses this series had all the best romantic moments were shared by the male lead and the ghost in the female leads body!!!
so which basically means the male lead actually loved the ghost
How are we supposed to accept the fact that the female lead continued to be his girlfriend we do not have any particular reason to accept the fact that they were in relationship
the ghost comforted him made him happy made him fall in love with her there was no role of female lead in this

In the series itself the male lead accepts that he fell for the ghost but still they continue the relationship because obviously she is the female lead and that is how the story has to end
but that did not make any sense
there were in total four kisses in this drama out of which three kisses where with ghost in female leads body
the bestest of moments, beautiful bonding and the deep conversation that happened in this series happened between the ghost and the male lead
no connection between the male lead
the female lead just happened without reason
she just happened to be there and she is meant to be the female lead that's why she ended up with him
the Male lead accepts the fact that he was worried about the female lead from the very start which we could also see but worrying about someone and loving someone both are completely different
she was working him with him since so long but he worried about her, never loved her but as soon as she was possessed by the ghost he fell in love which means he fell in love with the ghostt not the female lead

The male lead again and again remembered all those moments only which were spent with the ghost!!

I can't accept this at all

But otherwise everything else was perfect
Comedy thriller cooking scenes everything clicked but not the romance

Good acting but a very poor plot

I found the drama, and esp. the ending disappointing. I think the writers patched up Chef's relationship with Bong Sun. I hated that in the end Bong Sun turned into Soon Ae. The high pitched voice was awful and made her seem as fake as the ghost when she was trying to seduce the Chef. Bong Sun lost her own personality and warmth that we've seen in the beginning of the series. Even though the Chef cares for Bong Sun from the start and finds out that she's the author of his fav blog, he never does anything to actually get to know her. With Soon Ae he knew all her likes and dislikes, he planned to take her out to every single place she wanted to go. We had several episodes of their dating even though plot-wise 20 minutes would be enough. Alas, he never asks Bong Sun what she likes. Actually, he never takes her out to a date once she tells him about the ghost girl. He tells her he always liked her but he fell for the ghost, and that's the end of their talking about their relationship. It's like he doesn't really care about Bong Sun, and stays with her because it's the only viable option, while she's so desperate to be loved by him that she turns into Soon Ae, because she knows she's his second choice. Moreover, watching the series I really didn't expect it'd come to that. Bong Sun is an introvert, but her personality seems more interesting and mysterious than that of the outgoing Soon Ae, who has nothing interesting going for herself except for lumps of confidence. I really hoped the Chef, who himself used to be a timid boy in his youth, would be willing to do the work and get to know the real Bong Sun. Sadly, that's not what's happening. The ending was sad and disappointing. I'm going to rate it 4/10.

Oh, and to be sure. His relationship with Soon Ae sucked even more because it was fake from the start to the end. It was based on lies and deception. Soon Ae pretended to be someone she wasn't just to get laid. And even if she developed feelings for him in the process, she never really showed to him her real self. We've watched the series so we know that the ghost girl with blond hair and the ghost girl with brown hair were two different personalities. Unlike Bong Sun the ghost girl repeatedly lied to the Chef without a blink of an eye. She didn't care for the consequences because she was going to leave anyway. The ghost girl the Chef dated was just a fiction. It was a very poor choice to show us so much of the fake relationship and so little of the real one.
